About My Art
I use a range of programs, the most common being:
- Adobe Photoshop CS2
- Flash MX 4
- Jasc Animation Shop
- Paint
The tools I use are:
- Tablet (Wacom Intuos 3) for drawings
- Mouse (Razer) for pixel art
How I draw my art:
- I generally start with a rough sketch (on its own layer) using a light blue or red
- I then add a new layer and sketch out features using a darker blue or red
- On another new layer, I use a much darker blue or red and outline both my sketch and the features
- I will then make a final outline layer and using black (or my desired outline colour) line over everything (alternating line thickness)
- Colours are added on a layer UNDER everything. Base colours on their own layer, shadows on their own layer, hilights on their own layer, etc. I also divide the colour layers into sections, eg: fabric, fur, skin, accessories, hair, etc.
Tips and tricks
- Zoom in to draw your outlines, it makes them smoother when you zoom out
- Use as many layers as possible, so if you make a mistake it's easier to fix (especially when colouring!)
- Have fun! Art shouldn't be about who can draw the best picture; it should be used to express and enjoy yourself!
