Freezing Items Pt 1

Freezing Items Pt 1

Mar. 24, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Since the storm up north from where I am (UK) is still there and it's swept all the icy winds from the Arctic down here so there's hail, sleet, snow and rain all the time, I thought we'll look at freezing items.

You are always recommended one Freezing item – and you're only allowed one freezing item per pet. There are many types of different freezers in Neopia, many of which has only a fraction of freezing and are inexpensive, most of the time, and there are others that guarantee 100% freezing, but they usually either break forever after being used or disappears for the duration of the battle.

Note that Freezing weapons won't work on rounds when you use a Prismatic Mirror or the Rainbow Swirly Thing. Also, if you're using an ECA (Everlasting Apple) with a freezer, click on the ECA first before clicking on the freezer.

The Calculation Device guarantees 100% freeze then breaks forever. 200k

The Amulet of Chaos may freeze either yourself OR your opponent, or it heals 2 HP for you OR your opponent, OR it drains 2 HP from you or your opponent. Single use, then breaks forever. 700k

There are also special species freezers which can be only used by the specified pet. Such as:

Icy CHIA Goggles – 100% freeze. Once per battle. 3.1m

ELEPHANTE Stunray – attacks 3 Fire, 3 Water and 2 Air icons. 2.4% of freezing and takes up your freeze slot. It can freeze more than once, but it has a very low percentage of freezing. 40k

GELERT Blade of Frozen Wrath – attacks 3 Air and 3 Earth icons. It has a low percentage of freezing and is semi-fragile, which means that it MAY break forever. 800k

Pearly KOI Bubble Net – 14-16.5% freezing. Can be used multiple times. None priced.

Entangling LENNY Lasso – 100% freeze, once per battle. 2.9m.

LENNY Ray Gun of Freezing – 100% freeze, once per battle. 3m.

LUPE Wand – 100% freezing, once per battle. Can also break forever. 30k

Ancient LUPE Wand – 100% freeze, once per battle. Can break forever but less frequently than Lupe Wand. 15k

MEERCA Mesh Net – 14-16.5% of freezing. Can be used multiple times. 73k

Golden PEOPHIN Harp – defends 2 Dark icons. 100% freeze. None on TP.

POOGLE Liquid Freeze Potion – attacks 2 Air and 2 Water icons. 14% of freezing, semi-fragile. None priced.

QUIGGLE Sword of Terror – attacks 2 Fire, 1-2 Physical and can freeze. Fragile. None priced.

Personally, I would find it more useful to buy a species freezer than a 100% freezer such as a H4k Helmet, because it is just so much cheaper since not all species can use a species freezer. However, as you can see, they are really rare (most of them r99) and rather expensive. I hope this spotlight boosted your knowledge of freezing items at least! More freezing items coming next week!

Faerie Abilities (Earth)

Mar. 17, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Well, what a coincidence – today is Illusen Day and we're also looking at Earth Faerie Abilities! Earth Faerie Abilities come from Earth Faerie in-a-bottle, such as a Bottled Earth Faerie! Bless your pet and get an ability!

At level 1, Magic Pebbles blocks you one Water icons.

At level 3, you get Tough Skin, which, like Magic Pebbles, blocks one Water icon.

Magic Berries is at level 6 which gives you 1 Magic Berries if you're under level 20.

At level 10 you get Burrow! Now THAT'S a good ability! It blocks 97.5% of all the icons in one turn, so that is practically a down-levelled Thyora's Tear!

Level 12, there is Negg. Negg grants you a Negg, obviously, which heals 1-4 HP. Not at all useful. (*secretary nods head*)

Twisting Vines comes at level 15 which does one Dark icon and one Physical. This counts as one of the 'more useful' abilities in Earth. Strange that it doesn't do Earth icons.

Great Feast is at level 19 which gives you 2-5 Magic Apples, depending on your level. What those apples do, goodness knows?

Regeneration. Ah, another useful ability. It heals 33% of your lost HP, which means, if you've lost 100HP you get 33HP. Very useful.

At level 30 you get Stone Legion as a final ability, which does, hm? Absolutely nothing at all, according to my secretary.

Well I hope this has added itself to your storage of knowledge (that rhymes!) of your Faerie Abilities! See you next week!

DoN 1 - Meuka

Mar. 10, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Well, after the crazy run-about-screaming and throwing Meepits around, even my secretary's taking a day off going dancing with his new Remix with his Meepity mates (*eyes betraying secretary trotting off*) so, I'll try to manage without him for today, and let's look at Defenders of Neopia Series 1, up against the snotty, unhygienic Meuka!!

Meuka can be obtained as a challenger by one of your pets catching Sneezles or Neoflu, then viewing Quick Reference. You can get this disease, most likely, from the Wheel of Misfortune, or occasionally Wheel of Excitement when the disease turns to Sneezles or Neoflu (it changes from time to time). Recommended stats: Hit points 35, Strength 20, Defence 20 and Level 10.

Recommended equipment: Snowglobe Staff (25k) – fragile, Purple Sticky Hand (2k), 3 Fire Muffins (1.4k each), Scarab Ring (1.5k), Greater Healing Scroll (30k) – or any healer that can heal half health up to full health such as Lesser Healing Scroll as alternate (2.5k), Leaf Shield (9k).

Recommended Abilities: Fierce Attack, Burrow (Earth Faerie ability 4 level 10), Fiery Gaze (Fire Faerie ability 3 level 6)

Here's how you smash the snot out of Meuka!

Turn 1: Fiery Gaze and Purple Sticky Hand and Snowglobe Staff. Purple Sticky Hand MUST steal, and either Fiery Gaze OR Snowglobe Staff MUST freeze. If it didn't work, withdraw, heal at the Healing Faerie's or similar, and try again).

Turn 2: Throw 2 Fire Muffins and Fierce Attack.

Turn 3: Downsize Power Plus (that you would have stolen with your Purple Sticky Hand) and Fire Muffin and Fierce Attack.

Turn 4: Leaf Shield and Scarab Ring and Fierce Attack. If you are in danger of losing, use Greater Healing Scroll/Lesser Healing Scroll and Scarab Ring. He should be beaten by now, if not, move onto Turn 5.

Turn 5: Burrow and Scarab Ring and Leaf Shield. He should be beaten by now.

When you beat him, you will get the Meuka – Snotty! Avatar. Congrats! You've earned a new trophy AND a new avatar!

ToW Prizes

Mar. 3, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Merry joy is upon us, now the much-awaited-for Tale of Woe plot prizes are out! Also within the prizes are five Battledome weapons, and today I shall tell you what each of them do and how effective they are! (Secretary: *goggles at Ghost Meepit Dance Party Ultra Remix*)

The cheapest weapon, for 1500 points, is the Villager Pitchfork. Right now it sells for 14k and does one Fire, two Water, two Earth plus an additional Fire icon, which is a total of six icons overall. A spooky version of Scarab Ring but without the blockers. A Scarab Ring could do better than a Villager Pitchfork because it can also block three Fire and three Physical.

The next weapon is Accursed Mittens, costing 3000 points and currently 50k. They do two Physical icons plus four Physical icons. Again, not very useful as any type of Supersize would be able to block it.

After that comes Creeping Shadow Hammer, which costs 4500 points or 40k and does three Dark and three Physical icons, whilst blocking two Light. Although cheaper in NPs than the Mittens, this one is more useful than them.

Thumburts Cane costs 10000 points or 120k. It does three Light and three Physical – the same amount of icons as the Creeping Shadow Hammer, but the Cane blocks three Earth icons also. Not a very good boost, considering the extra costs.

The rusty lamppost, costing 120k and the highest points, 12000, does five Light icons and blocks three Dark and three Physical. It does less icons than the Cane and even at times, less than the Villager Pitchfork.

Overall, the Battledome weapons of ToW prizes are a little disappointing, since many cheap weapons can beat the meeps out of them. However, if you really wanted to get a weapon from ToW, I think the Cane is the best over all of them, since the lamppost costs the same in NPs.

Neoquest II Prizes

Feb. 24, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Well, today we're going to look at Neopians' favourite non-flash game – Neoquest II! It is different from Neoquest one, because you do not gain Neopoints from levelling up, instead you get a large prize and a Battledome item when you complete the game – which can take lots of patience! I myself have yet to complete the Normal difficulty on NQ II, but the prizes are so fabulous as you progress through Evil and Insane difficulty, you are guaranteed to drool!

When you finish Normal difficulty, which is the easiest level, you get a Bronze Neoquest Trophy, 10k in Neopoints, and a weapon out of the following: Mipsys Charm Bracelet, Rohanes Armour Polish, Talinias Whittling Knife or Velms Healing Potion.

Mipsys Charm Bracelet sells for about 9k on Shop Wizard and attacks 2 Light icons whilst defending 2 Dark and 2 Air icons. It isn't very helpful where damage is concerned, though.

Rohanes Armour Polish does three Earth icons and three Physical icon and sells for approximately 1.6k on Shop Wizard. Again, not very useful when it comes to damage.

Talinias Whittling Knife inflicts 3 Fire icons and 3 Physical icons. Once more, not useful, and sells for 5k.

Velms Healing Potion heals 10% of your Maximum HP, sells for 6k. Not very useful, for the ability Regeneration or similar can heal more. Overall Normal difficulty weapons are hardly worth anything. Most of the time Neopians play it only to get up to the Evil difficulty in order to receive better prizes.

When you finish Evil difficulty, which is the middle level, you get a Silver Neoquest Trophy, 30k in Neopoints and a weapon out of the following: Halo of Devilpuss, Ramtors Spellbook, Scuzzys Comb or Tooth of Terask.

Halo of Devilpuss costs 72k and attacks five Dark and five Physical icons, a rather good, yet cheap weapon to own in the Battledome.

Ramtors Spellbook is one of the higher rank weapons when it comes to battling and is usually part of a more powerful Battledomer's battle set. It sells for 445k and does five Light and five Dark icons.

Scuzzys Comb is also quite sought-after by Battledomers. Costing 270k, it inflicts five light icons and five Physical icons, quite useful.

Tooth of Terask, however, is one of the "lamer" prizes from the Evil difficulty. Costing only 20k, it also only does three Water and three Air icons, whilst defending a standard of three Dark icons. Hardly effective, compared to the other three prizes you can get.

As you finish Evil difficulty, you get to the highest level of all – InSaNe! Insane by name and insane by nature, it is the very hardest Neoquest II level you can play! If you manage to finish it, however, the prizes are sure to blow your mind away. You will get a Gold Neoquest Trophy, 50k and one of the following weapons: Bow of Destiny, Staff of Righteous Fury, Sword of Apocalypse or Wand of Reality.

Bow of Destiny does five Earth, five Air and three Fire icons, costing over 3 million on the Trading post. It is an extremely strong weapon to use in the Battledome.

Staff of Righteous Fury costs 325k – a rather big gap in price between it and the Bow of Destiny – and does seven Light icons and one Physical, and additionally, four Physical icons. It does 7.5 to 12 full icons as far as damage is concerned. It is pretty useful, albeit the difference in price.

Sword of Apocalypse's price is 1.12 million and inflicts three Fire, five Dark and one Physical and additionally four Physical icons. The actual range is from 8.47 to 13 in terms of pure damage, however. It is not as expensive as the Bow of Destiny, but not as powerful either.

Wand of Reality, like Ramtors Spellbook, is usually part of a more powerful Battledomer's battle set. Costing 4.4 million, it also does five Light icons, Five Air icons and three Physical icons. It is an extremely useful weapon, although also the most expensive.

Do note, however, that you will only receive the prize for Insane difficulty once. You can complete Normal or Evil difficulties multiple times and be able to receive the weapon (random respectively) and the Neopoints each time, but completing the Insane level over and over you will only get the Neopoints bonus.

Good luck, Neoquesters – I hope you succeed in finishing the rather tedious game and enjoy your new weapons!

Faerie Abilities (Darkness)

Feb. 17, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

This week we look at faerie abilities once more – the darkness abilities, in fact. Darkness may seem ominous and witchy but they are one of the most useful abilities you could have when battling your opponent. I will go over each of the abilities in the order that you receive them when blessing with a Bottled Dark Faerie.

At level two, Night Vision is your first ability. Like most beginning level abilities, it isn't very useful – it blocks only one Dark icon.

Nighttime follows, at level 4. It does nothing.

Similar with the next ability at level 7, Temporal Leak, which does nothing either. {Secretary: MEE MEEP! {Translation: Reminds you of, er, Air abilities?})

Shroud and Demon Breath, at level 10 and 12 respectively, does nothing either. Darkness is not one for providing useful abilities through-and-through. But then again, what faerie ability does?

Shadow Health at level 17 heals 1-8 HP. Useful for beginner Battledomers, although some item healers, such as healing scrolls or Scorchstones, can heal much better. Species healer helps a lot too.

Drain Life, at level 21, is one of the most vital abilities you can have in the Battledome, after Sink and Burrow. It steals 11% of your opponent's hitpoints up to a maximum of 100 and your pet receives them. Remember Razul from the Lost Desert Plot? Remember the Mayor? I wonder how many hitpoints Drain Life can steal from the two plot bosses?

Last comes Sink, at level 30. With Burrow, the two are the most useful abilities in the Battledome. It defends 97.5% of every icon inflicted upon you in one go, although it works only once per battle. If you have both Sink as well as Burrow, then you are guaranteed to block many, many icons!

Well I hope this week's rather short Battledome Korner has enlightened your knowledge of the abilities. Many skilled Battledomers have had needs for their abilities, and I'm sure you would too!

DoN 1 - Cave Chia

Feb. 10, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Today we will have a peek at Defenders of Neopia, opponent? Cave Chia! You get his challenge by refreshing here: http://www.neopets.com/pre historic/painting2.phtml (remove space), after that, off we trot to the Battledome!

The Cave Chia is difficulty 58 and holds the following weapons. Blue Frost Cannon – attacks 2 Water and may freeze; Earthen Scorchstone – defends 4.5 Air and 4.5 dark icons; Stone Fire Body Basher – attacks 2 Fire; Supersize! – attacks 2 Physical and defends 1 Physical; Cave Chia Helmet – defends 2 Water and all Physical; Cave Chia Shield – defends 2 Air, 2 Earth, 2 Water and all Physical; Rock Sling – attacks 2 Earth and 2 Fire; Spiked Club – attacks 2 Light and 1-2 Physical. He has the abilities Berserk!, Dark Shield, Psychic attack and Scorch.

Should you try to steal from him, you will receive the Blue Frost Cannon for the duration of the battle.

Recommended stats: Level: 13, Strength: 25, Defence: 25, Health: 30

The Cave Chia doesn't really attack much. I'll recommend that you use an attacking weapon (for example, Scarab Ring/Obsidian Dagger) along with a defensive weapon (for example Leaf Shield) along with Burrow or Sink, if you have those abilities.

Weapons you can use (although use alternatives if you wanted to):Slime Potion; Leaf Shield; Scarab Ring; Obsidian Dagger; Scarab Stone Slingshot; Downsize!; Lightning Scroll; Dark Nova Scroll/Purple Sticky Hand.

Alternative: 2 Scarab Rings, Healing Scroll (any type)/Scorchstone (preferably Bronze at least); Leaf Shield; Downsize!; Purple Sticky Hand. Fill the remaining two slots with an Obsidian Dagger and a weapon of your choice. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! {Translation: a Meepapault is good!} Yours Truly: Yes, if Meepapaults are actually for sale *sighs*)

Personally, I would attack him head on with Fierce or Berserk! (if you have it), then (if necessary), defend and heal on the next round, and attack as well as defend on the third go until you finish him. Then off you trot, happily back to the DoN HQ to receive your new trophy!

I hope you like your shiny trophy – See you next week!

Reflectors

Feb. 3, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Well after last week's blocking and defending, I decided we should look at reflecting as well. Reflecting includes blocking, but instead of the blocked icons disappearing, they are reflected back upon the attacker! Isn't that wonderful? Imagine reflecting all the icons of a Sword of Skardsen or a Ring of the Lost!

Amulet of Reflection reflects all Fire and all Dark, but it is a one use item, however. Price: 4k

Rainbow Swirly Thing defends all Fire OR all Water OR all Air OR all Earth OR all Light OR all Dark. Reflect a random icon 60-80%. Price: None on TP. Available in Hidden Tower for 3,653,000 NP

Dryers – which reflect Air – include: Basic Dryer (1k) which reflects 25% Air (fragile); Double Dryer (2.5k) which reflects 50% Air (fragile) and Triple Turbo Dryer (None priced) which reflects 75% Air icons

U-bends – which reflect Water – include: U-Bend (150 NP) which reflects 25% Water (fragile); Super U-Bend (2k) which reflects 50% Water (fragile); Mega U-Bend (1m) which reflects 75% Water and U-Bend of Great Justice (1.5m, or 1,732,500 NP in Hidden Tower) which reflects 80-100% of the Water icons.

Mirrors – which reflect Light – include: Battle mirror (200NP) which reflect 25% Light (fragile); Dual Battle Mirror (3k) which reflect 50% Light (fragile); Kings Lens (80m [!!!]) which reflect 50% of Dark, Light and Earth; Fyoras Looking Glass (none on sale, retired) which reflect 100% or 100% - 2 light (once per battle) and Combo Battle Mirror (3.8m) which reflects 75% Light.

Reflectorbs – which reflect Dark – include: Dark Reflectorb (450NP) which reflect 25% Dark (fragile); Ultra Dark Reflectorb (3.8k) which reflect 50% Dark (fragile); Kings Lens (see above) and Ultimate Dark Reflectorb (none priced, r99) which reflects 75% Dark.

Shovels – which reflect Earth – include: Basic Shovel (200NP) which reflects 25% Earth (fragile); Shovel Plus (10k) which reflects 50% Earth (fragile); Kings Lens (see above) and Ultra Dual Shovel (12m) which reflects 75% Earth icons.

Flame Reflectors/Reflectozaps – which reflect Fire – include: Flame Reflector (200NP) which reflects 25% Fire (fragile); Turbo Flame Reflector (2k) which reflects 50% Fire (fragile); Flame Reflectozap (2.5m) which reflects 75% Fire; Clawed Shield (1.6m) which reflects 60-80% Fire and blocks 3 Dark and Reflectozap 2000 (none for sale, retired) which reflects 80-100% Fire icons.

I hope this week's spotlight has enlightened your knowledge about reflecting weapons – they are so very useful, and it is very interesting to see your opponents reflecting your attack only to be reflected back to them by *your* reflectors!

Faerie Abilities (Water)

Jan. 21, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Today we will once more evaluate one of the most relied-upon things in the Battledome – faerie abilities! In particular, we are looking in the Air Faerie abilities category today

As mentioned in the spotlight on Fire Abilities four weeks back, you need Bottled Faeries to bless your pets with in order to receive an ability, in this case, Bottled Air Faeries. Air abilities are one of the less useful abilities out of the six.

At level 1 the first ability is "Spark", which does nothing. Looks pretty though.

At level 5 you receive "Air Shield" which defends one air icon, not very useful in the Battledome.

Haste" attacks 1 Air and 1 Physical icon whilst defending 1 Physical attack, at level 8.

Thunder Tail" and "Flight" at level 10 and 12 respectively, does nothing. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP!! {Translation: Fat load of use they are! Just two bottles of wasted faeries! *grumble*})

Dive" at level 17 attacks 1 Earth, 1 Light and 1 Physical, again, not very useful in the Battledome but this is one of the 'better' abilities Air abilities can offer.

At level 21 there is "Invisibility" which does nothing.

Diamond Dust" is a good ability. It may freeze your opponent – although the ability will disappear for the battle if it freezes your opponent. It also deals 1 light icon although no damage is inflicted upon your opponent.

Last, at level 38 is "Teleport" which, also, does nothing. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! {Translation: There is probably no point of this spotlight as Diamond Dust is the only one useful} Yours Truly: *throws an asparagus at rebel secretary*)

Overall, apart from "Diamond Dust", Air abilities really does nothing, but if you're a perfectionist like me, you might want to get all the abilities. Afterall, who knows? Maybe TNT will put some uber great attack on Teleport some day.

See you next week! (*secretary waves a flat asparagus*)

DoN 1 - Meerca Henchmen

Jan. 13, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Once more we look at the crime-crushing Defenders of Series 1. This time we observe battling the Meerca Brothers, who are one (or rather, two) of the hardest opponents to defeat in ratio to the levels!

The Meerca Brothers are Heermeedjet and Meerouladen. They are the eighth opponent in your quest for the trophies for Defenders of Neopia. To obtain these brothers as a challenger you have to refresh here: http://www.neopets.com /desert/tr4pd00r.phtml (remove space) until you get the event.

What you need: 4 Icy/Water Muffins (or Ruby Elixirs); 1 freezer (Snowglobe Staff 19%, Black Frost Cannon 24%, H4000 Helmet 100% or Scroll of Freezing which may break permanently); 1 Honey Potion/Snowball Slingshot (you have to be lucky with the Slingshot. The Potion has a higher chance).

What your pets need: 130+ HP, 85 Strength, Berserk Attack (acquired at level 50 or above), the Faerie Abilities Burrow (4th Earth Ability level 10) and Sink (8th Dark Abilitylevel 30).

If the Meerca Henchmen defended and used their Hefty Loot Bag, then they would survive your attacks, so you might also want the following: 1 Stone Muffin and 1 Thick Smoke Bomb.

Now, here's what you do! Step 1: Honey Potion/Snowball Slingshot; Freezer; Sink/Burrow. If you have frozen the Henchmen, continue (there will be a piccie of a snowflake underneath them). If they are not frozen and if you don't have Berserk, then they must have less than 165 HP to continue.

Next, Step 2: 2 Icy/Water Muffin; Berserk

Step 3: 2 Icy/Water Muffin, Sink/Burrow (whichever one you didn't use already). If you haven't won, move onto Step 4.

Step 4: Stone Muffin; Thick Smoke Bomb; Berserk.

Now go collect your prize and you will get one of the two Meerca Henchmen avatars (which one is random) and a cool trophy!

Thanks for reading this week's spotlight!

Space Faerie

Jan. 6, 2007

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Today we have a special opponent in the Battledome – the Space Faerie!

The space faerie normally flies around space, defending Neopia with her life against her evil nemesis Dr. Sloth. Occasionally she will give Neopians what is known as "Space Faerie Quests" which, when completed, will give one of your pets FIVE LEVELS! Of course, on average her quests aren't cheap either, but if it hits the right pet, it's right worth it.

The Space Faerie challenger can only be obtained if you have a Rare Item Code (received when you buy a REAL LIFE Neopets product) or you may get this as a Random Event upon completing a Space Faerie Quest, but that chance is pretty rare.

The Space Faerie is Difficulty 450 (very high!) with a starting HP of 550. Her equipments are as follows: Attack Fork – attacks 2 Water, 2 Physical, 1 Dark and defends 1 Fire; Jade Scorchstone – Full heal before damage is done; Stone Hourglass – destroys all your on-hand Stone Snowballs and Supersize Gargantuplex – attacks 3 Physical and defends 2.3 Physical.

She also has her own specialized Battledome Equipment, which are as follows: Exploding Space Bugs – attacks 5 fire and 1-5 Physical; Space Faerie Helmet – attacks 3 fire and 3 light; Space Faerie Sun Wands – attacks 5-10 light and Wand of the Space Faerie – attacks 2 Fire, 2 Light, 2 Dark and 1-2 Physical. She has the ability Aura.

I recommend buying a Shield of Reflection, which reflects 25% of all fire damage and 75% of all light damage. It is once per battle but can also break, but since it is only 5k it doesn't matter very much.

According to one guide they recommend a Turbo Flame Reflector, a Dual Battle Mirror (2k), a Lucky Robots Foot (8k), a H4000 Helmet (6 million) and a Honey Potion (770k). I doubt many of us would be able to afford this Battledome set, but they recommend that you freeze the Space Faerie on the first turn, "bomb" her on the second and keep reflecting and hoping for the best.

I hope you enjoyed this week's spotlight!

UPDATE According to Starried you only require a strength of 121, a defence of 50 and HP of 200 to be able to defeat the Space Faerie. However you will still need the mirror, Honey Potion and H4000 helmet.

Defense Weapons

Dec. 30, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Well last week we saw the Attack items. Today we shall look at the Defense and Healing items. Generally Defense items decrease the number of icons done to your pet – or as the BD terms go – "blocks" the icons. You can see it on your side of the screen during a battle, where icons are circled and crossed out in red.

There are many different amulets available in different prices. Most of them are affordable and can be used to protect against fire, light, dark and earth icons, or give extra hit points, or restore a pet to full health during battle. Some amulets are limited use (which means they can disappear for the battle) and some are one time use (which disappears forever after being used) such as the Amulet of Life.

There are a few types of items that will alter your pets for one move in the Battledome, such as Downsize! and Downsize Power Plus which allows your pet to temporarily shrink to a small size, which will help to avoid an attack, whilst the Supersize Gargantuplex makes your pet grow to 40 times its size to absorb physical attacks.

Some Scorchstones such as the Earthen, Golden and Silver are defense weapons and can fend off air, water and light attacks. They can also be used more than once per battle, but other stones like the Purple and Rainbow, are healing Scorchstones and can be used to restore hit points. The Rainbow will be able to restore your pet eighty hit points! But the healing Scorchstones can only be used once per battle.

Healing items have been spotlighted on in a previous spotlight (check before) and my secretary tells me that he is able to extract a long list of all the defense items available to the general Neopian public.

Sorry it's a bit short this week. Rest be assured that next week's spotlights will be a lot longer and more detailed. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! {Translation: Guaranteed meepness!})

Attack Weapons

Dec. 23, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

This week I decided to go for the more basic and less-detailed highlight on the Battledome and will go over the most popular, often used battle items in the Battledome. There are two main types of weapons: Attack and Defense. Where do the healing weapons go, you may ask? Well I will categorise them into the Defense list, so don't worry; we will get to them soon!

So, this week we will highlight the attack items. Offensive your cup of tea? Like to bash your opponents to smushed pulp? (Secretary: MEEP MEEP. [Translation: Created by Meepits Co.]) Well here's a brief overview of the kinds of ATTACK weapons frequently used in the Battledome.

First off, Snowballs! Snowballs range from wet to tortured to ugly to spiky! Let's get to the BATTLE snowballs. The more common ones range from 1 NP to 5k. They can be a cheap and efficient weapon, but only certain snowballs are actually effective. These include Icy, Stone, Exploding, Sticky and Snow Mudball (which hasn't got Snowball in its name and is also mentioned in our first ever Battledome spotlight and the spotlight earlier on this month).

Next off: Tridents! Spiky-looking and bright, there are several different types of Tridents available, ranging from species only tridents to pricey Tridents such as Trident of Common Power (5 mill on Trading Post when your host wrote this) to the cheap yet effective Attack Fork which costs less than 2k! Tridents can be disabled for the duration of a battle by the (expensive) Bent Fork.

Now, Novas. Star-shaped and shiny, but on the expensive side and some are quite rare, novas can heal you in battles as well as damage your opponents with fire and light icons. Novas and Supernovas can only be used once, but Staff or Wand of Nova and Supernova can create novas every round (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Note! Staffs and Wands can be broken and WILL NOT return!])

Potions. Well of course not ALL potions are attack style. There are lots of different types of potions with lots of different functions, ranging from the Slippery Floor Potion (700 NP) to the famous Honey Potion (800k). Most of them can only be used once so use them wisely!

There are a few items available that fall into the "Freezing Items" category that will freeze your opponent for one round during battle. For example, there are six types of Frost Cannons (Black and Rainbow being the most popular ones), Lupe Wand, Freezing Potion, and the most sought after, the H4k (H4000 Helmet), which will assure 100% freezing of your opponent for one round. Every serious battler should eventually get a 100% freezer so this is highly recommended. However, being priced at 7 million on the trading post and it being retired, it is debatable whether the inflation that will destine this item will soon be taken over by the Freezing Potion, which still restocks and gives an extra 2 water icons. If you do not have the extra neopoints to get a Freezing Potion (approx. just over 7 mill) it is highly recommended that you get the helmet.

Well that's the spotlight for this week! I hope it helped my fellow Neopians. See you next week!

Faerie Abilities (Water)

Dec. 16, 2006

In particular, we are looking in the Water Faerie abilities category today.

As mentioned in the spotlight on Fire Abilities four weeks back, you need Bottled Faeries to bless your pets with in order to receive an ability, in this case, Bottled Water Faeries. Water abilities are one of the more useful abilities out of the six.

You start out with the ability "Heal", requiring a level of 1, and will heal your pet randomly 1-57 HP. Very useful and you can use it continuously.

Followed by Bubble Shield at Level 3, but it does nothing. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP!! [Translation: Well there are always a few ones that does nothing, but looking at all the important ones after it, it's well worth it!])

Then at Level 6 there is Water Jet which does 1 Physical icon. Not very useful, but, hey, look at the ones after it!

Quench (Level 9) Can block each and every one of the fire icons that your opponent fling at you. It disappears after it blocks the icons but will return after the battle.

After it comes Steam Shield, at Level 12, blocking each and every Light icon that your opponent throws. Very useful, especially if you're dealing with, say, someone with a Ring of the Lost, which does 5 Fire icons and 4.5 Light icons. If you use Quench then you'll be able to block over half of the icons, and if you use Steam Shield you can block almost half of them. Very useful indeed.

Next comes Water Breathing, at Level 16, which blocks all Water icons. Again, very very useful against your opponents because most of the time your weapons can't go without a water icon or two at the very least.

After that is Water of Life at level 20, which recovers 24% of your lost HP. Useful, but not as useful as Healing Vapour, which comes next.

Healing Vapour at level 27 heals 33%, or a third, of your lost HP. For example if you have 100 total HP and you are at 25 HP, you will be healed 25 HP. Useful, no?

Last comes Watery Guardian, at level 33. Not really useful as it only inflicts one Physical icon.

Overall the Bottled Water Faerie abilities are very useful. As you can see, most of them are healing abilities, one of the most important aspects in the Battledome. I hope this week's spotlight have enlightened your knowledge regarding the bottledness of the Water Faeries! See you next week!

DoN 1 - Ghost Lupe

Dec. 9, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Once more we look at the crime-crushing Defenders of Series 1. This time we observe battling the Ghost Lupe, who is second in line after the Pant Devil in your streak of Trophy-winning from DoN. Normally the Ghost Lupe would, in random events, growl at you to warn you to stay away from Mystery Island, or to restore all your pets to full hit points. Now why, you ask, would we want to pound such a nice, if not rather transparent (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Haha…not funny:K]) spirit? The answer is, well, he's been harassing the poor characters in the comic, as you will know from Judge Hog, and it's up to YOU to defeat him once and for all!

To obtain the Ghost Lupe as a challenger, you need to go here: http://www.neopets.com/neo home.phtml?type=neighbourhood (remove space), click on "Neopia Central", then "Soup Alley" and in the white box, type in "131" and the challenge event should come up.

Now off we go to the Battledome! For this battle you are recommended the following stats: Hit points 18+; Strength and Defence 16+ and the Water Faerie ability Heal. The weapons recommended are three Sand Snowballs, a Scarab Ring and a Lesser Healing Scroll (or a better healer if you have one).

First use two of your Sand Snowballs and Fierce Attack. Then use Scarab Ring, Lesser Healing Scroll and the Heal ability. If you haven't defeated him yet then use the Last Sand Snowball and an attack of your choice.

Alternatively you may want to have a second Scarab Ring and the Bubble Shield ability. Some others have gotten through this challenge by using two Brown Snowballs, an Ugly Snowball, a Tortured Snowball and an Ice Eye Snowball. (*covers Kimiko's eyes*)

OR another way is that you can use two Sand Snowballs and Fierce attack on the attack, followed by the Astronomy Club, Lesser Healing Scroll with Fierce attack.

The Ghost Lupe has: Dual Battle Mirror (fragile): Reflects 50% Light icons
Forest Sling: Attack 2 Earth and 0-2 Physical
Grand Lightning Beam: Attack 2 Fire, 2 light, 0-2 Physical and Defends 3 Dark
Icy Snowball: Attack 4 Earth, 4 Water and 1-4 Physical
Super Luperus Tooth: Attack 2 Air, 1-2 Physical
Ghost Lupe Plasma Gun: Attack 2 Dark, 2 Water, 0-2 Air
Ghost Lupe Shield: Defend 2 Earth, 2 Light, 2 Water, 2 Physical
Ghost Lupe Sword: Attack 1-2 Physical and Defend 2 Earth and 2 Physical.
Abilities: Aura, Frost, Inertia, Physical Attack and Scorch.

You can also get the Ghost Lupe avatar by defeating him in the Battledome.

By the end of this spotlight you would probably be able to get the new shiny gold trophy! Enjoy the spotlight and we'll see you again next Saturday!

Snowballs

Dec. 3, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

This week we spotlight the December Guild Theme – SNOWBALLS!

Now, snowballs are round, shiny, squishy and wet-looking. They range from wet to tortured to ugly to spiky! There are even some edible ones such as the Olive Snowball or Strawberry Snowball. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: This is a Battledome guide, not a buffet! Get on with it!]) Buuut let's get back to the BATTLE snowballs. They can be a cheap and efficient weapon, but only certain snowballs are actually effective. These include Icy, Stone, Exploding, Sticky and Snow Mudball (which hasn't got Snowball in its name and is also mentioned in our first ever Battledome spotlight). Our resident Faerie Crossword answers host, Kimik000, has a vast amount of snowballs collected over time (for exact statistics please refer to her Bori Mara's petpage), so snowballs aren't ONLY for eating and battling, they are a collectors' favourites too!

The first snowball we will look at is the Wet Snowball. It is possibly the most popular snowball given out by the snow or healing faerie or from random events. Doing a mere 4-6 icons, it costs 5 NP. Not a very good choice.

Next comes the Evil Snowball. Slight better, it does 6-9 icons and costs the same as the Wet Snowball: 5 NP. A better upgrade.

Followed by the Peach Snowball, doing the same amount of damage as the Evil Snowball and costing just the same.

Yellow Snowball? It does [Secretary: MEEP MEEP (Translation: Interruption, but it does the same as the previous two, no more comments needed!)]

Icy Snowball does 8-12 icons and costs about 100NP each. Pretty expensive for a one-use item but good icons. Recommended.

Exploding Snowball does 7-10 icons and costs the same as an Icy Snowball. Not that effective.

Icy Eye Snowball does 10 icons and costs 100NP. Not that good, again.

The Sand Snowball does 9 icons, as far as damage is concerned – 5 fire and 4 earth. Good item – you can get it from a Lost Desert Scratchcard also. It's certainly worth a try.

Snow Mudball, now, that is a good weapon. It does 9.5 to 13.5 icons (4.5 Water and 4.5 earth).

Tortured Snowball does 5 fire and 5 water. Stock up enough of them even though it looks scary!

Sticky Snowball does 4.3 Earth icons, 4.3 Earth and 1-5 Physical icons – a good weapon to have, worth every NP of its price – 250 NP!

Jhudoras Snowball does 4-5 Water and the same of Dark. It's very twirly and shinier than most Snowballs. Cost: 120 NP

Stone Snowballs are more expensive, at just over 1k and does 6.2 to 11.6 icons – quite worth it, but rather pricey.

So that's all for this week, not that much, but then again, Snowballs aren't that great to have in the Battledome (Kimi didn't hear that). Some Snowballs are not mentioned in this spotlight, as, according to my sources, they are not that good in the Battledome. There are a few items that generate snowballs in the Battledome, but that will come in due course, in later, more reliable, Katzie's Battledome Korners!

Healing Items

Nov. 25, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Today we shall talk about one of the MOST important aspects of the Battledome – healing! Now healing has many parts, which includes just plain healing, full healing, drain-life healing and pet-only healing.

Here are the different useful healing items you can get in the whole of Neopia. (Not including the potions such as Lime Elixir which are virtually no use in battle)

Magical Healing Potion – Mentioned in previous spotlights. Heals 15 HP. Once per battle, very cheap and great for starter BD sets. Cost: 6.4k

Red Scorchstone – Heals 20 HP and once per battle. A meepit load more expensive than the Magical Healing Potion – you can decide if the extra 5 HP heal is worth for the extra money. Cost: 87k

Blue Scorchstone – Heals 30 HP, once per battle. Like the Red Scorchstone – you can decide if it's worth it. Cost: 175k

*Kacheek Life Potion – If your HP is above 33% then you will be healed to full, if below, then you'll get 33% heal. Very good healing item for a Kacheek – many people buy Kacheek morphing and transmogrification potions and change their pets to a Kacheek in times of war to use this item. Cost: 125k

*Gelert Healing Remedy – Heals 50% of your maximum hit points. If you have a Gelert then you have an advantage, but consider morphing or transmogrifying your pet to a Gelert so you can use this item. Cost: 40k

*Elephante Unguent – Same as Gelert Healing Remedy, but for Elephantes. Again, species only, good to morph your pet to a Elephante during a war. Cost: 140k

*Squishy Shoyru Healing Stone – Same as above, but very expensive compared to the other 50% healers, only one on Trading Post, unpriced. If you have a Shoyru and don't want to change the species, then this will be a great choice.

*Healing Ankh of the Nimmo - Heals 50% max hit points again, but also very expensive. Only one priced, at 3 mil. If you don't want to change your species however, then this would be an all right choice.

Minor healing scroll - heals up to 5 HP (Secretary: MEEPIT MEEEEEEEP! [Translation: You call that a heal? EWWWWWW]) Cost: 1k

Lesser healing Scroll - heals up to 25 HP. Cost: 3k

Greater Healing Scroll – Once per battle, heals 50 HP, personally I strongly recommend it. Cost: 40k (Secretary: MEEP!!! [Translation: Indeed! Very good item!])

Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic - Defends two dark, fire and water icons. If you have more than 500 intelligence, you'll also heal 75 HP. Once per battle, cost: 900k

Heavy Blue Tunic – For under 1000 intelligence it defends three air, fire and water icons. Over 1000 intelligence it freezes your opponent as well as defend on the first use, and disappears for the duration of the battle. Only one on Trading Post for 10.1 mil.

Crisp Blue Tunic - Defends 2 earth and 2 water and drains 100 HP from your opponent and give it to yourself for a heal, if you have at least 100 HP to heal. Like the Heavy Blue Tunic, you need 750 intelligence for it to work. None on Trading Post.

Bag of Healing Dust – Another 50% healer, once per battle. Great if you can't afford a once per battle full healer yet.

Leaded Elemental Vial – Full Heal, once per battle. Probably the healer that all Battledomers want. Only one priced, for 60 mil.

Jade Scorchstone – Full Heal, once per battle. As it is retired the price will not go down. Trading post: 65 mil.

*Species-only item

Well that is all for this week's Korner, I hope you enjoyed reading it and that your knowledge of healing items have increased!

Faerie Abilities (Fire)

Nov. 17, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

Today we will evaluate one of the most relied-upon things in the Battledome – faerie abilities! In particular, we are looking in the Fire Faerie abilities category.

You get abilities by purchasing a Bottled Faerie (of Water, Earth, Fire, Air, Dark or Light), or through a random event, and clicking "Bless *insert pet name*" in the action box. To be able to receive the ability, the pet needs to be at a required level. All abilities are at different levels so you need to know which abilities are available for each level, or else your faerie shall fly away instead of blessing. Bottled faeries are roughly about 6k NP. You shall have to get all the abilities before your desired ability. For example, if you wished to have the fire ability "Fiery Roar" you shall have to buy two Bottled Fire Faeries, in order to receive the ability "Smoke Screen", which is before "Fiery Roar", as well as "Fiery Roar" itself. Pretty darn pricey overall, but well worth it. You may select an ability by clicking on "Abilities" in Pet Central and activating each ability by clicking it. You are only allowed eight abilities activated at a time. Activated abilities are animated and bright. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP!! [Translation: AND VERY SHINY TOO!])

The first ability a Bottled Fire Faerie can bless you is "Smoke Screen", described as "Escaping from combat is easier if you can hide yourself in a smoke screen". The level required is 1, so any pet can have it. "Smoke Screen" does nothing, however.

The second ability is "Fiery Roar", required level is 3. It is described as "This loud roar is sure to scare away even the most fearsome of enemies", but, again, this ability does nothing.

The third ability is "Fiery Gaze", required level is 6 and does 1 light icon (although does no damage) and may freeze. The ability will disappear from your drop-down box for the duration of the battle if the freezing is successful. Described as "By using the fiery gaze ability your pet can hypnotize weak-minded creatures and force them to do its bidding".

Fireball" is the fourth ability, requiring a level 8. Described as "This powerful ability lets your pet shoot magical fireballs at its enemies" but it does nothing.

War Cry" is next, requiring a level of 12, described as "Rushing into combat with a war cry will make your NeoPet more aggressive" but, again, does nothing.

The sixth ability is "Lava Spit", doing one air icon and one light icon and described as "Your pet gains the ability to spit a bolt of molten hot lava at an enemy" and requires a level of 15.

The seventh ability is "Song of the Volcano", described as "The song of the volcano gives you protection when roaming the hot lands of Neopia" and can do one earth icon and one dark icon, requiring a level of 19.

Boil" is the eighth ability, described as "Invoking the power of flame against water will give you a powerful advantage against water creatures" and requires a level of 24. It protects the user against all water icons but disappears after it blocks the water icons for the duration for the battle.

The last ability, unlisted on neo, is "Meteor Shower". With one source it tells me it requires a level of 30, yet another tells me it requires a level of 33. So I advise you to level up to 33 just in case. It has no description since the level is too high for neopets to host it. It does one fire icon and one physical icon.

I hope the above synopsis of the abilities helped. Enjoy this week's spotlight!

DoN 1 - Pant Devil

Nov. 11, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

This week we shall look at one of Neopia's most trustworthy, reliable and strong neopets fighting the most threatening, dangerous and obscure criminals in existence – the Defenders of Neopia! (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Meepits! Meepits!])

Let me explain the basics of what you do in Defenders of Neopia – commonly referred to as DoN. At the Defenders of Neopia Headquarters (which can be located in the Neopian Plaza) you will be given a briefing by Judge Hog, the superhero entrusting you the safety of the whole of Neopia! Read the short comic and proceed to the Battledome where you will battle many of your future opponents.

The first opponent you'll face in the Battledome in DoN Series 1 is the famous Pant Devil, most famously known for unexpectedly stealing your items during your trek in neopia. Sometimes it may be worthless items such as omelettes and dung, but imagine him paying you a visit when you have a draik egg, or million-NPs-worth items or a Snowickle in your inventory! No wonder Neopians hate the Pant Devil so. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Meepits hate him too!])

As many of the challengers in DoN does, the Pant Devil also needs to challenge you before you can bash him in the Battledome. It is very simple to get his challenge – when he steals one of your items as a Random Event, you will get him. If you don't have him, try visiting the Wheel of Excitement or Misfortune every two hours and hope for him to steal an item. Make sure you fill your inventory with useless junk though.

The Pant Devil is at difficulty 21, with a starting HP of 22, which should be pretty easy for all of you. It is also recommended that you either have the Dark faerie ability Sink (level 30) or the Earth faerie ability Burrow (level 10). You may be better off having Burrow first as your pet only has to be level 10 or over when blessed. It is the fourth earth faerie ability, which means if your pet has no earth faerie abilities whatsoever, you need to buy four Bottled Earth Faeries and bless all of them on the same pet. Burrow and sink blocks 97.5% of all icons inflicted upon you in one round, but it only works once per battle. If you are in a hurry you can just buy a Downsize!. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Better to get the abilitynow, for later use AND have a Downsize!])

Now that you have him as a challenger, to the Battledome! I am recommending these items, which I have mentioned in your recommended starter Battledome set:

Dual scarab ring (simply speaking, two scarab rings) and a Magical Healing Potion. If you have bought a stealer then you will only be able to steal the Level 2 Bubble Beam off the Pant Devil.

You really shouldn't have much trouble with him, the super cheap Scarab Rings should be able to take him out in a turn or two for almost any pet, and the even cheaper Slime Potion should prevent you from losing. Try not to use a lot of dark icons, as his Rod of Supernova can block all of them.

The Pant Devil's equipment:

Attack fork: Attack 2 Water, 2 Physical, 1 Dark. Defend 1 Fire.
Level 2 Bubble Beam: Attack 2 Air, 1-2 Physical
Rainbow Frost Cannon: Attack 4 Water, 17.4% chance of freezing
Rainbow Gun: Attack 1 Light, 1 Physical. Defend 1 Dark.
Rod of Supernova: Attack 1-2 Fire, 2 Light, 1-2 Physical (4-6). Defend: 1-2 Fire, All Dark, Heals 40 HP
Small Metal Shield: Defend: 1 Air, 1 Earth, 1 Fire, 1 Water.
Supersize! Attack 2 Physical. Defend 1 Physical.
Pant Devil Claw: Appears to do nothing.

Good luck fighting the Pant Devil. Enjoy your new silver trophy!

Battledome Starter Basics

Nov. 4, 2006

WELCOME to the weekly Saturday Katzie's Battledome Korner where yours truly and her secretary the Meepit will give you the most spectacular, accurate, interesting Battledome spotlight as possible!

For my first spotlight I shall go through the recommended weapons of a good starter Battledome set. A basic set should consist of at least two multiple use items and one healing item. The items I will highlight now are all below or around 10k, for all you people who are not that good at restocking (like me) and not that good at the Battledome.

I will also mention something called "icons", which is basically how much damage will be done with a particular weapon. This also concerns something called "boosts" which relates with your strength and defense. Boosts are specific numbers at which point you start doing more damage. The boosts start at 8, 13, 20, 35, 55, 85, 125, 200, 250…I don't think many of our guild members have strengths and defenses any higher than that. I certainly don't. The higher your stats the higher the damage however, you only do more damage when you go over a boost. For example, if you have 84 strength you will do exactly as much damage per icon as one with 55 strength. You will be able to do more damage once you get to the 85 boost however. You will be able to do an extra 0.5 damage with a strength of 8. At 13 strength you do 0.75. At 20 strength you do 1. At 35 strength you do 1.25. At 55 strength you do 2. At 85 strength you do 2.5. At 125 strength you do 3. At 200 strength you do 4.5 and at 250 strength you do 5.5. (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: Apologies for confusion, but for the time being, just look for your strength boost and ignore the other ones.])

Here are the recommended starter Battledome set.

Scarab Ring – does 6 attack icons (2 dark, water and physical) and 6 defensive icons (3 physical and fire) too. It is the standard and most common beginner weapon. On my shop wizard the price is around 1k, very cheap yet effective. I myself have one equipped on Amaria. You can also get the Scarab Ring form a Lost Desert Scratchcard.

Mud Mixture – 5.2 attack Earth icons plus a 1-5 HP heal. They are great for low level battlers up to about 30 HP. Once you've got 2 multiple use weapons, maybe a weak healer and freezer, fill up the rest of your Battledome set with these. Can be obtained through Illusen's quest 14. They are VERY cheap, at about 15 NP on shop wizard.

Obsidian Dagger – 5.21 plus 2.79 attack icons or 5.21 to 8. For a starter weapon, it is recommended that you get this or the Scarab Ring. 445 NP on the shop wizard and can also be obtained when you get a Eureka! in the Deserted Tombs. Choose the Scarab Ring should you wish for a little defense, should you wish for a little more attack, the dagger. (Secretary: *waves sword pencil about*)

Leaf Shield – Defends earth, physical and water, all of which are very common. 6k on shop wizard, but the extra price is worth it for the shield. Can also be obtained via Illusen's quest 29.

Downsize! – A good weapon. Defends half the damage done to you per battle. Can only be used once per battle (disappears once used, returns at the end of the battle). Price: 6k

Green Frost Cannon – just over 9% of freezing, or 3-4 attack icons. Disappears for the duration of battle after freezing. 6k. Not really recommended.

Purple Sticky Hand – steals about 53.85% of the time. Cost: 1k. Steals one of your opponent's items for the duration of the battle. Once you stole an item, the hand goes to the opponent to use (for the battle).

Snow Mudball – 9.5-13.5 attack icons. Only one use. Cost: 800 NP. Good for important battles where you don't have a good enough set yet.

Illusen's Earth Potion – 7+2 or 7-9 attack icons. Once per battle. 1k on shop wizard. Can be obtained in Illusen's quest 32. Downfall is earth icons can be easily blocked.

Magical healing Potion – heals 15 HP. Once per battle. 5k. Cheap and efficient.

That is all for this week's Battledome Korner. I hope this helps. I will save this onto my Bori's petpage. More Katzie's Battledome Korner coming up next Saturday! Until then! (Secretary: MEEP MEEP! [Translation: See you soon!])
