Picnic

Dios Mio

This has to be the perfect spot for a picnic, You decide looking around. The gentle summer breeze filling the clearing, feels good against your skin. It caresses the grass around you, causing its long green blades to dance. You grab the sandwich you had packed and savor the taste. As you begin humming a random song that has been stuck in your head all day, a blinding light causes you to slam your eyes shut.
When you open them, a grey wolf stands before you, her solid baby blue eyes have no pupils as she watches you. A long rope ending with a sky blue gem hovers, glowing a radiant light. Slowly the light fades to a slight glimmer and falls back against the wolf's chest. "Who are you?" The female asks, her voice sounds oddly like the wind, and as she speaks a slightly stronger breeze rolls through the clearing.
I'm guest, sorry if I'm trespassing." You reply slightly shy of this wolf. Though she is small, about the size of a medium sized dog, a certain power seems to radiate from her fur. "No, you are not trespassing. I am Saura." She seems hesitant and slightly on guard, not coming within five feet of you.
She realizes you looking at her questioningly. "You must excuse my behavior," She says in a polite voice, bowing her head apologetically, "I have not seen any other being apart from the birds and the squirrels and the deer in a long time." Her voice sounds slightly sad and the breeze slows and also seems slightly forlorn. Your eyebrows scrunch together, "Why's that?" You ask but instantly regret it. Her eyes grow sad and she lays down, "If you must know, I shall tell you." She whispers sadly, the breeze carrying her words and suddenly the sky turns grey and slow snowflakes begin to fall from the sky. As you wrap the blanket, you are sitting on, around your shoulders she begins her story.

.:Alone:.
I do not remember my mother or my father, or any family for that matter. All I remember from being a puppy is being cold and alone. I remember walking out of the small shelter I was under and seeing blood everywhere. My father lay off to the right, a thin layer of snow covering his silver pelt. My mother lay just before the entrance to my shelter, her blood staining the snow around her throat. Two little massacred forms lay here and there around the clearing…I later discovered that they were my siblings.
I lived months in fear that I would be next, yet my parent's attackers must have believed that there was only four in the family, not five, for they never came back. After those few months I finally felt brave enough to leave my shelter.

.:Razir:.
I often visited the place of my family's massacre as I grew. The place became a sanctuary for me. I would talk to no one in particular about everything that was going on in the forest and with me. It may have looked odd, but for me it was comforting.
On one day as I was walking to my sanctuary, I ran into a dark ebony wolf, dark red markings coated his legs and muzzle. His name was Razir and he and I soon became inseparable. I would take him to my clearing, and he would talk with me, he didn't act as though it was odd. We shared the same intrests and we seemed perfect for each other…or so I thought.

.:Necklace:.
It wasn't long before Razir proposed to be my mate. I was delighted and raced to the clearing the second I said yes. When I reached the sanctuary, I had paced back and forth, just babbling about how excited I was. A noise from behind me had caused me to turn, yet there was nothing there. When I turned back a brilliant gem, glimmering on the end of a rope necklace, hung on a branch before my face. As tears filled my eyes I took the glimmering stone from the tree. There was no doubt it was a present from my mother. At the time I believed it was a present….not a life saver.
I wore the gorgeous necklace everywhere, Razir seemed oddly uncomfortable around me when I was wearing it and he begged me to be rid of it. I would just laugh, "It's a present from my mother." I would say, to which he would become quiet and glare at the stone.

.:Worry:.
I began to notice Razir began leaving me for frequent periods of time. I disregarded it as him looking for bigger and more exciting game. Yet everywhere I went rumor seemed to follow. Even the birds would whisper, "He cheats." "Two-timer." "There's another." But I was too stubborn to listen….
After a week of not seeing him I grew worried. I began searching the wood for him, calling his name. After a million times of no responses, a low howl finally reached my ears. I was filled with a great joy as I recognized his call, which told me to meet him in the clearing. With hope and joy in my heart I ran as fast as I could back to my sanctuary, expecting my mate to be waiting there a huge smile on his face.
As I skidded into the clearing it was apparent that I was alone…but he said wait…so wait I did. After an hour my patience began to sway. My heart was filling with dread that he had left me. But just as I was losing all hope, he stepped from the shade of the trees. The moonlight glimmered against the snow and his fur. My cry of greeting as I jumped forward, was lost in my throat as I finally saw the look on his face. It was crazed and mad. Before I could move he lunged.

.:Betrayal:.
Snow fell as he attacked. The grief I felt had broken my heart in two, and my limbs refused to defend me. Each and every blow was nothing compared to the pain I felt.
I gazed up at him from the snow covered ground. His red eyes were glaring at my sad blue ones. I tried to speak, to tell him to stop, but I was much too weak. As my blood dripped from my fangs he dived one more time. I felt pressure on my throat and then nothing.

.:Revival:.
I wasn't gone for long. Soon an odd tingling sensation flowed through my limp limbs and I found that I could open my eyes. I was dumbfounded as I sat up, thinking that perhaps it had been a dream. But I saw the pool of blood and the scars on my legs to know that I was mistaken.
With enormous grief I wished nothing more than to be far away from the clearing. As I wished, an brilliant light appeared from the gem and as it died I was amazed to see that my old sanctuary had vanished, it was replaced by a cave. The faint smell of death and, with a twinge of sadness, Razir seemed to come from deeper in. I followed the scent, expecting to find Razir and a recent kill. As I rounded a bend in the cave I froze.
Laying there in the back, was what appeared to have been a female wolf. I wrinkled my nose in disgust as I stepped closer. Raznir's scent was all over this place, though it was old. The fae looked as though she had been gone for just under a year. Her blood coated the entire cave. With dawning realization I realized that I was not Razir's first kill. A surprising anger filled my body. The wind began roaring as though there was a hurricane as I vanished from the cave, but I took no notice.

.:Losing Control:.
I reappeared in the middle of a vast forest. The trees were all half bent under the weight of the powerful wind, yet my fur was just wiping around angrily. Raising my nose, I hunted for the location of HIM. Finally finding it I stalked through the trees, hovering about half a foot off the ground. The wind grew stronger and stronger as I grew closer and closer, lightning flashed through the air and thunder roared furiously as small rocks of fire streaked to the earth.
When I reached HIM I saw he was not alone. He was with another female, who was holding onto him as the walked bent double through the gale. The storm grew more powerful as my anger grew. She slipped on a rock and went soaring through the air. As he looked up, no doubt to try and save her, his red eyes locked onto mine. His whole body froze as his surprise was evident on his face. "Miss me?" I not but whispered the word yet it hit his ears as though I had screamed it in his ear. Glaring him down the wind grew too powerful, he rose a foot off the ground as a tornado formed, ripping up trees and boulders.
All my anger, all my hurt, all my grief was transformed into the tornado which stayed in one place, hurling everything into Razir. Yet just as quickly as the anger had come. It was gone. The tornado vanished letting all it had lifted fall to the ground. On the top of the heap lay the tattered body of Razir. Yet he had not passed. Hovering over to him, my legs not touching the ground, I stood over him, just as he had to me. And, holding his gaze, lunged down and dealt the killing blow.

.:Lucky:.
Just like that the storm ended. Large fluffy snowflakes replaced the fire, as it danced to the earth, spiraling and spinning all the way. My paws finally touched the earth and I walked over to the other female who lay dying from the blow against the tree. Making a spilt second decision I placed the gem on her chest and it healed her as it had done to me.
As the gem was working its magic I surveyed the damage I had done. I now knew that I could control the weather; that I was nothing more than the wind. My sadness caused it to rain and snow. My anger caused destruction. With horror I realized that, had I been angrier, then the storm would have continued, killing many more than I wanted. I promised myself never to loose control again.
As she gained consciousness she looked at me horrified that I was going to kill her next, yet I shook my head and looked into her eyes sadly, "No. You knew nothing about him. You are just luckier than me and the others." With that I disappeared.

Summer Breeze

As the wolf finishes, you wrap the blanket tighter around you, for the wind has now quickened and is blowing icily against your skin. The wolf notices the action and with a delicate smile, the wind slows to a gentle summer breeze once more. "Thank you." You say and she nods in reply, "I must go now." Is all she says, her wind like voice sounding almost sad, "It was very nice talking to you." And before you can reply there is a blinding light and you force your eyes closed. When you open them, the wolf is gone, only the warm breeze remains.
