."Ninety-nine neopoints." His head was angled ridgidly, parallel to his shoulder. The lack of eye contact was frustrating; blank -disallowed_word-also noting his hesitance as he takes it) you grab the bag of new belongings and begin your adventure home. You take only a single step forward, but curiosity gets the better of you.
."Are you okay?" The cashier flinches, as if you'd yelled it into his ear. "Hello?"
."Shhhshh." he winces again, waving a hand at you. He freezes, still grasping a costomers item, still with his arm out-stretched, palm exposed. A few moments pass and he slowly "comes to". Odd...

The costomer hurries herself out the door, leaving the small shop empty, sans yourself and the strange creature before you. There is an awkward silence as he locks the register with a small click. He slowly makes his way past you, each step he seems to calculate, as if one false move may end him. You're planted firmly in place; intrueague is overwhelming. He flips the "Open" sign over.
."No." It takes you a moment to realise he'd just spoken.
."What?"
."No...not okay." he speaks quietly in a frightening, shuddering monotone. "There's things...it's watching. They're so loud... not okay. Please..."
Concern immediately evelopes you as he looks up and finally makes eye contact: fear. "Are you okay?" escapes your mouth for a second time.
."Noo..." He whimpers, sinking to the floor. "No... No, NO, NO!"

Panic takes affect and you scan the shop desperately for help. The The ogrin is in a heap on the floor, bawling and babbling incoherently to himself. You yelp for someone. Seconds drag as you attempt to silence and comfort him, though to no avail because of your fright to touch the kid. And then...
From the back of the store, quietly, but growing louder in approach, there comes the slap of sneakers against tile. You look up, relieved to see a adolescent girl skid around the corner of a display. She shoves past you in an alarmed manner and bends down next to the ogrin on the floor.
."AVOLITION!" she had a hand on his shoulder, "Avolition its going to be ok, nothings going to hurt you!"
The orgin,"Avolition" quieted down slowly; the girl shushed, assuring that all was well. A long while passed and you stood in shock throughout the entire time. There were a few more shudders, a few more meaningless rambles, and he was finally back to "normal". They stood.
The girl sighed with relief. She patted Avolition on the back and turned to you. "Hi, there. Sorry about that." She had a short, boyish haircut that stuck up at odd angles, which matched her brown eyes. She was dressed in darker hues. "I'm Nikki," she stuck out her finders for a handshake, "...Radioschizo! I'm the owner of this shop. I apologize for its morbidity."

You shake hands, and can't help to ask for a third time "Will he be okay?"
Avolition sniffles and sighs; Nikki answers for him. "He'll be alright. Actually..." She turned and whispered to him. He turned and shuffled towards the back of the store. Nikki watched him. There was a sound of a door shutting. You assume he went into some sort of employee lounge.
Nikki turned back to you. "He...," she paused. "He has..schizophrenia. I apologize again if he scared you."
You shake off the remainder of shock. "Like...two personalities?"
."No....not at all. Can I explain it to you? A better understanding?"
You shake your head in agreement, willing to understand. She ushers you back to where Avolition had gone, into a back room. The ogrin was sitting on a chair in the far corner, unfocused and staring blankly. The girl and yourself sit at a small table. She begins:

."Against popular belief schizophrenia is NOT a split personality. When broken down, "schizo" means "shattered" and "phrenia" means "mind"; or "split mind". The drastic change in the person also plays a part in this. Split personally is "Multiple Personality Disorder," not schizophrenia. Also, schizophrenics are not generally violent, another common mistake. Actually, studies have shown that a person with schizophrenia has a greater risk of getting injured by a common person, than the other way around."

You nod, entwined by interest. Nikki continues:

."The disease has two general symptoms that can be broken down: Negative, and Positive.

Negative symptoms include Alogia, poverty of speech; Affective flattening, reduction of emotional behavior, ie: eye contact, blank expression, ect; and Avolition, where my son got his name: which is the redcuction or inability to maintain goals in life, thought to be utter disinterest.

Positive symptoms, which are not positive at all! include Delusions, information gained by false belief, ie: believing someone has planted a mind-controlling device on you; Hallucinations which are hearing, seeing, feeling, tasting, or smelling something that is not there; Disorganized speech, a jumbling of words and phrases that make no sense, called "Word salads"; and Catatonic behavior which is not so common. It's extreme flexibility or rigidness of limbs."
