- How to be successful with World Challenges
Hello
guest and welcome to my World Challenges (hereafter: WC) guide. As you'll see, it contains a
lot of informations and you'll have to scroll down and up a lot. If this page takes too many times to load
(due to the great number of screenshots), then I strongly recommend you to save this page on your computer
("File" then "Save Page As...", then choose a folder and then press on "Save" button). Next time you need to
use my guide, open the saved document ;) Moreover if this WC guide is updated, you will be informed by looking
at my
user lookup.
Step 1 :
Preliminary requirements
First of all, as you may already know, sponsorized and luck games cannot be available as WC games. So when you
look at your high scores (click
here
to open a new window and see your high scores), only take a particular attention to Flash Games and skip all
sponsorized and luck games. Here is a screenshot of my high scores :

|
I need to improve my scores to win a WC Competition.
|
|
No WC Competitions for those (Flash) Games.
|
|
You may have Flash Games which no longer exist.
|
This step is the most important since it will help you to be successful with your WC Competitions.
Flash Games which have a green background are games where my highest score is:
- greater than the "points limit
- or sufficiently high to easily win a WC Competition
1. Each Flash Game has a "points limit", i.e. whenever you send a score which is greater than
that points limit, TNT will review your score. If it is valid, then TNT accepts it and you receive
a neomail which confirms your score and you get your Neopoints at that moment.
How can I know what is the points limit of a particular Flash Game?
Well it's difficult to precisely know the points limit of a particular Flash Game. The best way to
know it is to look at the high score tables just after the reset (i.e. at the beginning of a month).
Since it takes time to review high scores, a lot of Neopians send their scores just below or at the
points limit. For example, the highest possible score you can send for
Destruct-O-Match II
before TNT reviews it is 3,499 points, i.e. if you send a score of 3,500+ points, it will be reviewed
by TNT.
2. There are some Flash Games which you don't need to send the highest possible score to win a WC
Competition. For example, if you play
Faerie Cloud Racers and send a score above 3,000 points,
you are almost sure to win.
How can I know what kind of score(s) I have to send to win a WC Competition?
Well again it's difficult to precisely know. The best way to know it is to check the scores sent by
other Neopians. If your highest score is above a great majority of those scores, then the odds to
win is very high. Let's take an example. You decide to take part into the
Hasee Bounce WC
Competition and your highest score is 360 points. You look at the scores of your opponents and
there are only one who sent a score above 360 points. Your odds to win is high. However suppose that
there are 3 Neopians who sent scores above 400 points. Your odds to win is now very low. But since
your opponent is randomly chosen, you can either win against a "newbie" or loose against a true gamer.
Moreover, you are limited to 3 WC winners per day, therefore there are hours where scores are very
high (when true gamers play their daily WC Competiions) and other hours where sent scores are lower
(because true gamers won't play 7-8 WC Competitions since you can only win up to 3 WC winners per day).
Flash Games which have a yellow background are games where my highest score isn't sufficiently
high to easily win a WC Competition but I may win depending on the scores of the other Neopians.
Well here you need luck. You know that your highest score isn't sufficiently high but as I said before
you still can win a WC Competition when there are no true gamers who play against you. For example, my
best ever score in
Neverending Boss Battle (when I'm writing this guide) is 9,290 points. The
highest possible score is 17,495 points before TNT reviews it. When I take part into its WC Competition,
I often loose against true gamers. But sometimes I do win (against "newbies"). So you have to wisely
choose when to enter a WC Competition and send your scores and when you need to wait.
Note : If I classified
Bruno's Blackwoods Breakaway under the second category
(yellow background) it's because this Flash Game is a "Limited Points Game", i.e. you can't go
above 5,180 points. Hence whenever there is a WC Competition for that particular game, it is hard
to win one of it since almost all your opponents will only send scores of 5,180 points (you'll find
below how to win a WC Competition). Therefore, it is difficult to win (even though you send the
highest possible score).

Step 2 :
Where can I find a
World Challenge game ?
Once you've selected some Flash Games from the first two categories (green and yellow backgrounds),
open the corresponding game page and look at the bottom of it. You should see the following image
on your screen:
The image figuring the Earth (or Neopia?) will link you to the region of Neopia to which the Flash
Game you've selected belongs. On this new screen, you'll see which WC games are available for that
day.
Note : Popular Flash Games such as
Hasee Bounce,
Destruct-O-Match II,
Faerie Cloud Racers, etc. are available every day so if you're good in one of those popular
Flash Games, then you can daily take part into their WC Competitions and I hope you'll win. Some
other Flash Games are less popular (for example:
Neverending Boss Battle) so don't expect to
see its WC Competition very often :(

Step 3 :
How do I win a
World Challenge Competition ?
Ok, you've made your selection (your Flash Games with green and/or yellow background) and one of your
Flash Games is available as a WC game for that day.
If you haven't already played
your daily 3 games, then start first by playing a game and try to get your highest possible score. If
you're not satisfied with your score (or if it is not high enough to win against your opponents), then
restart a new game. If you're satisfied, then pay the 100 Neopoints fees to enter the corresponding WC
Competition. Never start by paying that fees if you can't send a sufficiently high score afterwards (i.e.
you may have wasted 100 Neopoints for nothing!!!) However if you already played your daily 3 games, then
you have to pay first the fees and then click on the link provided in the grey background at the top of
the WC game page.
So you've got a high score to send. Pay the 100 Neopoints fees to enter the corresponding WC Competition
and then send your score. If it's a popular Flash Game, you'll have to wait for a few seconds or a few
minutes (another Neopians will send his/her score and will be compared to yours). If it's not a popular
game, you may have to wait up to a few hours :o to see your username in the list of gamers who take part
into that WC Competition. Now there are three possible scenarios :
- You WIN!
Congratulations !! You've made a great step towards a WC winner! Look your
ranking now. If you're above an horizontal line, it means that you're in a good position to win your WC
Competition (Tally). If you're under that horizontal line, then click on the link provided by TNT
(Hour's HS, i.e. highest score of the hour and Score Totals, i.e. highest total score of the
hour) to see if you're above the horizontal line for those parallel WC tables (see the screenshots below).
If yes, you still can win even though you're under the horizontal line for the default ranking (Tally).
If no, you'll have to send another score to either go up (if you win again) or go down (if you loose).
Whenever you win against a randomly chosen opponent, you get +1.
- You LOOSE!
Well definitely you'll have to send another score since
you can't win a WC Competition with a negative tally! Whenever you loose against a randomly chosen
opponent, you get -1.
- You TIE!
Well it's extremely rare to draw with a randomly chosen opponent because it
means that you and your opponent did send the same (high) score. Whenever you tie against a randomly
chosen opponent, you get 0, i.e. you neither win nor loose. However since your tally isn't negative you
are still qualified for a WC winner if you did send a very high score. If it's not the case, you'll need to
send another score. Again check all rankings to see if you're at least once above the horizontal line.
Below I've taken three screenshots of the same
Destruct-O-Match II WC Competition:
As you can see, you can win in 3 different ways:
- Best Tally
The more you win against randomly chosen opponents, the greater will be your
Tally. To see your ranking, just refresh the page as it's the ranking by default (or click on
Tally). If the ranking by default is "Best Tally", it's because you need a tally greater or
equal to 0 in order to be eligible to win a WC Competition. You immediately see if you match that
requirement or not. The top screenshot shows you that Opponent_A to
Opponent_F and myself are eligible to win that WC Competition. Opponent_A,
Opponent_B and myself are above the horizontal line. It means that we are in position
to effectively win that WC Competition.
- Highest Score of the hour
The higher your score, the greater chance you'll win a WC
Competition. To see your ranking, click on Hour's HS. The second screenshot
shows you that Opponent_A, Opponent_E and myself are above the horizontal line.
It means that we are in position to effectively win that WC Competition. As you can see,
Opponent_E has a Tally of 0 and is ranked in 6th position in the "Best Tally" WC Table
(i.e. he is UNDER the horizontal line for that WC Table) but he managed
to send a sufficiently high score to be ABOVE the horizontal line in the
"Highest Score of the hour" WC Table. Now you see why the first step is so important!
- Highest Total of Scores of the hour
The more you play, the greater your Total Score. To see
your ranking, click on Score Totals. The third screenshot shows you that
Opponent_D, Opponent_A and myself are above the horizontal line. It means that we
are in position to effectively win that WC Competition. Again as you can see,
Opponent_D has a Tally of 0 and is ranked in 5th position in the "Best Tally" WC Table
(i.e. he is UNDER the horizontal line for that WC Table) but he managed
to send sufficiently enough scores to be ABOVE the horizontal line in the
"Highest Total of Scores of the hour" WC Table. Again, you see why the first step is so important! And did
you notice that Opponent_H has the third Highest Total of Scores of the hour ? If he doesn't
win that WC Competition, it's simply because his Tally is negative (-3) !!
Some remarks
- As you can see, Opponent_A and myself are above the horizontal line in
each WC Table. It doesn't mean that both of us win three times. Indeed you can only
win once per hour and the amount of Neopoints awarded aren't always the highest ones (see the screenshot
and its explanation below)
- If you want to win a WC Competition with a high score, then only send ONE VERY HIGH score. Why ? TNT
has defined an ordrer of importance (1st : Best Tally, 2nd : Score Totals and 3rd : Hour's HS) Since the
rankings for the "Highest Score of the hour" have the lowest importance, your Tally will be considered
first, then it's your total of scores (see the screenshot and its explanation below)
- In rare case of equality (i.e. you tied with a randomly chosen opponent or you're at the top of the
table with the same highest score) I can't tell you how it works (what are TNT's criteria to say you come
first or you come second ?). It often happens when you play Bruno's Blackwoods Breakaway WC game.

What do I get if I win a
World Challenge Competition ?
First of all, you need to wait till the next hour come. Between
X:00:00 and
X:03:00, the results
of the previous hour are official, i.e. if you :
- ended the WC Competition of the previous hour with a non-negative tally
- AND your username was at least once above the horizontal line
then you'll receive from TNT an automatic neomail which confirms your WC winner. If one of the above conditions
isn't satisfied, then you won't receive your prizes. You can also click on
Previous Hour's Results to
see all details of the previous hours. Below I've taken the corresponding official results of the above
Destruct-O-Match II WC Competition:
As you can see, I've put in bold the Neopians who effectively managed to get a WC winner. Opponent_A,
Opponent_B, Opponent_D, Opponent_E and myself won that
Destruct-O-Match II WC Competition (see the green box which surrounds the rewards in Neopoints).
Opponent_A, Opponent_B and myself won the "Best Tally" rewards.
Opponent_D won the "Highest Total of Scores of the hour" rewards with the 2nd
highest total of scores.
Opponent_E won the "Highest Score of the hour" rewards with the 3rd highest score.
Although Opponent_C did end with a positive non-zero tally, he never occupied a rank above the
horizontal line in any WC Tables (see the above 3 screenshots).
And as I already said, Opponent_H could have won that WC Competition since he had the
3rd highest total of scores. However, he has a negative tally (-3) and hence don't satisfy one of the
two conditions that I've just mentioned before.
Below, there are two screenshots of two consecutive Hasee Bounce WC Competitions:
If I took that screenshots, it's because I wanted to show you something very curious. Look at the highest score
sent by Opponent_A (284 points). Did you notice that this score is the lowest high score of the
previous hour ? As I said it before, your opponent are randomly chosen. Therefore, Opponent_A had a
great great luck to win 3 times (i.e. each time he sent a score!!). Now look at Opponent_Js high
score (449 points). It's the 3rd highest score of the hour :o And he... LOST :o Well definitely
Opponent_J had a bad bad luck since only two Neopians did send a better score and with his high
score he only could loose against one of them :o :( You CAN win a WC Competition with luck but it is rare. So
always remember to first complete the first step of this WC guide to maximize your odds to win a WC Competition.
I've taken this screenshot to give you an example of what I've written under "Some Remarks". Here you can see
that Opponent_A, Opponent_B and Opponent_C won the "Best Tally"
rewards (there is a little "1" near their tally). I won the "Highest Score of the hour" rewards since I sent
the highest score of the hour (and you can see a little "2" next to my score of 432 points. Opponent_F
has the 2nd highest score of the hour (420 points) and he could have won 375 Neopoints.
However since he sent two scores, he won the "Highest Total of Scores of the hour" rewards (there is a little
"3" near his total of scores). And since he had the 3rd highest total of scores, he only won 188
Neopoints. I repeat again: If you want to win a WC Competition with a high score, then only send ONE VERY
HIGH score. And this also confirmed what I said before, that is you don't always win the highest amount of
Neopoints (see the above first remark).
Now, you won a WC Competition ? So you got a neomail from TNT which confirmed your WC winner. The amount of
Neopoints is automatically added to your total of Neopoints (top right corner). Now go to your inventory and
you'll find an item. This is what TNT calls a "piece of artwork". Below, an example of piece of artwork:
Neopia Central 1.11 WC Piece
|
Do you remember what I said in the second step of this WC guide? Each Flash Game belongs to a region of Neopia.
When you win a WC Competition, you get a piece of artwork of the region of Neopia to which the Flash Game you've
chosen belongs. Pieces of artwork are tradables items, so you can find them in shops and in the Trading Post. But
you can also collect a set and try to convert a WC image:
Note: To be able to convert a WC image, you have to collect all 20 pieces of artwork which form a WC image.
Each piece of artwork has two informations in its name:
- the region of Neopia (for example: Neopia Central, Space Station, etc)
- the numbers 1.XX, 2.XX, 3.XX where 1, 2 and 3 stands for the WC first, second and third image
respectively of particular region of Neopia
Therefore, if you want to convert the Space Station first WC image, you need to collect 20 different pieces of
artwork (from
Space Station 1.1 WC Piece to
Space Station 1.20 WC Piece).
When
you convert a WC image, you automatically get 2,000 Neopoints and a randomly chosen item !! (take a
look at my gallery
here). You see that it's worth to take part into WC Competitions !
So once you've converted a WC image, you can't use the pieces of artwork of the converted WC image (you have the
above screenshot on your screen)
Note: The above screenshot shows that my second Space Station WC image isn't already converted (as I'm
writing this WC guide) because I haven't collected all pieces of artwork which form that WC image. Since this WC
image isn't converted, I can use the pieces of artwork that I placed there by clicking on "Inventory". By doing
so I now have the corresponding piece(s) of artwork in my inventory and I can put it in my shop or in the Trading
Post. But since I can get good items from converting WC images, I only put in my shop or exchange in the Trading
Post doubled piece(s) of artwork. Each time you win a WC Competition, you obtain a randomly chosen piece of
artwork. Due to randomness, some pieces of artwork are harder to get and hence have a greater value. So you may
win 6 times the same piece of artwork before getting one that you don't already have in your WC gallery ;)
FINAL WORDS:
I believe that it's the easiest way to get paint brushes (apart getting one from a random event). And you get
Neopoints every time you win a WC Competition and when you convert a WC image. So there is a lot of small profit
before getting an item which can give you a great profit !! Moreover, once you converted all WC images of a
particular region of Neopia, you can restart from the beginning, i.e. restart collecting pieces of artwork of the
first WC image of that particular region !! In the long run, you may have a lot of high valued items by only
converting those WC images :O :D
