|So What is Grant a Pet?| Grant a pet, known as G.A.P. was founded by the lovely Queen_of_Tigers , also known as Box. With the help of several other people including Spidey (spidey_gurl), Emerald (Dyov), Captain (neospace_captain), Amanda (snorlax_rocks), Socks (zbankz), and Chris (alvera200).
|In the beginning|
Originally G.A.P. was founded on dreams of an organization of people who'd happily grant other neopian's wishes of their dream pets. Our mission statement was to one day grant numerous wishes of thousands of neopians. G.A.P. stood a small group of people against an organization/guild that was already in place. With strong hearts and hopes G.A.P. slowly turned into a guild. As it grew in numbers the guild exploded happily with many generous neopians and the people they hoped to help. Eventually the guild grew too big and is now private. It is now what neopians see today- a prosperous and thriving friendly guild.
So now that the guild is private, it naturally takes an invitation to get into G.A.P.'s guild. But first things first...
|Do you have to be in the guild to be apart of G.A.P.?|
While it is a great way to stay involved- you do NOT have to be apart of the guild to be apart of Grant a Pet. You can choose to either be a Zapper or a Wisher. There are a few of our members who happen to be both- but generally people branch off to one or the other. (: So what are zappers and wishers?
|Zappers|
Zappers are the backbone, the heart and the brain of our organization. They are the kind-hearted souls who take the use of their Lab Map and zap neopets that they foster until it turns into a nice color. Once a nice color is received from the lab the zapper goes to the Wishers page. If there is someone on the list then the zapper neomails that person and arranges a time to transfer the dream pet to them. Once completed, it's what we call a granted wish. It is the pride of all G.A.P. zappers to grant wishes. If that specific pet isn't what anyone is looking for- then the zapper can choose to either adopt the pet out, keep it, or heck, do anything they want. It's their pet after all. A list of zappers can be found here. (page made by emerald). There you find links to the various and numerous zappers that G.A.P. has. Please take care not to harass the zappers. If they have a pet you want, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's a pet they're looking to give. If you have a wish then please put yourself on the wishers page (which we'll talk about later.) |Want to be a Zapper?|
Fantastic! You're probably thinking- "what can I get out of being a zapper?" Well- G.A.P. is a non profit organization on neopia who's sole purpose is to grant dream pets. So naturally it can be said that no items or neopoints can be given to you in exchange for your pet. Which in itself is illegal and against terms and conditions. Tips are also not allowed. We work as honorable people who are just happy to see (hear) that great smile. But you do get that satisfaction of your fellow neopian, the recognition of all of G.A.P. and neopia and of course a cute little button to put somewhere on your neopets lookup. When you grant a wish you can collect a cute little button from here. And your succession would be posted on our Happily Ever After page which is here.
So now I'm sure you want to know how to be a zapper? Well, whither you're in the guild or not: simply neomail Emerald with your request. To make her job easier when neomailing her please include the following:
.Your Name (alias)
.Your username you wish to be linked to
.And an item you'd like to be represented as

So even with all the vital organs, without the wishers, zappers would just be a pile of squishy organs. The wishers of G.A.P. are the vital blood and skin of our organization. Roping everything together. Without wishers, the good folks of G.A.P. would have no wishes to grant and thus no purpose to zap. Wishers keep the guild and organization going for a brighter future. So what are Wishers? They're the ones to send in their dream pet (two at the most) and hope, and some time: are eventually granted their pet thanks to our zappers. They're your fellow neopians with a dream.

Q: Do you have to be in the guild to be a wisher?
A: As said before: not at all! But it is appreciated. (:
Q: Can I wish for any pet?
A: While it is extremely unlikely that you could be granted a non lab color, it is possible. It is your dream pet after all, there are no restrictions on what you can wish for. We do ask for a reasonable number (up to two) wishes.
Q: What if people just trade their "dream" pet away?
A: Zappers use their best judgment when giving out their pet. And as a wisher we ask that you are respectable to the zappers and G.A.P. itself. Don't make a wish if you plan to trade the pet away. We aren't here as a trading post, we're here as a beacon of hope.
Q: Do I have to wish in extreme detail?
A: While it's recommended, you can wish for a certain color (with any species) or a certain species (with any color). Ect. You can also request "Well Named" or not choose any of those and as for a Battledome pet. Do not abuse our system though. If it is found out that you're trying to make tens upon tens of wishes for your gain then you will be found out and reported.

Perhaps the most important piece of our organization: the guild.
That link not working? Of course not! You aren't a member yet! But before you find out how to become a member, wouldn't you like to know what you'll experience being a member? If you don't want to hear more babbling then yeah- go ahead and skip down past all the next paragraphs. But if you want to hear the perks, keep reading!

What would a guild be if it's members weren't close? At G.A.P. guild you'll make tons of friends who all share the same interests as you.

That's right! You're bound to find someone who shares the same interests as you. As an example G.A.P. has various Book Clubs that all members can participate in. From the famous series Twilight, to Artemis Fowl. You're also free to suggest books of other natures.
There are many of our members who are artists. For example: I myself am Emeraldbird on DA. We also have a variety of members with Roleplay experience.
In addition, for all you avatar collectors out there: we have a few members who are kind enough to help you out when it comes to getting necessary items for certain avatars. Mind you for more expensive items/pets you'll have to pull your weight and then some in the guild for quite a while.

Alright. So you want to know how to join. Well, as I've stated before: G.A.P. is a private guild. So you have to be invited. We at G.A.P. wish to have active and friendly members, and thus we also ask for you to fill out a form.
