Site name: Rika's Font Making and Rating Guide
Owner/Requester: Rika (beatitude)
Review date: 13/10/10

First impression: I really like your layout; it's simple, but the way the header changes colours, and the adorable little face at the top, are wonderful. I also like the font you used, and it's easy to read and goes well with your layout. 20/20

Layout: Your navigation organisation is fine, but while most of the links start off purple, once I click on them they turn green. I'm not sure if this was deliberate or not, but apart from that, nice job. 19/20

Content: Your guides are extremely useful and informative, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with them, in my opinion. There are a couple of grammatical errors though, like at the introduction, it should be 'This guide includes tutorials' and 'common visitor at the AC boards'. Also, I think you went a bit heavy on the b/i/u...
29/30

Sitely: I'm not a huge fan of any of your buttons, so I'd suggest trying to find high-quality sites with button requests open like Buttonful. Also, you mentioned that not all of the sites mentioned were your affiliates, but I don't think you differentiated between the two, so you could possibly have a seperate section for 'Affiliates' and another for 'Recommended Sites'. Don't accept every site that applies to be an affiliate with you; only accept high-quality ones. I like how you did a small comment after each of the sites, but it's very basic and just lists what the site does. For example, you wrote 'provides criteria and explanations for rates' under this review site, but that's just the basis of what reviewing is all about, and doesn't give the reader any information, as to whether there's anything particularly /special/ about the site. 7/10

Bonus: Your site is the first font guide I've seen a while, and it's top-quality. 1/?

Revisit: I don't currently have an actual font or am looking to make one, but when I do, I would definitely revisit for tips. 19/20

Overall: Rika's Font Guide is pretty new, but I've heard about it a lot, mainly due to your advertising on the AC (well done!). The site is also fantastic, but could do with some touch-ups.

95/100 Congratulations, you may pick up a 90-99 award!

Site name: Typeface
Owner/Requester: Jane (sotheavey)
Review date: 12/10/10

First impression: The custom layout you have is nice, but the buttons at the top, are a bit busy. Try and keep to being entered at three or less SOTM competitions at a time. I'm also not a fan of the body font you used. Yes, it's easy to read, but it's boring, common and your grammatical/spelling errors are far too easy to notice. 15/20

Layout: Your navigation is simple but practical, and the layout itself is lovely. 19/20

Content: First things first, there are quite a number of grammatical/spelling errors. If I were to re-write the introduction on your front page, it would be...
You walk up to the computer and casually type in the word 'typeface'. Out of nowhere your fancy computer transforms into a dusty old typewriter. What in the world? It's typing by itself... "Welcome to Typeface, a new font site brought to you by Jane! Here, we take you back to old fashioned typing.

On your rules page, the pumpkins don't fit in very well, but if you must have them, I'd take the links off and put the credit in your sitely section instead. You also have far too many 'rules', although many of them are guidelines such as 'I don't have a NB pen, so you don't need one either.' Also at the bottom, it says 'PROCCED' instead of 'PROCEED'.
I don't particularly like your fonts, or the fontfaces you use, as they tend to be big and bold. You also use the same fontfaces in most of your fonts, so try varying them. Your rule about not changing the fonts, is impractical to me, as you can't really stop people from doing that, so maybe edit it to 'Don't claim credit for the fonts no matter how much you edit them. The original font was still mine.
There are irregularities in your headers; some of them start with capitals and others are all lower-case, so it'd be best if you decided on one of those options, and stuck to it.
I don't really like your Top Font idea either, but your site names are high quality although there aren't very many of them. You also didn't mention them in your front page, so it'd be best if you did, to draw attention to them as well. 13/30

Sitely: You have quite a lot of high-quality affiliates and listers, which is all very good, but I experienced an issue with your sitely section, when you requested a review. I took a link back button, but the one I wanted, was different to the one in the scroll box, if that makes sense. Make sure you give the right coding for the right link back button. 8/10

Bonus: I love your typewriter-style counter. It's adorable! 1/?

Revisit: I probably wouldn't re-visit your site for the fonts, but possibly might for the site names. 5/20

Overall: Try experimenting with different fontfaces for your fonts, and re-organise the link back buttons of your sitely section. Your site needs some touch-ups with spelling and the like, but it's off to a good start.

60/100 Congratulations, you may pick up a review award!
