Introduction

Welcome to my font help page...

Hello guest, welcome to my font help page. It will give you all the basics you need to know about how to make a font. Before you start, you may want to take a look at the Chat Rules.

The Basics

If you like, you can start of your font using a Alley's Premades and then use this guide to tweak it.

To start making your font, hold your mouse over the word Boards at the top of the page, and select the word, Preferences from the drop down menu. You should come to a page that looks like this.

The first step to making your font, is creating the base, your first set of tags. Every font starts off with this code.
TEXTHERE
Always put a / after the [ in the second tag to end the command. Whenever you want to change the font size, color, font face etc., create a new set of tags.

To make this font your neoHTML (the message that you will be typing on the neoBoards) You need to put in the word neoHTML where it says, TEXTHERE. You must have the the word neoHTML between tags once in your neoHTML. It cannot be in your NeoSignature. This way your message will always be, for example, green, bold, etc.

Change Color

To change the color of your font simply add in, c=NAMEOFCOLORHERE, after the first word font. To have more specific colors, you may want to use a hex code, which is a series of six numbers and letters to make up a color. Instead of using 'blue', you can use the hex code #4993E6 for a more defined shade. If you are using a hex code, you need to put the # symbol after the equal sign. (c=#HXCODE)
Examples:

Tip: If you have ran out of room, you can savor a few characters by chopping off the last letter of your hexcode or deleting the #. However, your font will no longer be compatible with servers such as Firefox!

Change Font Face

To change the style, or "font face" of your font simply add f=FFHERE in the first tag.
Example:

Change Size

To change the size of your font add, s=NUMBERHERE. Your font size can be any whole number 1 through 7.
Example:

Center Your Font

If you want your whole font centered, put the tag at the beginning of your NeoHTML and at the end of your NeoSig. If you only want part of your font centered you can adjust where you place the tags to fit your needs.
Examples:

Break/Paragraph

To continue your font on a new line, use the tags [br] for break(small space between lines) or [p] for paragraph(larger space between lines) wherever you want it to start on a new line. You do not need to use an end tag with the / symbol in this case. You can use break/paragraph between the same set of tags or different sets of tags.
Examples:

Siggy Line

Lastly, do you want to get rid of that pesky dotted line between your NeoHTML and your NeoSignature called the "siggy line"? Well no problem! It is very simple, just put a [ at the very end of your NeoHTML and a ] at the very beginning of you NeoSiggnature and problem solved!
Example:

Bold/Italic/Underline

Your font can be bold, itallic, or underlined. Just use these tags, TEXTHERE(for bold), TEXTHERE(for itallics), and TEXTHERE(for underline).

Congratulations! Now you know most of the basics of how to make your own font. Remember: You can use all of the codes (s=SIZEHERE,f=FONTFACEHERE, and c=COLORHERE) in the same set of tags, using any 1,2, or all of them, in any order. But whenever you want to change the size, color, or font face, you need to create a new set of tags. I have created an example font that shows much of what we've learned. If you can understand the code below, then you are ready for the next step!

Webdings and Wingdings

You may have seen people on the boards who have niffty pictures/symbols in their font. This is because of special font faces called wingdings/webdings. These font faces make ordinary letters and symbols create pictures on the NeoBoards. Note: Wingdings/webdings does not work on all browsers, particularly not Firefox. So if you are using one of these browsers you will not see webdings and wingdings. You can find a wingdings/webdings chart on sunnyneo. (see credits)
Example:

As you can see the capital N in your coding creates the image of a skull and crossbones in your font.

Sub/sup

You can also use the command sub (for subscript), and sup(for superscript). Sub puts what ever is between the tags below normal text. Sup puts whatever is between the tags above normal text.
[sub]TEXTHERE[/sub] [sup]TEXTHERE[/sup]
Example:

Invisible Font

Ever seen a font of the board where you have to highlight it to see what it says? Or maybe you have but didn't realize it! How do you make these spiffy fonts? Well, unfortunately it is against the rules to make your neoHTML invisible, as said in editorial issue 177:

How do you make your font invisible? You know, the font that you can only see if you highlight it. I have been trying to figure it out forever. Thanks. - niikh
Doing this is against our chat terms as the monitors cannot see what you are typing. If you do this you WILL be warned. If you keep doing this, you may end up suspended or frozen.

Of course it ISN'T against the rules to use an invisible font to off-center something in your font. To make an invisible font simply make it the color white or a color very close to white. Use the hexcode #FFFFF for white. For some reason white fonts don't work on firefox, so you can use #FEFFFF.
Example:

List of Hex Codes

This is a new section of the page that is currently undergoing construction. It will give you hex codes(color codes) to match all the avatars. The avatars are in alphabetical order,(not including defaults, which are at the end). I will take special request for adding colors.

This really started to stretch out the page, so at least for now I will move it here.
