Fantastic...just fantastic. You ignored the tour guide, you laughed at your pets' pleas to return to the main path, and insisted that you knew a shortcut to the carnival of terror. Really good. Aren't you glad you didn't bring that map of the Haunted Woods now? You're lost! Yup, you've wandered out of the tourist areas of the Woods and now you've got no idea where you are. But hey, you're safe right?
Wrong! A Werelupe bounds out of nowhere and knocks you over, howling wildly into the night. She doesn't linger, though, and rather than rip you to shreds, she tears off into the night, leaving you staring up at a rather odd sign. You stand, shaking, to read it, but find it so weathered that the only word you can decipher is Haunted, how odd. A woman appears by your side as you're still squinting curiously at the sign. You are most welcome, honoured guest, to Haunted, a directory of Neopia's Spookiest Denizens. I am Witchy, and I will be your guide this evening...-she smirks- I highly suggest you not ignore me.

Haunted is hosted by a fantastic Draik by the name of Tilluwen. He currently resides in the Witch mansion on the outskirts of the Haunted Woods with his rather large family (many of them listed here). He has two blood-siblings, Tathian and Wenifride, who live with him as well. He spends most of his time reading.

Here at Haunted, we would really just love to fill the graveyard with the names of many spooky pets, so please, don't be afraid to submit more than one spooky pet. We are always happy to add another spook to the directory, and Witchy doesn't bite (even if some of her pets do), so don't be shy! And of course, we would much appreciate our current residents adding a button to their lookups or pet pages...show your spooky pride!

Yes, yes, even spooky pets deserve their fifteen minutes of fame (or in this case, a month). We feature a new Spooky each month, with a short paragraph about them from their owners. There are no prizes other than having your pet featured in the directory, and of course...bragging rights. If you'd like your pet featured here, please neomail me the name of your pet, along with a short paragraph about your pet. I haven't decided how I'll judge yet, so give me time to figure that out.
Our current featured pet is my...er..."darling" Krawk, Trouro.

The Spooks |

Witchy gestures to a wide expanse of the graveyard, dotted with hundreds upon thousands of tombstones. This is where our...ah...residents make their mark, firmly setting themselves in the Haunted Woods' spookiest tourist attraction. Our residents' stones are divided by species and then colour. To be taken directly to a particular species, simply place your hand on one of the stones below (click the links).

July 3 '09 -- Once again I fell behind on updates, so if your pet didn't get added in this last batch--my apologies, please resend your submissions! My inbox got cleared at least once so I don't believe I got everyone. I've added the new Zombie Acaras as well, but if I'm missing any new colour releases please drop me a line! Thanks all for making Haunted such a great place for spooks!!
May 16 '09 -- Well I've been working ever since the initial opening of Haunted at keeping the directory updated with new Haunted pets regularly, however I fell behind for a month or so, so if anyone sent in their submissions and didn't get a neomail back by today, please resend your submissions! My neomail box got cleared of some old neomails, I believe, and I can't find all my submissions! I did add quite a few spookies today, though, so feel free to browse! I also got all those crazy cogs cleared up so we have pretty pictures of our pets again! :P
Sept. 18 '08 -- Wow! What a busy day it's been. I advertised Haunted on the Charter boards to much success. It appears that some people cannot see my affiliates and buttons, so for buttons, please visit Trouro's Pet Page for the buttons right now if you can't see them. Affiliates and buttons are located underneath this news section, in case you're passing it up. -grins- Lots of pets and petpets added. Soon I will begin work on a separate petpet directory as well as a Haunted Woods info page...so keep checking back for updates!
Sept. 17 '08 -- Third news entry! After today you'll start seeing old news entries being deleted...I want no more than three listed at a time, so old entries will be deleted for new entries. The page appears pretty much done! If you've got any additions, corrections, etc. please, by all means, neomail me! I still need a correction for the Mutant Peophin image, so if you have a Mutant Peo and can send me a link to the 80x80 image, I would be OH so grateful! The page will be released to the public soon...probably today. -grin-
Sept. 16 '08 -- Second news entry! As you can see, I've moved the News box down to make room for a featured pet. I've decided that the Haunted avvies and Spooky Gourmet, along with bios/info on Haunted Woods denizens and the places there are going to go on a separate pet page, which will be linked here. I want this page to focus on the pets and petpets, rather than the Haunted Woods itself. So I will be adding a bit more content, and then start on the second page. I may release this page before I finish the HW page...just because that's a lot of work to get done in a short amount of time. :P Wish me luck! Update Edit: LOTS has happened...I'll put it in tomorrow's news post. XD

Any colour in Neopia can be considered Spooky, but there are few that really define what is truly Haunted. That being said, there are a few colours that hover over the line of Spooky and something else, and we would like to honour them here, even though we can't list them here.

Shadow: Shadow pets are magnificent and mysterious. Many of them could be considered Spookies, but unfortunately we couldn't list them due to the fact that their colour is much too versatile. For those pets that walk in the shadows with the grand Shadow Usul, though, we tribute you! |

Darigan: Darigan pets were one of the hardest not to add to the directory, but in the end I decided against it. Darigans can very much be considered Spooky, but in my own mind I see them as more "Evil-ish" than Spooky. So our hats and heads off to you, Darigans! |

Snot: Just ask anyone with allergies or a cold and they'll tell you...mucus is evil. -grin- And while Meuka prooves that snot can be Spooky, I had to make a call, and unfortunately Snots just couldn't be added. But we love you, Snot pets, and we offer a non-tissue-lined handshake to you! |

Haunted Petpets |

Here at Haunted we honour all that is Spooky, and just because there are creatures that have not attained the full-fledged status of Neopet does not mean that they should be any less recognised. And so, we bring to you, the directory for our ghosts' and ghouls' best friends...Spooky, a directory of Neopia's Spookiest Miniature-Members.
Unfortunately, there are simply FAR too many petpets for us to list all of the Spookies, so only pets that come from the Haunted Woods petpet shop can join right now. Any colour can be submitted, as long as the petpet is one of the following species. Petpets that have been labbed are also permissable, as long as they are no longer being labbed. Neomail Witchy if you want your petpet added! |

Getting Haunted |

Before you take your leave of us, perhaps you'd like to entertain the idea of bringing a Spooky pet into your home, or perhaps turning one of your existing pets into a Haunted horror. Well, we've got some tips and facts for you so you'll know just how to do that.

Painting: For Halloween, Ghost, and Zombie varieties, the simplest and "quickest" way to achieve a Haunted look is to paint a pet with an appropriate paint brush. Paint brush prices fluctuate, however, so this may not be the cheapest route to a Spooky. |

Morphing: Morphing is another simple, straight-forward way to get your pet that Spooky look you desire. Potions have a great range in price, from ten-thousand to several million, depending on pet, colour, and item rarity. Transmogrification Potions are unique in that they give your pet a colour only available from the potion itself: mutant! So if you're looking for a mutant pet, you'll need to pick up a Transmogrification Potion of that pet's species. You will also get the Mutant JubJub avatar by using any Transmogrification Potion on your pet. Here are a few examples of different potions. |

Lab Ray: The lab ray is a very popular way to get many different colours, including Halloween, Ghost, Mutant, and Zombie. All four colours are available via lab ray, and considering the hefty price attached to the Zombie Paint Brush, it is the most popular way to achieve that corpse-like colour. The lab ray is only open to those who complete a set of the Secret Laboratory Map. There are nine pieces total, and each piece is an item--which means they can be stolen via random event, so it's best to keep them in your SDB until you've got the full set. Once you've obtained a full set, simply visit the treasure map page and submit your completed map, and you will be given lab map access. |

Fountain Faerie: A Fountain Faerie Quest, also known as FFQ, is a rare and coveted thing. If you are lucky enough to be visited by the Fountain Faerie and complete her quest, she will allow you to paint your pet almost any colour possible in the game, including Halloween, Ghost, Mutant, and Zombie. To get such a quest is extremely rare, though, and be absolutely certain of your choice, you may never get another! You will also not get the Mutant JubJub avatar from painting your pet Mutant with an FFQ. |
