Everybody understands it's importance, a word that slips off our tongue just after life. That is only the obvious. But our obvious and her obvious are different. Life is more than the physical, life is emotion, life is memories, life is identity, ideas.
If life and water walk hand in hand, shouldn't water relate to all of these things? We can't read what water knows, we can't fathom its memories.
She can.

Rain fell softly on the lush green of the garden and pattered like a drum on the gazebo roof. The draikess sitting inside the oriental structure inhaled deeply to catch the fresh smell of the rain-stoked earth, and more. As she extended a hand to catch the downpour on its way down all sorts of sounds and scents barraged her with each drop of rain. Jaiyze let the hallucinations play through her mind while her eyes misted over and a small smile curved across her blank face.
Dust cedar, rosemary, and wait, was there just a dash of honey? Somewhere out there somebody must be burning pine, the acrid smell was distinctive, and the smell of sap dripped into her nose. Silky textures wound over her left hand wherever the water touched, and then changed to rough bark.
Jaiyze leaned out a little further from under the gazebo roof to catch the sounds of echoing bells and a voice singing, along with the babble of everyday conversation.
No, really dear, I ordered the blue-
It's in the back next to the peaches.
Shut up already!
....Will you marry me?
How cute, mused Jaiyze, letting out a soft awwwww.
She pondered tasting some of the rain, but sometimes the things she got were absolutely nasty, and decided against it. The visions tugging on the corner of her eyes finally stormed in and the world before her faded.
To replace it, scenes from scorching deserts with glittering hills of sand rose before her, and Jaiyze swayed slightly, blanching at the sight. Her hand tightened on the gazebo rail she could barely see, but her hold relaxed as the image changed to a meadow filled with blood red poppies and white peaks high above smooth rolling hills.
The very last image was an expanse of glittering water stretched out under a dying sun. The sunset spilled out like egg yolk to fade into the darker fringes of the sky. The silhouettes of seabirds wheeled and dipped in the last remains of light and a powerful tang of salty air shot up through Jaiyze's nostrils.
Eventually the ocean vision passed.
The raw longing in her eyes did not.

Jaiyze happens to be a rare subspecies of your average mage, or magician. They're called sensmages (Sehnz-may-ghes), short for sensual mages. Their power isn't extraordinary in any way, and they are unable to master more than one element.
Their one quirk is that whichever element their power is conveys all sorts of data to their senses. Water is the most common element of all sensmages. Elements carry embedded data, or 'memories' of where they were earlier. This information can trace back centuries, and water is unusually adept at it, being the source of life on Earth.
If a water sensmage dips their hand into a bucket of water they will immediately start receiving sensual information about where the water was before. They might see an image of what the bucket looks like viewed from the inside, or the well the water came from, feel the texture of the bucket on their skin, taste the inside of the well, etc. Seeing, hearing, tasting, touching and smelling are all affected, but seeing seems to be the main way of communicating data, and tasting the rarest.
Fire sensmages are the rarest with only one ever recorded, earth sensmages are slightly more common, there have been 10 wind sensmages in the course of history, but water mages are by far the most numerous.
However, they are scattered across time and frequently die young. Sensmages are notorious for bad magical control. If they can't control the data pouring into their senses, they risk being overloaded if they are exposed to large amounts of their element. Once overloaded, a sensmage's brain panicks and shuts down the body, sending them into a coma that can lead to death.
Lovely, no?

Jaiyze is a dreamy, friendly draik with a dislike of her family and all they stand for. She's incredibly passionate and will pour her whole soul into an ideal or dream without a second thought, so you could also say she's rather rash. Being confined to her family's house and gardens all her life has made her a thoughtful, but very naive soul with little knowledge of the outside world. She's highly imaginative and has spent countless hours designing maps of faraway places to amuse herself when not in the garden.
Some would say it's incredibly stupid for her to be willing to throw her life and safety away for such a silly dream, but Jaiyze is incredibly stubborn and refuses to let anything somebody days dissuade her. She can be a feisty, defiant little thing when she's not completely out of it.
She displays immaturity in the fact that she frequently behaves without thinking, or senselessly, and had lots of temper tantrums when she was little. Patience isn't her strong point if she's being challenged or provoked, but she can be remarkably nice and helpful to the timid and shy. It's mainly people like Kori she can't handle.
I wouldn't recommend attempting to guilt-trip Jaiyze, seeing as it doesn't work, and trying to tie her down with some kind of obligation or feeling of responsibility to get her to do what you want will only make her fight all the harder.

Kori is Jaiyze's older brother. He hides his ugly face behind a mask, and is always thought of as less than his sister because of his looks. Kori is insecure and confused, with a nasty shell on the outside. He's talented and artistic, and strives to prove his worth to the family, catching Jaiyze whenever she goes missing or runs off. Kori actually got his sister lost on purpose many times in their childhood just so he could bring her back and be rewarded. Jaiyze regards him with fear and disgust, though his travels helped inspire her passion for the ocean. Kori is incredibly powerful thanks to his weapon Charaku, which summons spirits to control and animate whatever image Kori draws with it.
Keyai is a reclusive, shy and cursed krawk that came out of his homeland to attend Shenkuu's Strawberry Festival and ran into Jaiyze in town. The poor krawk had no idea their meeting would lead to a run in with Kori, a fight and then his capture. He's very flustered by Jaiyze's presence, and she finds his behavior confusing, though harmless. Keyai has some hidden Shenkuu heritage, and during the fight with Kori two black wings manifested themselves on his back, something Kori and the draconians are very interested in....
Brochael is a quick fingered gypsy that has a habit of taking things that aren't hers. She behaves like an airhead, enjoying her past-time of dancing in midair and singing for invisible audiences. In reality, she's sneakier and smarter than she looks and enjoys bringing down the 'big people.' Only a girl with her guts (or maybe simply overconfidence) would dream of stealing something as powerful as Charaku...

Jaiyze was born into a draconian clan that lives in Shenkuu. Once wealthy and powerful, they've squandered their money and went from lords to simply a bunch of wealthy merchants. As a whole, they are beautiful, but terribly vain, shallow and judgmental. Jaiyze was prized by her family for her beauty, but her brother Kori was shunned for his ugly face.
Jaiyze was five years old when things started going wrong. Her power sometimes allowed her to hear and see things that she probably shouldn't have- and as a result she unearthed a family scandal in front of a neighbor completely by accident. Disgraced, her family became paranoid that Jaiyze would spill all of their secrets and kept her inside.
Jaiyze was prevented from leaving the house without their permission(which was rarely given) though Kori, in an attempt to make himself valuable would get her lost on purpose when they went outside and would then 'find' Jaiyze and bring her back. Her family also prevented Jaiyze from developing her power and receiving any magical schooling, which puts her health in jeopardy.
When Jaiyze was 12 years old she had one of her strongest visions during a heavy thunderstorm. It was a vision of the ocean- and Jaiyze, already influenced by Kori's travels, was captivated. It quickly turned into an obsession. Jaiyze's deepest wish is to go to the ocean, something her powers make difficult. Getting close to it could be fatal. Jaiyze didn't say a word to her family, and several years later finally managed to steal some money and pluck up the courage for her rash escape. She fled into the town and tried to blend in with the citizens during the Strawberry Festival, and ran into a krawk named Keyai. Kori, however, was hard on her heels and after a brief fight knocked both of them out and took them home to be locked up.
As of now Jaiyze and Keyai are wondering how they are ever going to escape...
The clouds were hesitant to give their burden, but the land strained for it.
A thick, green smell hung with the mist as every plant begged the sky shamelessly for rain. Drops fell here and there, some caressing a leaf or flower before falling yet again to the ground.
Jaiyze watched with the wide eyes of a child, swiveling her head every time a drop fell close to her.
Images spun in the corners of her eyes, strange odors rose up into her nose. Jaiyze twitched and turned, trying to catch them all. She splashed her hands in the puddles and one shuddered, but the other felt a softer texture, like petals caught in the stream trickling down the gutter.
Jaiyze leaned forward, all the smells of the garden were wafting up to her from the gutter, and she could hear the chirping of birds though they were all hidden in their nests. Somewhere a window creaked open, and a sharp, high pitched voice sent one of the dozing doves flying from it's haven.
Jaiyze! Jayize, darling, you can't play with puddles in the gutter! How many times must I tell you?!
Jayize froze for a second before immediately running around to the back of the house. There was the soft click of a door being closed, and the street was left to itself to collect rain.

.: 1 :. A Chance Meeting Becomes An Adventure
Keyai was dancing around a large plaza in Shenkuu. It was late afternoon, and it was one of Keyai's happiest days of his life, for this afternoon today, it marked the starting festival of strawberries. Many types of stalls and attractions filled up the plaza and little more of the roads in markets. People were swarming in from many directions to celebrate the strawberrie festival. Beautiful lanterns and asian garlands spider-webbed building to building. It was indeed a wonderful sight and a huge experience for Keyai to enjoy. For once he actually came out of his forest to join the festival. It was because of his curse that kept him in the forest, but Keyai was lucky enough to sell things and buy a decent seal that prevented his curse from activating temporarily for the day. According to the salesman, the seal would wear off once the moon shows up in the sky. Keyai took that warning well, and was paying attention to the sky more often rather than completely being carefree. He was that way for a while once he entered the festival, but once it began, he was up and nearly everywhere in the place, seeming to completely forget about the salesman's warning.
Jaiyze skipped happily throughout the various stalls, stopping to inspect almost every ware and basket of strawberries. Their delicious taste lingered in her mouth and she kept licking her lips as she frolicked about. It was such a relief to be out and away from the walls of her house, it would be some time before they noticed she was gone. Lights, lanterns and baubles were in every direction to fill the night with a myriad of bright spheres, she swirled in their glow, her silken kimono flowing around her like water. It had been so long since she'd actually been able to spend some time in town! Humming to herself, she twirled and spun yet again around another stall, quickly tossing a coin to the stall-keeper and selecting a few plump strawberries before continuing on her way. Unfortunately, as she turned a corner Jai ran smack into a krawk, and fell to the ground, stuttering out an apology.
I-I'm SO sorry! It was a complete accident, I'm very very sorry, would you like a strawberry?
Jai was quite embarrassed at the clumsiness her skipping had gotten her into.
Keyai was on the ground, now sitting up and rubbing his head from the dramatic slip he made.
Oooowwww---- Wai...
He blinked and stared down at the ground, raising his head to look up.
Ah- no- You don't need to be sorry for anything! I was the one who-
Once his eyes set on Jai, his whole world turned to a stop. Here he was, just dancing around with strawberries for once, and now he... he... Keyai felt something breeze through him. He stared at Jai for a long period of time, looking completely spaced out. She... is... so pretty.. His mind rang out to him, and then flooding his head with something completely unknown to him. It was sooner when Reality came to him, smacked him in the head, and brought him back to the world. Time revolved back around him- or so his mind thought- and Keyai jumped back up and ran for cover. He had never been this embarrased before in his life, especially this.. strange but sweet feeling. Keyai found the nearest box he could find, and ducked behind it to hide from the stranger who gave him the most awkward but greatest feeling her ever experienced. Keyai tried to ignore the huge amount of bouncing his heart was making. He.. really hated this feeling.
Jai blinked in utter confusion. Having spent most of her life literally caged in her family's home and garden, she was completely unaware of the effect she had on guys, and this was even beyond the norm. He was running- he was hiding behind a box? Why? Jai stood there for a moment, still confused. Did I do something wrong? she wondered.
Um, hi, I'm sorry?
Jai said sincerely, taking a few steps forward and peering around the box.
Did I say something? Was it something I did?
Jai bit her lip, thinking for a few moments. Well, there had to be a way to make him forgive her! What for she couldn't imagine, but nonetheless Jai set her basket of strawberries down close to the box before taking a few steps backwards.
You can have them... Uh, anyway, my name is Jai, if...you want me to leave I will,
she offered, feeling incredibly awkward. Did most people behave like this? She couldn't remember the last time she'd had a conversation with a total stranger, usually it was only family or close family friends. How strange her life must really be! Been, Jai automatically corrected herself. You're not going back, it's over, and the future is promising.
Keyai jumped out from his hiding box, feeling defeated by her kindness.
Ah- n-no.. y-you.. didnt... do.....anything wrong!
He struggled to speak, his voice shaking. Keyai did his best not to release the heat into his face. He could be immune to fire, but not THIS kind of fire. Why was this girl so strange to him? His mind wavered for a moment, shaken uncontrollably by a new and unknown feeling Keyai had gotten. He stepped back a little. 'What should I do?' 'I... can't.. stop thinking about her..' Keyai's mind was giving him too much questions to answer. He blushed shyly, now defeated by his body's temperature. Keyai felt embarrased of his appearance to her now. I must look so stupid... He carefully picked up the basket of strawberries and gave them back to Jai.
I... Don't.. .... you have them.
He said quickly, waiting for her to take it so he can run off again. Hopefully this time he would run away from this... really... good feeling..
Jai smiled as he stepped out of the box, good, so he wasn't mad at her! In fact, he was being rather nice, though he seemed afraid of something. What? Jai didn't see what there was to be afraid of in this lovely place. She raised an eyebrow questioningly as he handed the basket of strawberries to her.
Are you sure? I've already had a lot of them. And I probably shouldn't have bought, them, I don't need them. It's not like I'll be taking them home...
Jai's voice trailed off, she was silent for a moment before continuing in a perkier manner.
But anyway! I think you should keep them, you know. What's your name? I don't know anybody here! I haven't been in the town in years-
Jai stopped suddenly as she realized how talkative she was getting, and then stopped, biting her lip again.
Uhh..... Well... I already have.. a lot of strawberries, you see... I sorta... plant them so.. HERE.
He shoved the basket at Jai, and swerved around to face the opposite direction. Now was his chance! Keyai dashed forward, making his escape in a random direction. All was going well until he tripped over a heavy box at lightning speed and then crash landed into a stall.
Jai stumbled backwards as the basket was shoved into her hands, almost tripping over her kimono. As she watched Keyai dash down the alley at lightning speed realization suddenly dawned on Jai and the basket dropped from her hands. He was scared of HER! But why?! Jai suddenly felt immensely guilty, and even more so as she bent down to pick up the strawberries and then heard a tremendous CRASH! The stall-keeper was already beginning to yell at Keyai, his face red with anger. Jai began to run down towards them, and immediately began gesturing and speaking to the shopkeeper. It only took her a few sincere apologies, stumbled exclamations and that pleading look in her eyes before his face softened and he turned away back to his stall. All was forgiven. But why is he afraid of me?! wondered Jai frantically. I DID do something wrong- I knew it! Or....what if he was new to the area too? She had been a little scared too, coming out of her house into town.
Keyai quickly recovered himself, getting back onto his feet. He turned to look back at Jai, and then at himself. He was covered in strawberries. Keyai's heart sank. He looked even more ridiculous, and its even worse than last time! His face burst red, and he took off into the nearest alley.
AUGH! I'M SORRY! Don't run!
explained Jai with a dismayed visage as she sprinted after him. She was rather slow compared to Keyai, however, despite her long legs, and couldn't catch up. The alleys made a formidable maze, where was he?! Jai had quickly lost sight of him, and with something between a huff and a sigh she stopped to catch her breathe. The sun was just beginning to set, and she looked upwards at it for a few moments before her ears twitched. There was a sound coming from an alley nearby, was that the one he'd gone down?! Jai quickly ran around another corner down yet another alley, hoping to find Keyai.
Keyai reached a dead end. He glanced around, frantically for a place to hide. It took a few moments before he settled down at a corner and thought this over. Okay, so maybe the girl stopped coming after him. Hopefully.....
Jai finally paused, out of breathe(she wasn't very in shape) and gasped as she leaned against a wall. Where had he gone?! She was utterly baffled, and about to give up when suddenly one of the gutters above let a few drops of water fall on her head in a tiny stream. Immediately she smelled the dingy scent of the alleys, but stronger, and a hazy vision danced before her of first the gutter itself, and then an alley with a decrepit fountain at the end. Sulking in a corners was....that krawk! Jai looked around her, shaking the water out of her hair, and smiled up at the gutter gratefully before sprinting down the next alley. There was the fountain- and there he was!
Please don't run away!
Jai pleaded, running down the alley as quickly as she could. She felt so guilty, but she had to know what...why...why would he run!? Jai's face reflected her utter confusion.
Keyai dared to turn around. Oh great... He kept himself staring at the wall. Don't look, she's not there... She's not... He turned his head around to face Jai, and was shocked again by her appearance. Keyai opened his mouth to speak, but his voice was interupted by a sudden snap. It was like lightning, only smaller and heard only in the alley. Keyai jumped out in surprise. He began glancing around for the origin of the sound until he realized there were broken and fading symbols escaping his seal. Oh no. His face was in extreme shock. He was too busy worrying about his strange feeling with this girl, and he had not noticed the time even once! Now the seal was broken, and he was vulnerable to his curse once again. Keyai half panicked, and jumped at Jai, shoving her away.
AWAY! NOW!
He shouted, desperately trying to get her to move away from him. If she is in his way now, her life would be in danger. Keyai could not risk having another innocent one become a victim of his terrible curse.
Jai stared back, trying to figure out the emotions in his face. Shock was the only thing she could identify, and then immediate fear. There was a snap- and Jai looked with curiosity and some strange object with marks on it. She opened her mouth to ask what it was, too curious to even consider it might be dangerous, and immediately stumbled backwards as he PUSHED her!
What did you do that for?
Jai asked angrily, an eyebrow raised in confusion. Jai took a few steps backwards, but was reluctant to leave. Something was wrong, but why should she turn and run just because he told her to? The stubborn voice in her head put it's foot down, and Jai held her ground.
I'm... CURSED!
He cried out, now moving her further away. Keyai felt the dark and strange feeling sparking up in his conscience. His curse was acting up, now trying to take over him again. Pain ached his head. Keyai cried out and gave a final shove to Jai before running torwards the end of the ally, searching for an escape route. Why now? Why curse, why now? His mind was confusing him now, and in a matter of seconds his other conscience took over. His curse. Keyai stopped at that moment, his eye's iris turning to midnight black and his pupils becoming red. The krawk gave a creepy grin, and howled into laughter. Again, his curse had successfully took him over. He turned to face Jai, his invisible aura now dark and his murderous face clearly visible. The krawk charged forward.
Jai's eyes suddenly widened in shock, and she began to run, stumbling down the alleyway. She tripped and stumbled over a few bottoms, the clanging noises they made were almost as loud as the beating of her heart. Howling echoed behind her, and the hair stood up on the back of her neck. Jai turned around to see a sight that made her skin crawl. Too terrified to even scream, she sprinted away as fast as she could, huffing and puffing and cursing her weak legs.
Unfortunately, Keyai was too fast for Jai. In seconds he ran right up to her and lunged onto her back, slashing insanely at whatever flesh he could get his claws on. He was only 2 seconds into slashing her before he stopped to a sudden tune of a flute. Keyai froze. From straight above on a roof was Kori, the masked and nicknamed 'singing flower.' His face was covered by a decorative mask, and only his hair was as visible. Interruption. Must. Kill. Keyai stared up at the mysterious and sudden appearance of the figure, becoming enraged of knowing the fact that he can't enjoy slicing Jai to bits. Despite Kori's appearance, Keyai continued slashing at Jai, trying to savor each second if he can before he would have to face this mysterious person. He didn't get so far into continuation of attacking Jai either, for after the few seconds he laid his claws on Jai the second time, he was rewarded a powerful kick from Kori that sent him flying across the alley.
White fire laced across her back and Jai went down with a scream, feebly trying to kick Keyai, but unable to stop him. There was no water to summon, she was utterly helpless. STOP! she screamed, and then she stiffened as she heard the sound of a flute. All her hopes and dreams rose and crumbled at the same time. Kori would save her- but he would take her home. Defeated and trapped, Jai began to cry silently, and stared at her brother with a blank face covered with tears.
Kori stared down at Jai for a few moments, before drawing out the sacred sword Charaku. He gave a few quick strokes, drawing a chinese lion scribble in mid-air. At once, a spirit possessed it, and it came to life. Kori commanded it to attack Keyai, and then he stared back down at Jai. You fool, you can never escape. He spat. Look at what you've gotten into- you almost get killed! Besides, it's better if you stay home, dear little sister. He prodded her head with his foot, and moved to pick her up. Keyai was being tossed back and forth by the lion. The ink lion had high advantage over him, and it had inflicted unbelievable damage to him in so little time. Never before in his life had his curse been played around like it was a joke. Keyai was wounded from head to feet, and he was near at
a point where he may not remain standing. He tried to attack, but his damage was nothing to the lion- just a breeze- and then the lion would just slam him down with tremendous force that threatened to break his bones. Keyai was losing, and he was losing so fast even his curse could not help but feel desperate. After what seemed to be the 12th hit, Keyai's curse gave in, and the krawk collasped to a point where he may not remain standing. He tried to attack, but his damage was nothing to the lion- just a breeze- and then the lion would just slam him down with tremendous force that threatened to break his bones. Keyai was losing, and he was losing so fast even his curse could not help but feel desperate. After what seemed to be the 13th hit, Keyai's curse gave in, and the krawk collapsed to the floor, defeated by the lion. His curse dispatched and then hid away. Now Keyai felt all the pain his curse had taken to his body. Seeing Keyai down, the ink lion gave a roar of victory, its entire body of strokes being swept away by the wind. Kori had lifted up Jai onto his back. Don't underestimate me, Jai. He said coldly, withdrawing Charaku. You can never run away from me. Ever.
Jai watched Keyai's destruction with utter horror. She'd never seen something so gory before, and Jai couldn't stop watching, but her eyes were the size of dinner plates and her face was creased with pain. Jai didn't know what she feared more, her brother's lion or the cursed Keyai. With an ashen face Jai slowly turned and faced her brother, shaking slightly. YOU'LL HAVE TO KILL ME BEFORE I GO HOME WITH YOU! she exploded, a lifetime of pent up frustration echoing in her voice. I'm NOT going back, you'll have to FORCE ME. And go on, I'm sure you will, as mercilessly as you did to him. Jai snarled, pointing at Keyai's body.
Tears still streaked her face, but she stared Kori straight into the eyes with defiance, doing her best to mask the fear. She was dying to scream the words on her tongue that told of her desperate dream, and how she'd never let him get in her way, but Jai was positive the more Kori knew the more he'd get in her way. By now she was enraged to the point where water from the sewers slowly began to trickle up through the gutter, running through cracks in the stones to the alley the three were in.
Keyai slowly began to stand up, his eyes staring at Kori with hints of rage. How strong could he be? And he seems to be torturing that draik..... The krawk struggled to keep himself up. Kori shrugged. Good idea, little sister. They will never know what hit you- especially when I can frame that weakling over there. He threw her down onto the alley's ground and withdrew his sword. Now I can have a chance to spend my anger out on you- hahaha! Kori began drawing his next creature- this time, a chimera. It only took him several seconds to complete the stroke creature, and the next seconds for it to come alive. "Damage her, but don't kill her." Kori instructed the ink chimera, before stepping back to enjoy the fight. The chimera screeched in delight, and jumped at Jai, its claws coming straight towards her like huge knives. Keyai used the last of his strength to jump out towards the distressed draik. Something strange happened at that moment. The chimera's claws clashed with an invisible force once Keyai was in the range of its claws. White cracks formed in the air around the invisible cursed barrier that surrounded Keyai. The invisible cursed barrier broke, and sent invisible broken chains flying into the air. The chimera was blown away by the force. The curse's barrier that cloaked Keyai's hidden wings were now broken to the power of Charaku. A pair of huge midnight black butterfly wings regained their status on his shoulder to his back, both sides with golden engraved draconian markings that resembled the black winged clan. Keyai blacked out after the break, and collapsed before Jai.
Jai gasped in utter anger and shock, horrified that her brother would want to frame an innocent krawk, and drew herself up as tall as she could, only to shrink back in fear and shock as he drew the Chimera. Every muscle stiffened, and her blood froze in her veins. She couldn't move, frozen to the spot in horror and suppressing the urge to vomit, so strong was her disgust. Jaiyze didn't even move as the chimera came at her, knowing it was hopeless. She stared into it's eyes blankly, with a kind of numb despair.
There was a sound like thunder- white laced the air and the world splintered into pieces. Jai blinked, stunned, and saw the action unfold in slow motion. Her eyes widened as she turned towards Keyai, and watched two wings unfold before he fell....
Everything seemed to go silent. Jaiyze slowly turned, marveling at the will of a stranger to sacrifice for another, and stared at Kori with absolute detestation and fear. You're horrible. she spat, and the water began to fly upwards, twining itself around Jaiyze and Keyai's body. Jaiyze swayed slightly as data from the water began to overload her senses, and did her best to beat it back. The tendrils of water swayed uncertainly, weaving themselves into a large pillar.
You're still going to go up against me?" Kori sneered. "You may have power, but not enough to take me down... And I'm not going to let a miracle happen!" He withdrew Charaku and began drawing his next creature. Again, he slashed strokes of ink in the middle of the air with the sacred katana in lightning speed. He stopped once the artwork resembled the body and head of an oriental dragon. In an instant after its completion, the dragon was taken over by a nearby spirit and came to life. Kori pointed Charaku's edge at the two. Knock her out, dear friend. He commanded. Have no mercy if she resists, but don't kill her. The ink dragon reared its head in obedience, and then flung itself at Jai at max speed.
Jaiyze bit her lip, knowing there wasn't a way to win. She watched the dragon form with dread, and the water gathered around her protectively. Shaking, she raised her hands to form a shield as the water surged around her to form a strange whirlpool shape. The second Kori's ink dragon touched it, her power began to slip and collapse. Jaiyze's eyes narrowed as she struggled to keep control, but she fell to her knees as it finally broke through. Water flew everywhere, flooding the alley for a split second before escaping the last constrains of her power and evaporating into thin air. Jaiyze's clothing hung around her, damp, as she tried to clamber to her feet in a feeble attempt to escape. She turned her head to stare at the dragon for a split second in utter horror.
The dragon was unaffected. It arose out of the dying water, and roared at Jai. Kori laughed at Jai's failed attempt. I told you. You should have stayed home, Jai, but no, of course you did not listen. He crossed his arms. Too bad. The ink dragon shot like a missle at her. It slammed straight into her with its head, and smashed her lightly onto the ground.
Jaiyze didn't even make a sound as the dragon smashed into her, her eyes widened as she fell with a thud! onto the ground. Her head bounced with the recoil of the impact, and everything went black. Jaiyze's body lay there, crumpled and unconscious, looking just like a doll. The last few drops of water trickled out of her hair into a crack in the dirt before evaporating with the rest as her clothes dried too.
Command fufiled, the ink dragon's body and head dispatched and fluttered away as black rose petals into the night. Kori thanked both spirits quietly. He hid away Charaku into its shealth while walking towards the two. Foolish, foolish sister and the black winged. They both underestimated him; his sister had done it again. He picked Keyai and Jai up under his arms, holding them like rice barrels. Once they were secure under his grip, Kori ran off towards the draconian palace of the west clan.
Pain was the first thing she noticed, her whole side throbbed with it. Jaiyze cracked an eye open, seeing only blurs. It was dim, she knew that much, and she could hardly hear anything. She outstretched her hand carefully and touched a cold. metal bar. Carefully Jaiyze struggled to get up, and winced sharply as she pulled herself into a sitting position. Finally, her vision returned with crystal clarity, or as crystal as a dingy cell could get. Drat, she mused, they put me in the basement! Letting out a sigh, Jaiyze leaned against the bars and wondered why any family, let alone hers, would have a cell in their basement. She froze abruptly as she remembered something, the krawk! What had happened to them? Turning around, Jaiyze realized he was in the cell as well. Thank god Kori hadn't killed him, or something equally atrocious.
Keyai was already awake. The krawk was facing the wall, his back turned on Jai, appearing to be thinking hard of something. He tried to ignore his aching body parts while staying away from Jai if possible. He recalled what had just happened. Okay, so he went to the festival. He met this really strange girl in whom he can't stop thinking of, and then he got beaten up for who knows how. Now his shoulders were acting funny as if something came out of them, and he's in the same cell as the girl. Oh, how he freaked out when he woke up discovering they were in the same cell. Keyai rubbed his head. Now how was he going to get out of this mess? He groaned. Maybe I shouldn't have gone out anyways.. He grumbled.
Jaiyze cocked her head to the side, and immediately felt guilty. I-I'm so sorry! You shouldn't even be in here, it's...my brother Kori, I should have stayed away from you. Then neither of us would be in this mess....I just thought, maybe, I could escape, it was stupid... Remembering her manners, Jaiyze broke off her fragmented rambling and sat up straight. Oh, sorry! I don't even know your name. I'm Jaiyze. I'd say it's nice to meet you but I don't think that being in a cell is something you find....pleasant. Why was this so awkward? But still, it had been ages since she talked to somebody outside the family.
Her voice startled him. Keyai raised his head and turned to her. O-oh.. Its fine, really. Its just my fault that I'm here by my fault uhh-- you know. He replied, his tone hinting little nervousness. T-thats a nice name- I'm Keyai- err..... why yes, its weird since its my first time being in a cell- His voice rushed at the end, and Keyai noticed it. The krawk swung his head back to face the wall in embarrasment. She sounded so nice. It felt so weird to talk to a girl.
Jaiyze nodded at him. Keyai... she mused. Jaiyze leaned back against the cell wall with a sigh. Naw, I don't see how it could be your fault. I've been locked up a few times, but never for running away and never down here. Jaiyze looked down the lonely hallway and the stairs at the end of the basement. You wouldn't happen to be good at breaking out of cells, would you? She tapped the bars lightly, frowning. I wish I could actually use my power....that would be helpful.
Keyai remembered the times when he passed by cells as a kid. Back in his old village, they used cells to cage up criminals or bad people. His friends and him used to play police and robberies sometimes. Of course, there was always a guard at the cell holding a key. Keyai turned himself around to face Jai. I've played it before with my friends in my childhood- though I'm not sure if it would work now. He crawled to the bars and studied the surroundings outside. There were few other cells, but they were empty. No guard. The room was pretty small, and some lanterns lit it up nicely. A table stood at the side of the room, and behind it was a rack that was probably used as a coat hanger or key placing. To Keyai's disapointment, the keys weren't there. Have any plans? He asked.
Jaiyze shook her head. Not a single idea. Ugh, this is so FRUSTRATING. She banged her head against the bars, eyes narrowing. Even if we get out, Kori can just throw us back in here. I don't think we can do anything. I don't know where he is now, but he almost never leaves the house. I wish he never got that stupid sword. There's no way I can win as long as he has it. Jaiyze folded her arms and huffed.

Poems, or short stories that are irrelevant to Jaiyze's backstory.
The Turning Point
Live your life in a cell
air conditioned, with running water
I'm meant to be a 'never do well
Every drip of the faucet reminds me
of all I'm missing
Call it home, I call it jail
I'd trade places with anyone
If it didn't defeat the purpose
I'm gonna get living
My own interpretation
Of who I am, why I'm here
Leave expectations, leave the fear
If I'm gonna die I'll die how I want to
On the hand of a beautiful dream
I know I've seen a vision
I'm trading it for you
Don't worry, now we've even
For what you didn't do
I sing this with sincerity
I really wish you well
But goodbye Mother
Goodbye Father
I'm leaving your dreams
For the prospect of another
Dreaming (again)
Raindrops filling up my eyes
Raindrops beating in my ear
Raindrops sliding down my tongue
Raindrops resting on my skin
Raindrops falling through my hands
There was an old dream
To get out, get in, get free
But I never knew it's existence
Never realized it until just now
There was a vision yesterday
White sand, white foam, white birds
Now one with holds the truth
Of a million heartfelt words

Love...? That's a powerful word. As of now I don't feel that way about anyone...but could there be somebody out there, for me?
What a strange and beautiful thought.

Hey, look! They come with lanterns!
First off, you may display these off-site, AS LONG AS you keep my name on and link back to this page. Obviously stealing/removing my name/editing/editing one for somebody else/taking one that isn't yours is a no.
I will never do normal colors, I consider it a waste of time and only make adoptables for custom designs as a rule, however if you want a trade/request and your design is a basic draik color, or it just with a very simple change then I'll still do one, it will just have your name on it so other people can't steal it and use it as a normal draik adoptable. ;3
I can draik-ify krawks, techos, scorchios, etc.
Don't forget to check the status

Much love to all of those who have written or drawn for Jaiyze. I greatly appreciate it.
The water has memories;
She is able to read
The water has words;
She is able to hear
The water has emotions;
She is able to feel
The water tells stories;
She is able to listen
The water has history;
She is able to learn
The water keeps secrets;
And Jaiyze holds the key

Music is incredibly important to me, as you might be able to tell since almost every orange header on this application is a lyric from a song. This is a list of songs that remind me strongly of Jaiyze, and I listened to them constantly while working on this application.
The Garden Of Everything by Steve Conte and Mayaa Sakamoto
Cloud 9 by Mayaa Sakamoto and Yoko Kanno
Drive by Incubus
Let Go by Frou Frou
Don't Panic by Coldplay
Tell Me What The Rain Knows by Mayaa Sakamoto
Morning Glow from Final Fantasy
Feel from Final Fantasy
Cloe by Yoko Kanno
Didn't It Rain by Yoko Kanno
Mayaa Sakamoto has a lot of songs here because when I imagine Jaiyze speaking, Mayaa's voice is what Jaiyze sounds like.
Here you are
Daylight Star
Made out of miracles
Perfection of your own
You alone
Oh so incredible
Each atom sings to me
Set me free
From chains of the physical
Oh free me
Oh free me
The mirror melts
Somewhere else
Inside eternity
Where you, on outstretched wings,
Sing within
The garden of everything
Where memories call to me
Backward dreams
Or phantom reality
Call to me
Call to me
So here we are lovers of lost dimensions
Itsuka hi no kaze ni noote haruka tooi
Burning supernovas, of all sound and sight
hayaka no koto e
Every touch, a temptation
Itsuku sora hitotsu michimono hi Wataateyukeyu
And for every sense, a sensation
hanateta koto e
Eyes of pure
Deep azure
Quite unbelievable
Sun's daughter, you've been made
Not to fade
Quite inconceivable
Each atom sings to me
Set me free
From chains of the physical
Oh free me
Oh free me
A love like ours
A starry flower
Through seasons and centuries
As rivers reach the sea
You reach me
With songs of your symmetry
A small boat, there will float
To far off coasts
The Isle of Infinity
Come with me
Come with me
Come with me
Here we'll see
Love's lost tree
Made out of miracles
Emotions, crystal leaves
To cover me,
And you in eternity
Each atom sings to us
Through the blood
Love is a miracle
Sing softly
Sing softly
Sing softly
Sing softly
So here we are lovers of lost dimensions
Itsuka hi no kaze ni noote haruka tooi
Burning supernovas, of all sound and sight
hayaka no koto e
Every touch , a temptation
Itsuku sora hitotsu michimono hi Wataateyukeyu
And for every sense, a sensation
hanateta koto e
So here we are twin stars, brilliant brightness
Itsuka hi no kaze ni noote haruka tooi
Lanterns lit by life for all the depths of night
hayaka no koto e
And every day will return us
Itsuku sora hitotsu michimono hi Wataateyukeyu
To arms of the ever eternal
hanateta koto e
So here we are, so far from earthly orbits
Itsuka hi no kaze ni noote haruka tooi
So here we are
Burning supernovas, of all sound and sight
hayaka no koto e
Where every day will return us
Itsuku sora hitotsu michimono hi Wataateyukeyu
Every day will return us...
To arms of the ever eternal
hanateta koto e
Here we are...
Here we are...
Lovers of lost dimensions
Where every day will return us
To arms of the ever eternal

Link trade. Do it. I don't bite.

This is a word of thanks, there are some people that I am definitely obligated to recognize, we are only as strong as the people supporting us.
First of all, Kai. There is no way I could have done this without you. You've helped shape a huge amount of Jaiyze's backstory with her brother, Kori, and you're shaping as future as well in our current plot. Nothing builds up a character like roleplay, Jaiyze and I are both in debt to you, Kori and Keyai. *loves upon* There is a whole realm of excitement and possibilities for Jaiyze in the future, and thanks to you I know that there is no way she will ever rot.
Kale, oh my god, Kale. Thank you so much for helping me out with the layout. You not only taught me how CSS and a layout is meant to work, you helped with my glitches and general coding stupidity. You even trimmed the header! This application wouldn't look spiffy without ya~
Teknicolored! Thank you so much for re-saving my dividers as pngs, I really appreciate it. C:
Gudny, thank you for suggesting the music site I used to host this petpage music~ ^w^!
HAN. Girl, thanks for being my first fanarter. You're so supportive! TTwTT *glomps*
