Alix: This was a lot of fun, but unfortunately didn't get to be as complete as I would have liked. NTS: never. forget. tablet. again. Colouring with trackpad is a nightmare.

Challenge 1:

August: Alix tells me I'm making a grumpy face in this picture but it's all her fault. We only had one afternoon to do the shot. Also, that Hermiteese is heavy. And cream is not my colour at all. And-

Alix: Shhh. I'm sorry about the time crunch, I'd been distracted all week. Hopefully we can make it to the next round and show everyone that we can do much better x_x. Anyways, I picked the Hermiteese to work with because it reminded me of August. She likes to wear silly things in her hair and he had those 2 red feathers sticking out the back of his head. Also using a petpet with red was ideal because August's Christmas paint is generally hard to match with.

I start with a small (very small - Challenge 1 was less than 3 inches tall) pen drawing (Micron & Sharpie), scan it in, Image Trace in Illustrator to vectorize it, tidy up the linework, and colour using the Pen Tool.
