Tarett the Pirate: Episode 1

By Kat (lupes_pwn_)

Part 1

Ever since I was young I was different. I don't mean that I had a different hairstyle than the other kids. It was my personality. I grew up in Faerieland. Most of the pets you see there are faeries. There is a few basic and the odd other colour pet, but mostly faerie. My mother was born and raised in Faerieland. She is a Faerie Gelert. My father is a whole different story. The story which I can't tell you because I don't know much about him. All I know is he met my mother while she was on vacation on Krawk Island. He left in search of something – something my mother never told me – and he never came back. I don't know what happened to him, and neither does my mother. He could have drowned, got lost at sea, or is stuck on a deserted island. But he left ten years a go. We had a search party, but they gave up searching about nine years a go. The only memory I have of him is a gold dubloon which I keep tied around my neck. I can't remember what he looked like though, and whenever I try to ask my mother about him, she just sighs and walks away. Was he a faerie too? There was something about the history of my father, and the way I looked, that told me he wasn't.

I was always looking for adventure and excitement. On a warm spring day at the beginning of June, I decided to leave Faerieland and find adventure. I decided to find my father. I have a gift, my great grandmother had it to, I can read the stars. I can see the past, present, and vague parts of the future. One night, while I was sitting outside under the stars alone, I read that somewhere out there, my father was still alive. Reading far back to the past, I saw his history. Two days after he had left, his boat hit a rock and sunk to the bottom. He was lucky enough to find a broken board, and float over to the nearest island. I couldn't see what island it was, or if there was other pets on the island, but either way, he was alive.
I'll be back Ma, don't worry, I said to my mother when I was getting ready to leave.
What if you don't come back? She said, with a few tears in her eyes.
I will, and I will bring father home too. If I'm not back in six months, send out a search party. I'm heading out to the eastern sea. Holding back some tears, my mother replied, Your father said the exact same thing when he left.

Part 2

This one is yer boat kid.
Thanks Jim. I'll be back soon.
Ya, yer father told me the exact same thing. I was about to get the boat started but stopped. Wait. You knew my father?
Well sure! Everyone from Krawk Island to the east side of Faerieland knew yer father! He is a legend! Don't you know that?
No, I didn't. My mother didn't tell me much about him. She misses him a lot and doesn't want to talk about him.
Well, would you like to learn about yer father?
What did he look like?
Well kid, he looked a lot like you. He was my best friend when we was younger. We lived on Krawk Island and were always looking for adventure. You wouldn't believe the amount of trouble we got ourselves into. He was the all time champ at Dubloon Disastor, the best there ever was actually. Let me tell ya nothing scared him. We went on adventure after adventure together, and laughed in the face of death several times. That dubloon you have around your next, he wore it everywhere. Said someday, he was going to give it to his son. Then, he realized something that scared him. He didn't want to die alone. I think it was a week later when your mother came to the island on a vacation. They had both gone out on an early morning stroll and bumped into each other. He came back hours later than usual and I asked him where he went off to. He told me he had just found the love of his life and he had made the decision to leave Krawk Island and go back to Faerieland with her. I reminded him we had one adventure we never got to go on. He still wanted to go, just not at that time. After a few years I went up to Faerieland to visit him and discovered he had a son. You were the cutest little thing. He told me he never forgot about our one journey and said he still wanted to go on it. But I couldn't. I had reptillious and couldn't afford the cure. He told me to visit the Healing Faerie. She healed me but I still felt weak, and told him to go without me. So he did. That was the one time, he never came back from his adventure.

I listened to the story in awe. He's alive Jim! I know for sure! I'm heading off to find him right now! How do you feel?
I feel fine. Why you ask?
I could use a partner, especially one with experience, like you! He looked at my necklace, took it in his hand and read the back to himself.
I'm getting old, but I think I have one more adventure left in me! Let's go kid! We got in the boat and started to sail away.

Part 3

The sea is smooth today. We have just enough wind to keep us going. I was barely listening to Jim, because I was too busy looking at the dubloon around my neck. Why had Jim looked at it before he agreed to go? Was it just because it was a memory for him of my father? Or was it more? I then realized something I hadn't before. There was some writing on the back. It was in a different language. Hey Jim do you know what this says? He looked at me and walked over.
It says 'ago amo illic est haud cras'. It's latin for 'live like there is no tomorrow.' Me and yer father lived by that motto. Just then, a sudden wind picked up and the sky started to darken.
Brace yerself kid. We're heading into a storm. Weather changes fast at sea. Bring down the sail kid! I ran over to the mast and pulled down the sail. Jim was over at the steering wheel trying to take control. I ran over to help him.
Hold on! The waters are gettin' rough! He had to yell for me to hear him by now. The boat began to bob violently, and water was being thrown over the sides.
Jim! There is water coming over the sides!
Don't worry it'll go back off.
What if something bad happens? What if we don't make it through this storm?!?
Don't worry kid! We will!
But how do you know for sure Jim?
This isn't how I go!
This caught me off gaurd. How did he know it wasn't how he died? Jim seemed wise, but maybe he was just an old Krawk who had swallowed to much sea water when he was young.
The storm is starting to die down now kid. I told you we would make it through. It was true. He didn't have to yell as loud for me to hear him and the sun was starting to shine through the clouds.
How did you know this wasn't how you die?
I'll tell you later kid. For right now, you can work on putting the sail back up.

Part 4

Lots of stars out tonight huh kid?
Ya it's beautiful. May I ask you a question Jim?
Sure kid. What is it?
This morning, you talked about an adventure that you and my father wanted to go on and you wanted to find something. What was it you were looking for?
Well, we wanted to become legends all over Neopia. We wanted to discover an unknown island. It was going to be our last adventure, and we wanted to do it together. But thats not going to happen now.
It still could Jim. Once we find him, we can look for an island with him. As of right now, he is still alive somewhere.
I know he is still alive. He doesn't die on an adventure. Thats not how he goes.
How do you know this Jim? Do you have a gift like me? Can you read the stars too?
No.
Then how do you know?!?
I'll tell you later kid. For right now, we should try and get some sleep.

Good morning!! Time to get up kid! Lets go early start means a longer day! Come on wake up! It was morning already. Jim was eager to start and once it hit me where we were, I was excited too.
Jim I think we should be getting close to land soon. Wait. Where did he go? At one moment he was waking me up and now he was gone. Jim?
I'm over here kid! He was up at the front looking through a telescope. Come look through this kid. I took the telescope and looked through it.
Is that...?
Yes it is kid! LAND!

Part 5

When we got on shore I asked Jim if he knew where we were.
Well it certainly aint Karwk Island thats for sure. But I know I've been here before. A friendly looking Acara came up to us.
Hi there! My name is Sunset! Welcome to Mystery Island!
Of course! I knew I've been here before! Have you seen anyone on this island at anytime that kind of looked like this kid?
Jim asked Sunset, pointing to me.
Well, if I do recall correctly, my mother welcomed someone a very long time a go that looked like you. Come with me, perhaps she could help you. We followed Sunset to her home. I couldn't stop thinking about how pretty she looked. She was an island Acara and her name truly suited her.
Here we are.
Nice place,
Jim said. Why couldn't I think of anything to say to her?
Mom! I have some visitors that need to talk with you!! Another island Acara, an older looking one came to the front with a white towel in her hands.
What is it sweetheart? She stopped when she saw me. oh my. She said and I couldn't read the look on her face. Come on in and sit down. We followed her to the kitchen and sat down at the table. There was a plate of fresh baked cookies in the center.
Please help yourself to a cookie boys. You look kind of hungry. Sunset said. I took two and ate them quietly. Sunset's mother put the towel on the counter and then looked directly at me.
You look exactly like a Gelert that I welcomed to the island about ten years a go. His name was Lou.
He was here? Oh Jim he was here! My father, he made it here! How long did he stay?
He left a few days after he arrived. He said he was on an adventure. I told him to keep in touch, you see, we had become quite good friends within those few days. I never heard from him since. I assumed something bad happened and he would never be back in my life. But you are his son?
Yes I am and he's alive somewhere! Me and Jim set out to find him. Jim was his best friend.
Ah Jim. Lou spoke a lot about you. He said he wished you were with him.
Ya I wished I could have gone with him too. I was very sick though. I probably should have gone anyway. I knew I would be cured eventually. It wasn't how I was going to go. Well, thank you for your help. We should really be on our way.
I want to go with you.
It was Sunset.
No Sunset you really should stay home, said her mother.
All my life I've been here Mom! I want some adventure and excitement! I love you, but I can't stay on the island all my life watching people come and go! I'm not like you! I'll see you again. Her mother sighed and nodded.
I guess your right. You were never like me. Go ahead, but please, be careful and keep in touch.
Yes mom. Goodbye.

We left the house and walked back to the boat.
Knowing your father he would have continued going east, Jim said. We got in the boat and started to sail away. It was a pretty quiet boat ride until we had gone passed Mystery Island and went farther out to sea. Sunset was the one to break the silence.
I'm really excited. I've never been on a real adventure before but always knew that one day I would leave the island. What is your name?
My name is Tarett.
That's a nice name. Have you been on lots of adventures before?
No this is my first.
Well I hope we find your father. How do you know for sure he is still alive?
I can read the stars. I can see the past, present and vague parts of the future.
Thats so cool! I wish I had a special gift.
I'm sure your good at something.
Well I do like to sing. Maybe I will sing something to you later. But not now.
Okay.
I didn't know what else to say, and I don't think she did either.

Part 6

It's starting to get dark, I said later that day.
Ya and really foggy, Sunset replied. We went up to the front where Jim was looking through his telescope again.
What do you see? I asked him.
Kid, I see something I have never seen in all my years of traveling these seas. Take a look. He handed the telescope over to me.

I looked through, hoping to see land, but instead what I saw was a big creature. I lowered the telescope and looked forward in shock. Sunset took the telescope from me and looked through. Then it fell from her hands without her saying a word. Whatever it was, had seen the boat and was now swimming towards us.
Jim what do we do?
I doubt that thing can hurt us kid.
How do you know?
I asked him.
This isn't how I go. It was swimming faster and faster towards us and then it disappeared once it got close to the boat.
Ya see kid, nothing happened. But Jim had spoke too soon. After he had finished his sentence, I heard Sunset scream. Then there was a big splash.
Sunset! I ran to the side of the boat and looked over just to see her get pulled under. Jim we have to save her!
I'm way ahead of ya kid!
He had rope in his hands and tied it around my waist. You jump in and grab her, and pull on the rope once you get her. Then I'll pull you two up. Now hurry, go! I dove in and saw the creature swimming down with Sunset. I swam as fast as I could and caught up to them. getting closer to the creature, I saw it looked like a maraquan Spyder. I grabbed Sunset from the Spyder and pulled on the rope. Staying true to his word, Jim pulled us up as fast as he could. The Spyder swam after us but I kept trying to kick it away as hard as I could. Finally I was at the surface and got Sunset and I up on to the boat with Jim's help. Sunset coughed up water and a bit of seaweed but she was okay. She got up and gave me a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek. I couldn't help but blush and Jim couldn't help but smile.
Thank you Tarett! You save my life!!

We continued forward until night fell again. I looked up at the stars.
Is your father still alive? Sunset asked me.
Yes. Yes he is. And I can see that tomorrow, we are going to find more land. I just can't see if he will be on that land.

Part 7

LAND!!! I woke up to hear Jim yelling 'land' the next morning. Sunset was already up and helping Jim steer toward the island. Within half an hour we had arrived.
Where do you think we are now Jim? I asked when we got off the boat.
Well kid, I can't even make a guess. I've never seen this place in my life.
It's really foggy,
Sunset pointed out. Maybe we should walk around and see if anyone lives here.
Good idea Sunset. Lets stick together though, don't want anyone gettin' lost.
Jim replied. We walked around for a while and found no one.
We've been walking for hours. I don't think there is anyone here. I said.
No wait. Listen. Do you here that? Sunset asked. We stopped to listen. Then I heard it. It sounded like a party.
This way. Sunset took the lead through the trees and then stopped. Right there. We looked out and saw some kind of Neopet walking around and talking. Some were singing.
Lutari's, said Jim. He did it. This has to be the place.
Look back there!
said Sunset. I followed where she was pointing and saw him. My father. Jim stood up and began walking toward him. Me and Sunset followed. The Lutari's noticed us, but didn't seem to mind we were there.
Dad? Father!! I then realized I was the one shouting out to him. He turned to look at us.
Hey Jim is that you? He started to come toward us. My son? Tarett!
Hey buddy I knew were still alive!
Jim said to him.
Of course I'm still alive old friend. You know how I go. The he turned to look at me. Tarett? My boy?
Yes father it's me. I came out here to find you.
You are brave, son.
He reminds me so much of you Lou. Very adventurous, that's for sure.
Ma misses you terribly father. Everyday I know she wishes you would come home.
I will now that I can. My friends here have taken great care of me. Who is this?
He had finally noticed Sunset standing there.
This is Sunset, I replied. She is coming back with us. Well, if she wants to. A smile formed on her face.
Oh yes Tarett! Of course I do! We led my father back to the boat and started sailing back home.

Part 8

On our way back, I overheard Jim and my father talking.
Well Lou, you did it buddy. You completed our adventure. You found an unknown island. What did you name it?
Well Jim I named it after it's inhabitants, Lutari Island.
I walked over to them and asked a question I had wanted to know the answer to the whole time.
How do you know how your going to die? Jim and my father looked at each other and smiled.
We met an old lady on one of our adventures and she had a crystal ball. She showed us exactly how we were going to go. My father said.
Really? I was shocked. She could do that?
Yep.
They said at the same time.

When we got home, my mother was overjoyed. We celebrated and went out for dinner. Me and my father planned to go on another adventure together, but that's a whole other story. Sunset loved Faerieland and stayed with us. I will live the rest of my life by one motto, and one motto only: ago amo illic est haud cras.

The End

What happens next?

Yes, I plan to write many more stories of Tarett because there are so many possibilities! This is a little sneak peak of what would come in Tarett's next story:

Tarett, his father, and Sunset embark on a new adventure, this time, they end up in Geraptiku. They face more dangers than before, and at times, feel as though they may not make it back home alive. Tarett and his father get closer after so many years apart, and the relationship between Tarett and Sunset gets deeper. Jim may play a small role but I haven't quite decided if he will go on the adventure with them.

Tarett the Pirate: Episode 2

By Kat (lupes_pwn_)

Part 1

Everyone has a song. Sometimes it speeds up, sometimes it slows down. Some are longer than others, but every song has an end. I can hear those songs, and one in particular has always seemed to be louder than the rest, though I don't who or where it's coming from. It was a relatively slow tempo, until recently, when the tempo sped up really fast. It's been fast paced ever since. But I also know how long a song is, and this song, is supossed to end way to early. It's weird how much you can learn from someone's song, and how much you can't. He is male, just turned 16, and has a special talent. He can read the stars and know the past, present, and future, but he can't read his own. I set off on my own for the first time to find him. He's something special, I know that, and I need to make his song last longer than it's supossed too.

Part 2

Sunset! Hurry up, you're taking forever! I called out to her from the doorway. My dad chuckled beside me.
She's a girl, Tarett. She going to take longer to get ready than we are. A few moments later, Sunset came running down the stairs. I'm ready, I'm ready to go now. She sounded out of breath. We all said good bye to my mother and headed out the door. Jim'll have a boat ready for us when we get to the harbour. He's coming with us. My father told us. We walked as fast as we could. It would be my second adventure, and I didn't know where we were going.

Sure enough, our boat was ready when we reached the harbour, and Jim looked ready to go. Hey Lou, everything is ready!
Wow Jim, great boat old boy. It's bigger than one we've ever adventured with before!
We all got in and I went to the front to steer the boat out of the harbour and into the open sea. The water was smooth and there was just enough wind to use the sails. I assumed it was a sign that this adventure was going to go great. As noon rolled around, my father called me and Sunset over to him, and told us he had a surprise for us. He opened his bag and pulled out a sword. This is for you son. It once belonged to a real pirate. I found it on one of our adventures, after their shipped crashed. Me and Jim helped some of the pirates get to safety, so they gave me this sword. Now, I'm giving it to you.
But dad, what will I need a sword for? We're more of adventurers than pirates. We don't steal stuff.
No, but this is just in case.
I looked at him and took the sword. It was beautiful. And for you Sunset, he pulled out a bow and arrow set. Again, just in case.
Oh wow! Thanks so much Lou!
He smiled at us, then went back to talk to Jim.

Night fell and it was time for me to rest. On my way to the cabin, I overheard my father and Jim talking. You know, you didn't have to come with us Jim, my father was saying.
Of course I did Lou! I wanted to enjoy my last adventure with you! And besides, I'm not going to change my destiny, there isn't any other way I would want to go.
Well I won't be getting any sleep tonight.
Neither will I Lou, you've been a great friend.

Part 3

I woke up the next morning abrubtly. Something was wrong. Why hadn't I looked at the stars last night? I held my necklace and called out for Sunset. Yes Tarett? I'm over here, is something wrong?
I don't know,
I replied. I ran out the cabin and onto the deck. My father was steering the ship and Jim was right beside him. There it is Lou. I heard Jim say, as he pointed toward a storm cloud that was approaching fast. Then he turned around and walked toward me. He put his hand on my shoulder and said, It was nice knowing ya kid. Yer just like yer father, stay that way. Then he walked back to the front with my father. I looked at Sunset, confused. What was he talking about? Then I heard my father shout, Tarett! Sunset! Brace yourselves, there is a mighty storm coming! Lower the sails and hang on tight! I noticed my father had tears in his eyes, but we did what he said. Moving as quick as we could, we lowered the sails and I held on to Sunset tight, I didn't want to have to jump in after her again. The wind picked up fast and the waves got bigger. Our ship was being thrown around violently in the storm and water gushed over the sides. We were all being thrown back and forth and it was hard to see anything. It seemed to last forever, until there was a loud crash, then I felt submerged by water, then nothing.

Part 4

I woke up couging and choking up a bit of water. I was on land, and I was alive. I sat up and noticed a beautiful desert Aisha sitting beside me. Oh you are awake! She said. Umm ya, I said, rubbing my head. Who, are you? I asked her confused.
My name is Lyssia, and I just saved your life.
Saved my life from what? I couldn't remember anything that had happened before. Your ship crashed in the storm. I saved you and brought you to shore. Then it all came flooding back to me. I jump up. Where's Sunset? And my father? And Jim? Did you see anyone else Lyssia?
Yes, I did.
She said slowly. I'm pretty sure they are down the beach a few miles.
Everyone is there together?
Two of them. The other one's song ended.

Meanwhile

Sunset! Are you alright? Lou called out. Yes, I'm fine Lou. Where's Tarett? And Jim?
Jim didn't make it out of this alive, I know that for sure. This was how he went. But I don't know where Tarett is. I really hope he got lucky, like us.
Tears came to Sunset's eyes. Jim was gone, and Tarett might be too. What do we do? She asked.
We need to keep it together Sunset. We need to find food, shelter and we need to look for Tarett at the same time. I have no idea where we are, I've never seen this place in my life. That means we need to stick together. Sunset nodded her head, and they began walking down the beach.

Part 5

Lyssia and I began our long walk down the beach. What do you mean Jim's song ended? I asked her. Everyone has a song. Sometimes it speeds up, sometimes it slows down. Some are longer than others, but every song has an end. I can hear those songs. When your song ends, so does your life. Your friend's song ended last night when your boat crashed. So Lyssia had a special talent like me? I put my hand to my neck. I was happy to find that my necklace was still around my neck and my sword was at my waist. So why did you save me? Why not Jim if you knew his song was going to end? I asked her. Because, your something special. Your song has always played the loudest, for some reason. I needed to find you and figure out what was so special. I also saw that your song was ending soon, and I needed to make it last longer.
Well thank you, but I don't need you protecting me anymore. I can take it from here.
Lyssia stopped. Ok fine, suit yourself. She stayed where she was and I continued walking. Songs? I thought being able to read the stars was weird, but hearing everyone's song? Having one playing louder for your entire life. Now that was weird.

I had been walking for hours, when finally, I saw faint figures over the horizon. I forgot how tired I was and began to run. As I got closer I realized it was not who I thought it was. There were about a dozen little creatures. I'd never seen anything like it in my life. They had skull heads and held spears out towards me. I stopped in front of them, hoping the creatures were friendly. I waved and smiled, assuming the didn't speak english. Mu kugga ooaa. The one in front said. That definitely wasn't english. Oola newna! Said the one in the front, and they all began to cheer. They walked closer to me and I pulled out my sword. They stopped for a moment, but didn't seem threatened.
Ay! O ala go not! Another little creature jumped in front of me. It said some weird words to the creatures with spears, then they turned and walked into the jungle. Once they had disappeared in the trees, the creature turned around and said, Hiya mate! The name's Noka. I'm a Slogmok, and you are?
Umm, I'm Tarett.
I said. Nice to meet ya Tarett! So what brings you to Geraptiku?
Uh my ship crashed, and I ended up here. I'm just trying to find my dad and friend. I'm quite sure they are on this beach somewhere.
Alright, but I'm coming with you. New comers don't want to wander Geraptiku alone, especially when night falls.
We began walking down the beach again.

Part 6

Hey Lou, I found a coconut! Sunset said, picking up the coconut. Good one Sunset! Then she screamed. What's wrong!
It has legs!
She cried, dropping it. Lou and Sunset watched as it walked off into the jungle. Well let's continue down the beach. Lou sighed. They had been walking for hours and there was no sign of editble food or shelter on the beach. There was also no sign of Tarett. They didn't want to go into the jungle they had been walking beside the whole time, but they just might have to.

Meanwhile

I had been walking with Noka for only a few minutes, when we saw figures coming up over the horizon again. I didn't rush like I had last time, but I picked up my pace a bit. As I got closer, I noticed that there were only two figures, and they were taller than the creatures I had encountered before. I began to run, and as I got closer I called out, Dad! Sunset!. And sure enough, they began to pick up their pace. Tarett! Is that you son? We got closer and it was them. I hugged my father and Sunset, then introduced them to Noka. We should get to the village mates. Noka said. Everyone stick together and follow me. You don't want to get lost in this jungle. We did what we were told and we got to a clearing in no time. There were poorly built shelters and fruit trees with very strange fruits. There wasn't very much of anything living there. You may stay in my cabin tonight. Tomorrow, we try to find a way for you to get home. Noka led us to a small shelter. We all squeezed in un comfortably. G'night mates!

I awoke in the middle of the night. There was a heavy smell of smoke. I looked around me. The cabin was on fire. Sunset! Father! Noka! Wake up the cabin's on fire! They woke up and we ran out side. The creatures I had seen earlier were jumping around chanting strange words. Ay! Noka screamed at them. No lua tak taka mo sina ke tek! He was yelling at them pointing to his cabin. They ran over to us and jumped on Noka, with their spears still in their hands.
Noka! I pulled out my sword and ran towards the creatures. No Tarett! Noka yelled at me. Just run! I'll be alright mate! I turned to Sunset and my father and said, we need to listen to him. Lets go! We turned and ran out of the village. We came to a large stone door covered in vines. I cut the vines with my sword and pushed the stone door open. It was extremely heavy and I could only open it enough so we just fit in. Come on, we'll be safe in here. I said. There was torch on the wall, our only source of light. I grabbed the torch and the floor began to crumble from underneath us. I looked up quick enough to grab Sunset and a vine above us. My dad had also grabbed a vine. He had been on enough adventures to know a few tricks. We're gonna have to swing over to that platform over there. My father informed us. Can you do that Sunset? I asked her.
Yes, I can do it, she said as she reached out and grabbed a vine. We swung quite effortlessly from vine to vine until we reached the platform. It was a lot easier than it looked.
This whole place is full of traps, we need to be extremely careful. There has to be another way out. My father was saying. I took a careful step forward, But it was a big mistake. Large spears came flying out the walls from both sides. We ducked, but I couldn't fully get out of the way in time. I had been hit.

Part 7

The spear had hit my leg and I was in incredible pain. Sunset pulled out the spear and my leg was gushing blood. Lou what do we do? She cried.
I don't know Sunset! I'm not a doctor!
He's losing a lot of blood!
I know! Lets try putting pressure on it.
Their voices seemed to be getting farther and farther away, until it was completely quiet and black.

Then there was a light. It was far away at first, but it came closer and closer, until the entire room was lit again. But I wasn't where I was before. Sunset and my father were gone, there was no one here. I could hear the sound of a river in the distance. Then Jim appeared, almost out of no where. Jim? I thought you were dead.
I am kid.
Wait. Does that mean I'm...
Almost. You need to find yer inner strength and get outta there. Think of yer father, yer mother, Sunset, Noka, Lyssia...
Wait. Lyssia?
Yes kid. Your song is ending.
I thought of Lyssia, and her face appeared. I told you your song was ending too soon. She said.
No! I won't let it. I need to get my father and Sunset out of there! Come on Tarett! Wake up!

Part 8

I opened my eyes again and this time, I was back where I was before. Sunset was watching me with tears in her eyes and my father was standing over me looking worried. Tarett! Your awake! Sunset cried. I looked at my leg. It was still in a lot of pain, but I could walk. My father had ripped a piece of his shirt and wrapped up my leg. We need to get out of here. I told them. We're gonna have to keep going forward, because we can't go back. We started to walk forward and the hallway soon opened into a large room. There were no visible exits. There has to be someway out. I said. Everyone check the walls. I then noticed a box in the middle of the room. I walked over to it and was about to open it when my father stopped me. Don't touch it.
I just want to see what's in it.
I said as I opened the lid. Inside was millions of neopoints worth in treasures. I forgot about any traps and picked up the box. The walls began to close in on us. I told you not to touch it! My father yelled at me. There's no way out son! Then a light came from above us and a vine came down. There's our way out! We need to climb the vine. I said as I began to climb, treasure still in my hands. When I got out, I saw Lyssia standing beside the exit. I guess you do need me to help protect you. She said. Sunset and my dad came out behind me. Your song almost ended Tarett. Your lucky, and stronger than I thought. If you follow me, I can lead you through the jungle to Mystery Island, where you can buy a boat and go home. I think you have enough cash, she said, pointing to the box.
Wait. What about Noka? I asked. He'll be ok. His song is still going, and will be for a while.

We followed Lyssia through the jungle towards Mystery Island. It was a long and quiet journey back. Finally, just when it was beginning to get dark, we emerged from the jungle and onto Mystery Island. I assume you can find your way from here Lyssia said, as she turned and began to walk away. Hey Lyssia? I called after her. She turned to look at me. Thanks. She nodded and walked away. I looked at the box and said excitedly, well, lets go get our own boat!

What happens next?

Exiled: Episode 1

Part 1

The day started out normally, but I had an uneasy feeling. It was around noon when the guards came into the front hall of my palace yelling King Skixae! King Skixae! The Meridell army is here to attack! I looked over at my wife and son and asked, how close are they to the village?
Sir, their already in the village and are headed to the castle!
Just then, the front door burst open and the army came storming in. I could hear the screams from the village people and my my wife, Queen Lyla. They were holding her down and I had no idea what to do. My mind was drawing a blank and the whole world seemed to be spinning around me. That was when I heard my son, Adam, calling out for me, Dad! Dad help me!! He was being taken away by the army. Instinctively, I ran over and jumped on the army in attempt to save my son. They pulled out swords and and slashed my right shoulder causing a deep wound, but I would not give up. The swords were made of heavy metal and it scared me to know there were five or more coming at me all at the same time while I was trying to protect my son. I saw the side of one of them come flying at my head. Everything began to get blurry and my son's yelling seemed to be getting farther and farther away, until everything went black, and completely silent.

Part 2

When I awoke, there was a group of villagers around me yelling and screaming in horror. I looked to my right and saw a huge scar, and I immediately remembered what happened. Lyla! I called out.
I'm right here Skix, she said as she came to my side.
Are you all right?
Yes, I'm fine.
What about Adam? Where is he?
Lyla was silently looking at her feet. Then she looked up at me with tears in her eyes, shaking her head. They killed him Skixae. At first I didn't believe her, but then it began to sink in and the tears started to come. Then someone from the back yelled, why didn't you stop them!
I had no time, they came to fast.
I replied. Then the questions started coming hard and fast, and people started yelling out comments. They took my husband!
They burned down half the village!
They took my daughter!
Did you know they were coming?
The last question got me. I thought to myself about it. They had sent me a warning about a week back, but I had no idea when they were coming or if they were even telling the truth since there had not been an attack in fifty years. Well, yes I did but...
Then why didn't you tell us? It was my brother, Prince Diesel. I was about to answer but he continued on. Did you plan this all? Did you want the village to be destroyed? Did you tell them to kill your son so it would look like you didn't tell them to come?
NO! I would never!
Then the villagers were in an uproar and everyone seemed to believe what Diesel was saying. I looked at Lyla expecting her to speak up for me but the look on her face told me she believed Diesel too and no longer had any faith in me. We don't want a king like him!
Ya! Darigan City would be destroyed all together if he continues to reign!
Then my brother looked at me and said, why would you do this Skix?
Diesel, I had nothing to do with it.
There is only one punishment for those who do such a horrible thing.
Diesel, no.
EXILE!!
Everyone began to agree and yelling at me telling me to leave right away. I looked for Lyla but she was already gone. They began throwing stones at me so I turned and ran away. As I ran I heard Diesel shout, FOR FIFTY YEARS! OR LIFE, WHICHEVER COMES LAST!!

Part 3

I was a few miles out of the town limits and was beginning to wonder where I was going to go or how I was going to live the rest of my life. My son was dead and my wife did not believe in me anymore. My own brother exiled me. I didn't want to be alone my whole life, but I knew no one was going to come to find me.
I continued walking for hours thinking to myself, but then it started to get dark. I was starving but there was nothing around where I was, wherever I was, I had no idea. I found a cave and went inside. It was extremely dark and I had no idea where I was walking. I bumped into something, hoping it was a wall, but knowing my luck, it wasn't. A huge tyrannian Kyrii loomed over me. It didn't look very welcoming so I turned around and ran towards the way out. I got out the cave and looked back, it wasn't following me. I walked for about half an hour more until it was completely dark and then lied down on the cold grass and tried to get some sleep.

Part 4

A awoke with a sharp pain in my shoulder and noticed my scar. It brought back unwanted memories of yesterday, but I had to try not to think about it so I could find a place to stay for a while. I walked only a few minutes when I heard a strange buzzing noise. I looked around and saw a strange creature flying around me. Then it stopped to hover near my head. Hi there! It said.
Ummm... hello. I replied back. Who and what are you? I asked it.
I am a Magaral, and my name is Karma.
Hi Karma, I'm Skixae. Look, I'm sorry, but I had the worst day of my life yesterday so I don't really want to talk to anyone right now.
Was it worse than mine?
Well unless you were exiled, had your son killed and your wife turn her back on you, then we would have had the exact same day and neither could have been worse. But if all that stuff didn't happen to you then yes, mine was worse than yours.
No that didn't happen to me but...
That's what I thought, so if you'll excuse me, I need to find some food.
I began to walk away when Karma stopped me.
I know where you can get some food from. She said.
You do?
Ya I passed a place about an hour a go up that way. I can take you there if you want.
Well, if it's not to much trouble.
It's not. Trust me, I have nothing better to do.

Part 5

It was a quiet walk on the way to the restaurant Karma had passed. It turned out to be a deli stand run by an old Kacheek. We ordered some food and sat down on one of the little picnic tables. Karma was the one to finally break the silence. So it sounds like you had a pretty horrible day yesterday based on what you were saying before. She said.
Ya I did. But I don't want to talk about it.
Would you like to hear about my horrible day?
She asked me. When I was king, I had to listen to all of the villagers thoughts and complaints. Being a king for twenty years, it was hard to let go of something you did almost every single day. So I replied, Sure, I would love to here it.
Well it started out normally. I woke up, said good morning to my Master. And throughout the day, she seemed to be losing interest in me. Then by the end of the day she said she didn't want me anymore and she got a new petpet. Five years she was my best friend and that all went away within one day. As soon as she got rid of me I flew away and ended up here. That's when I saw you. You looked kind of lonely and I just want a friend.
I thought about Karma's last sentence. Her day sounded pretty bad too, and I could use a friend too. It was an unlikely pair, but that didn't matter. I need a friend too Karma. What do you think, should we continue on and find somewhere good to go?
Sure Skix.

Part 6

It was a few months later and Karma and I had found a nice house on Mystery Island. We went out for a walk by the harbor one day when a darigan Buzzer stopped us. I bring a message from the High Court in Darigan City. It said.
Why do you bring a message to me? I asked the Buzzer.
Queen Lyla says she has an urgent message for you but needs to tell you in person. She needs you to return to Darigan City by the morning.
Lyla? But I was exiled, I cannot return.
King Diesel is at an urgent meeting with the Meridell soldiers for the next three days. You must hurry.
Lyla wanted to talk to me while Diesel was away? I knew it must be important. Come on Karma lets go. No time to pack anything we're leaving right now! She said nothing, but instead, just followed my lead.

Halfway to Darigan, she asked, You were a king?
Yes, I was.
What happened? Why can't you go back?
It's kind of a long story Karma, I'll tell you when we get back to Mystery Island.
We still have a bit of a way to go. Tell me now.
Ok fine.
So the rest of the way to Darigan I told Karma for the first time what had happened on that day.

Part 7

We arrived in Darigan City late that night and sneaked into the castle, following the Buzzer. We went straight up to the tallest tower where the Buzzer had said Queen Lyla would be waiting for me. We walked in and saw Queen Lyla sitting on a chair in the center of the room, the only piece of furniture that was in there. Lyla whats wrong? Why did you send for me?
Diesel lied to everyone Skix!
She sounded scared. He told the Meridell army to come attack so he could frame you! Then with you exiled and Adam dead, he knew he would be the only choice for king! He told me a few days ago and said if I ever told anyone he would kill me!
NO! I won't let him do it Lyla! I always suspected he was jealous and wanted the throne! We need to leave NOW! I've found a great new place, we'll live there.
But what about Diesel and the rest of the village?
There is nothing I could do Lyla. They wouldn't believe me, I'm an exile, no longer their king. But I can and will save you Lyla. Come on!
I grabbed her hand and we ran out the door and out the castle as fast as we could go with Karma following right behind us. Since it was the middle of the night, all the villagers were sleeping and could not hear us running out of the town.
Once we were out of the city limits, Lyla finally calmed down enough to realize Karma was there and asked, Who is this Skix?
This is Karma. She's a really good friend of mine.
Karma... interesting name.
Then she looked at Karma with a smile on her face. She looked like she was thinking about something.
What are you thinking about Lyla? I asked her.
Karma. She said.
Yes, that is my name Queen Lyla.
Please, call me Lyla. Skixae, when did you meet Karma?
The day after 'you know what' happened.
Alright. So where are you living now?
Mystery island.
I still had no idea what she was thinking but she still had the same smile on her face. We continued walking and stopped at the same Deli on the way to Mystery Island.

Part 8

We were finally safe at our home in Mystery Island and Lyla still seemed really interested in Karma's name and when she showed up in my life. That night as we were getting ready to go to bed I said to Lyla, What do you think Diesel is doing right now?
I don't know. But I wouldn't worry about what he's doing now, karma will catch up to him eventually.
