Neoitems.net - Item ID Numbers

So what exactly is an item's ID number?

Each and every item released on Neopets has its own unique identification number. This number is used by Neopets to stock shops, award item prizes, and virtually anything else having to do with items. This way, the site can use a handy number, such as '21312', instead of dealing with the item name 'Pea Stuffed Pepper'.

Why does NeoItems need this ID number?

The database at Neoitems.net is ordered by an item's ID number. Since the very first item has ID 1 and the very latest released items are in the 30000s or 40000s, by using the item ID number to order items, it assumes reference to when an item was released in comparison to others. By obtaining the ID number, we can also verify that this item truly exists in Neopia.

How can I figure out an item's ID number?

The ID number can be obtained many ways. Here are the most common:

Your Gallery

Your SDB

Your Shop Stock

Your Closet

A Shop Restock

User's Shop

NC Mall Album
Click each above to learn more. At the moment, you cannot get item ID numbers from the Trading Post or galleries of other people.

What is the easiest way to get an ID number for an item?

At the moment, we think the easiest way is probably to use the Safety Deposit Box method.

In your (own) Gallery

If you have an item in your gallery, you can check the ID number for it searching for the item's entry in the source code. (Reminder: this only works if it is YOUR OWN gallery.)

input type='text' name=remove_qty_arr[23945] value='1' size='3

Note: If you don't mind moving the item temporarily to your SDB, it is a lot easier to get an ID from your SDB than it is to scour through the source code.

1. Right click on the gallery Quick Remove Item page, and view the source code of the page.

2. Press Control and F at the same time to bring up a search box. Type in the name (or a portion of the name) of the item to find where it occurs in the HTML coding.

3. Look for the five digit number in the source that follows the item's description. It should look something like: remove_qty_arr[23945]

In your Safety Deposit Box

If you have an item in your SDB, you can check the ID number for it by looking for the second set of digits in the URL found while mousing over the "Remove 1" link.

javascript:onClick=passPin(90,29428,'','');

1. Put the item in your Safety Deposit Box.

2. Locate the item using either the [1-30] item links at the bottom, or by searching for it.

3. Hover the mouse over the "Rm One" link for that item.

4. Check the URL in the status bar while hovering and disregard the first set of digits. The id number for the item is the second set of digits, after the first comma. See the below example:

In your (own) Shop Stock

If you have an item in your shop stock, you can check the ID number for it by looking for the remove_id digit in the URL (only if a "Remove One" link shows), or use the following method by viewing the source code.

1. Right click and select "View-Source" in your shop stock. You can also find the source by going to the following URL:

view-source:http://www.neopets.com/market.phtml?type=your

2. Press Control and F at the same time to bring up a search box. Type in the name (or a portion of the name) of the item to find where it occurs in the HTML coding.

3. Look for the five digit number in the source that follows the item's description, looking like: back_to_inv[23874]

In Your Closet

You can find ID numbers in your Closet by viewing the source code. Note that you can only get the ID numbers for non paint-brush clothing. (For example, Green Bruce Bowtie or Christmas Kougra Holly Decoration are ineligible because they are clothing items that come from a painted pet.)

1. If a pet is currently wearing the item in question, please use the Customization page to temporarily remove the item so it is not being worn.

2. The item should now be in your Closet. Use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to locate the page that the item appears on.

3. Right click on the page and view the page's source code. Press Control and F at the same time to bring up a search box. Type in the item name and find where it occurs in the source code.

4. The corresponding ID number will appear after the item name and description in the source code. See the screenshot below for more details. The code should appear similar to the following: input type='text' name=39300 value='0' size='3'

http://www.neopets.com/haggle.phtml?obj_info_id=27754&stock_id=2836&g=3

1. Hover the mouse over the image of the item.

In an NC Mall Album

You can find the ID numbers of NC Mall clothing items by viewing the NC Mall Album of someone who has purchased the item. (Note: The album must be set to public in order for you to view it. You can always view your own NC Mall Album of course!)

1. Go to the NC Mall Album of the person who has purchased the item, and right click to view the source code of the page.

2. Press Control and F at the same time to bring up a search box. Type in the name (or a portion of the name) of the item to find where it occurs in the HTML coding.
