Here I am.

You've found yourself caught in a current...a current that's grip has you spiraling to what you know could be death. You don't know how you've gotten into the water...maybe a fall off of the dock. No, the water here was much too strong to be located near any beaches. Perahps you fell off a boat on it's way overseas? The rocks are razor sharp, and as hard as...well, rocks. Your lungs feel near exploding. You're so panicked that your heart beats up against the inside of your ribs, your vision swirling until the watery world you're drowning in dances before your eyes in red and black.

And then...

...breath.

Sweet, slightly pungent air is forced into your lungs.

Your eyes flutter open, and you see you're in an underwater cavern that's filled with air. Strange...but not unheard of. A far off splash grabs your attention, and as you look over your shoulder to see what made the noise, a purple and pink, transparent fin tip just dissapears past a watery hole.

You crawl over. I mean, hey, it's not like you have anything better to do. Peering into the pool of water, you see nothing...just black water. But the surface ripples, and you find yourself submerging your face into the very same liquid that nearly took your life...

...and as your eyes slowly adjust to the slight sting of saltwater, the murky water is peppered with streams of sunlight as something moves out of the light's way. Suddenly, the watery world is a thousand times clearer, and there, staring you in the face, with the saddest, greyest eyes you've ever seen, was a stitch-mouthed, purple and blue haired, eel-finned...thing. Red gills pulse at it's jawline, draining and flushing with crimson blood beneath its surface with every breath the thing takes. Orange spines stuck out over the gills...to protect them? Perhaps. It's head seems overly large compared to the spiraling body that you can barely see below...but it's simply the water's perspective that gives this creature such a shape.

Startled, you force yourself backwards, up and out of the water, back to the slick, blueblack rocks of the glistening cave.

You think to yourself...

What kind of fish WAS that?!
