STEP ONE supplies
SAFETY FIRST!! HAVE AN ADULT HELP YOU!!
Take a trip to your friendly local Neopian fabric store! (Or in my case Wal*Mart) and check the $1 fabric table cause you never know what kind of find you can get there! I found my yellow and orange checkerboard fabrics on the $1 table, and 1 yard of fabric can go REALLY far when you're making a little plushie! If you can't find the EXACT colors your looking for, a close match works just fine! If nothing matches from the $1 table, try looking at the other fabrics. A good tip is to buy a 1/4 yard piece to save money and still have plenty of fabric depending on the size of plushie you intend to make! (Don't forget buttons for the eyes!)

STEP TWO patterns
Create a pattern for your ideal pet. In my case, I used Chakamie as my design basis and all my pieces fit on 8.5" x 11" pieces of paper, I cut out my pieces and pinned them to prep them for sewing! If you are unsure of how your pieces will fit together, ask an adult to help. You can also use other plushies you have to help you understand how each piece needs to be set up to fit together properly. Be sure when you create your pattern to give enough room for hem space so your finished result isn't significantly smaller than you had originally planned. Make sure your fabrics are inside out for the next step! When you are done preparing your pattern for sewing, give it a test run and lay out each piece to get a rough idea of how it will all come together like this:
|
STEP THREE sewing
If you are not familiar with sewing, get an adult to help you! Sew each piece and leave an opening to reverse the fabric in and be able to stuff the plushie with. Then you can stuff your plushie like so:
|
STEP FOUR stuffing
Once you've stuffed your lil plushie, make sure to close up the holes that you left for the stuffing to go in and place them together to make sure everything is evenly placed. You wouldn't want one leg higher up than the other! Make sure where you place the arms and are places you are happy with, and that your plushie doesn't have to sit up against something in order to look how you want!
Also be sure that you are happy with your color selections (when making a plushie like Chakamie) so when other people see your plushie they know what they are looking at!

*Chakamie in progress says, I can hear you, but, where's my head?!

*Chakamie thinks o0(YAY! My head!)
Don't forget the little details, like patches on the back and a cute little tail!
|
STEP FIVE attachments

REMEMBER!! SAFETY FIRST!!
Once you have decided on a good place to put your appendages, attach them with yarn. To help achieve that authentic plushie look, create X shapes when attaching arms and legs! Tie your knots twice to ensure they don't come apart later. And I cannot emphasize this enough, BE CAREFUL, be careful, be careful!! (And always have an adult help!) Attach the head, ears, and tail and you're ready to go! Don't forget to stitch on a cute smile, button eyes and furrowing brows should you want to!
|
STEP SIX enjoy
Now that your hard work is all done you can enjoy the fruits of your labor! You are now the proud owner of a UNIQUE and adorable plushie that you can hug and squeeze forever! Just don't squeeze too hard cause they're only filled with stuffing! Love your plushie, and be proud of the accomplishment you have just made!

STEP SEVEN bragging time
SHOW OFF YOUR HARD WORK! Brag, boast, gloat, rub it in, show it off! After all that hard work, its the least you deserve! Don't get caught unawares! Your pets would *love* to make a toy out of your new little plush friend, KEEP THEM SAFE! Beware of friends that want MSP plushies as well, I've been asked by a few people to make them one as well! (Note: No Chakamie plushie was harmed in the making of this tutorial - Haley doggie was just curious about Chakamie and gave sniffs and kisses to welcome Chakamie to the family!)

FINAL THOUGHTS who what where when and why
Who: My name is Sheral, aka mistresspixie, I'm 27 and have been playing neopets off and on for 5-6 years. (maybe more, I can't remember!)
What: Chakamie, the MSP poogle, I created this plushie poogle to prove to Ashely how much I would love to be Chakamie's new loving family and home. The final task presented to me was to do anything I chose to prove how much I wanted Chakamie to come home with me, I decided to sew together a real life plushie version of Chakamie and take pictures along the way to show my hard work and the love for my final product.
When: I began work on Chakamie the plushie at about 5:30 pm on 07.19.06 and completed her with a (few breaks and errands in between) around 1:00 am on 07.20.06. As to when Chakamie's new home is chosen, that is entirely up to Ashley!
Where: I worked on Chakamie here at my house of course, with the use of the faerie queen's (aka mom) sewing machine and the skills I learned in school from my home economics class. I also looked at my own stuffed teddy bears and rabbits for help creating a pattern and also looked up teddy bear designs on the search engines of the internets. As previously mentioned, all my supplies I purchased at WalMart for an approximate cost of $7.oo USD. And no this Chakamie is not for sale for NP, Cash or anything else, she's my first creation and will be with me forever!
Why: Contrary to popular belief, I always wanted an MSP poogle, and I never thought one would come along on the Charter pounding boards. So when Ashley put Chakamie up for adoption and stated that petpage applications weren't required, I made a petpage application anyways to prove how much I cared to be the new home for Chakamie. This was my first petpage application ever and I was surprised to make it to the finals, I've done my hardest and best work possible and played a clean game. And while some have badmouthed me and accused me of doing it for status purposes, answer me this, would someone spend their own money and use up precious hours of their time to make TWO pages and a real plushie if it was all for status or cause they wanted to show their devotion to being a great adoptive parent? I sincerely hope I am chosen to be the new home for Chakamie. And for anyone that is wondering, should I not get Chakamie, I will still continue to be friends with Ashley. I will not, however, put this much effort into another pet on neopets. This is my first and final attempt. I gave my all, and I can walk away proud of that.
Thank you. :)
