StoryI was once a little baby foal, born in a warm and comfortable reef. My mother was a shadow peophin, her colour was useful to hide in dark areas. And my father was a faerie peophin. I loved his wings, and wished I could have wings one day. Our lives were quiet once. I grew fast up and within five years I was sort of a teenager. I was always playing with my parents and the other foals from the nearby reefs.
But happiness doesn't go on forever. I remember the day it happened. When a darigan peophin came to live on our reef. I know most darigan peophins aren't bad, but this one was. I don't know if he is still alive on this day but he called himself Spike. That is most likely not his real name but that's what everyone called him.

So, my parents felt sorry for him and asked him where he was going to live. I always remember his voice. It was bitter and his eyes were keen. He had a big horn on his head instead of a head plate like most peophins. He had also sharp teeth like predators have and he looked very strong. He said he was going to live where he wanted. My parents offered him to live with us. I never forget the excitement in his face. It was horrible, it was like he was preparing to jump on his pray and when he looked at me, I almost felt like he could hear my thoughts. But then he was normal. At least to my parents. They laughed at his jokes and stories and shared his pain. I was scared. They scolded me for being impolite. I kept saying I didn't like him, I wanted him gone but they didn't listen. They said he was a fine peophin. Years passed and he didn't leave to find his own home, he did nothing! He didn't go and find food for himself, he made my family do it. He didn't do his share for the reef when storms hit. He helped no one, and everyone seemed to like him. I felt so lonely. Everyone wanted to be with him and have fun. When I turned 15 years old, something terrible happened. My father got hurt in a fight with an enemy peophin from another reef. His blood seemed to be everywhere when it happened. But I don't suspect the "enemy" peophin, let me tell you what really happened.
We noticed one day that our food supply that my father always kept safe was suddenly dried up. And it was winter and hard to get food without storing it. He decided to sleep in the food storing room to try to catch the thief. And so he did. It was a peophin from another reef far away from us, he said they're food dried up long ago and everyone was starving. My father tried to reason with him and he said he would never do it again. Then Spike came and said that he was trying to trick us and attacked the peophin. My father tried to stop the fight but got hurt and so did the other peophin. Spike kept saying "I don't want thieves to get away with theft" but what could he say, my father had a huge wound. And the wound looked like a horn had been stabbed into his side. It was Spike and I know it. My mother and I cried, we had to get help. And I was the only one fastest to get it. But where could I go, I had never left the reef and winter in the deep ocean is dangerous. But no one in our reef had healing powers. I swam as fast as I could after I had been given information about the nearest healer. When I finally got there I was told the healer had died two years ago. I was desperate to find someone who could help.
But I couldn't, when I finally arrived home I learned my father was dead. I was shocked and griefed. I blamed Spike for this, for my fathers deadly wound but wasn't sure if I should tell someone about my suspicion. My mother and I cried at his side for days. I cried on his beautiful wings and wished he was there with me.
I knew who was the reason for this and I wanted revenge. I began training. I worked hard everyday to get in top physical form. But I suspected Spike to have some kind of magic and how could I ever beat him if he had. I was confused so I asked my mother how to gain magical powers and she laughed at me. She said magic didn't exist. So I confided in her my suspicions of Spike. She went mad and called for him like I had attacked her. I tried to calm her down but it didn't work. I noticed her eyes were red, not black like normally. Was it Spike who did that to her? I wandered. She continued yelling until he came, then she became completely still and stared at me with her red eyes. Now I was even more worried and scared. Spike swam to me and circled around me and said "Never try to say that again to anyone" He didn't have to say "or else" something. I knew whatever he would do would be bad. I decided to run away, my reef had changed to the worse. Even though I had to leave my mother and friends behind.
That time in my life was horrible and also wonderful. I had to live in the darkest reefs and hunt to get some food and sometimes I had to steel. I was mad at myself for doing that. It was wrong, but I had to if I wanted to stay alive. I eventually decided to go into the wild and stop living on that reef. The wild was fantastic, I had to hunt fish for living but that was a piece of cake since I was so fast. And one day I was fishing and saw a very big fish, a tuna. I went after it but crashed into something that came from the right. It was another peophin! He went all shy and said "Oobs, sorry....I didn't mean to..crash into you." I was fascinated by that peo. I couldn't believe I had met such a nice peo, that was in exile like me. I said to him "That's okay, I'm not hungry anyway. What's your name?" "I'm Cybrem. And you?" "Asidya". We became friends and the fishing was a lot easier with him. There was always some connection between us we didn't want to admit, at least not yet. I asked him once why he was so far away from the reefs and the other peos, and he went silent. So I told him my story and he seemed surprised. When I had finished he told me story just like mine. He had encountered Spike just like me. He had come to Cybrem's reef and ruined it, completely. Cybrem told me he suspected Spike to have some kind of evil spirits that possessed him. We had to do something. We couldn't let him ruin my reef too. We went on a journey to my reef, but on our way something wonderful and also scary happened. We were swimming over a ravine when I suddenly felt dizzy and my vision was blurry. Cybrem yelled at me to wake up but I fainted. When I woke up we were in a very dark place, I looked up and saw we were at the bottom of the ravine. I was scared, my mother told me when I was little that terrible things happen at the bottom of ravines. I yelled for Cybrem and I could see a red light from my left, it was Cybrem. His ruby in his head plate was glowing. He said "Good you are awake, look what happened". I shook my head "What happened?" I asked him. He pointed towards me! I looked at my body and it was dark green! My mane was beige. And there were huge wings on both of my sides with green and beige feathers. I stood up and saw that my hooves were golden. Golden hooves, wow! And wings!! I also had a red scarf around my neck and holly at the side of my ears. "What..what happened??" I asked him. "You tell me, you were dizzy and you fainted. I tried to get you from the ravine but you fell so fast, considering we are in the water. Then a light surrounded you. I could see you transform into a Christmas peophin....uh..with wings and golden hooves." "This is brilliant!!!!" But he looked sad. I bet he wanted to transform too but I decided to take the attention off myself and ask him about his ruby. "It's my magic" he said. "You're magic??!!" He explained what had happened to him when he was little. A light that had surrounded him, just like me, and transformed him. He said that every time he was scared about someone his ruby lit up. He could control it now but couldn't when he was a foal. I could feel he was leaving something out of the story but didn't ask more. But my dream had come true. I had wings like my father and I always wished that when I was little. We swam up from the ravine and continued our journey.
We arrived at my reef. Everything looked terrible. The corals that surrounded it looked sick, and the seaweed was completely gone. I swam around but couldn't see the peos come out from their homes like they used to when a guest arrived. I swam to my mother's home and could see her lying on the floor. She looked very sick, but she still had the red eyes so I didn't dare to come closer. Then Spike came from his room and looked at me "Who are you?" He said in a bitter voice. "It's Asidya" "Oh really, the run-away child has finally come home" he said in a sarcastic voice. "Yeah, and this time you leave" I said in a brave voice but I wasn't that brave and he saw right through me. "You think you are brave but deep inside you are just as scared as the day you ran away" Cybrem came into the room with his ruby lit up and said "Maybe she is scared but I'm not" No Cybrem, stay out of this! I thought. "Cybrem you say. Stay out of this, this isn't you business" Did he really read my thought? And he looked at me like he heard what I just thought. I felt so scared, but my hooves were like glued to the floor. Cybrem swam out of the room and I suddenly got un-glued and followed him to the plaza. Spike came and attacked Cybrem and I ferociously. His horn almost hit Cybrem and I got angry and attacked him back. I knew all along I was no match to him. The fight went on and on and on. I got really tired and by the look of it, Cybrem was tired too. But Spike didn't seem tired at all. And suddenly, his horn hit Cybrem in his neck. I remember the agonized scream he made clearly. It was the worst sound in the entire world and I thought it was ripping apart. My loved ones, my father died, my mother was enchanted and Cybrem was dying. I swam to his side, and lay there. I said to him "I love you, I love you. Don't die" I could see in his eyes he did too. Then I touched his wound and my head plate lit up. And I could see the wound heal before my eyes. Spike seemed furious by this love thing that had healed Cybrem and attacked again. This time I was not scared anymore, I had magic too and I could attack back. And I did everything to hurt him. Finally, he seemed broken and hurt. He swam away before I knew. I tried to catch my breath and Cybrem came to my side. We were glad this was over. Then my mother came out of her house and her eyes were back to the normal black colour. I swam to her and hugged her, a peophin hug of course.
