Welcome!

Welcome to A Gift For Life, an untaken names site. We offer both untaken petnames and untaken usernames and all are checked every day. My name is Weapon - AGFL exists because I love thinking up millions of names and because some people don't. [C;]

As I check all the names every day (with magic), you are under no obligation to tell me when you use one.

If a name here has been taken for 48+ hours then that will be a mistake, and I'd love to know so I can fix it.

24th May: (-10 petnames) Koi Day is tomorrow~ [=D]

Notices

Koi Day is coming up on the 25th May. This is the only day of the year when you can make a Koi in Create a Neopet - assuming they are released for creation. They were released the last three years, for certain (read more here). Aside from pondering their history there is no way of knowing for sure whether they will release this year or not. We can only hope. [C=]

The Poll

What colour was the first (or the first you can remember) Neopet you created?

To vote, please neomail me with 'Poll' as the subject. Thanks!

  1. Blue [23]
  2. Red [11]
  3. Green [4]
  4. Yellow [5]
Votes in total: 41

The Name Chain

A Gift For Life is challenging Neopia to make a chain - a chain of original untaken petnames!

Anybody can add a 'link' to the chain (and as many times as they'd like) but the first letter of each name must be the same as the last letter of the name before it (and we'd rather no numbers or underscores).

You're welcome to use any of the Chain's names to create a pet. Taken names will be marked with strikethrough.

The Chain is currently seeking an untaken petname beginning with Z. To submit a name, please neomail me (with 'Name Chain' as the subject).

Chain Length: 98 names | Chain Started: 1st November, '10

Save A Name

This feature allows you to secure up to five petnames or usernames that you plan to use at some point in the future (e.g. to create on a specific pet day, or whenever you like). I will remove your chosen names from this page, thus lowering the chances of them being taken by someone else.

To save a name, please neomail me with 'Save' as the subject.

See the Limited Edition Neopets section for dates and information on that subject.

More Name Sites

  • Gold: Last updated within two months.
  • Silver: Last updated within six months.
  • Bronze: Last updated outside of six months.
  • Black: Last update unknown.

These listings have last been updated as of 21st May, 2012.

I would like to list all sites of untaken petnames, usernames or site names. Please do neomail me to have your site listed here, or to let me know of one. Thanks! [C=]

Limited Edition Neopets

Limited Edition (abbreviated to LE) is the term applied to species that are not available for creation in Create a Neopet all year round. Instead a number of them may be 'released' for creation on their day, though sometimes they aren't. Whether they will be released or not is never known ahead of time.

Tonu, Chomby, Lutari, Cybunny, Hissi, Koi, Kiko, Poogle and Jetsam are all Limited Edition. Draiks and Krawk are also not available for creation any time but they are generally distinguished with the term Restricted. They are not even released on their days (Draiks were on the day they were first introduced and also accidentally in 2009, but not otherwise) and must be obtained through other means.

Tonu Day (21st Feb)

As well as becoming available on their day, Tonu are also released in smaller numbers most days of the year, at random times. The times may coincide with the Giant Omelette being gone, but this is not certain.

News & Updates

Further goings-on may possibly be discovered at my blog. You never know.

24th May: (-10 petnames) Koi Day is tomorrow~ [=D]

23rd May: (-5 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+21 petnames) (+4 usernames) The addings are mostly English Real Words. AGFL is now listed at Delta Directory. Two days to Koi Day~

22nd May: (-11 petnames) (+41 petnames) Fantasy names again again again~ That's the lot of them. Fabia_1995_18 has also voted Blue in the Poll. And, it's only three days to Koi Day. [=3]

21st May: (-7 petnames) (-1 username) (+54 petnames) Fantasy names again again~ And Squirt5dad voted Blue in the Poll. [C:]

20th May: (-14 petnames) (-1 username) (+57 petnames) Fantasy names again~

19th May: (-11 petnames) (+46 petnames) More Fantasy names~ I'm attempting to get the Fantasy total considerably /above/ the usual 500 in preparation for Koi Day. Expect more tomorrow. [=3]

18th May: (-8 petnames) (+72 petnames) Today's addings are Fantasy and include a number of old contributions - that is to stay, contributed names that I put aside for later adding when they were all quite similar. Oh and there's one Combination.

17th May: (-8 petnames) (+56 petnames) The addings are Multilingual Real Words, specifically Old Norse, Martuthunira and Mapudungun.

16th May: (-11 petnames) (-1 username)

15th May: (-7 petnames) (-1 username)

14th May: (-8 petnames) (-3 usernames) (+40 petnames) The addings are mostly Fantasy, but with a few Incorrections. [C=]

13th May: (-11 petnames) Hope you're having a good weekend. [=3]

12th May: (-6 petnames) (+55 petnames) Late update because my internet wasn't working. Anyway, Fantasy addings! [=D] Buuut that section still isn't back up to its usual 500, so you can probably expect more of the same within the next few days.

11th May: (-8 petnames) I shall probably have some new Fantasy names to add tomorrow. [=D]

10th May: (-6 petnames) (+90 petnames) Bit of a mixture, today's addings - including Fantasy, Combinations and English Real Words, plus contributions by Cougcat and Cinfyna. I had fun making those Combinations; it's been a while. I may have overused the suffix -smith though, if that's possible. [;D]

9th May: (-5 petnames) I'll probably be adding some more names in tomorrow's update.

8th May: (-10 petnames) (+92 petnames) Today's addings are all Fantasy names. [=3]

7th May: (-37 petnames) (+27 petnames) (+1 username) The addings are rather a mixture, and include contributions from Cougcat and Guddi6. [=3]

6th May: (-94 petnames) (-3 usernames) (+60 petnames) The addings are a mixture of Multilingual Real Words (Ladino and Novial) and English RWs. They did release more Hissi yesterday, thankfully.

5th May: (-109 petnames) (-2 usernames) They only released 5,000 Hissi yesterday, and that late in the day. Not sure whether they're going to do some more today or not. It's a possibility.

4th May: (-12 petnames) (-1 usernames) It's Hissi Day! [=D] Good luck if you're after one. I'll be on the Help Chat bumping the untaken names topic.

3rd May: (-8 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+52 petnames) Addings = mostly Fantasy, one English RW. Hissi Day tomorrow. [=D]

2nd May: (-5 petnames) (-1 username) (+110 petnames) More Fantasy names, including some contributions by Guddi6. Aaaand it's two days to Hissi Day~

1st May: (-10 petnames) (-1 username) Last month's stats: In the month of April 820 petnames were taken and 670 added, while 24 usernames were taken and 11 added. [=3] And it's three days to Hissi Day, by the way.

30th April: (-8 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+101 petnames) The addings are largely Fantasy. I forgot to mention earlier, but one of the 293 names used over Cybunny Day was AGFL's 15,000th! As for Cybunny Day itself, 26,000 were released, which information has been added to the LE section, and I have written a summary of the day on my blog.

29th April: (-22 petnames)

28th April: (-271 petnames) (-5 usernames)

27th April: (-5 petnames) Happy Cybunny Day! I hope they're going to release - good luck if you're after one. I'll be bumping the untaken names topic on the Help Chat. [C=]

26th April: (-9 petnames) (-1 username) (+41 petnames) (+1 username) Cybunny Day is tomorrow~ The petname addings are Fantasy, the username is a Combination contributed by Starlites. [=3]

25th April: (-7 petnames) Only two days to Cybunny Day~ I should really do some more names today (so they'll be added tomorrow) since the Fantasy section still isn't back up to 500.

24th April: (-5 petnames) (+100 petnames) One hundred Fantasy names~ [8D] (And it's three days to Cybunny Day.)

23rd April: (-11 petnames) (-2 usernames)

22nd April: (-5 petnames) (+49 petnames) (+10 usernames) The addings are all English Real Words but for one of the usernames, which is a Multilingual contribution from Starlites. [=3]

21st April: (-127 petnames) (+67 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy, with some contributions from Starlites. I also have a bunch of new English Real Word names which I'll add this time tomorrow. [=3]

20th April: (-149 petnames) (-1 username) (+123 petnames) So Lutaris released yesterday, as you can probably guess by the takens. They may still be releasing into today - I'm pretty sure another 1,000 appeared after midnight just now. [C=] The addings are a batch of Cybunny-themed names contributed by Rainbow_daydreamer, which have been placed in the Special section in anticipation of Cybunny Day.

19th April: (-17 petnames) (-1 username) Happy Lutari Day! [=3] Here's hoping they release. I'll be down on the Help Chat, bumping the untaken names topic.

18th April: (-5 petnames) Dandancancan had added 'Lourez' to the Name Chain and it's Lutari Day tomorrow! [=D]

17th April: (-12 petnames) (+50 petnames) The addings are Fantasy names and include some contributions by Starlites. [C=] Two days to Lutari Day~

16th April: (-7 petnames) Only three days to Lutari Day~ [=D]

15th April: (-10 petnames) (-1 username)

14th April: (-10 petnames) (-2 usernames)

13th April: (-13 petnames) (-1 username) It's Friday the Thirteenth today. Good luck be with you. [C;]

12th April: (-13 petnames) (+43 petnames) Fantasy addings. And, as you can see by the new Notice, Lutari Day is on the horizon. Incidentally, Cybunny Day is eight days after Lutari Day and Hissi Day is seven days after that. This is what I think of as the busy season for the name-making industry. [C;]

11th April: (-13 petnames) Now listed at The Secret Library. [C=]

10th April: (-18 petnames) (-1 username) I edited the More Name Sites section again yesterday, simplifying the updates system a bit. Also, AGFL is now listed at Serendipity.

9th April: (-13 petnames) (-1 username)

8th April: (-6 petnames) (-1 username) (+61 petnames) Sixty-one Fantasy names for you~ [C=]

7th April: (-15 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+22 petnames) (+2 usernames) The addings are English Real Words. [=3]

6th April: (-11 petnames)

5th April: (-13 petnames)

4th April: (-11 petnames) (-1 username)

3rd April: (-11 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+35 petnames) That's 35 new Fantasy names~

2nd April: (-9 petnames) (-3 usernames) Hope you all survived April Fools Day okay? =3

1st April: (-10 petnames) (-2 usernames) In the month of March: 438 petnames were taken and 558 added, while 14 usernames were taken and 12 added. A large chunk of those petname addings were the Saur* and Chomb* names I added to the Special section. [=O]

31st March: (-7 petnames) (-1 username)

30th March: (-7 petnames) (+57 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy today, as promised. [C=]

29th March: (-10 petnames) I'll be adding some Fantasy names in tomorrow's update. I have some already and plan to expand on them today. [=3]

28th March: (-4 petnames)

27th March: (-4 petnames)

26th March: (-10 petnames) Devil_chick94 has added 'Alayal' to the Name Chain. [=3]

25th March: (-11 petnames) So, stats for Chomby Day: 26,000 were released, their availability lasted two days (though, testing our patience, they only started releasing at 10:00 am NST on the first). About 9,000 were created the first day and almost 3,000 the second, before their availability cut off. The Limited Edition Pets section has been updated. [=3]

24th March: (-35 petnames) (+66 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy. [C=] And the Chombies are no longer available for creation. I'll post the stats tomorrow.

23rd March: (-137 petnames) (-3 usernames) The Chomby availability appears to be continuing into today, or at least it has so far (about an hour into the 23rd).

22nd March: (-19 petnames) Happy Chomby Day! Here's hoping they release, and good luck if you're trying to catch one. [C=] Don't forget that a number of Chomb* and Saur* petnames can be found in the Special section.

21st March: (-12 petnames) (+14 petnames) The addings are just a few English Real Words. Also, AGFL is now listed at Graylist. [=3]

20th March: (-5 petnames) (-1 username) (+70 petnames) (+2 usernames) I hope all these Romanian nouns haven't completely flooded the Multilingual section. There were so very many good ones, I couldn't possibly pass any up. [8D]

19th March: (-6 petnames) I may have some Romanian real words to add tomorrow. I did some yesterday, but I plan on expanding upon my efforts today. [=3]

18th March: (-3 petnames) (-1 username)

17th March: (-7 petnames) (+47 petnames) (+10 usernames) The addings are mostly Fantasy, with a few English Real Words. [=3]

16th March: (-9 petnames) (-2 usernames) I shall have some names to add for tomorrow's update. [C:]

15th March: (-7 petnames) (-1 username) New section: Limited Edition Neopets, under Extras, is sort of a mini guide to what LEs are. It also tracks the last few years of LE pet days, recording whether or not a pet was released on its day and sometimes how many were released (something I've been keeping tabs on for a while now). [=3]

14th March: (-9 petnames) (+193 petnames) The addings are the Chomb* and Saur* names placed under Special, as mentioned in the new 'Notices' just below Today's News. [=D] These new names were all contributed by Rainbow_daydreamer. Kittieswhispers has voted Red in the Poll.

13th March: (-13 petnames) (+34 petnames) The addings are Fantasy~

12th March: (-8 petnames) Since Neopets' clock jumped forward an hour for DST yesterday my updates will appear to be about an hour later than usual until the 25th, when the clocks where I live (the UK) will go forward as well.

11th March: (-8 petnames)

10th March: (-7 petnames) I'm currently running a survey to collect information about NeoTitles and account age. Read more here. If you have a couple of minutes to help then that would be awesome, thanks! [C=]

9th March: (-10 petnames) (-1 username) (+46 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy. I'm currently running a survey to collect information about NeoTitles and account age. Read more here. If you have a couple of minutes to help then that would be awesome, thanks! [C=]

8th March: (-13 petnames) I'm currently running a survey to collect information about NeoTitles and account age. Read more here. If you have a couple of minutes to help, then thanks! [C=]

7th March: (-11 petnames)

6th March: (-6 petnames) (+31 petnames) The addings today are a mixture of Fantasy and Combinations. [=3]

5th March: (-13 petnames)

4th March: (-12 petnames)

3rd March: (-10 petnames)

2nd March: (-15 petnames) (-2 usernames)

1st March: (-13 petnames) Thirteen Leap Neopets, destined for one birthday every four years... [;D] Hello, March! So, in the month of February: 383 petnames were used from AGFL and 365 petnames were added, while 17 usernames were used and 5 added. [=3]

29th February: (-6 petnames) (-1 username) (+47 petnames) Today's addings are all Fantasy. [=3]

28th February: (-5 petnames) (-1 username) (+22 petnames) (+2 usernames) The addings are all Multilingual Real Words - Faroese adjectives to be exact. [=3]

27th February: (-14 petnames) (-2 usernames) Hey, the fourteen-thousandth used petname was among those fourteen takens today. [C:]

26th February: (-10 petnames) (-2 usernames)

25th February: (-13 petnames) (+64 petnames) The addings are all Fantasy. [=)]

24th February: (-7 petnames) So, 36,000 Tonu were released in batches throughout the 21st. They remained available for most/all of the next day. When their availability ended only about 6,000 Tonu had been created. Not many, is it? AGFL's names went down by 79 during the two days.

23rd February: (-26 petnames) (-1 username) The Tonu are no longer available for creation. While I was bumping the untaken names topic on the Help Chat (for Tonu Day) I was also asking for votes in AGFL's current poll. The 22 votes this gathered have now been added to the results. Also, AGFL is now listed at The Shelf, Silver Directory and Wishing Well. I'll post some stats on Tonu Day tomorrow.

22nd February: (-53 petnames) (-1 username) The Tonu did release yesterday, happily. [=3]

21st February: (-19 petnames) (--40 petnames*) It's Tonu Day today! [=D] They actually weren't released last year, to my knowledge, so they may or may not release today (I don't have records further back). I'm tempted to make the usual untaken names topic on the Help Board even if they don't; it's been so long since the last LE day anyway, heh. (*I accidentally removed some names that are actually still untaken; this is me adding them back in.)

20th February: (-25 petnames) (+27 petnames) One day to Tonu Day. [=D] Today's addings are Fantasy and include some contributions from Chloe9722. Also, AGFL is now listed at Masked.

19th February: (-14 petnames) Two days to Tonu Day, the first Limited Edition pet day of the year. [=D] Also, AGFL is now affiliated with Atmosphere.

18th February: (-12 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+40 petnames) (+2 usernames) The addings are all English Real Words. [n.n] It usually gets tedious when I try to gather a large number of ERW names, but I struck upon the idea of listening to an audiobook at the same time and that worked nicely. By the way, it is three days until Tonu Day, the first Limited Edition pet day of the year. [=D]

17th February: (-9 petnames) I shall have some names to add in tomorrow's update. [=3]

16th February: (-11 petnames) (+1 petname) I can't remember the last time I added only one name, but this is a contribution from Avawang731. [C:]

15th February: (-11 petnames) (+36 petnames) (+1 username) The addings are mostly English Real Words, with one Multilingual. [=3] I've swept AGFL's listers and affiliates today. I'm now being more strict about how up-to-date the directories have to be to remain in my lister list; I used to leave them there so long as my site was still listed and their site still functioned layout-wise, but I've decided to just remove everything that hasn't been updated in months. This will make it far easier to synchronise the lister lists throughout my five sites and make sure I've got all the current directories covered. Also, I haven't checked on the Recommended yet but I will do that soon.

14th February: (-14 petnames) (+33 petnames) The addings are for the Fantasy section. Hope you all have a good today. [C=]

13th February: (-20 petnames) (-1 username) Avawang731 has added 'Enisoa' to the Name Chain. [=3]

12th February: (-13 petnames)

11th February: (-11 petnames)

10th February: (-14 petnames) (+14 petnames) These 14 addings (Fantasy) are all contributions from Keshala. [=3]

9th February: (-11 petnames)

8th February: (-11 petnames) (-2 usernames)

7th February: (-10 petnames) (-1 username) Skyed_angel has added 'Shiverie' to the Name Chain. [=3]

6th February: (-4 petnames) (+81 petnames) Mostly Fantasy in the addings today, along with some English Real Word contributions from Neogirlwholovesitall. [=)]

5th February: (-16 petnames) Neogirlwholovesitall has added 'Eisegesis' (n. a faulty interpretation of a text caused by reading in one's own ideas) to the Name Chain. [=3]

4th February: (-13 petnames) Hope you have a good weekend. [=3]

3rd February: (-19 petnames) (-3 usernames) Sorry about yesterday. My internet connection's back on form today, thankfully. [C=]

2nd February: (+19 petnames) Today's addings (Fantasy and English Real Words) include some great contributions from _Mandynha_dumaw_. I'm afraid I haven't checked the names today because for some reason my internet is running extreeemely slooowly and so it was taking a ridiculously long time. I'm hoping it'll be better by tomorrow, or perhaps even later today.

1st February: (-7 petnames) (+35 petnames) Today's Fantasy addings include some lovely contributions from Rukia_kun16. [=3] Monthly stats: In the month of January 342 petnames were taken and 350 added, while 35 usernames were taken and 15 added.

31st January: (-9 petnames) (-1 username)

30th January: (-12 petnames) (-1 username) (+24 petnames) The addings are Fantasy. [=)]

29th January: (-19 petnames) Probably going to make some new names today, for adding in tomorrow's update. [=)]

28th January: (-15 petnames) (+20 petnames) (+3 usernames) Mostly English Real Words in the addings, with one for the Incorrections. [C=]

27th January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username)

26th January: (-6 petnames) (-1 username) Bluerose711 has added 'Khere' to the Name Chain. [=3]

25th January: (-10 petnames) Anyone in the mood to help the Name Chain on its way to one hundred names? [=3]

24th January: (-16 petnames)

23rd January: (-12 petnames) (-2 usernames)

22nd January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username) (+40 petnames) The addings include both Fantasy (contributed by Rainbow_daydreamer and Ebaker922) and some 'Cities, Towns and Villages' for the Special section (I've discovered that, actually, that subject is far from exhausted).

21st January: (-11 petnames)

20th January: (-4 petnames)

19th January: (-4 petnames)

18th January: (-10 petnames) (-1 username)

17th January: (-11 petnames) (-2 usernames) (+76 petnames) (+11 usernames) More Fantasy in the addings, the petnames and usernames both. The petnames include a whole bunch of contributions from Rainbow_daydreamer. [C=]

16th January: (-18 petnames) (-4 usernames) The update is a little later than usual because Neopets was down for their scheduled maintenance. [=3]

15th January: (-12 petnames) (-1 username)

14th January: (-9 petnames) (-3 usernames) (+80 petnames) All the addings are Fantasy. I made a big effort yesterday since that category had sunk a little lower than usual. [=)]

13th January: (-12 petnames)

12th January: (-3 petnames) (-1 username)

11th January: (-8 petnames) (-1 username)

10th January: (-9 petnames) (-1 username) (+20 petnames) (+1 username) The addings are mostly English Real Words, but for one Fantasy in the petnames. [=3]

9th January: (-9 petnames) (-4 usernames)

8th January: (-14 petnames) (-1 username)

7th January: (-15 petnames)

6th January: (-11 petnames) (+40 petnames) All Fantasy in the addings. [=3]

5th January: (-17 petnames)

4th January: (-20 petnames) (-2 usernames) That's quite a few takens. [=O]

3rd January: (-11 petnames) (-5 usernames) (+15 petnames) Sorry the addings aren't very many - I shall try to do more soon. One English RW and fourteen Fantasy, four of which were contributed by Skyed_angel. [=3]

2nd January: (-12 petnames) (-2 usernames) Will be adding a few names in tomorrow's update. [=3]

1st January, 2012: (-14 petnames) (-3 usernames) Happy New Year, everyone! Have a good one. [=D] Annarogerson2 has voted Blue in the Poll. During the month of December 317 petnames were taken and 382 added, while 25 usernames were taken and 44 added.

26th December: (-7 petnames) (-2 usernames)

25th December: (-11 petnames) (+140 petnames) (+16 usernames) Happy Day of Giving! I figured the best 'gift' I could offer would be a giant addition of new names, so here we go. [^-^] The Petname addings include Fantasy, Combinations, Incorrections, Multilingual Real Words (Catalan and Albanian) and English Real Words. The Usernames include Combinations, Multilingual RW (Catalan) and English RW. You can of course peruse all of these in detail in the Newest Names section. [C=] I hope you have an exceptional day/holiday.

24th December: (-12 petnames) I'll be adding a bunch of names in tomorrow's update. [=3]

23rd December: (-10 petnames)

19th December: (-14 petnames)

18th December: (-12 petnames) (-1 username)

I am honoured every time someone offers me a name or two for inclusion. It's really lovely. [^__^]

Things I ask people to remember (I have to remember them, too!):

  1. It is sadly not possible to create a username under six characters long (but this does not apply to petnames).
  2. If you find, for example, a name that is two words in another language combined then it may be a great name but I won't know which category to put it in (Multilingual? Combinations?). I prefer to keep things more clear cut.

(Contributions with an asterisk [*] were originally contributed to Niarulz's untaken names site, Synoname, the whole of which, when it closed, was given to A Gift For Life.)
