Arietea {under construction}

Name: Arietea
Age: 12
Appearance: A child-ghost, mostly blue, approx. 4'6", small build, greenish-blue eyes., wearing a star-embossed translucent blue cloak over a striped blue t-shirt and red tank-top combo and a puffy white skirt supported by several layers of tulle. In human form, she has tightly curled hair, a wide, flat nose, and a rounded face with low-set cheekbones.
Abilities: Can summon a spirit-weapon, channel spirit-energy to move, lift, and push objects, and recite spells. In Arie's world ghosts' powers are emotion-based, so emotional states can effect the success of these efforts.
Location: Arie resides in a seaside town called Hilmington near the port city of Caranas. The town is hilly and reminiscent of San Francisco or Athens, with narrow, winding Parisian-esque streets and clustered low-rise buildings. The town is both a port and a farming community, the main agricultural products being olives and pistachios. In spite of being near the ocean, the town has a hot and relatively dry climate, with heavt winds occurring more often than heavy rains.

Backstory

Arietea had trained for most of her short life as an apprentice witch (alongside her best friend Lalena), growing up in a community of several well-established witchcraft-practicing families. In the thirteenth week of a witch's thirteenth year, she must undergo a trial in the area of her training. Arietea had chosen to become a potion maker like her father, and so when the day came she was tasked with creating a number of complicated potions which would in turn be used as the ingredients for a particularly difficult potion of invisibility. Arietea's potion failed, though because it appeared identical to the correct potion, she drank a sizable amount--turning her the wrong shade of invisible.
Arietea's passing is just the beginning of her story, however. An angry and grief-stricken Lalena vowed never to use magic again--though in the end, she edited the vow to never become a witch, since she was so adept as to accidentally use magic. In fact, Lalena accidentally caused Arietea to become a ghost, though neither of them is aware that this is the cause of Arie's current state. Arietea's father was so overwhelmed by guilt that he chose to drink what remained of Arietea's potion, leaving her mother alone and doubly aggrieved. Though a community of powerful witches, the town of Hilmington did not previously host any ghosts, and in fact no one in town believed in ghosts before Arietea returned as one. Imagine her mother's surprise to discover the house only half as empty as she expected.

Character

Because Arietea unknowingly attracts corrupted soul-beasts, wraiths, ghouls, and other ghosts, she often has to battle these creatures. Though she was only average as a witch, Arietea is extraordinarily powerful as a ghost, and has taken defeating these creatures in stride.
Despite being able to go as far from home as she wishes, Arietea rarely goes into town. She spends most of her time in her mother's house or in the surrounding farmland and wilderness. She also occasionally visits Lalena's home, though Lalena is far more likely to visit Arietea's house so that Arie's mother has company.

Personality

Arietea is reserved and quiet around most people but becomes more outgoing around her friends and family. She lacks self-confidence, but it doesn't show until she has to confront a difficult task. She is almost never angry, but when she is it comes out in a short, physical outburst (breaking or throwing something, hitting someone, etc). Arie seems in denial about the implications of being dead, but in truth while she's upset, she's decided that the best thing she can do is to keep moving forward.

She likes: The forest, the farm, the smell of the ocean coming up into the hills in the evening, animals, potions, cleaning, and jazz music.

She dislikes: Confrontation, fighting monsters, incantations, uncertainty, cloudy nights, rain.
