You look up into the azure sky and spot a object flying by. You hold your breath as you examine it, but all you can catch a glance of is a soft, purple underbelly, and a stretch of violently beautiful wings. You let out a sigh as she passes. Soon, night comes, and you are left in the field looking at the moon and stars starring back at you. You find your way back to the village from which you came, still in wonder of the mythical beast. As you put down your pack by the fire of your friends you mention the great animal which you came upon. A hush spreads thought the circle like wildfire. Finally, one speaks: "You saw that angle of the sky?" in a whisper. "Well, yes. She flew over me in the direction of the hills." "That is the queen. The queen of the sky and night, and all within it. Queen of the moon and stars. Queen Ellesmeran.

Welcome to my abode. This is my home, my palace, my galaxy. Most people think that stars are burning balls of fire and gas. I know different. I know what they really are. I understand them. I am them. I am the night. The starts, the moon, everything. Welcome.

-invalid_words- There they were, the world that was unknown. Stretching, multiplying, broadening. How could so great a world be left unknown?
The stars twinkled back, as if agreeing. The hazy mist of a dark night began to drift into her view. Laying face up on the soft Meridellian grass Elle softly sang to the night sky. Her voice swam into the chilled night air, raising to the stars she desperately wanted to be with.

Elllllleeeeeeee!" A scream pierced the night, shattering the peace. "Ellesmeran! Are you out there! Come in and clean up!" Off in the distance a dark shadow stood on a hill gazing down toward her. With a sigh Elle said goodbye to her friendly stars and began to walk slowly home.
Pushing open the battered door she stepped into a room flooded with light. Squinting her eyes she made her way to the table and began to clear. "Carina, where's mom?" she asked as she put the dishes in the sink.
She had to go to work! She said she was able to pick up three extra hours overtime working at Kayla's. We need the money you know. Moms working 60 hour weeks, I'm working at the poker table as a waitress, and what do you do? Sit out there starring at the stars? Were in a war! The whole town has it bad, but you are still daydreaming!"
Carina, you think I don't know that we need help?
Well you sure don't act like it! Anyone who really cared about the family would do something".
Ellesmeran dropped a dish into the soapy water and ran from the room. She closed the door of the second room in the two room house. They didn't understand! Things happen! When she is out with the night, things happen! But deep down she knew Carina was right. They needed money, badly. With 3 mouths to feed and the house to keep up they were in trouble. She knew she should be willing to give up her stars, but she couldn't. They were her life, her love, her friends. But there was one thing she could do.
She lay in bed watching the crack under the door. No light, no shadows, it was time. She stealthily dropped her feet on the floor, grabbing the rucksack under the bed. She opened the door a crack, then another, and another until she could just about pass through it. She creeped to the open window and shoved it outside, slightly damaging the roses bellow. Then swinging herself out the window, she was free!
A gust of wind filled with the sweet sent of dew and night rushed to meet her. Stooping to pick up her pack she began to walk. By daybreak she had entered Brightvale and was found by a armorer under a lush tree. Shaking her awake she sat up slight dazed. Looking around she saw trees dripping with fruit of all colors, stores advertising books and potions, and far off in the distance was the castle. Thanking the kind man she stumbled off in the direction of the fruit trees- she was famished.
She found a tree exhibiting fruit with bright yellow and orange stripes. Reaching out the pluck one off the bountiful tree a stick came out and slightly smacked her hand. Looking up she saw a green Acara with a stern look on her face. "Them be my fruits you be planning to pinch!"
I'm sorry ma'am, I didn't know! I was just so hungry, and they looked so delightfully fresh!"
The Acara's face softened, "Ah well, alright, you can take un, but just don't do it again!" She sternly walked off in the direction of town. Elle pulled off the largest of the fruit and quickly turned around, spotting the woman.
Excuse me! Ma'am! Would you happen to know what direction the Haunted Woods are?" The woman pointed and continued walking.
With fruit juice on her chin and two ripe berries in her sack Elle turned and walked in the direction the shopkeeper had pointed. She was going to the Haunted Woods. It is said that in Neovian woods is a witch. Not that Edna, or Sophie, but a real witch! She trained, and looked after the people who came to her for help. Maybe she could help he understand why when she cries the stars are gone, why when she laughs the mists spread to revel shining lights, and why when she sings the stars dance. Maybe.
Three days later Elle found herself in Neovia itself. The ghostly graveyard led her to a gate, opening into the town. There was no need to ask for directions in this town for the woods were pain enough to see. With no money there was no need to enter any stores so she made her way directly to the edge of the woods. There was no path to follow because only the worthy could be graced with the presence of the One.
Taking her first step into true adventure Elle began her journey. Making her way over the rocks and tree roots, and under the branches and spider webs Ellesmeran traveled farther and farther into the forest until if she had turned around no light could be found. Her only comfort was that looking up into the mesh of branches you could see patch after patch of sky, dotted with stars.
After who knows how long she stumbled over yet another tree root and fell onto a clear spot of earth. Groaning she looked around her. She was lost. Trees closed in on her from every angle, leaves dusted the ground, and no one knows where she is. She crawled to the nearest tree, huddling against the rough bark she began to cry. She cried like she hadn't done for years.
She must have fallen asleep for when she next looked around the forest was pitch black. Rubbing her eyes she felt a sticky wetness on her face. She stood up, and looked. She looked for anything, and finally found herself staring at the sky. She gazed at the stars, willing them to help her. Nothing. She hadn't expected anything anyway. Sighing she admitted that she was on her own. She looked back up to her loves, still nothing. Wait. What was that? An odd pattern, one she had not see before. Seeing that urged her to take a step, then another, then another until she was jogging, looking up at the stars every few feet. Then she was running, driven by some wild force. She was flying, she was the night!
She felt her foot hit something- hard. She really was flying. And then she wasn't. She hit the ground-hard. Groaning she looked around, and saw a foot. Then, looking higher, a leg, then torso and head. It was her.
Ellesmeran, my daughter, you have come! I hoped you would, and now you have!"
Elle stuttered, trying to find something, anything, to say until finally she blurted out: "I need help!" The witch inclined her head and motioned for her to follow. Stumbling up she did. They walked in silence, only the crunching of dead leaves under their feet disturbing the silence. They walked until they came to a clearing, the trees forming a perfect circle around them. Now that they were in better light Elle could clearly see the beauty of the witch. Her long black hair had light streaks of gold and blue. Her face, slightly pointed at her chin, had a small, elegant nose, and eyes that would haunt the hearts of many men. She wore a dark purple gown, almost black, with a shimmering silver transparent over coat. The way the silver twinkled against the purple made Ellesmeran think of her stars. This reminded her of what she had planned to say.
Welcome Elle!" Her voice was soft, caressing, like a whisper of wind in the trees. "Now, why have you come?"
I need help. I- You- I don't understand what is happening. The stars, night, the moon, they- and I- So we- and you..." She began to stutter uncontrollably, trying to get a hold over herself she stopped talking altogether.
You want to understand the connection with the stars you have?" She prompted, giving Elle a life line.
Yes, do you know? They do things around me, magical things! And on the way here! Something happened! I don't know what, I can't explain it!"
Ellesmeran, the affects you have on the stars is only natural for someone like you!
...Someone like... me?"
You are, after all, the goddess of the night.

Such love of life far to few.
