~ Roleplay; (Verb) Roleplaying is the main, perhaps even only reason I, along with many others, stay firmly rooted to this silly 'Neopets' website. Why can't we leave? Why are we addicted so to this 'acting out' of things? Because we are born writers, or writers-to-be. |

~ Literate; (Noun) Also known as 'advanced.' A person who has explosive vocabulary, uses correct punctuation, grammar, spelling, and who's posts always correspond to the Roleplay. Literates are people who are the most experienced Roleplayers, or simply the 'best' of them. Their posts make sense, are easy to read, and are typically interesting. Literates are not often found on the Roleplaying Boards. Semi-Literate; (Noun) The average Roleplayer. They use mostly correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Their posts almost always correspond to the Roleplay, and usually are quite interesting. Although they might have a few mistakes in their introductions and action posts, they are just a few steps away from becoming Literate. Despie; (Noun) A person who is desperate for romance and/or attention. They are overbearing and sickly sweet when actually coming upon 'romance' Roleplays. They instantly place themselves in a weak, need-of-instance stance when they Roleplay, and their introductions are brief and dripping with askance for pity. Illiterate; (Adjective or Noun) Not to be confused with despie, although they are similar in form. Illiterates are people who clearly cannot Roleplay. Their symptons can include defectiveness in punctuation, grammar and spelling, blindness to other people's posts, and occasionally powerplaying or godmoding. (See below definitions.) Powerplay; (Verb)
Also known as PP. (PP and GM are terms often found in rules to a Roleplay topic.) Powerplaying is when you take control of the Roleplay, not giving your companions any room to work or defend themselves. Ex. Godmode; (Verb) Also known as GM. Godmoding is when you are making your character invincible, incredibly strong, undefeatable. The injuries your opponents 'inflict' are nonexistant, as your character manages to dodge and block every single one of them. Ooc; (Adjective) Stands for Out of Character. Used on the Roleplay boards when you are not Roleplaying. Can also be indicated, instead of saying 'Ooc' as asterisks, parenthesis, or any other. (See Examples)
Stands for Back in Character. Used on the Roleplay boards when you had said something on Ooc and are returning to the Roleplay on the same post. (See Examples) |

~ Note: All of these people I have asked permission for to use one of their random posts as an example. To avoid any virtual sporks thrown at me, I have written the despie examples myself. If you recognize one of your posts here and want me to take it off, please, Neomail me! Literate;
A dark purple griffon sat placidly in her cage. A black ruff encircled her neck, and a tuft of ebon fur sprouted from the tip of her tail. Dark wings lay across her back, and she drowsily lifted her head to preen them. Semi-Literate († or -)

He is wearing a black swordsman's shirt with, a brown studded leather breastplate, two brown leather gloves with studs on the cuff, black pants, black hard leather vambraces, tall brown hard leather boots, and a green cloak. The man carried weapons such as: a silver swept hilt rapier, a poisoned dagger, a quiver full of arrows, and a black bow. This man's name was Al. Al was a warrior who can move swiftly and silently. He did as he pleased and served no lord. Al is a Half-Elf. His instrument was a flute with a green feather tied on the end. The feather was from an Elvin magic bird, so it made the tune better. Al was a good flute player without the magic. Al had long blonde hair which covered his ears and greenish-grey eyes. Black daggers hit the earth in a mad gallop. Jet black mane and tail flowed after the buckskin. His amber orbs scanned the plains of grass and a few trees and a lake. The buckskin came to a halt rearing and letting out a piercing neigh while daggers struck the air. The stallion came down and scanned the area once more for signs of others. His calling ,Ember.
