-*- 1st Day of Hunting, Y9 -*-

Well, this is my very first time adventuring, so I figured I might as well keep a journal. Pulao told me he used to keep journals back when he was fighting in the Darigan wars. Maybe when I get back, I'll ask if he still has them.
I should probably start from the beginning. Let's see if I can even remember! Chroisa had come home from clothes-shopping in Neopia Central (Yay clothes-shopping! I hope she gets my letter and looks for a nice Cobrall Charmers shirt for my Closet...) and was going to tell Pulao about somebody who was looking for people to join an expedition. Something about a journal and a lost island. But Pulao was getting ready to go down to the local Yooyuball field to train for the Cup coming up next month. He said he needed to have the whole month to train, and that he didn't have any time to go out adventuring. He was kinda upset about it, though, so I asked him if I could go in his place. The Kau Seer from Sakhmet is going on a trip to Shenkuu to study tasseomancy (tea-leaf reading) and isn't going to be holding any classes for the summer, so I don't have anything else to do except stay home and study the crystal ball. I really wanted to get out of the house, so I volunteered to go on this adventure for Pulao so that he could stay home and train. That and I
really want to see Brightvale win this year! So he helped me pack.
Now I'm on a big ship heading out to sea. From what I gathered from Professor Fairweather's talk at the harbor, we're out to look for a hidden island that was mentioned in an old journal he found. A lot of people dropped out of the trip because they think the island is cursed. I dunno about that, but if anything bad is bound to happen to us, hopefully I'll be able to see it beforehand and warn everybody. Besides, Prof. Fairweather seems like a really nice guy, and he's really excited about all this. I'm willing to trust him, since he knows a lot more about this whole thing than any of the rest of us do.
I've never been on a boat before, and for a while I had a hard time keeping my NeoCrackers down. I had to spend a lot of time indoors. I managed to bring a small scrying mirror with me, since the crystal ball is a bit too fragile for traveling. I got some practice in with it, but the most of what I could see had to do with what looked like a little Gnorbu kid cleaning the deck outside. I was still a bit too seasick to go outside and investigate, so I stayed in and took a nap in one of the hammocks. They're getting ready for dinner now, and I think I might feel well enough to eat in a little while. That and my writing hand is getting tired. Usually I have Sylphian take care of all my writing, but she isn't feeling so good either, with all the strong winds outside whipping her around; she's afraid of getting blown away in a storm, so I let her stay inside with me. I'll see if I can bring her back something from dinner.
