Darkness settled over Krawk Island. The midnight tides swirled over the dark sand on the beaches, casting strange and watery shadows in their wake. A soft breeze blew, rustling the dark palm branches of the few trees and stirring the already cool air into small whirls. You stepped lightly along the beach, not wanting to wake some of the pirates who snored away in the shadows of the few trees and ridges. You rounded a curve in the beach, coming around a great gray rock formation. There were no pirates here, so you relaxed into a normal and slightly noisy pace. You watched the tide come in and out... such a mesmerizing pattern. You had stopped and stood where you were, wondering if the tide was always like this... always so peaceful and-

Jus' what arr ya doin'? A sharp voice cut through your thoughts. Keep that starin' up an' you'll end up out in th' water jus' like so many before ya.

You whipped around, startled. There, only a few feet away, stood a tall pirate peophin stallion. He cocked his head at you and raised an eyebrow, his charcoal mane rippling over his shoulders with the movement.

Me grandfather and Pa before me were scallywags, an' I'll be darned if any decedents of mine become somethin' other than pirates. Anyway, I were raised on me grandpa's ship, The Fog.

Grandpa ran a tight ship, never let no-one get away with nothin'. He learned me all about discipline and workin' fer what you wants. I treats me crew the same way, no slack is ever cut.
