--Introduction--
The sun is setting over the ocean as you reach the top of the stairs. As you step out onto the wide balcony, you look out over the scenery before you. The white walls and red rooves of Altador are painted with gold and orange light. From here the kingdom seems still, silent, with the only sound coming from the bird songs in the nearby garden district. The placid ocean is on fire with color, its glassy waves punctuated by white ship sails. Seagulls wheel overhead, their bodies faint against the saturated pink clouds.
You can see everything from here. It is wonderfully calm and peaceful. You close your eyes, taking in a deep breath of clean air. Puffs of warm breeze tug at your hair and dance across your cheeks. You smile, at peace.
Ah. I see you've discovered what makes Altador famous.
You jump, startled by the unfamiliar voice, and turn to see who is there. You see a tall, lanky Korbat stands not far from you, his alert green eyes fixed on you with interest. The sun makes his white skin and golden armor glow. He smiles and politely bows his head, letting loose black hair fall into his eyes.
It is an exceptional view. I used to love it when I was a boy.
He waves his hand over the scenery, and you notice that his wing slowly shifts through all the colors of the sunset. You stare, intrigued.
Seeming to understand, the Korbat chuckles and raises his arms to the sky. His wings melt into the background, seeming to disappear.
A neat little trick isn't it? Don't ask me to explain it.
As he adjusts the golden bands on his wrists, he smiles over at you with good will.
You look like you could use someone to show you around. I'm here visiting home for a while. What do you say? Want to see the city?
You shrug and happily accept the offer. He motions for you to go first, then laughs abruptly.
Oh! I almost forgot. You may call me Alehem.

--About Me--
Like all young born in Altador, I was raised to value discipline, determination, and strength. I began training nearly as soon as I was old enough to hold a stick in my hand. My lessons were thorough and steady, my attendance examplary; My father made sure of that. Being that my father was a grand general in the royal army, I sought to emulate him all my life. I graduated at the top of my class, and today I still strive to be the best warrior I can be.
However, my mother made sure that my life was not solely about combat. Being a scholar of high honors in the kingdom, she had access to the royal library and made use of it in tutoring me. She taught me all the theories of the great minds of the past, and brought me to be well versed in all the most prominent subjects. Thanks to her, I know a great deal about many things, but more importantly, I have an avid desire to learn all the things I do not yet know.
For several years now I have been studying in Brightvale under the tutelage of Master Archimeadese Salamín, one of the greatest minds Brightvale has ever seen. I have learned much about the ways of the world since my coming here, but I am still loyal to my beloved homeland and all the treasures it holds. My master will tell you that intellect is far superior to physical strength, but I maintain that it is vital to to achieve balance, honing body and mind equally.

--My History--
My father tells me that the day I was born was an auspicious one. To this day I cannot glean any reasoning for this statement, but I have found no evidence to the contrary, so it is this way that I like to begin my story.
Thusly, on this auspicious day, I was brought into the world. My father had recently been promoted, which had put him in a jollier mood than usual. This was probably best for my poor mother, who must have found it difficult to juggle the demands of loud husband and unborn child both. Most who meet us say we are very alike, my father and I, in the way we carry ourselves and order others around.
So anyway, the day I was born was a cause for celebration in my household, and the way I heard it King Altador himself sent his congratulations to my parents. Whether this was true or not, my parents certainly needed all the blessings they could get. I was a precocious baby and demanding toddler. My father likes to joke that not much has changed.
My father gifted me with a wooden sword on my seventh birthday, and I gleefully took to practice whenever I was not at my mother's book. It is those days that I remember best, dipping and jabbing until I was too dizzy to stand, then being called in by my mother to dinner as the sun faded from the sky. When my father was away, I would explore the rocky coasts of Altador, with its heavy salty breeze, bleach-white buildings and olive trees heavy with ripe fruit.
On weekends, Mother would take me to Market, and I would get to see the splendor of the city. I never grew tired of the bejeweled citizens and vendor carts overflowing with exotic treats. Each time my mother ran into an acquaintance I would sneak away to the fountain, where the water ran thick with suspended flakes of gold.
When I was twelve my father enrolled me in the Altador Academy. He expected great things of me, and I intended to please. I took in everything with an avid interest that my father joked could only be found in my mother's young. It was there that I met a young Kougra with a similar bright wit and quick grin, and he became my closest friend.
As the two of us grew, we dreamed of no greater honor than victory in battle, and both looked ahead to the day when we would venture out to war together. Under the boughs of the oldest olive tree in Altador, we vowed to to be friends through ephemeral life and beyond. We swore that nothing would tear us apart.
But we overlooked one thing, and all too soon, a woman did.
My dear friend did not know the pain he caused me that day, when, bright-eyed, he confessed his love for the girl I had so fervently adored for years. I said nothing, thinking that one broken heart was bad enough, and continued on as best I could. It was when she began to take obvious interest in him, however, that I felt myself drifting away. Our friendship was never the same.
Soon after, we got our wish, as the King called his forces together to defend our beloved homeland from invaders from the north. The two of us rode out to battle together, though I could not offer him the friendship I once could, and I think I knew this. We parted silently. Had I known what would become of that day, I never would have left his side.
News of his death reached me shortly after the battle had ended. Though we had won, with this news it did not feel like a victory for me. I sobbed bitterly for days after, and my heart broke again when I thought of the one who waited his return, her young heart as vulnerable as mine.
Soon after I left Altador. I wanted nothing to do with the celebrations. I could no longer live peacefully under my parents' roof, and I absolutely could not face her. And so, I left the golden banquet halls of Altador and went east, across the scorching desert, through the dreary woods, across endless plains until I came upon the kingdom of Brightvale.
The citizens of Brightvale prized intelligence much the way I did, but their kingdom was nothing like my own. There was nothing there to remind me of what I had left, and so I stayed.
My exemplary performance in the Brightvale University soon caught the attention of the kingdom's Archmage, a Master Archimeadese Salamín. He took me on as his pupil and I idolized the fountains of knowledge he had to share with me. Under his tutelage, the pain and regret of home slowly began to fade away, and I became absorbed in my studies.
Now I have graduated from the University and am no longer Archie's subordinate, though I stay here in Brightvale all the same. There is more to learn here, where all energy is put towards knowledge, and not divided by war. Occasionally I visit Altador to see my dear parents, but it will be a long time before I return, if I ever do.

--Family--
Ale's real family lives back in Altador. He loves and respects his mother and father, but for now he considers those he has met in Brightvale to be his family.
Archimeadese
was the first to get to know Alehem after he moved. His vast knowledge was irresistable for Alehem, and eventually the persistent Korbat convinced the University board members to apprentice him to the kermudgenly Draik. Archie was resistant at first, but he soon recognized Ale's potential and the two are now very close.

The relationship between Alehem and
Dom is undeniably a curious one. The two of them can be quite difficult in their own way, though their eccentric personalities never seem to clash. The two fit well together, and can easily talk for hours about their many shared interests.

Ale is very fond of Dom's young apprentice,
Adantae. He sees himself in the innocent Zafara. Adan loves hearing tales of glory from Ale. There aren't many, seeing as Ale has only seen one war, but even still he is happy to oblige for Adan's sake. The two walk very different paths, but there is no denying that they share a bond.
Ria was introduced to Ale through Dom, and took an immediate liking to him. She says there should be more young men in Brightvale like him, since he is such a fine, handsome young lad. Often she likes to joke, saying she regrets that she were not a few years younger. Ale is delighted by all this, and the two share many a good-hearted conversation when he visits her.
Marcilus is the young son of Archimeadese. Ale often likes to tease Archie about him, because he knows his master has an incredible soft spot for his son. Ale is fond of the boy too, and enjoys spending time with him as a babysitter of sorts. Though he claims to be no good with kids, he is a born natural when it comes to Marc.

--Friends--

Alehem met the beautiful Princess
Anaessa when he volunteered to give her a tour of the Brightvale University. Though cold and distant initially, Anaessa soon warmed to Alehem's persistent charm. Ale has a dedicated and almost frightening interest in the unsuspecting Princess, though what his motives are none are particularly sure.

-Companion-

The fiery griffin often seen by Ale's side is hardly the loyal companion that most petpets are. He is a tempermental creature, quick to judge and slow to trust. However, he and Ale grew up together, and are very rarely seen apart. Although Cicero is not blindly loyal to the Korbat, he gets upset when other Neopets give Ale a hard time, almost as if he feels he is the only one allowed to do so. Cicero is a fierce combatant as well, and on good days he sometimes lets Ale use him as an airborne mount. It is said that the two of them decked out in formal battle gear are quite a site to behold.

--Ale's Stories--
So you want to role play with Ale, huh? Great! But read this first:
If you really want to role play with him, there are a few things to keep in mind. Just because
you know all about his past and such doesn't mean your pet does. Remember, he can be quite difficult, and is often irritatingly persistent. If your pet is the impatient sort, they probably wouldn't like Alehem at all. He was born and raised in nobility and does not know much about poverty, so his ignorance can sometimes be mistaken for entitlement.
Alehem is a very social fellow, and is eager to make new friends since he left all his old ones behind in Altador. He would get along splendidly with anyone who shared an interest in academics or combat, but is willing to meet just about anyone. Be careful though: Ale does not suffer fools.
As far as love goes, Ale is rather picky. He generally decides if he's interested or not upon first meeting. If he treats your Neopet as a friend and nothing more, it is unlikely that that will ever change. However, if he sets his sights on your pet, watch out! He would most likely go to the ends of the earth to win her heart.
