Introduction

Trouble Beneath

Standing, feet deep under dark waters
As dripping echoes, instilling great fear
Stalagmites dangle, piercing jagged teeth
My frozen limbs hang from their weary joints
Feet trudge through the dank gloomy darkness
Hands searching and grasping at air
There seems no end to this empty expanse
As my eyes just see darkness of night
I wander endless awaiting some light
Praying for some life, a way to escape

Slithering tentacles slice through the night
Crying out I stumble, falling through an expanse
My body hits nothing, plunging through air
Hands and feet flailing out, a deepest fear
Gasping, my eyes are now greeted by darkness
I see it, a bright and welcoming light
The sudden truth relieving my clenched teeth
But even so, I feel my screaming joints
As I trudge away from the unforgiving waters
A reminder of my welcomed escape

Rain plummeted down on the weary travelers as they started to doubt themselves and the mission. It's been months since they lasted spotted land, and the sea has given them everything it's got... or so at least they thought. The sky lit up with shattering rage, but no one took notice; not even a wince. The sailors were hardened, their sea legs stiffened with the relentless wind battering the ship around. They might as well have been an egg out here in the middle of the ocean: fragile, small, and out of place. But they too had precious cargo, something that could manipulate the beast they sought. Everything seemed against them, the waters, the sky, wind, and weather. Maybe even fate. But they had to push on.
Such power could not be ignored, it was too tempting.

The Creature

There is a place that is overlooked on the maps of Neopia. A small island you wouldn't find unless you knew where it was. And even if you did know, good luck getting past the mist. It lies far out in the ocean, far away from bigger continents of land. The only frequent visitors are the gulls who dare only visit to rest their feet for a few minutes. Each wave that crashes ashore makes them beat their wings in a horrified frenzy.

The beaches of Tauche Island have always looked innocent enough. The inhabitants knew that it would be unwise to try to leave the island. You'll never hear explanations from them as to why, though. Just listen... even though they're only whispers. Talking about it is believed to be cursed.

Surrounded in mist, Tauche island is near impossible to find. Even if you do get too close to the waters surrounding, the fog is the last thing you need to worry about. The Tauchians know not to go too far out in the depths with their little fishing boats, or to think or talk about leaving: doing these things is foolish.

The monster might hear you.
Be wary when the sun starts to set.

It was said the creature started out innocent enough, but the years have worn him down, and the oceans have polluted his mind. Little by little he grew, until only one part of the ocean could support him. The only part deep enough to keep him hidden. Down here, the icy chill chokes and strangles even the strongest of swimmers. Only sheer mass will keep you alive.

Arbanaba

Name: Arbanaba
Local Translation: Deep Horror
Pet Name: Banana
Species:Nautilus
Gender: Male
Age: Unknown
Species: Jetsam
Color: Mutant
Status: Unconverted

Though a cephalopod, Arbanaba is able to express emotions very easily.
I warn you, it's best to stay away when he's in a bad mood.
Believe me, you don't want to be around when his eyes turn red and pupils narrow.

Not so cute anymore, huh?
If you feel it best to not provoke him, you should probably know what makes his tentacles curl.

Arbanaba is a deep water monster who inhabits the waters around Tauche island. He prefers to be secluded, and he avoids the light of day. Arbanaba is a very territorial creature, and does not allow ships or other land dwellers swim his waters without facing his wrath and destruction. He personally owns a ghost shipyard at the bottom of his deep chasm, where he likes to rest when the sun is up.

The only known human being that he tolerates is me, and this is completely without his choosing. I have in my position and ancient artifact that calms the monsters rath, and makes him do my bidding. Only once did Arbanaba touch down upon land to answer the call of my revenge.

When Arbanaba was a newborn, it was said that he was accepted and
raised by another creature of the deep. The little love in his
heart belongs to one creature, and one creature alone.
Hydranna.

Toybox

Arb's name sounds legendary, and has an island sound to it. When I hear Arbanaba I think of the giant sea creature that he is. It also makes a epic tongue twister. Try saying it ten times fast!

Arbanaba! Arbanaba! Arabanab... Arhabana... Are Banana.. Ow.. my head hurts
