Want to borrow avatar items for low collateral or FREE?

:| Then stop making boards and wait for someone to actually offer it to you.

Why is making a board asking for free 50x50 pixels bad??

1. Making a board hints at some expectancy that you'll get it. Which leads to my next point that it is horrifically--
2. Rude.
3. It decreases the value of other people's time and hard work they actually put into earning their avatar items.
4. If you're going to play a challenging game where you're expected to earn everything for yourself, but are too lazy to, why play at all?
5. ACers know who makes a board every day with the same low (or no) collateral. You are NOT ever going to be lent when others can see you are clearly not even trying in attempts to save your "potential lender" a little bit of the effort!

Please Note! This has nothing to do with lenders.
This page is directed strictly to people who make boards on the Avatar or *Battledome Chat boards, asking for avatar items for low or no collateral at all. And I am here to tell you that if you want something low/free, you have to wait and look for it. Don't expect it to come to you because you can't bother to get it yourself. This game is supposed to be a challenge to some people. Obviously, people think otherwise.

(*If you're borrowing avatar items that just so happen to be Battledome items, you still shouldn't even be in the BDC in the first place because your reasons for borrowing are strictly avatar related! And as it is my understanding, straying ACers looking to borrow items from BDCers is a strong reason why many BDCers don't like the AC in general! Stop promoting tension and stay on topic!)

But some are SO EXPENSIVE!

Please note! High-price items like MSPP, SuAP, Meowclops, and BGC are currently somewhat irrelevant (though not entirely!) because for the average player starting out, it would take several years to earn full collateral, and by then the price would only increase more.

This has nothing to do with the skill of new players. Plenty of people joining neopets for the first time can earn neopoints just fine, no one is saying they are incompetent. UNFORTUNATELY, even people who have been playing for several months or even years cannot seem to earn their full collateral.

THIS IS NORMAL.

Why? Because Neopets is a game. Games are supposed to be challenging. If you can't accept that challenge, maybe you should find something else to do.

What types of avatar items can you earn for yourself?
With your average 20k-a-day guide you can earn the following for yourself within one year:

Scroll of Dark Nova (20k, ONE DAY)
Icy Snowflake (65k, less than 4 days)
Robo Item (price varies, 2-4 days)
Codestones (80k-100k, less than 5 days)
Hidden Tower neopoints (*600k, one month)
Faerie Queen Doll (1,700,000, 85 days)
Chokato (TCG) (2,000,000, one hundred days)
Zafara Double Agent Plushie (2,500,000, 125 days)

Anything worth less that is not on this list, you should not even consider borrowing. Buy it yourself.

(*600k; Baby Paint Brushes are NOT the cheapest items in the Hidden Tower, but you will lose the least possible amount if you resell it ~ 600k - 585k resell = 15k loss.)

Here's a thought! If you can earn at least half collateral, you can earn the rest of it.

So. Where are all of these 20k-a-day guides?
I'll tell you!

There are plenty more where that came from. You know that nifty thing, what's it called, Google?? Yep. Go ahead. Don't be shy. Just look up "20k a day, neopets" or "50k a day, neopets", what have you. It's alright, Google doesn't bite.

What's it like getting stuff for free?

A lot of people feel really lucky after they've been lent something free, and for obvious reasons. But what about the other people you don't notice lurking on your boards?...

Here are some analogies:

1. Borrowing an avatar item for free is like joining a game of Monopoly six hours late and claiming the most expensive provinces for yourself--without catching up.
Borrowing for low collateral is like joining a game of Monopoly six hours late and saying, Okay, I'll go around the board once, but then I get the most expensive provinces. Not much of a difference--but you tried. A little.

2. Borrowing an avatar item for free is like taking your friend's car on a cross-country trip, wahoo! ...And not paying them back for the full tank of gas you consumed.
Borrowing for low collateral is like taking your friend's car on a cross-country trip and paying for half/third/etc. of what was in the tank.

3. Borrowing an avatar item for free is like taking your friends to your cousin's four-story mansion by the sea and saying "I did this.
Borrowing for low collateral is like taking your friends to your cousin's mansion by the sea and saying "I did this. My cousin helped a little.
