Chapter 2: The City
Although protected from the harsh waves, the egg arrived upon the island cracked from debris that could be found flying through the air. Inhabitants of the island claim that the storm ceased as soon as the egg touched the sands of the shore. As the sky returned to its original color, another large crack could be found across the shell. A tiny paw emerging from inside, wet feathers began to show themselves as an arm extended out. A small body beginning to show itself, fur covered its small face. Eyes still closed and wiggling across the remains of its previous home, the babe began to squawk out. At this sound, it is said that nearly all of the pets living on the island came out to see the crying Draik. An Eyrie the one to take care of her, the child soon was able to open her eyes and crawl. Still bound to the ground for being so young, that didn't stop the Draik from always jumping from her and there attempting to become air borne. Although the Eyrie was always able to catch her, after she turned one year of age, the two traveled up the only mountain on the island.
The Draik first learning to fly with the wings on her back, after she had gained more control, she had learned to use use all four of her wings. With the extra pair of feathers, she was able to out-fly her guardian even at such a young age. The moutain climbing up all the way to Faerieland, no Neopet living on the small island had been ever to climb to the top. But the Zephyrdrac was determined to meet the other pets who could fly just as she could. Easily climbing to the spot she first flew at, it was less than halfway up. Waving a final goodbye to her fellows below her, she made off to a quick start up the rocky structure. As if to help her, the wind began to pick up as she flew farther up the tall mountain. Nearly 6,000 feet from the ground, she knew she had to already have gone farther than any of the other pets had gone. Climbing even higher into the bright blue sky, the young Draik began to tire out. With another response from the wind, she merely spread her wings as she was carried into the clouds. The journey continuing on for most of the day, the sun made contact with the horizon as she reached the famous city. The wind almost imediately dying down as she reached her destination, she fell onto the soft cloud below her a slept.
Chapter 3: The Wind
Awaking in the same spot she slept in, the hustle and bustle of the city she heard so much about was currently in progress. Numerous species of pets flying through the air on their own pairs of wings, the Draik gave a grin as she saw this. Quickly standing up on her hind legs, she leaped into the air to join the other Neopets. The air filled with talk and laughter, the Zephyrdrac soon perched herself atop the roof of the Employment Agency. The wind once again beginning to pick up, a voice rang in her ears. Looking around, the only pets able to fly were quite a ways away. A large gust of wind blowing the fur on her tail, the voice now seemed to be yelling.
Are you the one!?
Her eyes growing wide, she quickly flew from her perch to the outskirts of the city. Clutching her head with her paws in fear, the wind was now a gentle breeze. A small gust seeming to intertwine itself with the cowering Draik, the Neopet gave another look around as she felt a touch.
You can hear me...
The mysterious voice was heard once more. Her feathers ruffling from the blowing wind, the Zephyrdrac began to grasp the situation. Giving a nod, she held out a paw. Although nothing there, she felt the touch once more.
No one knows it, but everything is alive. You just have to listen.
Giving a slight smile, the Draik gave a second nod.
Young one, I'd like to raise you high. Because I think everyone deserves the chance to fly. And helping with your ascent allows me to feel so... parental. Because I am a sentimental... man...
Chapter 4: The Name
After that fateful moment, the Draik almost never ventured into the city. Always staying in the outskirts with only clouds, she was often found holding conversations with what looked like no one. Rarely touching the ground, she had learned many new tricks and other ways to fly from her new Mentor. Interacting with no one but the air, the Zephyrdrac had learned to need none but herself and the wind all around her. Another year passing above the clouds, the Draik herself noticed after more than 730 days of life, she had yet to acquire a name. Refusing to name herself, she asked the one who was closest to a parent. After a long pause, a gentle breeze brushed against her fur
My dear, perhaps a name such as Keliah could suit one such as you. Yes... Keli... Draikeliah...
Although it might have been because none she ever knew had ever acquired a name of their own, but she adored the name her Mentor had given.
Then from this day foreward, I shall be known as Draikeliah,"
She stated, a grin on her face
