FerrariHorse360's Altador Plot Guide: Steps 1-19

Due to space constrains, I've had to split my guide up among all four petpages. You're currently on my Draik's petpage, containing steps 1-19. If you're looking for steps 20-35, please click here. To see Steps 36-45, click If you're looking for steps 20-35, please click here. If you want to go to the newest plot steps, you can click here.

Getting Started: Questions and Answers

Plot Explinations:

The plot thus far, takes place in the new land of Altador. Altador is also accessable through Faerieland (the link is on the tower in Faerie City- it's that circular lavender portal). TNT did mention this plot would be small in the March 16th Neopian Times Editorial Section, though we have no idea what "small" is. Could it be small meaning "smaller then the complex LDP plot"? Or "small and just for fun"? Time will tell.

Guide Set-up:

Hopefully, you'll find this to be one of the most user friendly guides in Neopia. To best view this guide, I suggest maximizing the window that it's in (otherwise, some of the text may spill out over onto the background images to the left of the page). If you resize your window, you'll find a setup that works for your screen. Remember, this page only contains earlier steps in the plot. If you want to see the newer steps, you'll have to go here.

Table of Contents:

Steps to The Altador Plot

Your first order of business will be to head to the Altadorian Archives. You can also get to it from the main Altador map (this old screenshot was before Altadorian Archive and Hall of Hero labels were posted). Once you get to the Altador Archives, here's what you'll see:

If you want to, you can take a look on the bulliten board on the wall in front of you- while it really doesn't do much yet, you'll see some interesting information on upcoming clubs that are based around things like Engineering, Gardening, and the Astronomy Club! Later on, you'll only be able to join the Astronomy Club. Later on, you'll be joining the Astronomy Club (it's the only club that has been, and will be, accepting members). But that's later on- for right now, you'll want to visit Finneus the Lenny. You can see him looking at you through those open doors to the right. When you click on those doors, here's what you'll see:

Turns out that this is Finneus, the head Altadorian Archivist. And seems he's not to pleased that you don't really have a reason to visit him. However, you'll want to make note of that rather large book that's under the shortest table leg in his office- that's important and it'll be clickable soon. No, it's not clickable yet (providing this is your first big visit to Altador- it may be clickable already if you've visited other places).

Now, you're going to want to head over to The Hall of Heros, where you'll discover twelve clickable statues in a dimmly lit room. This is what it looks like:

And who might that strange figure over the in upper righthand corner of the room be? Click and discover, young grasshopper!

By golly, it's our favorite foreman from the Lost Desert Plot! Seem's he's turned his cudgel in for a mop and bucket now, but he's still got that look in his eyes! Next to him, you'll notice an odd button. Click it.

The janitor was right. It doesn't do anything. Yet. When you continue however...

Uh oh! Looks like the janitor is mad that you didn't listen to him! But he's harmless. Seriously, he is. Simply back away slowly.

Your next step is to go back to the Altadorian Archives, and talk to Finneus again. Here's what he'll say to you:

Oh, so now he's going to be nice to you and let you take a look around? How thoughtful. The book you're looking for is the one I've mentioned near the beginning of this guide- it's the book that's being used to prop the table up. Go ahead and click on it.

Rats, Finneus won't let you have the book! He's willing to give you the book though, if you can find something to replace it with. Something that's flat, and exactly three inches high.

Your next stop is to the Perfectly Flat Rock Quarry. This place isn't offically marked on the Altador map, but I've marked it for you. Just click on the tree with the pink dot. I've also marked the Hall of Heros for you as well, just in case you want to get to it directly from the main Altador map.

Once you're in the quarry, you'll see two Jubjub workers arguing. You're here to find a perfectly flat rock to support the table in Finneus' study, not to listen to arguments though. Click around in the area I've marked with another pink rectangle in order to find the rock you need. Remember, just wait for your mouse to turn into the pointing finger- that means there's a clickable section.

Once you find the right place to click, you'll be rewared with the rock you're lookin' for.

Return to Finneus in the Altadorian Archives yet again, and click on the book under the table leg once more.

And once you've finished replacing the book with the perfectly flat rock...

All right, now you can take a look at the Book of Ages that you've just rescued from under a table leg! The book is now located near the upper righthand portion of the room, sitting on that little stand. If for some reason you can't find it, locate the the little green plant sitting in a brown, red, and blue pot on the right side of the screen. It's partially cut off as the picture ends, but the stand with the book is right next to it (to the left of it). It's a rather odd book though, seems it's totally blank except for the prologue! Click on the book in order to read the prologue.

You'll start out by seeing this sun image, also known as the Altadorian Crest (thanks mischa_rox for brining it to my attention)! If you click near the top corners of the book (where the pages are slightly folded over) you can see either the cover of the book, or start reading the numbered pages of the prolouge. So far the only thing you can see are the sun image, and then two pages of writing in the book. There are a total of 53 pages (before the little folded corner of the book disappears, meaning no more pages to turn to), but the rest of these pages are blank at the moment.

At this point, you need to return to The Hall of Heros. Go around the circle of statues (it doesn't matter where you start), and click on each statue. Behind one of the statues (so far, they seem to be random), you'll find a jar of oil and a rag. Click on the button that says "Take the Oil".

Once you take the oil to continue, you'll see the normal image of whatever statue you happened to click on. It may or may not be important, but it couldn't hurt to note which statue had the oil. Once back into the Hall of Heros where you can see all twelve statues again, click on the janator in the upper righthand corner of the room. Seems he's got an idea for you:

Follow his suggestion, and then push the button...

Woah, the room is filled with light! But the janitor isn't too happy about that...

Oh well, you can't make everyone happy all the time. The Janitor will get over it. We hope. But look at the Hall of Heros now! With the light flowing into the room, it looks...well... brighter!

After the hall is lit up, go visit Finneus once more. He's got a suggestion for you:

Return to the Hall of Heros again. Click on the statue of your choice, and view the statue's image. If you click right where the top of the picture ends, you'll notice a hidden link! It's a bit tough to find at first, so make sure to move the pointer slowly so you don't miss it. When you click on it, you'll be given one of 12 images. Here's the image you get from King Altador:

While each statue has a different configuration of these blue gems set in stone, everything else is the same. So if you click on King Altador's statue, and find the hidden link, you'll see the same picture I've got posted here.

After you've done this, you can return to the main Hall of Heros area (the one with all twelve statues and the janitor). If you look to the left side of the screen, in the middle, you'll see a small staircase. It's almost hidden by the pillers, so look carefully! This leads you to a new portion of the Hall of Heros, which we're calling the Observatory. Whee!

You're going to need to return to the Altadorian Archives for this next step. Take a look at that bulletin board right in the center of your screen. On the original image of the Altadorian Archives I have posted, you'll still see five papers hanging, but the original paper with the picture of the basket has been replaced with a picture of a telescope. It's located in the center of the board (there will be two other peices of paper off to each side, but these clubs still aren't accepting members). And no, these other clubs won't ever be accepting members, at least not during the plot. Go ahead and click on that peice of paper with the telescope on it. When you do, here's what you'll see:

Go ahead and join the club from here. When you do, this is what you'll see next:

Wow, and you even get a gift for joining! How very thoughtful! What's the gift, you may ask? Take a look...

You'll see your telescope on the same page as the Astronomy Club welcoming you. I just couldn't get the entire thing in a decent screen shot, so I had to break it up into two seperate images. And no, the telescope won't appear as an item in your inventory. I checked already.

If you feel like it, you can return to Finneus in the Altador Archives and see what he has to say about joining this nifty new club:

No Finneus, this is as exciting as it gets! No, really!

Return to the Hall of Heros next. If you want to, click on the Janitor. He knows you've joind the Astronomy Club too:

Too bad he can't join you, but he's got floors to mop! After all, the light is bright in the room, and we don't want a dirty floor, do we? Go up the steps to the Observetory again. You'll find that the telescope holding device is clickable. It's that blue and yellow thing sitting on those 3 large red legs. Click on it, and you'll see the following (note- it might take a minute or two to load):

You'll see a cut off fountain pen over in the corner of my picture. That's the pointer you're going to use to map constellations. Hover over the red button in the upper lefthand corner, then move your mouse over to the parchment that appears. There are four things to choose from:

  • Add Star: Highlights up to 6 stars (one at a time).
  • Connect Stars: Allows you to make lines connecting stars.
  • Delete Stars: Deletes a selected star.
  • Delete All: Deletes all selected stars and drawn lines.

The stars themselves are multi colored dots, some larger then others. If you hold your fountain pen over a dot, you'll get its coordinates.

You're going to want to head into the main map of Altador at this point. There's a hidden, clickable section which will lead you to The Restive Tomb. I've marked it on the map for you:

Apparently, some users have had trouble using certain browsers to view this Tomb. From all accounts though, Mozilla (Firefox) appears to have no problems at all. If you're not able to click on the tomb with your current browser, try using a different one.

Once you're able to click on the tomb, you'll see the following image:

See those dots on the door of the tomb? Click on them. You MUST complete this step (and see the following image) if you want to be able to locate the constellation in later steps:

That, everyone, is the constellation you're going to be looking for. It's called The Sleeper (and yes, it corresponds to the Dark Faerie Statue in the Hall of Heros). Shall we continue?

Next, you need to go visit Finneus the Lenny in the Altadorian Archives again. Remember, you MUST visit him at this point, otherwise the constellation won't be activated. Here's what you'll see:

At this point, your constellation WILL be activated. The constellation is that of the Dark Faerie (also sometimes simply referred to as The Sleeper). Remember, this is a good time to make a new starmap. Because you've activated the constellation, any old starmaps will be useless at this point. Ready to look for The Sleeper? Here we go!

Now you're ready to look for you constellation. Head back to the Hall of Heros, and take the steps to the lefthand side of the screen up to the Observetory. Go ahead and activate your telescope again by clicking on the telescope stand, and let the images load.

Before you start looking around, it's a good idea to get accustomed to the tools you'll be using to map your constellations. Here's a quick discription of all of them: (Not all tools will be used for all constellations, but you'll most likely be using all of them at some point.)

Now that you know what tools you have to work with, you're ready to search for your first constellation. If you need a guide on how to connect the the stars properly, here you go:

You need to connect stars 1, 2, and 3 together in one line, and stars 4, 5 and 6 in another line. When you do, you can submit your answer (a "Submit" button will appear whenever you have 6 stars highlighted). If you've done it right, you'll be told you've found a new constellation!

Woohoo! You've found the one active constellation! Go ahead and click continue, and this is what you'll see:

The constellation will stay marked for you, and the eyes of the Dark Faerie will stare at you from now until the end of the plot (or perhaps even longer)! At this point, a few more plot tidbits have been unlocked, so go ahead and head back to the Hall of Heros. It's time to discover something fun!

Remember that theory about the connection between the blue gems (from the hidden links above each of the statues) and the constellations? It was right! Click on the Dark Faerie Statue, and then the hidden link right where the top of the image hits the white part of the rest of the screen. The gems have changed:

See that? Not only is there pretty sparkliness for you to stare at, but you can see the constellation is now clearly marked! It's a safe bet that the other constellations will be completed in a process similar to this. Whenever they're activated, that is.

If you feel like it, click on the Janitor again, and see what he has to say now...

Yeesh, there's no pleasing some people! Err, Yurbles! Mosey away from him quickly (no need to anger him more) and return to the Altadorian Archives. Once you're there, click on the paper with the telescope on it, located on the bulliten board (this is your way back into the Astronomy Club). See what the club says, now that you've found a nifty constellation!

Let's hope they're right! After all, if everything goes the way it has been, we're going to have 11 more constellations to find!

But WAIT, there's MORE! You're not done yet! Go visit Finneus while you're in the Altadorian Archives. There's an even bigger surprise waiting for you there...

It's true, there are even more pages in the Book for you to read! Pages 4-7 are now activated, and hold the story of the Dark Faerie's connection to King Altador. Read and be amazed!

You're now ready to find your second constellation. You're going to have to activate it (just like you did for the first constellation), so make sure you follow these steps carefully!

You'll need to head to the main Altadorian Map, and click on the section in the clouds I've marked for you:

When you do, you'll see a bird's eye view of Altador from the clouds! I've marked the various places you can click from this point:

YOU MUST GET THE FOLLOWING IMAGE if you want your constellation activated (clicking on one of the place I've marked above will get you this image):

Now that you've delt with the clouds, you MUST go visit Finneus in the Altadorian Archives once again. Remember, if you don't, your constellation WILL NOT BE ACTIVE. Here's what he'll say to you:

At this point, you're ready to find the constellation itself in the stars.

Make sure you connect your stars right, otherwise you won't be able to submit your constellation. Here's a visual if you need it:

You need to connect stars 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 together in one line. For star 6, you only need to highlight it- do this with the ADD STAR tool. Just click on the star, and it will be highlighted. Once you've got all six stars, go ahead and submit. Remember, if you do anything other then just highlight star 6, the constellation won't work!

Once you've found your constellation, go ahead and submit it. You'll get the screen you got from the Sleeper Constellation that lets you know you've identified it correctly, and you'll see the following through your telescope:

If you're having trouble finding your Dreamer Constellation, the best place to start looking is around your Sleeper Constellation. Most people have found their two constellations are pretty close to each other.

After you've found your second constellation, you'll want to do a few things. The first thing will be to return to the Hall of Heros, where you're going to want to click on the Psellia the Dreamer's Statue. Go ahead and follow that hidden link like you did for the first constellation (remember, it's right where the top of the picture ends and the white part of the page starts), to see this image:

Pretty, yeah? After you're done gazing at the gems, click on the Janitor and see what he has to say about all this:

See there, he didn't yell at you! Instead, we get a theory that the glowing gems might have some meaning later on! As you ponder what it could possibly mean, head back to Finneus in the Altadorian Archives. You'll want to see what he has to say, as well take a look in the Book of Ages...

Read the new pages in the book (pages 9 through 11) while Finneus ponders why the clues are appearing after the Dark Faerie's defeat. When you're done, head back to the Astronomy Club, for the praise you know you deserve!

Seems youre quite the popular one now! You've found two constellations, and we now have insight onto more of the plot!

All right, we're ready for more stargazing! In order to find this next constellation (the First To Rise), you'll have to activate it first, just as you did for the previous two constellations. To start, you must head to the Restative Tombs again, and then click on the spot I've marked for you below. Remember, the link can be a bit tricky to find, so move your mouse slowly until you find the clickable section!

When you click on the hidden link, you'll see the following:

Now that you've dealt with the Tomb portion, head back to the Hall of Heros, and click on Sasha the Dancer's statue (she's the Cybunny). Next, click on the window behind her:

When you do, you'll be looking down into a garden filled with trees and beams of light. And believe it or not, those beams of light hit the ground in a pattern: That of a certain constellation we might be looking for! Click any one of the dots in the garden (I've marked them for you below):

And once you click, you'll get another glowing constellation!

Next, you'll want to head back to Finneus again, to let him know about the newest discovery. Here's what he'll say to you:

For Steps 20 through 35, please go here.
