When the ruitual began, my fear itself was trembling inside of me. When I was younger I didn't want to kill, hate or do anything hurtful.

But my values quickly changed, for better or worse, I had to survive.

We were taken to to the remote temple, the priest hissi opened the gates that lead into the dark and wet tunnels that swirled beneath the province.
We were taken in at certian times, blindfolded and placed in particular areas based on our physical abilities, I being the weakest was put along the top, closest to the enterance. My brotherss were placed closer to the bottom. I was also the youngest of my family of 5. I was always shadowed by my two older brothers; Shun and Raphier.

After what seemed like ages, I heard the bell ring. The tunnels were small, but with my wings fully spread, I was still able to fly. The dark and winding paths confused me, and after flying past my starting point 3 times, I knew I was lost.

As the tunnels were getting bigger and darker, I knew I was going the wrong way. I did not know how to get back up. I them suddenly flew into a body...

I was able to reconize Shun's Torn figure, he had been ripped to shreds, only then I contemplated being followed.

I sat and grieved for the loss of my brother, it was likely that Raphier has killed him, he was the oldest, strongest and the most ruthless.
Not wanting to stay in the same place for longer, I flew onward_ I wanted to live and carry on the memory of my precious family.

That's when I saw a sillouette in the water below me...

Raphier dove at me and i barely managed to escape. Flying at my fullest speed I was able to loose my brother. But when I rounded the corner, he was there waiting for me.

His malicious Red eyes glared at me, this powerful webbed wings spread and his long grey body in a striking position. Without hesitation he attacked me.

It wasn't long before he pinned my wings down and towered above me, my underbelly was completely exposed, I was going to suffer the same fate as my dear brother Shun.

As a Sapphire, I carry a strong venomous poison in the beads on my tail. My brother lacked the ability to do so, He became hateful and trained himself physically to overcome his weakness. I was the only one who could make a leathal amount, naturally he resented me. Rattling my tail long enough could produce enough poison to kill him. Breaking away was my best bet.
I pulled myself out of his grip, the pressure on my wings made them weak and the hooked fingers of his wings tore at the base of my wings, he unsucessfuly tore my wings off.

As I took flight again, my wingbeats were slowed by the damage, I felt weak and faint, Raphier who was completely enraged was close behind me.

I ran into the corpses of my parents. They were supposed to be overground and to end the ritual by arranging a mate for the winner, Why were they here?

A mate will not sustain my ambition Blue, I am King of the Sapphires, I will not grant half of my powers to a useless female.

Raphier had caught me once again, but this time, hos body coiled around mine, he intended to suffocate me.

Anger rushed through my veins, I will not allow this monster to rule, I was still alive, the King and Queen were both dead, in front of me. The Priest was probably killed as well.

Angrily I punched my tail into Raphier's muzzle. I was going to die, I had to give a bit of a fight. Raphier's shocked eyes suddenly turned into a shade of green. Had I poisoned him? Impossible I never had the chance to rattle my tail, how was this happening?

Raphier lashed at me and missed, his grip loosened. While I was wriggling free, Raphier was able to throw me into the cave walls, my parents soft bodies cushioned me fall. Watching Raphier trip and fall, I realized that he was completely blind.

This was the oppourtunity, I called for him and noisily fluttered my wings, Raphier charged right into the wall. The loud thud followed with the slowing twitches from his body soon indicated that he was dead.

The cave walls were crumbling, though I had survived, the most important thing I had to do now, was escape.

Flying upwards; I saw a small light and flew towards it.
The long tunnels were covered in falling debris and blood only accompanied me now. I glanced backwards, the tunnels were closing down with rocks, and the short distance ahead was doing the same.

I urged onwards and reached the light. As I was leaving, the rock crumbled on me and I was crushed.

A passing human took notice of the situation and pulled me out, one of my fangs hung loosely from my mouth and I was completely covered in blood.
The human told me that her name was Maggie, she took me to her home and nursed me back to health.

I met my following adoptive sisters, and I am living the life am right now.

Though my emotional scars haven't healed, I still value life.
