Foreword

So you are here looking for that juicy burst of inpiration to kickstart the novel you've always dreamt of writing. Or perhaps you're scouring the caverns of Neopia for that gorgeous word which perfectly describes the wintry solitude your character is facing. Or you might be an enthusiast bursting with ripe ideas begging to be commented on. Maybe you're a tired traveller stoppiing by to soothe eyes sore from bad writing and uninspired ideas. Or maybe you just want those Meepits off your back. Whatever your reason is, we've got stuff to offer for everyone here at Writopia, where your imagination comes calling - a private, literate and friendly family of (aspiring) writers.

Please make sure you read this site completely before you ask anything. After all, a writer never speed-reads.
This guild is still in the making so please be patient. As soon as we get enough members, the portal and activities page(we call them 'The Desk' and 'Inspiration' respectively) will be up and running.

Preface

Writopia was started by Pallavi(eternalchimera) and Abby(amazing_monkey) – two passionate aspiring writers - on 24th June 2011. It's still a baby now but we hope to propel this guild to dizzying summits and have it shape out into a family of word lovers dedicated to the English language and to one another. Details of all fellow Writopians can be found at the 'Characters' page(coming up). Although it's not compulsory, all members are encouraged to convert one petpage into their Journal – this can be used as anything, really – as a portfolio of your writings, as a place to show off the quills you've won, as a scratchpad, as your autobiography, anything at all. But we'd like it if members provide a little info about themselves and their tryst with writing. And of course, some samples definitely help. Your journal can also be used to host the writings you need comments on.

What do we do, anyway?
We write, simply put. We all want our writings to be read and commented on, but most people just don't have that patience. At Writopia we make sure no single member's writing goes unnoticed and uncared for. Every member here counts and so does their individuality and writing style. Critiques are provided on the basis of their age and past experience.
For the old 'uns out there, we've got plenty of challenges(or plans for them, anyway) to sink your teeth into, ranging from Versification to Cliffhangers to Character Crafts. Plus, you get badges for winning them too. Oh the joys.
For those of you struck with the dreaded writers' block, we've got plenty of inspirations to wreak creative chaos in that insipid mind of yours – or just stay around and ramble about your new cat to us, and what do you know, you get an idea!
Lastly, we aren't looking for only the writing elite. Basically anyone with a crafty mind and a flair for language can come. If you can sit around and ponder over the different effects of third person and first person narratives all day, this guild is for you. If you feel like starting a journal of your writings for like-minded Neopians to rave about(or criticize), this guild is for you. If you work with the Meepits, however, get out.

Yes, I know we hate rules, but we have to have them. If we didn't just think what the Meeps would do to our flarb nuggets.

Follow Neopets' ToU at all times.
No more than 3 message in a row. Any more than three is considered a stale pointless annoying message or SPAM.
Each post has to be no less than three sentences.
Remember to be literate. There shall be no i wll c y 2moro. Also, remember grammar and spelling. We're a writing guild after all.
Be active! We know you have real life problems. We all do. How can we balance work/ school with Neopets? While, we still have to go to the therapist every Tuesday, just try to pop in a few times a week. If you will be gone for an amount of time extending 1 and 1/2 weeks please let the council know.

If you decide not to follow the rules we have set in place there will be consequences(hey, every story needs a villain and a sadistic way to kill them). They are as follows –

The first time you will get a warning via Neomail. You will also be stripped of your council position.
The second time rule breakers will go under house arrest. You will be suspended from the guild for 48 hours. Upon your return you will be on academic probation. You may not contribute in any activities for one week.
You're not welcome here if you break a rule a third time. You will be deleted and possibly banned.

Spiced with the rich scent of coffee and cream dawdling around, this snug place has plenty of incentive to make you want to write novels upon novels. It hosts monthly, biweekly and weekly challenges ranging from Character Craft to TaleSpin to Balladry.
