The Blue Mountain Eyrie
.:My Life:. My younger days were spent on Terror Mountain. The icy cliffs served as our playground. Yes. It was dangerous and stupid, but it was fun. Few of the other males had challenged me and I wanted to prove myself to them. It was mid-day, and I will never forget it. The worst day of my life happened to start off with a wonderful morning. The wind was easy but still very forcefull. The breeze was nice against my feathered wings. I wish you could have seen me...those were the days to be an Eyrie. The land was baeutiful, before the war- Things have changed since then. I mean, it hasn't been that long since it all started, but it definetly has changed. I know because I remember...I remember it all. I am still young...but not as young as I was then. I found myself flying straight into a pack of wild lupes. Who knew they would be there? I did. I was there to prove I was not afraid. It was a way to show that I belonged with the Mountain Eyries. Of course, the wiser Eyries told me that being a Mountain Eyrie means respecting the mountains and those who dwell there. Its ok to be afraid. You don't hve to be all-powerful and brave to be a Mountain Eyrie...just honorable. What I was doing was not honorable. I was supposed to steal the lupes dinner...the lupes didn't like that so much. Before I could get away, one took a chunk out of my leg (thus, it is bandaged...and will never heal). It was a miracle I made it out alive. I had to get out of there...I flew as fast as I could, my leg still bleeding and hurting. I had to land. I fell right into a stream. Down the river I drifted, for miles it seemed. The water got shallower and the rockbed scratched my weakened body as I floated. I distinctly recall a white Eyrie...she was the largest I had ever seen. She looked like a ghost with her white color and dark eyes. I had never seen such an Eyrie...She called me by my name and held me like a mother holds her newborn baby. She cradled me and carried me off to a wonderful place. I often dream of that place. I don't know where it was but it felt like paradise.
Soon, I was back home...but...no one was there. It looked as if so much time had passed. Everything was different. Snow had covered our den and trees had grown up around the cliffs making it impossible to climb. I flew to the top, where my mother and I used to sit and watch the sun set but she wasn't there. Just that lonely little rock. I sat there and watched as the sun fell below the horizon...a strange feeling of emptiness overcame me...
