where shall I start

The cold wind whistles through your hair. Pulling your hood on tighter you slowly make your way across the frozen arctic. In the silence the loud crunch of your boots on the snow echos off the glaciers. Quietly you mumble to yourself as you try to remember why on Earth you made the crazy decision to come here in the first place. You squint your eyes as you try to see through the snow flurries and there up ahead their is a strange flickering. You walk closer to investigate and realize that you are standing in front of a small cave and their is light coming from within. You quickly run forward to enter the cave only thinking how great a shelter would be right now. As you look up you realize the cavern is much larger than you expected and the light is coming from glowing crystals splayed all across the cave walls. A amused giggle comes from behind you, making you jump. Turning you find yourself face to face with a dragon of some sort. The dragon eyes you inquiringly. You seem lost and cold, why don't you stay for awhile? After all it's not often that I get visitors. I promise I won't harm you. You nod considering it's the only thing too do when your dealing with a massive beast with sharp teeth. The dragons face lights up happily. Well while you get warm I'll tell you about me and my kin. I guarantee you it's a story you haven't heard of before...

Hello guest and welcome to my application for Colesk. I hope you enjoy reading this application but before we get started...

Disclaimer: I made this application for Colesk because I want to show how much I care about her and would like for her to join our family. I was in no way forced to make it and made it of my own free will.

Forgive me if its a little complicated or confusing, I put I lot of thought into it and there's a lot of things to it.

Her Name

It makes us who we are

Colette is Colesk's first name. It is a Greek-French name meaning victorious. Her parents chose this name in high hopes of what their daughter would do and become in the future. It is a name of strength. However, Colesk didn't find the name very appealing and so instead of going by it she went by a nickname instead. Colesk being her nickname, was derived from her naturally cold personality at times, and her essence of air. Soon the name stuck and she became known as Colesk or the Cold Essence.

Then her middle name Leanna is also French. The name was not chosen for the specific meaning, but it is a name most often meaning lioness depicting fierceness. Or as a variation of Liana it is the name of a plant, meaning to twine around, so to be stubborn and persistent.

Finally, her last name is Auguste. The origin is unclear, although is thought to be from France or Rome. The meaning is believed to be derived of Augustus which means venerable or sacred. Her family is just that, considering they are an old family and hold a lot of respect.

Each of the pieces of jewelry on Colesk symbolize a piece of her family. She loves the trinkets as little memories of them all that she can keep close at hand. The coral beads represent her father as he was of the sea. They are blue specifically to match him in coloration. The necklace is a traditional Maori jade necklace known as a koru, that is the symbol of a fern unfurling. It represents growth, strength, peace, all representing her mother. Then her bracelets represent her sister. Since they were born on the same day and their birthstone was a sapphire for them both. Amelie took a pink sapphire and Colesk the blue. A pink sapphire was once thought to ward off misfortune. While a blue sapphire was thought to give clarity and perception. Both daughters received the birthstone they needed most. Then the center lazuli stone is the countries symbol, representing safety. The gold band on her tail really does not have a clear meaning, however gold is thought to symbolize success and so it would make sense why Colesk would use it for luck.

Colesk is medium sized Illumier. Her celestial dragon appearance is of lithe build. It twists and is as flexible as a snake. She has two front legs as well as in the back distinguishing her from a Lindworm. Then her lack of wings tells her apart of a Knucker. The dragon species she has taken the appearance of is more like a relative of an Asian Lung or Tibetan dragon. When an Illumier shifts they also have control of the coloration of the creature. However, Colesk's coloration adopted the natural coloration of her spirit form. It consists of a mixture of blues for her scales/skin, green/tealish fur. She approximately weighs 1000 pounds and is 17'2 feet from her nose to tail. Although, she is actually only 5'9 ft. in height. This is generally small for a dragon of that type, especially since she is female.
I also really wanted to have a quad reference to use for Colesk. Since I couldn't draw her I searched all over for a picture that reminded me and was close to what she looked like. This image is going to be Colesk's quad ref. for now.

I considered doing a design with wings instead. So in the future if I get to adopt Colesk, this might be another possibility eventually. Well, once I learn how to draw better wings.

Colesk's biggest fear is something she can never be rid of; herself. Although she puts on a confident look for everyone else, she has a habit of doubting herself. To almost anything physically she is invincible but when it comes to her own thoughts and feeling, they can betray her. She tries to wall it all up and keep it hidden but its not always a possible feat to accomplish.

Colesk is a specialty Illumier with the element or essence of Air, thus giving her the power to control and warp light and air. All of the Illumi are mainly creatures of light but only a few possess the heightened power to work with another element and do stronger things with it. The power allows her to move at incredible speeds from place to place without the use of wings. Colesk's ability of air is to command it at will. Weather it's a large gale force wind or just a slight breeze, Colesk is capable of either. Although keep in mind that when dealing with the elements the Illumi mainly request or suggest for the element to do something, it is extremely difficult to actually control it. Air is especially difficult and one of the hardest to use. Colesk's powers for now are kind of undetermined in the fact that their are different combination's that her powers can do. So it is not a definite list.

Colesk is ardent and very determined by nature and when focused upon something she won't back down till she has accomplished whatever she set out to do. Along with her strong will Colesk has a more serious personality and is not one to fool or joke around. Her serious side comes off kind cold sometimes but often it is just because she is that way. Even though she seems distant Colesk is a more caring person then you would realize. Her heart is in the right place and she has always thought about others. She often found herself guilty for having so much. Colesk enjoys doing little things for others to get a smile here or there. However, to do something bigger was a hard step for her to take. Even so, Colesk can also come across as an unpleasant person due to her quick tempered attitude. She is not a person of a lot of patience and therefore she isn't a people person. That is one trait she really has to work on. With her "I can do myself" complex accepting help and interacting with others is often difficult. She is far from being timid though and walks with a confident air and is rarely daunted by anything. Confidence can lead you down a bad path sometimes though and often Colesk will act rashly because of it. Her stubbornness ties into this as well because Colesk will make designs based on her own liking and not focus on the opinions of others. When acting out of confidence and her boldness Colesk often is known for making decisions and saying things without thinking them through. In the end it has given her not the best reputation and has others focusing more on her negative qualities, rather than her good.

Behind the name: Samiir is of Arabic origin ans simply means companion. The names of the lesser spirits are often simple and refer to their appearance or purpose.

Lesser spirits? Lesser spirits are creatures that hold limited power and are tiny in comparison to an Illumier. Like an Illumier they come in may colors and forms. They are the equivalent of a dog to us. Lesser spirits are really intelligent creatures that long for Illumier company and are willing to please.

Lesser spirits however are only companions of the Illumi who are specialties. When young and the powers of an special Illumier start to show they are taken to Leru Valley. The lesser spirits make their home there. Upon sensing an Illumier one of the spirits will bond with the Illumier. When the lesser chooses it will glow/flash the colors of the Illumier, and so it is chosen.

The lesser spirits act almost as a talisman or a child's rattle to the young Illumier. They will help focus the child's power and abilities. As well as, strengthen them once the Illumier has learned how to maintain their abilities. From then on out the lesser spirit is simply a companion and friend to the Illumier as their bond grows. However, they will still always be stronger when together.

Ariana: Ariana is Colesk's mother. She is a specialty Illumier whose essence is Earth. Her physical form is that of a Kirin. Ariana has a kind and soft-hearted nature. She always is wanting to be helpful in any way and is one who doesn't stop to think,when someone is in need of help. Ariana is fierce and protective though when it comes to the things she cares a lot about. Even so, she finds it hard to be mean to anyone.

Mathius: Mathius is Colesk's father. He as well is a specialty Illumier and his element is Water. His physical form is what you'd call a Hippocamp. Mathius has always been the arrogant type and always strong-willed. He does what he thinks is right and speaks his mind. He holds the respect of many though and is one many look to in times of trouble. You could say he has those leadership qualities in him. Due to his nature Ariana's sweet, docile nature kinda offsets his. So they have always balanced the other out to form a perfect match.

Amelie: Amelie was Colesk's dear sister. She was always the smaller or the two. As the Illumiers say she was born with a lesser light and didn't live for very long. Her and Colesk were always the best of friends though and could tell each other anything. Amelie was not a specialty Illumier, or at least it was never discovered in her short lifetime. Her form though is a Kelpie though, half land and half water just like both parents. Amelie had a gentle, shy, and timid nature. She was always hesitant and wary in doing new things. It was only due to Colesk persuading that she would go along and do things. Amelie always had a soft spoken attitude and often tended to be more on the clumsy side. Regardless she was loved by many.

Deandra: Deandra is one of the two queens of Orterrais. She is the Queen of Darkness as they say. Her form is a likeness of one of the hounds of the Hunt or shadow hound. Favonrrah is her sister and her other half that balances her. Deandra is not the cruel type however she wields an immense temper and has a short fuse. She often does things to her pleasure and is a hard one to bargain with. She enjoys her power and sometimes gets carried away with it. The best thing to do with Deandra is to show respect at all times and watch yourself so that you only speak when spoken to, or when asked.

Favonrrah: Favonrrah is the other of the two queens. She is the Queen of the Light. Her form is a kitsune. Deandra is her sister and the two occasionally become more of rivals. Favonrrah is of a more kind nature and more even tempered. She focuses in on her people's need and doing what is right for the overall good. Still, she is one with power and is not one to fool around with. Do not abuse her benevolent nature for you will be sorry afterwords.

Matthew Lee Davis: Matthew is the boy who ends up helping Colesk. He is seventeen almost eighteen. The picture pretty much describes him except his eyes are a hazelish color with a few greenish flecks. Matthew is one of those kids who are classified as popular, handsome, rich, they have it all. However, he tends to stay toward the outside of the crowd. He realizes that people only like him for his money, etc... not for who he is and he wants nothing to do with it. He is a daydreamer always with his head stuck in the clouds, fantasizing about things. Matthew is quiet, thoughtful, and sincere, a rare combination in a guy of his status. He likes to tease though and has that type of personality that can soften the hardest of hearts or brighten up even the worst day.

The Illumi

Figments of your imagination

Illumi is the word for the species. The singular form is Illumier which is comprised of the English noun illumination mixed with the Latin word for free, Liber.

The Illumi are a unique species mixed in with the thousands of other magical creatures that make up legends and myths. Little is known about them and they are believed to be built of the essence of light itself. They are often referred to as shooting stars or light spirits. If you were to glimpse one in its true form you would compare them to rainbows, the auroras, or even lighting as it strikes. They hold no true form but like to imitate others. The bend and refract the light around them to take on the new form but if you were to touch one of them your hand would go straight through. However, the Illumi upon entering Earth take on a physical form. Like light, the Illumi are formed with energy and when the energy finally is used up they fade and die.

The Illumi are a caring species for the most part. They have an eye for beauty and take good care of the things they take a fancy to. They come across as helpful but they don't always act for the best of intentions.

Like light itself the Illumi are flowing, fast, carefree, and endless. They might seem gentle and docile creatures but like the lightning they represent they can be dangerous and unpredictable creature as well.

No Illumi are the same though just like a snowflake, each has it's own pattern. The Illumi consist of a variation of colors arranged in different ways and each Illumier has a different one. An Illumier can be different physically in another way as well.

Their are your normal Illumiers and then there are the specialties. Some Illumiers are born with extra abilities and powers. These unique gifts let them specialize in one area based on their power combination's. Each combination revolves around the elements.

The main category the specialties are separated in are the planet watchers, which is then divided into sub categories. For example, an Illumier with powers of light/water would have the ability to purify water and other tasks as well for a specific type of water. There are Illumiers that can help forested areas with specialties in growing and nurturing various plants. Then there are also ones like Colesk who have the power of light/air which marks them as atmosphere watchers.

Unfortunately the Specialties don't raise their own young, instead the normal Illumiers will take on their children. It seems wrong but the Specialties stay busy helping either the Earth or Orterrais. They work to keep things beautiful and right for everyone else.

Orterrais

A world not so far away

Orterrais's name originated from the Latin phrase orbis terrarum lux lucis (the world of light) For those who didn't know, Latin doesn't have articles.

The world of Orterrais is more of another realm then a world. However, it is a whole other planet that lays over top of the Earth. It can't be seen though because it is hidden by a glamour. It's dimensions are the same as the Earth's if not a little bit smaller. If you were to see it though you would notice quickly that they are indeed not the same. The land masses and water are not located the same, or are in the same amount.

The original purpose of this planet was to provide a home to all the mythical creatures that once roamed the planet, when they became the human's quarry. Legends hold that the Illumi used to be the portals between the worlds when Orterrais first emerged. But for whatever reason the power was cut of in the new generations and now there is but the one crystal portal from which the planet draws its power. Over time though the humans became more daring and cleaver. While some of the Illumi and other creatures would return now and then. Unable to maintain control and safety over the creatures the current King was forced to make a decision. With the help of his council the King closed the portals severing the two worlds. The Illumi were free to leave the planet to roam but can never re-enter Earth. The Illumi still needed to care for the Earth so allowances were made so the portal would open for the few chosen. Since then both worlds have lost interest in each other and hardly any of the humans remember anything of the past.

Lazris

An Isle under the sun

Lazris is a word I created specifically for Colesk's home. It is a mix of the word lazuli and risa. Lazuli is the name of a gem, which was believed at one time to ward of bad and misfortune. Then risa is the Spanish word for laughter. The meaning for the country's name is The Country of Safety and Laughter. When the Illumi and the rest of the magic fled to Orterrais, Lazris was the first place the stepped foot on. So it earned its name as a celebration of their new found peace.

The actual place they entered upon would later become a city by the name of Deonrah. Deonrah is the city of the queens. It gets its name as a mix of the two queens. Their are several other cities amongst Lazris. However, the Illumi and other creatures tend to roam and not need such a thing as a city for their groups.

Their flag is a symbol of importance and also holds a special meaning. The dark blue color is that of the lazuli stone symbolizing that safety and protection. Then in the center lies a crescent moon the symbol of darkness, colored golden to represent the presence of light within darkness. For they are not separate of each other but work together as one to balance each other. The symbol represents the Queens as well.

Lazris is a vast and varied country, their is much more to it then shown in the map. I hope to in the future add more to it and write names for all the major landmarks.

Preface

Then the real adventure begins

Ever since anyone can remember the Illumi have cared for the Earth. When all the magic gathered there they were the caretakers and guardians that strove to keep it pure. Then magic creatures that once lived there were forced away, to make their home on Orterrais. Even then the Illumi still kept watch over there previous home.

There reasons were:

1. They were wary of their enemies. So they watched over them to make sure no attack was attempted.

2. It kept the Earth beautiful and clean so the humans wouldn't want more. Hopefully then they wouldn't think too in depth about were the other creatures had gone and attempt to follow.

3. Some thought the worlds were connected, so what happened to one happened to the other.

4. Some of the Illumi enjoyed helping with nothing in return. To have the chance to make use of there powers.

So from then on the Illumi with elemental powers went to help if chosen. They would be sent the Earth in the form of a ball of light, in a kind of stasis. Which upon being hit by a ray of light once there, would trigger the Illumier to emerge and the stasis to end. The entire process doesn't take a long time a day at most to leave and then re-enter the Earth's atmosphere. While the others continued to help Orterrais thrive.

A quick history

Okay so you've come this far and are still on the same page? Well Colesk has a brief history that connects a few of the pieces I've mentioned thus far. I'm going to just include it here since it seemed the best place to put it.Continue on then...

Mathius and Arianna as you know already, are Specialty Illumiers. Even so, they ended up have a child, actually twins. Having twins is especially rare amongst the Illumi. They were named Amelie and Colesk. Because they were such a rare case and they were Mathius's children, they were esteemed in the Illumi community. Although, they were not raised by their parents, they were raised amongst the normal Illumiers. However, sweet little Amelie was born smaller than normal. Her light didn't shine as bright and so she ended up fading and died young. The Illumi grieved for her loss, for the death of a child was a enormous loss to them all. They loved Amelie even though she showed no signs of a Specialty. The responsibility was then laid on Colesk and much was expected of her. When she proved to not be what they expected and did not meet there expectations. She was declared a failure of sorts and was nothing like her parents. Colesk felt the loss of her sister as well as the disappointment she had become. Soon she strove to work harder to control her powers and to make something of herself. She longed for a purpose to keep her busy and wanted to do what her sister had. She wanted to be able to go to Earth and make a difference, to make her sister proud, and to save others as she had failed to for her sister. Now we come to the part of her life now, many years later. This is the story of Colesk...

Chapter 1

It always starts off quiet, just a faint whisper. Then out of nowhere it emerges into something different, resembling the sound a vast waterfall. The roar drowns everything else out until it reaches the point of deafening…and finally silence. Colesk entered the immense stadium staring in awe all around him. She had been living on this planet forever as all the Illumi had since, well since the beginning. They were always scattered throughout and many traveled across the vastness of the galaxy instead of being bound to the planet. You could never see many together at one time, with the one exception of this gathering. All of the Illumi must have been here for this occasion. Their was hundreds upon hundreds as far as his eyes could see. Each was different, since every Illumi had taken on the form of their liking. In her lifetime they hadn't ever held this gathering as she was born right after the start of the thousand year term. Colesk snapped back to reality as a sharp voice cut through the noise. Her attention was focused now on the large stage that now filled a decent part of the room. All quieted and quickly parted to leave a clear pathway in the middle of the crowd. In perfect sync the Illumi all around her bowed. Looking to the stage her eyes fell upon the Queens. Hurriedly she also bowed before others noticed. She scolded herself for being so careless and promised she'd pay more attention from now on. Once all was quiet both of the Queens walked forward to the front of the stage before letting their eyes scan the assembled audience. Seeming pleased they both crossed back over the stage and sat upon the two twin thrones. At Favonarrah's command the two exotic trees that were placed behind the throne let their branch's part, reveling a massive stone. The stone pulsed with a faint light that shone out onto the spectators. At first glance it looked like nothing more than a piece of stained glass covered in various colors. However, you could feel the power it contained within. This caused a rush of excitement from the crowd. Favonarrah raised an arm to silence the crowd once more. Finally after restoring order she spoke. You all know the reason we are here today. She took a moment to look over the crowd again before continuing. Today is a special day indeed, another thousand years has passed and new protectors need to be chosen. At the end of today the old protectors will be relived of their duty and a handful of you will step in to take their places. At this Colesk trembled slightly, her stomach was in knots and lets face it she was nervous. Had she not waited for this from the moment since Amelie's death. From then on she had always wanted to come here and dreamed of taking on this responsibility. She longed to make her proud sister, to prove herself, and save others. Even then, she didn't really think she'd be chosen. So many others were better for it than her. Maybe the others were right, she just didn't have what it takes. She was worthless. Colesk broke out of her own thoughts to hear Deandra talking. While she had been lost in her own thoughts Deandra had started to go down the list of possible Illumi. Azalea. Rouyx. Sylvar. Colesk. Colesk froze, it was her turn. Their were murmurs beginning to start around her, taking a deep breath she willed herself to get a grip on herself. Lifting her head high she stepped forward and strode forward, keeping her eyes focused on the stone. The next moment, she was enveloped in darkness. As she slipped further and further into the darkness she could barely make out a voice or was it voices? She can't be the one, and certainly not for this! Their has to have been some mistake. Colesk wanted to reply but now their was only an endless abyss rising up to meet her.

I had a whole lot planned for Colesk's story. However, as you can see I didn't get to write it all down. So I'm going to give you a preview of what's to come so you'll be able to see my plans and how I've worked it through. I apologize if parts don't make sense, you kind of have to take all that I've told you before now and it'll form the story.

So after Colesk's life so far that I've already told you about, time has gone by and now we are here. The next selection of Illumiers is upon us. This will be a first for Colesk. She decides to attend it in some fragile hope that she will be chosen. She feels empty after her sisters death and wants that purpose, Colesk already has a caring nature and therefore wants to make a difference and save others to make up for her sisters loss. By some chance she is chosen as the next atmosphere watcher and is sent to Earth. However, somehow Colesks "ball" falls just right, so that it is lost in a storm and blown into a cave. This has never happened before in the Illumi history. Colesk is now trapped in the prison of her mind. She can hear her surroundings outside but cannot release herself, nor see anything. So basically most of her senses are rendered useless. Then the story breaks of with her wondering what had happened and Matthew enters the picture. Matthew is a young man who has suffered his own loss, his mother. When he was young his mother died in a car crash. Now before then his family was a normal family living in Connecticut with enough money to live well. His father is a scientist and was offered a job which could make him very successful and their family rich. However, his mother always hated the cold and snow. The job was in Alaska so they would be forced to move. So his father chose to turn it down and their life stayed the same till his mother died in a car crash unexpectedly. His father then dove into his work and ended up being able to take the job making him into a well-known and wealthy scientist. They moved to Alaska, where Matthew was sent off to a boarding school. A few years later a world crisis outbreaks when the scientist realize the ozone layer is disappearing due to their pollution, when it hadn't in years past. they don't know what to do but know they have to do something before it starts having a disastrous effect on the environment. Matthew's dad is one of them. Umm then some how and for some reason Matthew leaves his school to follow his dad out towards the northern regions of Alaska/ nearing the Arctic. (Sorry I haven't finished that idea yet.) When he is trapped in a storm he happens upon Colesk's light ball and ends up accidentally freeing her.

Random fact: I didn't mention this earlier but Matthew's mom always used to tell him stories and fairy tales since his dad didn't believe in such nonsense. So Mathew has grown up being interested in fantasy.

Anyways he has heard of the myth of the Illumiers and how the magic left the world. So when Colesk explains everything to him he actually believes her. the rest of the story is them working to find a way back to Orterrais (hint: the help of a true dragon)and convincing the Queens to help fix Earth. Because after the incident the councils and Queens decided that they wouldn't expose themselves and didn't exactly know how to deal with the situation, so they just decided to let Earth perish. (hoping to rephrase that better)After all this takes place Colesk has to choose whether to continue saying on Earth with Matthew or to stay where she belongs. (It will make sense once it's written out I assure you)

Why Colesk?

What makes her so special?

So now comes the big question why her, why did I pick Colesk out of all the others? Why didn't I pick one that had less rarity, and less competition.

What made me want to begin on an application for her? When the other times I tried to apply made me leave the application unfinished and never turned in.

Well to start off I know what you might be thinking I would want her just because she's a Draik. To be honest with you, yes Draiks are rare and their in high demand. But truthfully I don't want her just because she is a Draik. You see with I don't pick my dream pets, they kinda pick me. I've always admired Draiks because they are dragons with a more regal look than a Scorchio or Skeith has. They even have a more majestic look than that of a Shoyru. I've always loved fantasy but for several years now I have falling in love with dragons and have more books on them then you can imagine. But I never got one or applied before for one because they would just rot on my account. No personality and no story, nothing. However, occasionally my intrest would arise and I considered applying for Cirrelle when she was just a blue Draik UFA several years ago. Then recently I saw a Draik and started looking around. There was Kyrouan but even though I tried to find a character for her I just couldn't grow attached and in the end didn't apply. When I found Colesk though I strove to work harder and I grew attached to her where with the others I hadn't.

I wander the pound boards often one day I happened upon Colesk. Immediately she was an inspiration to me and her character just kinda came to me. I had that old story idea I wanted to use and when I saw her it all fit. The more I thought about it, the more she became a dream pet and I decided I would try and apply. But the reason I choose Colesk out of all the other Draiks, was because she sparked something in me and made me want to apply. Where others hadn't interested before. She was unique to me. Sure I could try for another Draik, another name. However, it wouldn't be the same. This page, story, character, etc... has never been used or made before Colesk and is for Colesk and Colesk only.

In the future

What's to come

Home: To begin with Colesk would be welcomed home to my main account southerntexasrose. Colesk would complete the account and she would bring new life and inspiration to it. Soon after she comes home, that is if I'm chosen I'll go to work on her petpage. Hopefully she'll become a part of the family quickly and become acquainted with the others really fast. She would not be neglected I promise you on my account. I also promise you that Colesk will never be re-painted, pounded, or traded ever again. She would always be a permanent pet with me. Although if there ever came a time where I would leave neopets, I would put her back UFA so she wouldn't waste away on my account. I assure you if that ever is to happen I would make sure she would be only homed to a great owner. Because if I had to put her UFA my other pets would be as well and I would be very picky with all of them.

Beauty Contests: Ok this section is hard for me to write, but I'm not going to lie to you or make false promises the way some people do when applying for a pet. I love the BC and like voting but I have never entered myself. I'm not the greatest artist and I don't have access to the many expensive tablets and programs other use. Plus art just isn't my talent or favorite thing. Many times in applications they are based on story writing and drawing skills which sadly I think I lack. If I adopted Colesk I cannot guarantee she would be entered, but I would like to try for her. As the special pet she is, she deserves to have a trophy to show for it.

Customization: I really would like to customize Colesk fully. I haven't bought a whole lot of nc cash and try to use it sparingly. However, when I was looking for things to customize Kes I couldn't find a whole lot to fit her except for neo mall stuff. I picked out these items and I'd like to get them for her. Each item I chose for a specific reason. First of all I would like to get her the Faerie Cave Background which is the perfect representation of her cave. Well, I just thought it looked pretty on her because of the coloration too. Then I'd also like to get the hot spring trinket because it kinda adds to her cave and I had an idea for there to be running water in her cave or by it. Another trinket to add to the look is the faerie dust shower. I had a hard time to decide between this and the sun shower one. I decided one this because it described the way I said the cave glows a little bit better and makes it look more magical. I would also like to get the time tunnel music track for her because the music sounds mystical as well as mysterious. Which I thought was fitting. Then my absolute have to have item would be the Long Summer Dress as it looks great on her however it is hard to obtain so I might have to settle for the Elegant Feather Dress until I find something better. One other item I thought about getting is the Cumulus Wings. They don't necessarily fit her design and it makes her look like she has two sets of wings, but I thought they looked neat on her. Finally, I am also really interested in getting her the Shining Star Staff which complements her, as well as it goes along with the Lazris flag. However, that's also another item which is going to be difficult for me to find for her.

Petpage:Colesk will also have a personal petpage to complete her, I would like to use this same layout for her petpage but with different information of course. Although, I am hoping to try out some different layouts as well. Anyways, I would be adding on more stuff to it though like art, more of her story, and much much more. Some of my other plans for the page are the different categories and abilities for the Illumi and include a diagram. Also for Orterrais I am hoping to write more in depth including pictures of possibly the continents or a map showing the bodies of water with their names, etc... I'm also hoping to get several custom adoptables made for Colesk since I didn't get a chance to yet. Possibly I want to add some of my own, I've tried a few but they never turned out quite right or had that finished look to them.

Petlookup:Colesk would have a lookup to describe her and show who she is to others. Right now Dovrie's lookup is holding Kes's so you can go ahead and look at it here. This is the one I'm going to use for now, I'm planning on trying to play around with some different formats if I get her, later on.

Roleplay:
I was introduced to role playing from a friend and instantly fell in love. I love Colesk's personality and character and plan to role-play her in the future role-plays. I wanted to show you a quick example, since Colesk has powers I picked a gifted rp theme. I'm using her Anthro form so you can get a taste of that as well.

A streak of green pierced through the dark room as it passed by the small crack in the roof. All was silent except the occasional groan of the window panes. Stiffly the figure of a young girl rose and stretched, her sigh disturbing the unnatural silence. Quietly she strode over to a table in the center of the room and retrieved a small book from it. At first she held it almost timidly in her hands before opening it. It was among one of the few possessions she had been able to take with her. On the cover her dark blue eyes lingered on the single word printed elegantly on it, Auguste. Brushing a finger over it, she preceded to turn to the first page. Once again she carefully fingered the words printed on the page. This time they read Colette Leanna Auguste in the same form of inscription. In the stillness of the dilapidated room she spoke the words aloud, taking comfort in the sound of her own name. She continued through the next few pages glancing over the few notes she had of her past life, her family, and memories she would never experience again. Suddenly she muttered sharply under her breath before throwing the book across the room. When it made contact with the wall, it seemed to groan in protest. Colette cast her eyes downward and placed her head in her hands. How was it that she'd come here. To be trapped in a crumbling old one room cottage, with no light, and no supplies. The few others that had grouped together here had left her to gather more supplies, while she stayed put for the last three days awaiting there return. She knew someone had to stay with their meager belongings, and stay behind in case they were captured. But anything was better than waiting alone, hoping they would return. On top of that, a storm had blown in last night causing the cottage to leak and kept her alert all night. It had all begun when on her twelve birthday she realized something was different about her. She had an odd power that allowed her to toy with the wind and command it to her will. Soon she realized there were others like her and all had different abilities. It was not long till the scientists and many others were interested in studying them as if they were animals to be caged. Once they retaliated the other humans were afraid of them and then war broke out. The gifted were outnumbered though and the humans were closing in, forcing them to remain hidden. Blinking out of her daze, Colette pulled her green hair back before walking to the door. She knew she wasn't supposed to leave, however she wasn't going to sit cooped up any longer. Carefully turning the old handle she swung the door open and faced the misty morning. The sun hadn't risen completely yet, although it didn't matter because the clouds covered the sky. Stepping barefooted she brushed her feet over the cool dew that covered the already moist ground. Colette stopped abruptly and listened intently, someone was approaching and quickly. Panicked she raced back into the structure and closed the door shakily. Breathing heavily Colette braced her back against the wall and waited deathly still for what ever was headed her way…

Petpet: And last but most important of all Colesk would have her wonderful companion Samiir, which I introduced to you earlier. Currently he is attached to Dovrie so you can view him and all his glory on Colesk's lookup. Dovrie isn't that ecstatic about being a pet-sitter though. Gosh Samiir why do you have to be so difficult!? Well be glad Colesk likes you at least, else you wouldn't be staying with us now would you?! Anyways... you have viewed him attached to Dovrie. However, Dovrie was just gifted to a new owner, since he was her dream pet. Unfortunately all my other pets are afraid of sweet little Samiir and I don't have a gallery on this account. So I made you a screenie as proof.

So many questions, so little time

As much as I'd love to take credit for this idea, it's not my own. There used to be another Sarah who played neopets and in one of her petpages she used a quiz like this. This quiz was formed by using some of her questions and a mix of my own. You don't have to read them all but I used it to try and help me get into Colesk's character. Hopefully if Colesk comes home, I can expand on the questions and have deeper answers for some of them.

Part 1: The Basics

1. What is your full name?
Colette Leanna Auguste
2. Where and when were you born?
I was born in Lazris, Orterrais. Umm we Illumi keep time differently, therefore I am roughly 952 years old not sure what it is in your time.
3. Who are/were your parents?
My parents are Mathius and Arianna Auguste. They both are specialty Illumiers that work on Earth.
4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Amelie was my sister, she didn't live for long. I don't really feel like talking about her right now.
5. Where do you live now, and with whom?
I live currently in Alaska/the arctic. I live alone, well I have Samirr.
6. What is your occupation?
Being an Atmosphere Watcher
7. Describe a full physical description of yourself
I am medium sized, lithe build, uhh blue eyes, green fur… Why does this matter I'm standing right here??
8. To which social class do you belong?
The Specialty group I suppose you would say.
9. Have you ever been in love?
No, I haven't found any one special yet.
10. Are you right- or left-handed?
I tend to favor my left side.
11. What does your voice sound like?
Others say it sounds musical like or sort of like the chime of a bell if that helps at all.
12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
Well apparently I use the word apparently a lot. I don't know why any one would say that, I never say the word apparently!
13. Are you a morning or nighttime person?
A nighttime person.
14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
I have a habit of pacing when I'm frustrated or nervous, and exhaling gusts of air when exasperated. Occasionally when stressed or upset I'll toy with the air around me, playing with the currents to calm me down.

Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Average, I left my parents and was raised by Normals and then left home earlier than most. However, Illumi grow up and leave at a young age to begin with.
16. What is your earliest memory?
My earliest memory was leaving my parents. I don't think I'll ever forget that day.
17. How much schooling have you had?
Uhh Illumi mainly learn through instinct , although some basics are taught. For me as a Specialty, I mainly had lessons on my powers.
18. Did you enjoy school?
I guess although I wouldn't really call it school, I disliked having competitions with others though.
19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Like I said most of what we learn is on our own the rest we had sort of mentors for.
20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
My sister was always a role model to me. Even though I was technically the older sister I always admired her traits.
21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
Me and my mother were close in the short time I knew her. And my father was more a figure of authority, he spoke and you listened. Males rarely ever help truly "raise" the young anyway. Then me and my sister were always the best of friends, even so we still had a few quarrels.
22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Well I just wanted to be myself, I didn't really think about what I wanted to be till Amelie died.
23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
I enjoyed playing this game we had when we were younger. Us young Illumiers would go out and hide, then we would sneak up on other creatures and surprise them. It was a game that got many of us into trouble.
24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
Strong- will and a big mouth.
25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
Uhh I wouldn't say I was popular, I didn't spend a lot of time with others. Amelie was my only true friend that I spent almost all my time with.
26. What's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?
I honestly don't know, I've seen so many wonderful places.
27. As a child did you follow the crowd?
No, I often tended to act independently as my own.
28. Since you are a supernatural being, tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities.
I first learned of my abilities when I was roughly the age of twelve in your time. It happened when one Illumier picked on Amelie and I grew very upset. Out of no where a large gust of wind hit him and all of a sudden large winds struck the area we were at.

Part 3: Past Influences

29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Going to Earth.
30. Who has had the most influence on you?
My sister has greatly influenced my life.
31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Working to save the creatures of Earth, even when the Queens did not see fit.
32. What is your greatest regret?
Taking for granted my family and previous life.
33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
Evil? Well I wouldn't call it evil, but I've treated several people bad and said things I shouldn't have when I was upset.
34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
Ahh, no not really but there was a time where I actually went along with some of the other Illumiers and uh took random items from a few people. We were just borrowing them for the record.
35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
When I was sent on Earth and all there was, was darkness and I was alone, trapped.
36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
During on of my training sessions I was supposed to use my ability to form a certain type of cloud overhead, but it got out of control and I ended up causing a few of the smaller trees to fall over.
37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be?
I would tell my sister I loved her and take my childhood more seriously.
38. What is your best memory?
I don't know how to answer that one, I had a lot of great memories.
39. What is your worst memory?
Losing Amelie.

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
More on the pessimistic side.
41. What is your greatest fear?
I have a fear of fire and a fear of being burned by it.
42. What time of day is your favorite?
Definitely dusk when the sun begins to set.
43. What kind of weather is your favorite?
I love it when it rains and storms.
44. What is your favorite season?
I absolutely love winter; the cool crisp air and the snow.
45. Are you able to lie?
Yes and no, it depends on the situation. Although I feel awful when I do.
46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
Hurt another being, especially an innocent one.
47. Do you believe dreams can depict future events?
Not really, I don't dream much as is so I really wouldn't know. Sounds kind of crazy if you ask me.

Believing in yourself, and striving to do your best to reach a goal.

I tend to built up walls and hide my true feelings from others, my thoughts on the other hand are far to open.

Yeah, I suppose I do when it comes to judging people.

I refuse under any circumstance to go against something I believe in.
52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
I find that question hard to answer because I wouldn't know until it was to occur. Thinking back I would have done anything for my sister, since then I haven't been able to grow close to anyone.

Part 5: Relationships With Others

53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)?
I often don't treat people how I should and speak harshly. When it comes to respect, I'm at a weakness. I keep most at a distance though and try not to grow to close to anyone.
Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
I suppose so, I treat Samirr way different then others. If I know you I tend to act differently.
54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
Now? Ah I guess Samirr would be. He's always there for me and helps encourage me when I'm down.
55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
Respect? Well being humble isn't exactly my strong point so respect is a hard thing for me. I would have to say my father. I repect him and wish to follow in his footsteps reputionwise.
56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
We've been over this I'm not restating it again.
57. Do you mimic and copy others in your life?
No, I'm not a follower unless its to mimic others for fun.

Uhh, generally I don't try. So when I have to it's a weak spot, but you are not to repeat that you hear?.

Yes, I would. Even if I don't like people I can't stand being a bystander and not doing anything about it.

No there is no one, yet anyways.

I don't like to rely on anyone so I don't know.

Protect me? No. No matter who you are every living thing is going to let you down in some form or fashion, therefore you can't rely on them. Besides I already rely on myself.

Samirr would, other than that not many other would.

I guess myself at times, I can't say I really say I despise other people.

Conflict seems to be my middle name.

I have that in control personality, social situates though? I'm not around other often so probably not unless needed.

No, being around crowds makes me edgy.

On Oreterrais we don't really have many pastimes. I enjoyed collecting shiny things and trinkets though.

My jewelry.

Blue.

The light form the Aurora Borealis or that of a full moon.
74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
I love books that have to do with non-fictions things and help me learn about things around me.

Hmm, me and Samiir both are fond of good music.
77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
Watching the sun set and the stars come out.

Seeing someone just being themselves and goofing off. Just silly little things in general.

The shortage of honesty.

I would fly above the clouds lazily drifting on the air currents, looking down on the world from above.

Messing around with the wind, finding a calm spot away from everything else to sit and just forget everything.

Nah, I'm spontaneous I don't usually have a plan. That gets me in trouble a lot too.

I get ticked off when a person repeats a word several times in a sentences. For example, the word like.

I don't generally have a day to day routine. However, when I plan something I hate when it is disrupted.

Getting angry or frustrated easily.

Become a more wise and experienced person. Perhaps not so rash.

It depends on who I'm with. I'm often very extroverted although I can be introverted with those I know really well.

Generally very organized.

I'm good at accomplishing tasks, doing things in extreme detail, and at flying expertly. I'm bad at learning things the first time, elaborating letting go of things I can't change, and giving advice to others.

I guess I like myself, however I sometimes wish I could change things depending on my mood and mindset.
92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer?
Adventurer? Well I do like to explore and see new places. Mainly though I do my duties and that's it.

Well I got my dream to come to Earth. I guess it would be to make a difference throughout my term and possibly help bring our kind back together.

Continuing to work on Earth and learning more of my abilities.

Hmm, I guess peacefully knowing I would fade away to become part of nature. Or in the place of someone I loved if ever that chance would happen again.

Find my parents and tell them I loved them, soak up as much of the both worlds I could in that time in remembrance, and take one last flight.

How I was able to change to the world for the better.

Inexperienced, young, and stubborn.

For Colesk to not worry herself over the past or the things she cannot change. And that her nature isn't a negative one and I respect her nature. She might want to think before she speaks though.

About me

Who is this Sarah person?

^Me supposed to be dressed up like Kes, but my wings ended up being blue though?:o
In the real world: I always have trouble writing this section because I don't know what to say. However, I included it so you can learn a little about who I am. To start out with my name is Sarah as I probably have already told you. I am 15 years old and I live in the US.

I am an animal fanatic and actually that is the whole reason why I started playing neopets in the first place. However I only have one pet who is a Miniature Schnauzer named Bailey. She is my little wolf pup. Currently I'm volunteering at a animal shelter where I walk, care, and try to train the dogs. I'm hoping to gain experience through that and other ways. I am also a book fanatic and love to read any books, especially fantasy. Then I love the computer and technology in general. I just love playing with various things on the computer and of course coming on Neopets. Well that's a little bit about me.

On neopets: Well to begin with I can honestly say I try to get on every day, even if it's only for a few minutes to check on and take care of everything. I think it's kinda an addiction I've gotten myself into. I started playing when I was younger and now I've kinda grown up with Neopets. Doing everything possible to do with it. I have three accounts in all, here on Neopets. They are southerntexasrose, newportpetlover, and littered_ladybug.

Southerntexasrose is my main and I'm on here most of the time. Newportpetlover was going to be my baby account and I'm working on painting Saiarh. Instead of getting a fourth baby though I ended up adopting Zhocky because no one wanted him so I took him in and made him a part of our family. Littlered_ladybug was my other account that I have more of my family, many of which were adopted to save them from the pound. Valyque is the exception as she was the first I applied for. She will forever be loved and a dream come true. Usually I spend my time on and around the boards or working on stuff for my pets. Ever since I did my first application a couple years back I loved working on them and trying to create new designs for my pets. With the story and character ideas and html, I'm kept busy. I occasionally try my hand at art, however art is not my talent.

So why me?

Why should I be the one

So, why should you choose me to be Colesk's new owner? Well I can't say I'm better than everyone else, because everyone is different and each person is better at certain things than others. And really it's up to you to decide, based on what you see in the various people, including me. Sure, I may not be the best artist, the best coder, maybe even not the best writer. But I'm proud to say I've spent a long time on this application, putting in all the effort I could fit in this period of time to show you my dedication to Colesk. I'm not just another lurker just wanting a pet to trade or abandon in the future. So I guess that means I do have one talent; dedication. I might not know alot about coding but I spent two days searching for the right way to code this layout and spent hours getting it right. I might not be the best artist but I drew several pictures of Colesk anyway.

When it comes right down to it, I've fallen in love with Colesk and her character and the potential she has for the future. The whole time I worked on this application I wanted to back out, because I was afraid of the competition and doubted my application. I wanted to do what others I've seen could and believed I didn't have any talent to show you at all, but after thinking long and hard about Colesk, it didn't matter anymore. I would try anyways for her and push those other thoughts aside. So why should you pick me, well I give you my word that I'll keep all my promises that were made. My true talent is in writing stories and in envisioning characters, and then their is my poetry on the side. If you were to ask any of my friends at school they could tell you how much time I spend daydreaming and talking about her as if she was real. I take my characters seriously and hopefully words can make up for art. Because even though a picture is worth a thousand words, a picture can never tell you the full story that the words can.

I care about Colesk more than her just being a pixel. Wow, that sounded corny (: If I didn't I wouldn't have even applied in the first place. So I hope it all shows.

Okay my rule on fanart on applications is kind of a pet peeve. I'm not an advocate of requesting lots of fan art for an application. I may not be an artist but I take the hard work put into a drawing seriously. I feel like the time and effort put into a kind person for nothing in return is wasted when a person doesn't get the pet and then has nowhere to use the art. So when it comes to my applications I wait to get fan art. So if Colesk comes home I'll start working on getting her lots of fans afterward.

It's a shame to see you go...

It seems we've come to the end of the application. Thank you for taking the time to read my application for Colesk. I tried to make it interesting and I hope you've noticed all the work I've put into it.

I'd like to thank Chex for putting Colesk up for adoption in the first place, giving me the chance to make this application in the first place. And then herself for being the wonderful Light Spirit she is.

Please mail me if you have any suggestions, can critique my app., do fan art, or have any better ideas for Kes's customization. I'd appreciate the help.

But before you go, why don't you take one of these with you so you can find Colesk's little cave again. For now they are just for looks since this is an application. The link will be put up if I am chosen to adopt. I might make some new ones later on. Well Thank you and come again soon. *waves*

All the hard work shows

Layout coding was done by me with the help of some nifty html guide sites and the nice people on the boards. Special thanks to Haley and Maddy who both took time to help me. My art, the story, the poems and of course the rest of the application's content was also done by me.

The adoptables credit goes to their rightful makers.

The other images used in the application are not mine, for example the amine images of Matthew and Colesk. Their credit goes to their rightful owners.
