A sheet of black overlies across the midnight skies. In less than a second I smell the familiar scents of Mystery Island, and the soft crash of waves as they buffeted against the beach. My ears straighten forward and I have a sudden urge to walk toward the forest. I crept through the bushes but stopped as I saw two pairs of eyes staring at me. At a fast rate, dawn approached. The sun's rays began to glitter across the sky. The two figures were still there, this time unmasked by the rising sun. The figures were both lupes. The large male lupe had a sandy colored pelt, and a large tail. The smaller female had a long coat of ice blue fur, and her body was unhealthly skinny. The sandy lupe approached as he muttered, "Usagi, our son." I had no knowledge of anyone or anything named Usagi. Every second as the lupe came closer, I panicked more.
Was he going to kill me? I thought to myself.
I close my eyes and suddenly hear a noise that sounded like the patter of beads hitting a hard floor. When I pried my eyes open a few seconds later I noticed the lupes were gone. In fact I wasn't even on the beach anymore! For some reason I was in front of a neohome made of freshly carved bamboo. I jolted myself to the nearest wind*w, and saw three pets. One I noticed to be a green gelert speckled with white, and the others seemed to be Kougras, Except one was white and had a bow tied to the end of her tail while the other one was green. They were all sad and crying. I wouldn't have a single clue to why they were and thought to myself again why I should care. They wern't my siblings. But yet I felt like they were somehow familiar to me. Without warning everything around me began to fade, and once again I hear the faint sound of beads. after a bright flash of light I was in the middle of a field. It wasn't Mystery Island. I didn't know where I was, but it sure was windy. Where ever I was, It was in the middle of the night and the full moon shown high above the sky. I jolted up. I heard foot steps walking across the tall grass. I decend my nose into the air and sniff.
Two Lupes! It can't be those other two I saw earlier, I wondered.
They both came into sight coming from a different direction. A strong, scarlet looking lupe came from the left from where I was standing. I heard a rustle in the tall grass to the right where I saw a lupe making his way out paw by paw. The pelt on his back looked like the sandy lupe's fur, but this lupe had a band of what looked like a reef with flowers around his neck. The moon hit directly from the his neck down his back, keeping the rest of his body in shadows, including his face.
It can't be that other Lupe from Mystery Island, this one is much smaller. Right this must be his son, Usagi. I recall the sandy pelted Lupe's words in my mind. They continued to walk toward each other, when Usagi stopped and nodded to the other lupe and continued walking. But as soon as they crossed paths the air felt like everything froze. The air around me began to fade into blackness once more, the last image in my mind of the Lupes. Both their eyes were burning in the direction they were heading. But I flinched when I heard instead of the patter of beads, a fierce battle cry and the howls and snarls of many more Lupes. One last cry broke out amoung the cluster of Lupes. As I heard a loud
riiip a single voice howled in pain. Then everything was silent.
I jolted awake, panting heavily. I shake my head to clear my mind of what seemed to be a nightmare, but the images of the lupe and lupess next to each other, the family of pets crying, and the two Lupes, one with which I could not see his face, just wouldn't leave my mind.
