Welcome!

Welcome to A Gift For Life, an untaken names site. We offer both untaken petnames and untaken usernames and all are checked every day. My name is Weapon - AGFL exists because I love thinking up millions of names and because some people don't. [C;]

As I check all the names every day (with magic) you are under no obligation to tell me when you use one.

If a name here has been taken for 48+ hours then that will be a mistake, and I'd love to know so I can fix it.

Notices

Koi Day is coming up on the 25th May. This is the only day of the year when you can make a Kiko in Create a Neopet - assuming they are released for creation. They were released the last four years, for certain (read more here). Aside from pondering their history there is no way of knowing for sure whether they will release this year or not. We can only hope. [C=]

Limited Edition Neopets

Limited Edition (abbreviated to LE) is the term applied to species that are not available for creation in Create a Neopet all year round. Instead a number of them may be 'released' for creation on their day, though sometimes they aren't. Whether they will be released or not is never known ahead of time.

Tonu, Chomby, Lutari, Cybunny, Hissi, Koi, Kiko, Poogle and Jetsam are all Limited Edition. Draiks and Krawk are also not available for creation any time but they are generally distinguished with the term Restricted. They are not even released on their days (Draiks were on the day they were first introduced and also accidentally in 2009, but not otherwise) and must be obtained through other means.

The green plus signs link to my blog post on that release, which contains details of timing and length.

Tonu Day (21st Feb)

As well as becoming available on their day, Tonu are also released in smaller numbers most days of the year, at random times. The times may coincide with the Giant Omelette being gone, but this is not certain.

3rd May: (-7 petnames) (+39 petnames) The addings are Fantasy names. [=3] Hissi Day tomorrow~

2nd May: (-12 petnames) Will most likely be adding some more names tomorrow. [=3]

1st May: (-8 petnames) (+96 petnames) The addings are mostly Fantasy names. In the month of April: 758 petnames were taken and 777 petnames were added, while 12 usernames were taken and 3 were added.

30th April: (-9 petnames) There's a recap of Cybunny Day (numbers released and such) over on my blog.

29th April: (-26 petnames) (-1 username) (+6 petnames) The addings are contributions from Anarchyalchemy and Bluushi. [=3] Also - something I didn't have space to mention a couple of days ago - I made three additional linkback buttons using the colours of AGFL's layout.

28th April: (-146 petnames) One of that 146 was the 20,000th used petname. [8D] Wow. How did we get to 20,000?! Insane. And awesome. Thank you. [C:] (Cybunnies may well continue to be available in Create a Pet throughout today, they often do remain the day after. Worth a look if you missed them yesterday.)

27th April: (-10 petnames) (-1 username) It's Cybunny Day! Good luck if you're after one. I'm down on the Help Chat today, bumping the untaken names topic (contains name site lists and info about Cybunny Day). Drop in and say hi? [=3]

26th April: (-8 petnames) Cybunny Day tomorrow~ [=D]

25th April: (-6 petnames) (-1 username) (+67 petnames) The addings are mostly Fantasy again. [C:]

24th April: (-12 petnames) I'll probably be adding some more Fantasy names tomorrow. [=3]

22nd April: (-12 petnames) (-1 username) There's a recap of Lutari Day over on my blog. [=3]

21st April: (-44 petnames) (-1 username) (+87 petnames) The new names are mostly Fantasy. I plan on getting that section back up to 600 before Cybunny Day. [C:]

20th April: (-250 petnames) (-2 usernames) There's a chance the Lutaris will remain available in Create a Neopet for a while today, if you missed yesterday. It's worth looking. [=3] Oh and Tratoonfan2_reborn voted 'Blue' in the Poll.

19th April: (-14 petnames) It's Lutari Day! Good luck if you're after one. I'm down on the Help Chat today, bumping the untaken names topic (contains name site lists and info about Lutari Day). Pop in and say hi? [=3]

18th April: (-8 petnames) (-1 username) Lutari Day tomorrow~ [=D]

17th April: (-8 petnames) (+39 petnames) The new names are mostly Fantasy. [=D]

16th April: (-14 petnames)

15th April: (-15 petnames) (+66 petnames) More new names~ These are both Multilingual RWs (Breton nouns) and Incorrections, plus one English RW. In case you were wondering, I'm trying to get the numbers up in preparation for the upcoming Limited Edition pet days. As well as Lutari Day on the 19th we've got Cybunny Day on the 27th, then Hissi Day on the 4th May and Koi Day on the 25th May. [8D] I'll probably do another batch of Fantasy names before Lutari Day.

14th April: (-19 petnames) (+16 petnames) (+3 usernames) The addings are mostly Indonesian adjectives for the Multilingual section. [=3]

13th April: (-13 petnames) (-1 username) I just noticed a pattern going on. AGFL's 5,000th used petname was taken during Hissi Day 2010 (Hissi Day is 4th May). The 10,000th was taken during Cybunny Day 2011 (27th April). The 15,000th was taken during Cybunny Day 2012. Aaand currently we're at 19,566, so I would not be at all surprised if we hit 20,000 on Cy Day again. We've got Lutari Day first but that's unlikely to eat up 400. It'll probably just give the numbers a boost and then Cy Day can finish them off. There's my prediction. [C;]

12th April: (-11 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+37 petnames) I meant to make a batch of new Incorrections names but as usual it turned into a complete mixture. [=D]

11th April: (-13 petnames)

10th April: (-11 petnames) (+96 petnames) The addings are more Fantasy names. I've decided to split the 'Special' section into two: Cities, Towns and Villages and Species-Specific. [C:]

9th April: (-6 petnames)

8th April: (-15 petnames) (-1 username) (+77 petnames) The new names are all Fantasy. [=3]

7th April: (-11 petnames)

6th April: (-8 petnames)

5th April: (-9 petnames)

4th April: (-9 petnames)

3rd April: (-16 petnames) (+88 petnames) The new names are Fantasy and English RW. And Dravenjade has voted Yellow in the Poll. [C=]

2nd April: (-20 petnames) Goober2petty has voted Yellow in the Poll. [=3]

1st April: (-7 petnames) April is here! In the month of March 414 petnames were taken and 346 were added, while 2 usernames were taken and 39 added.

31st March: (-18 petnames)

30th March: (-17 petnames)

29th March: (-4 petnames) (+17 petnames) I'm feeling improved today. [C:] The new names are mostly Fantasy with one Incorrection.

28th March: (-7 petnames) Bleh I'm a bit ill today. [=(] Sore throat, fuzzy head. So if I don't update tomorrow then it'll be because it's grown worse. [xD] But I don't think that's likely.

27th March: (-5 petnames) Listed at Midnight. [=3]

26th March: (-7 petnames)

25th March: (-11 petnames) (+87 petnames) Today's new names are mostly Fantasy and English RWs. [=3]

24th March: (-22 petnames)

23rd March: (-81 petnames) (+54 petnames) (+9 usernames) Chombies are still available for creation at time of writing and could remain so all day, potentially. It happens. Don't forget there's a whole bunch of Chomb* and Saur* names down in the Special section. [=3]

22nd March: (-14 petnames) Happy Chomby Day! Good luck if you're after one. It looks like they have started releasing them already, which is impressive. Go go go! [=D] Don't forget there's a whole bunch of Chomb* and Saur* names down in the Special section. [=3]

21st March: (-11 petnames) Chomby Day tomorrow! Don't forget there's a whole bunch of Chomb* and Saur* names down in the Special section. [=3]

20th March: (-7 petnames) (+17 petnames) (+30 usernames) Today's new names include Combinations, Incorrections and English RWs for both petnames and usernames. If I didn't already have four side accounts there would be a couple less of those RW usernames - found some that are very to my taste. [C;]

19th March: (-10 petnames)

18th March: (-9 petnames)

17th March: (-14 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+48 petnames) Here are the promised Fantasy names. [=3]

16th March: (-10 petnames) I'm sorry new names have been so thin on the ground lately. You can expect a helping of Fantasy names from me before Chomby Day. [C;]

15th March: (-7 petnames)

14th March: (-8 petnames)

13th March: (-6 petnames)

12th March: (-14 petnames)

11th March: (-7 petnames) (+36 petnames) Today's new names are more Fantasy, plus a couple of Incorrections. [=3]

10th March: (-8 petnames) (+18 petnames) Just a few Fantasy names.

9th March: (-22 petnames)

8th March: (-2 petnames) Wow. Only two?

7th March: (-6 petnames)

6th March: (-11 petnames)

5th March: (-13 petnames)

4th March: (-13 petnames) (+26 petnames) The addings are mostly Fantasy, with some being contributed by Uniquecat. [C=]

3rd March: (-13 petnames)

2nd March: (-10 petnames) (+43 petnames) Whenever I set out to produce names for the Incorrections section I end up having names to add to the Combinations and English Real Words as well. [o.o]

1st March: (-10 petnames) In the month of February: 345 petnames were taken and 486 were added, while 10 usernames were taken and 7 added. [=3]

28th February: (-13 petnames) (-1 username)

27th February: (-13 petnames) (+41 petnames) New names - mostly Fantasy, a couple of Combinations. [C=] And somewhere in those 13 used names was the 19,000th one!

26th February: (-5 petnames) (+3 petnames) Just three English Real Words. [=3]

25th February: (-5 petnames)

24th February: (-13 petnames) AGFL is now listed at The Parisian and Sea. [=3]

23rd February: (-7 petnames)

22nd February: (-20 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+10 petnames) (+1 username) Just a few new names, mostly Incorrections. The Tonus released yesterday, eventually. They might remain available today, if you missed them.

21st February: (-15 petnames) Happy Tonu Day. [C=] I'll be bumping the usual untaken names topic on the Help Chat today.

20th February: (-9 petnames) (+55 petnames) Today's new names are mostly Cornish nouns for the Multilingual section. [=3]

19th February: (-21 petnames) (-1 username)

18th February: (-13 petnames) (+6 petnames) Puny addings, I know. [D;] One Real Word and five Fantasy.

17th February: (-13 petnames)

16th February: (-17 petnames) (-1 username)

15th February: (-13 petnames)

14th February: (-9 petnames) (+44 petnames) (+5 usernames) Today's new names are mostly Incorrections - and they place that section at over 500 names! My New Year's resolution is complete~! [8D] Now the Combinations and the Incorrections both stand at 500+, of equal scope and importance as the other sections.

13th February: (-5 petnames) (+26 petnames) Today's new names are mostly Cities, Towns and Villages for the Special section. We have some from Portugal and some from Romania. [C=]

12th February: (-4 petnames)

11th February: (-30 petnames) (-1 username) That's an unusually large number of takens. [=D]

10th February: (-13 petnames) (-1 username)

9th February: (-5 petnames) (+53 petnames) (+1 username) Today's addings are mostly Incorrections but also English RWs and Fantasy. Half the Fantasy are contributions from Floop695. [C=]

8th February: (-11 petnames) (-1 username) Snowsunshine has voted 'Blue' in the Poll. [=D]

7th February: (-17 petnames)

6th February: (-16 petnames) (+15 petnames) Today's addings are Incorrections and a couple of English RWs. [=3]

5th February: (-16 petnames) (+172 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy names. There's no particular reason I made that many, it just... happened. [o.o]

4th February: (-10 petnames) Might have some new names for you tomorrow. [=D]

3rd February: (-11 petnames) (-1 username)

2nd February: (-11 petnames) (-1 username) (+61 petnames) The addings are a mixture of Fantasy, Combinations, Incorrections and English Real Words. [=3]

1st February: (-7 petnames) (-1 username) At the start of January I resolved to raise both the Combinations and the Incorrections sections to 500 names each, within six months; a bit later I said this task might actually be done by the end of Jan. This has not come to pass. The Combinations have achieved it, but the Incorrections are still a hundred names off. [C:] I feel a little like I've lost my muse for the Incorrections, but I intend to get it back shortly and to keep chipping away at that gap.

In the month of January: 318 petnames were taken and 631 were taken, while 14 usernames were taken and 10 added.

31st January: (-9 petnames)

30th January: (-12 petnames) (+52 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy names. [C=]

29th January: (-12 petnames)

28th January: (-21 petnames) Updating a couple of hours late as I'm still recovering from yesterday's illness, but I'm really feeling much better today. [=D] I hope to have some new names for you within the next few days; I see the Fantasy section has dropped below 500, which is of course a calamity to my mind. [C;]

27th January: Sorry I haven't checked the names today - am ill. I'll probably be feeling better by tomorrow.

26th January: (-11 petnames) (+33 petnames) The addings are Combinations and Incorrections. [=3]

25th January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username)

24th January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username) Back to normal. [=3]

23rd January, 05:50 am NST: (-8 petnames) All names have now been checked. We're up-to-date. [C=]

23rd January, 01:30 am NST: Hey, we're back! [=D] I temporarily took down A Gift For Life (and my other pages) yesterday morning because I was having some issues with the site where I host my images (a personal website, not an image-hosting site). I still am having said issues, but I've now reuploaded my images elsewhere so I can get AGFL and the others back up and running.

I have not yet checked the names since the 21st but I will do so shortly and will update again when I have. Thanks for your patience. [C:]

21st January: (-11 petnames)

20th January: (-6 petnames)

19th January: (-7 petnames) (+48 petnames) Today's addings are some 'Cities, Towns and Villages' for the Special section. I did some villages from the United States this time. [C=]

18th January: (-13 petnames)

17th January: (-8 petnames) (+34 petnames) Today's new names include Incorrections, English Real Words and a single Combination. [=3]

16th January: (-10 petnames) (-1 username)

15th January: (-17 petnames) (-1 username) (+36 petnames) (+2 usernames) The addings are quite a mixture today. [=D]

14th January: (-9 petnames)

13th January: (-17 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+60 petnames) Today's addings include Combinations, Incorrections, English RWs and overall a lot of names ending in '-ling'. [=D]

In the spirit of improvement I've sifted through the Incorrections section and deleted 89 names that I felt were subpar. This number does set me back a bit on getting Inc up to 500 total names, but I think it's worth it. We want 500 quality names, right? [C;]

12th January: (-9 petnames) (-1 username) (+40 petnames) Today's addings are some nice, normal Fantasy names. [=3]

11th January: (-13 petnames) (-1 username)

10th January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username) (+27 petnames) The addings are mostly Combinations. We have now reached 500 names in that category! [=D]

9th January: (-4 petnames) Triciia has voted 'Blue' in the Poll. [=D]

8th January: (-17 petnames) (+147 petnames) (+2 usernames) Didn't realise I had quite so many names to add! This includes Fantasy, Combinations, Incorrections (lots), English RWs and more Cities, Towns and Villages for the Special section.

You know how I said I was going to finish enlargening the Combinations and Incorrections 'by July'? At the rate this is going I'll be finished a lot sooner. Say, by the end of January. [8D]

7th January: (-10 petnames) (-1 username) Will probably be adding some new names in tomorrow's update. [=3]

6th January: (-15 petnames) (-1 username)

5th January: (-12 petnames) (-1 username) (+85 petnames) (+3 usernames) More names~! [8D] Today's include a few Combinations, more Incorrections (I'm branching out a bit - there's a bunch of very short names achieved by replacing Os with zeros), a few English RWs, and a large helping of Cities, Towns and Villages for the Special section (mostly either villages of West Yorkshire, England, or of Andhra Pradesh, India). I forget how unplumbed are the depths of CTVs. I'll try to expand more on that in the future, though maybe after I've finished fulfilling my resolution regarding the Incorrections and Combinations. [C;]

4th January: (-15 petnames) (+69 petnames) (+3 usernames) The addings include Fantasy, Combinations, Incorrections and the occasional English Real Word. [=D]

3rd January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username) I'll be adding some new names in tomorrow's update. [=3]

2nd January: (-13 petnames) AGFL is making a New Year's resolution: To enlarge the Petname Incorrections and Petname Combinations categories to 500 names each, bringing them to an even footing with the other main categories. I have set myself monthly targets; this goal will either be complete by July or by the end of 2013, depending on how I get on. [C;]

1st January 2013: (-7 petnames) Happy New Year! [=D] Stats: In the month of December 326 petnames were used from AGFL and 382 were added, while 10 usernames were used and 68 added.

Contributors

Here are all the wonderful people who have contributed names over the years. This list also includes players of the Name Chain game, now archived.

If you fancied contributing a name or two, then... thank you. [=O] That would be very nice. (Please bear in mind that it is sadly not possible to create a username under six characters long. However, there is no minimum for petnames.)
