Introduction

You find yourself in a dark, dusty, damp room. The wallpaper is rotting away and folding into itself at the top. It looks as if it has been abandoned for quite some time. Cobwebs occupied the majority of the store and bugs crept over the counters, toys, and in any crevasse that could be seen. You could feel something lurking in the dark, not to be seen but you could feel it. It watches you as you walk around; picking up dusty toys only to create a tornado of dust that has been settled for quite some time. It fills your lungs and you begin to cough, choking at the air. Should you stay? or should you leave immediately?

So, I would hope that you would choose to stay. If you did stay, I could gladly go through some old rubbish to find you a gas mask... I mean the dust isn't really /that/ bad is it?
Okay, so I have a really dry sense of humor. Sorry. OH! by the way, my name is Erika and I am obviously here to apply for Vaidao the Plushie Korbat. *Such a cutie*. So I welcome you, whoever is reading these applications at this point, or any other lurkers, to my application. I hope to convince you that I would be the best choice to adopt darling Vaidao. Oh and i have written this application in a way that the whole thing is a story, so there will be no section dedicated to a story. because we all know how lame and boring it is to sit and read a full story.
That way it should keep you, me, and any other lurkers kicking it here entertained.
ALSO I am not going to bore you with a whole bunch of useless sections such as why me? why not me? ect. if that's not explained for you in the application already without having to have its own little section.. then well, we know what that says about me. D': So this application has a lot of writing and i hope you are prepared for it!

What was that?

As you clear the dust from your eyes you see a shadow behind an old jar filled with century old gumballs.
hello? Is anyone there?
No response. Cautiously you walk over, careful to avoid running into anything, you certainly didn't want to scare the thing away. It couldn't have been more than a few inches tall. Maybe 6" at the most. You could not see it behind the jar of gum.
Come here little guy, I'm not going to hurt you.
It peeked around the corner just as you caught a glimpse of it. It looked like a small rodent at first, but then you noticed the strings attached at its back to its wings. it had to be some sort of plushie.

The Design

The design i chose was Quad. Simply because i fail at life when it comes to drawing actual people. However i am workingon it. Any hoo, at first i had a very simple design. All blue a few orange spots here and there and some orange around his eyes. However when i got the layout going it seemed very plain. So i decided to doodle with it for a bit and i was inspired by Transformers. (i know, you are like WHA?!?) So here is how it goes. the spots, i liked so i kept... and the dark rings around the eyes, those were just made darker to make him look a little more skittish.. i didn't think yellow worked very well. So then i went onto the stripes. this is where Transformers comes in. I was watching the movie and bumblebee is one of my fav. character ever so i was thinking, bumblebee? what a cute idea and i put /bumblebee like/ stripes on his back. The fact that Vaidao is very un-proportioned came from my giant stuffed panda. It has too much fluff in its rear and not enough in its middle. So as you can see i was really inspired by a lot of aspects around me.

Personality

The personality is a different inspiration entirely. I have always loved sort of /dark/ stories involving vampires, lonely characters, ect. ect. it all just interests me. So i figured the personality would involve a character that was forgotten, left behind, abandoned. However instead of taking the angry approach i went with the scared/skittish lonely character. Vaidao is /in short terms/ the thing lurking in the dark . he is always lurking in the shadows to avoid people seeing him. As said before he is very skittish and does all that he can not to be seen. The rare exception is when one day, a lonely, sad faced girl came into the shop.

100% Cotton

Vaidao looked at the pink-ish creature standing in the dully lit room. It had a pale face, long brown hair, and a few freckles here and there. Vaidao also noticed something funny on its face... They had metal frames holding glass together. How odd.
Vaidao hid behind a gumball machine while the creature looked around. Every once in a while Vaidao would peek over the edge of the machine to see what it was doing.
Suddenly it looked at him. Not knowing what to do he spun around and hopped off the counter. A stuffed spider was crawling around chasing roaches across the floor...
Vaidao made a series of motions with his wings at the spider which in turn made a series of gestures with four of its legs.
This was obviously their only way of communicating seeing as how Vaidao's mouth was sewn up and the spider didn't even have a mouth.

Vaidao met this little spider right after the toy shop had closed down. It was one of the only plushies left in the shop, other than Vaidao.. some of the other, less fortunate ones were taken by crows or something else, something bigger. Vaidao and this spider had a special bond since neither could talk; they developed their own sort of sign language. Any way, Vaidao spent a lot of time with this little spider and noticed the tag on the back of it. It read 100% Cotton. Having no other name to go by this was soon the little plushies calling. Cotton for short.

The Companion

This is Cotton. As you have learned, Cotton is a plushie spyder. The little guy was also left behind when the shop closed down. He is also a reject plushie but not of the same factory line. You see he was a mess up on the very first production line of the custom Bright Halloween Spiders. Originally the spiders were supposed to have 8 eyes and 8 legs. As you can see, Cotton is severly lacking both those areas. The fabric and colors were right though (;

Any hoo, he likes to chase bugs across the floor. Mainly roaches because they put up a good chase. Other than that he sits around and /talks/ with Vaidao.

Gum on the bottom of your shoe

Slowly you walked over to the gum ball machine and peer behind it. the creature wasn't there any more but you could tell that it just jumped down because of the cloud of dust left behind. Not to mention the loud thud you heard only a few seconds ago.
You lean over the edge of the counter and notice a small shape pressed against the walls of the counter as well as a small looking bug.. maybe a spider? They were obviously trying not to be seen.
As quietly as you could, you reach over the counter and grab the larger of the two figures. It was definitely some kind of plushie/rodent hybrid...thing. It clawed at your hands with its one nail on the tips of it wings. (It didn't hurt that bad. sort of felt like the tingling feeling you get when your leg falls asleep and its just waking up again.) As you pulled it closer to your face you could see that it was a plushie bat. Its stomach was filled with way to much fluff and its mid-section with too little. Its little eyes were huge! and it kept peering up at you in ultimate fear.

What's your name little one?

It didn't respond. it just sat there in your hand and quivered. You decided to set the fellow down on the counter. Mostly in hopes that you wouldn't give the thing a heart attack if it even had a heart. And as guessed the little thing scampered away.

Looking around the toy shop you sort of feel cozy. as if this is a place where you belong. Maybe your secret hide out where nobody else can get you, or bother you. You decide quickly that you will return to this place whenever possible. This new place that felt like home.

Why Vaidao?

So, i didn't ever think that i would be applying for a plushie pet *since they are really hard to create a personality for* but when i saw Vaidao, i don't know what happened. I looked at her and immediately an idea popped into my mind and it all started spilling out on paper and the keyboard. I started drawing as soon as i could and the story already was forming in my mind. However, the next time i looked i had seen that Vaidao was a female. and that's when my heart fell out of my chest and the rats nibbled on it. Then i really thought about it and knew that just because i had started the persona ect. it shouldn't stop me from applying for a pet i was totally excited about. I felt at first that Vaidao was masculine and so i knew that even if he is a she at the moment, that could be changed (HAHA b/c i read the FAQ on the forums!) if i was lucky enough to adopt Vaidao. This will be explained more in the future/plans section. But my main reason for applying for Vaidao is because i have never had such an inspiration like this before and believe me, i am going to use it. So that is why i chose to apply.

So, now that that number one reason is out in the open, i am going to be totally honest and cut the garbage. Vaidao is clearly a UC plushie Korbat. I would NEVER EVER trade him for anything. Yes, i do like the fact that he is a UC. but not because of the 'value' of him. Who doesnt perfer the old school neopets? so that did play a huge part in why i wanted to apply. There isnt a neopet that i would trade Vai for. period.

Way back When

In the shops glory days, an old man ran the shop. He had glasses upon his face and wrinkles that stretched from the edges of is eyes to his temples. He was an avid collector of plushies that happened to get messed up while being manufactured (among these plushies included Vaidao and Cotton). The old man had ran the shop for many years and as those years continued to collect, the shop grew more dingy than ever. Dust on the shelves stopped being dusted, the floor was no longer swept, and the old man started to appear less frequently. Vaidao watched all this progress from a distance. One day the old man had a serious coughing fit and fell to the floor holding his chest. Then the coughing stopped and he didn't get off the floor. A few days later men in blue uniforms took the old man away and a few crying ladies came later on to collect most of the plushies. Vaidao and Cotton hid from these people, not wanting to leave the shop, their home. A few plushies were left on the shelves, most taken away by birds later on. All that is left of the once bright place were a few toys, bugs, Vaidao, and Cotton.

The dust is settling

The pink-ish creature didn't come back for several days. but when it finally did it looked rather sad. Almost instantly it walked over to the cash register and sulked. Vaidao looked at it curiously from afar. It couldn't be that dangerous. I mean it did let me go the first time, Vaidao thought. He looked around frantically before he found what he was searching for. A small marble, pink and black on the inside. It was one of his favorite possessions. He picked it up and wobbled over to the creature. He must have startled it because it jumped back and grabbed at its chest. The thing looked down at Vaidao, obviously calmer now. He decided to lift the marble above his head so the pink creature could get a good look at it. It sort of just starred for a minute questionably so Vaidao set it on the counter and pushed it toward the creature slightly. Then he looked up again waiting for some sort of reaction.

What exactly is the Creature?

So if you haven't noticed yet, the creature in the story is me. And i don't want to spoil the ending so i won't say much more about that. The image above is a picture of me and my brand new shades. fo sho!

Real Life Spiders

I spend a lot of my time thinking up crazy sonario's and drawing creepy little animals. i have always had that weird *OH MY GOSH VAMPIRES AND ANYTHING THAT EATS YOUR FACE OFF/cuteness* = awesomeness personality. But eh, you can't blame me... Vaidao loves me yes? it cant be that hard for you!

On a spider WEB?

Woo and Hoo. So all about what i do on neo. I pretty much sit around and chat with my friend discussing our newest character designs or bug each other about fan art!. Or i mess with my petpages, enter contests *such as Site Spotlight* , and the BC (which has been difficult getting trophies lately). Other than those two things i just make my usual 10-30K a day or keyquest and that's about it. I am always playing with my characters designs and petpages though.
There is probably one thing you should know about my Neo life as of recently, i decided to start applying for another pet since i thought Vaidao wouldnt ever be adopted out (im so glad that Vaidaos character didnt go to waste). Im not sure if that is okay or not. or if that will even hurt my chances at Vai.

Silent Marbles Dropping

It had been a tough day at home and at school. You feel as if the only place left is the toy shop which is where you start to head. Once you get there, you crawl in through the broken window around the side because the door is nailed shut.
It looked the same as always. Poor neglected toys littered the floors and shelves while dust took its place upon them. You walk over to the stool that sat awkwardly behind the ancient register and get comfortable on it.

Thump thump thump

Startled, you look down only to find the creature you encountered not so long ago. It stared at you for a moment then pulled out a marble. In what seemed to be an offering of some sort, he held it above his head so she could get a better look. Quizzically, you just stared at it. What else were you supposed to do? He laid it down on the counter and pushed it towards you a bit.. You decide to pick it up and examine it before looking back down at the plushie.

At that moment you felt a bond between the two of you.

Do you not have a name? i guess not since you don't have any tags on you. Hmm i think i shall call you... (Thinking long and hard about it you suddenly have an idea) Since the stores sign says Vaidao i think i shall call you that!!! Sound good?

The creature jumped with excitement, or what you felt was excitement any way.

Next time i come i shall bring my family so you can meet them!! they are an odd bunch and i am sure you will love them!

As she promised she brought her family. And also as she promised they were a very unique bunch. at first Vaidao was a little intimidated by them. She had dogs. One had very large scissors protruding from his paws. However, that one just looked around the place cutting up any scrap paper on the floor he could find. The other one was rather large and well, stupid. It was weird. He spent most of the time sticking his tongue out as far as he could just to see the markings on it. The last one kind of just starred off into space like he was thinking long an hard about something. Lastly, she had a snake. Not good for small rodents like Vaidao. It didnt seem like it was very threatening though, so Vaidao had no worries. yet.

A Promis is a Promis

So this is my Family. They are the only things i have going for me and i love having a small group. I don't know i just prefer having a tight knit family that i can perfect and care for!
However, i think its time for a new member of the family
Ehdwarrd was my pet (on the account that was hacked and self iced) and Felester is a lupe that i applied for but my friend got instead. Then Glolian and Tauxen are mine.

This is Ehdwarrd. I decided to make Ehddy because i am a huge Edward Scissorhands fan and the idea of having my own similar character just tickled my fancy. However, he is a collab character with a friend. She had a lupe *named dominate* and his character is based off Sweeney Todd (she traded him and is no longer a collab). However, the idea was that they both own a barber shop together and Ehddy, being the more stupid of the two cuts hair for the customers getting a shave. He doesn't exactly find anything wrong with what Sweeney does but not knowing any better how can he? So he minds is own business and cuts hair, paper, bushes, anything that he can really get his hands onto. Oh and he has killed a man before. It was a complete accident.. kind of.. he doesn't really like to talk about it.

And we have Felester (aka Viccarious). Felester is not my neopet, although i wish he were. He is a pirate lupe that i applied for and i didnt get. However, i feel as if he is family already. He has one of those, /I AM A PSYCHO/ personalities. His crew mutinied against him because they found him to insane to be a captain. In turn he has spent the majority of the time attempting to decipher the map on his tongue. So as you can imagine, he looks pretty nuts with his tongue hanging out all of the time. Again Felester is not mine but i gave his personality and design to Viccarious. I wont let a design and an amazing character go to waste.

Tauxen is probably my favorite character out of the bunch i have. His design is absolute love to me. (Also check out how far my art skills have come along). He is an experiment that went wrong and esscentially the whole thing ends up being a zombie outbreak because of him. However, he isnt a total zombie, he is normal but with zombie qualities and he also is sort of Alpha.

Then we have Glolian. He was actually a gift from a random guy. i really wanted a hissi for a while because i love snakes, i would never actually own one but i find them so fascinating. Any hoo, i just felt like drawing snakes one day and thats how he came to join my family. i need to work on him a lot more and actually come up with a story. i think my plan is to make them all lab rats or something like that. Sort of connect all the stories.

Rebuild the Store?

okay, so my general plans consist of:

Petpage: I really enjoy making petpages and my art has come soooo far (look at Tauxen's petpage, his art is the most recent). The layouts are fun for me and i quite often update them because i like to make the layouts. And the content of course is always fun. So you can be sure that Vaidao will receive a very pretty petpage layout filled with loads of content. Also i would normally do a petpage preview but i change the layouts so oftan now that it would be pointless since basically all the content on here will be there. And my i need to update all of the art, which i simply can not do in 2 weeks with work and my math class over summer quarter (i got to a community college)! however if i did Vaidao, then this layout (minus the application information) would take the place of the petpage until i got a future petpage made! (trust me, i am going to start on a picture asap, whether i get Vai or not)

Pet Lookup: WOO HOO! as i do not enjoy making these so much as i do petpages but no fear, Vaidao will get a pet lookup. and you will probably see the preview later on.

Future BC entry

So this will be the first step in the future with Vaidao!
This is the beauty contest preview. and i must say i am very pleased with how it turned out! So this obviously means that i will be active with him in the BC! OH and i also plan to use Vaidao for a comic entry. Maybe i will get lucky with him and finally get accepted and get the lovely little trophy! Although, you know my sense of humor.
