TIPS FOR THE AVATAR
This is the part you've been waiting for, right? Well, hopefully you've read this guide fully, because there are tips in every sentence I wrote (for the most part). Maneuvering through the obstacles, mastering the controls, its all the basic foundation for getting the avatar in this game, and, potentially, a high score. There are no codes for a higher score in this game, so you need to rely on your skills only.
My first tip, and one that I know comes up in every single Petpet Rescue guide, is to get the gems. Seriously, they help. Gems can be located on either one of the two areas in each level, but in level 1 on the first area. The gem points are as follows, Pink/Purple - 5 Points, Blue - 10 Points, Green - 15 Points, and Red - 25 Points. These gems are oh-so helpful in boosting your score, and at the third level, they are vital in reaching 250!
Lose a life, then restart. It may be frustrating, believe me, I restarted tons of times, but honestly, the points needed in the third level to reach 250+ are very hard to get on one life. If you lose a life in level 1, restart. Level 1, after a lot of practice, can be finished in 20 seconds (not that hard) and should be a piece of cake. Level 2, on the other hand, can be a pain in the neck. If you lose more than one life on level 2, then restart. Level 3 is very, very difficult, and even 2 lives, its hard to get the points. I've done Level 1 and 2 perfect before, and died all 4 times on level 3, and got a score of 235, it was horrible. Don't let losing a life get to you, but you have to know when you should restart.
Restarting on the first level if you don't get 3 or 4 gems is also an option, but one I didn't use. Gems can be found on each of the three levels in a random amount, and I wouldn't restart on level 1 unless you lost a life.
I also recommend stopping before you get too frustrated or mad at the game. Petpet Rescue requires a lot of concentration, and if you're mad because you got so close to the avatar (as I was a lot), then go take the time to cool off before coming back and playing.
Practice! Its a cliche tip, but its true! In this game, each level has the same obstacles. The only thing different is the timing and frequency of the stalactites. In each level, the mine carts and the boulders move the same speed, the same pattern, it doesn't change. After you practice a while, you can work up a strategy to pass the level using what you know about the obstacles, because they don't change.
In addition to my movement techniques, I have found an easy way to navigate between the boulders on the third level. This may be very important in determining whether or not you will get the avatar, because at this point its all about getting those last few gems and Petpet or two to get the 250+ score. First, go forward, and follow the first row of boulders left, then, once the second set of boulders has an opening, go up and follow the boulders right, and wait for the opening between the 2 sets of 4 boulders in the third row. Then go up, and go to the second area of land, which, mind you, takes a lot of mine cart hopping to get to, and collect those gems. Then, get the petpets you need, and you should be well on your way to having the 250+ score needed for the avatar! See the images below for a look on how this strategy works.
