As a creator of graphic layouts, I love to use already made Neopet images. My source had always been from the Neopet's background page, because they were big and easy to make into layouts, but a while back someone told me that SWFs were also possible to use.

What are SWFs ?
A SWF is a file format for multimedia (wikipedia yay) and is often used for displaying animated vectors. This is what Neopets uses to display customization on pets, as the images you see are flash files.

Individually, these images can be seen at a large scale, letting us clearly see detail of many things such as NC Backgrounds or foregrounds, which are often animated.

This page is a collection of customization items, all which link to their respective SWF. The main focus is on NC backgrounds, as those are generally the most eye-catching. To view a SWF, click on the item you are interested in.

How to use SWFs

I've gotten a lot of questions about this; you cannot directly use the URL (not that I know of at least - please mail me if I'm wrong).

First of all, these are free for anyone to use, as they are just Neopet images. You do not need to credit me at all! Go crazy.

To use a SWF in your graphics, first select which one you'd like to use.

Press "Print Screen" on your keyboard. This will capture what you see into an image. The key may appear as PrtScn or other variations, depending on the keyboard.

Open an image program, such as Paint, Photoshop, PSP, etc. Paste the image and edit it to however you like. If the SWF you've chosen is animated, choose the frame you like best.

If you want your image to be animated as you see in your SWF, you'll have to animate it yourself. You can use Animation shop, for example, and screenie each frame separately before putting them together. I'm unfamiliar with flash programs, so there might be an easier way to do it there, I'm not sure :(

No, you don't need to. These SWFs all belong to Neopets and are free for everyone to use. I just like to collect SWFs and put them all into one page. However, if you do mention me, that would be quite nice ^^.

How do I use these?

Most likely, yes, as long as it is a customization item. Just state the full name of the item in neomail and I'll put it on here!

Currently, I only know how to do it in Safari as well as Chrome. I'm sure other browsers have their own way, and I'll find them when I get a chance.
