- E-SAR 5-5 ffp
Aulath's communicator buzzed harshly. The tiny earpiece had been specially designed to
operate efficiently underwater.
Go for E-SAR 5-5
Bubbles streamed from his mouth when he spoke. He hated talking underwater, it sapped
his concentration from more important tasks.
- KRZCHH
- 5-5 you are being reassigned. Are you prepared? ffp
Aulath frowned. The staticy voice wasn't that of his commander. It was female. However, if
she had contacted him she was his superior. His soldier's brain snapped into attention.
Yes. Proceed.
- KRZCHH
- Reconaissance mission. Locate and collect information on a black lupe called Fox. ffp
Copy.

Hundreds of miles away a green cybunny leaned away from a computer. A walky-talky was in
her hands. Her red eyes scanned the screen, searching for the face of the E-SAR she had
justed contacted. There. The E-SARs were strange looking to her. She had only seen a few
in person, and just their size was intimidating. And she did not like to be intimidated.
This particular E-SAR was a 5-5, the bulkiest and most dangerous of the division. She
clicked his image. A new screen appeared, this time with his records, contacts, and logs.
She hit "CTRL + F" and typed one name. She sucked her breath in sharply.
So it's true.
She heard footsteps behind her, but she recognized them as her masters and didn't turn.
He leaned over her chair, staring at the screen.
You found him then?
Yes, she replied.
Are you sure the E-SAR will be able to find the one we sent him
after? I know your brother has a habit of disappearing.
Her master laughed, his deep voice uncomfortably loud in her large ears.
Oh I'm sure Aulath will be able to find Fox. But finding him won't be the difficult part. Fox is waiting. He's ready. No. Our little Aulath will fail. Don't worry your pretty head about it, Jadeitte.

Jade smiled. He was right. Nothing could go wrong.

-Aulath swam swiftly through the open ocean. His heart soared with elation with the feeling
of his own immense power and speed. It was fabulous being a transgenic great white shark. He
could feel the currents around him. He always felt omnipotent while in the water. Nothing
escaped his attention.
He was a little disappointed with his new mission, it was unlikely
that a lupe would be in the water. Besides, recon was boring. He was made for the attack.

-Jade turned back toward the computer, scanning the E-SAR 5-5's records. There, in his contacts list, was the face she had been searching for. Yes, that lupe had caused them quite a lot of problems over the past few months. He had taken up the role of a highwayman and robber; stealing and burning all of the Empire's incoming supplies. All the trouble they had gone through to try to find him and he was right under their noses.

Cecorm, her master spoke the name behind her. Jade jumped, she hadn't heard him come in.
We should have taken him out when we had the chance, Jade responded, baring her teeth. Her master laughed, his voice echoing around the vaulted ceiling.
You E-VRs are so quick to kill, when in fact your enemies can prove quite useful. You know the rest of his kind work for the Empire. He doesn't know that, he thinks his family is dead. If he knew they were alive and... relatively happy, he might be inclined to join us. And if not, I could always force him too. And you know we could make use of his talents. He chuckled to himself more. Ordinarily such signs of humor would make Jadeitte irate, but her master was different. She was calm around him.
They say that the skull he wears is a foxes', and that he vows revenge on you, Night. Does that bother you? She looked him in the eye, searching for truth.
He smiled. His sabre like teeth looked green in the light of the computer.
No. It doesn't. I quite like our little Cecorm. And the fact that he's so vengeful makes me like him even more.
But what about the skull? It's a foxes', Night. A foxes'... Jade pressed him further. She could tell when he was hiding something.
It doesn't mean anything Jade. Cecorm only saw my brother once, and he probably thought he saw a ghost.
But what abou--
No, Jade. Enough,
Night closed his eyes, a characteristic motion that meant he would not say another word on the subject.
Keep studying the E-SAR. I want a full report in an hour.
He walked out. Jade returned her attention to the computer. There was work to be done.
-Aulath surfaced, the sea floor was rising beneath him. He was getting closer to the land. He breathed in the salty air, smiling. The warm sea breeze felt nice on his scaley skin. He swam on, more leisurely now. He was enjoying his mission, although it lacked excitement.
Suddenly he felt sand beneath his feet and he walked onto shore. He was unfamiliar with this particular stretch of beach, but a quick check to his internal maps asured him that the black lupe frequented the harbour. He shook himself dry, much like a dog, and headed for a small, white-washed coastal town. He was on his guard. Pirates frequented the area, and they were known for targetting military officials. Not that he had anything to fear, but he preffered to keep out of trouble.
He walked confidently into the town. Women pushed their staring children out of his way, attempting to avoid his gaze. Aulath chuckled to himself. Sure, he could never pass as an ordinary citizen, but he wasn't really built to blend into the crowd. His species had been designed to be fearsome, to be monsters.
And Aulath played the part.
- Jadeitte clicked boredly on different contacts and files in the E-SAR's records. It was a bit dull, although reading about his missions was interesting. He was an especially bloodthirsty E-SAR, and had advanced through the ranks quickly. He was one of the first model 5-5s, and was now the leader of the unit. She frowned and took a sip of her coffee. How had he come into contact with Cecorm, a known rebel? Why hadn't he captured him?
None of those answers code be seen directly on E-SAR 5-5AU's record, but they could possibly be found elsewhere. Jade drained her mug and grinned, her eyes glinting maliciously. She hadn't been made gaurd to the General for nothing.
-Aulath made his way slowly to the edge of town. He moved smoothely on land, though he found it uncomfortable. His body was /so heavy/ out of the water. He was used to the fearful looks he recieved from passerbys and he ignored them. He took a step out of the town and stopped. The change of landscape was startling. Whereas the town had been a clean and cheery place, the forest that lay beyond was dark and chilling. An owl called dolefully in the distance. The old forest seemed to drain the light out of the sky, it was foreboding. It seemed to be inviting Aulath in only to strangle him in its clutches.
There was a presense in the dark woods, that much was sure.
Aulath was concerned; an E-VR would have been much more suited to this mission than he. They were used to twisting branches and roots; he was meant to be submerged. However, if he was chosen for this task, he would carry out.
-Jade clicked through the files quickly and found the ones she was looking for. The first page contained Aulath's basic information, just standard stuff.
She saw it then. One of the periods was red. It was a link! She clicked expectantly and came upon a detailed list of Aulath's species and personal strengths and weaknesses. She sighed. It was useful for someone ignorant on E-Units, but she was one of the head E-Units, and found the information unnessesary. Her search would continue.
