Story
It was a time when all were terrorized by those which lurked in the forest.
Night prowlers.
These prowlers were giant, shadowy, dark wolves, almost nocturnal,
they kill at night. They are marked by a crescent moon covering their left shoulder.
The night prowlers fear two things: light and love. Because of this they live in the part of the forest so thick with trees that the scant light seeping through the leaves isn't noticeable. Nothing is
growing besides grass, heavily covered in dew all the time. Many mushrooms grow here and there, as they like dark, moist places.
Among these night prowlers was Roubald. Though the prowlers were renowned for there size, Roubald was known even among them, for his size and immense strength. Their unique howl is heard in the middle of the
night. Although the sound may be beautiful, because of the night prowlers fierce nature, it has become a symbol of fear.
However, not all the forest was this thick, dark, moist forest. Parts of it were so bright and so full of life you might forget about its dark, dreary side.
Most animals stay clear of the thick forest. However some, are driven by curiosity to this mysterious place. One such person, a beautiful lupe named Rhist, ventured into this area, while in search of
some new types of mushrooms. While there, she saw a pair of blood shot eyes, like those of a night prowler, staring out at her from the darkness. After a couple
of seconds, she heard the beast leave. Then she, quite hurriedly, went back to her cheery part of the forest.
Eventually, this brave, curious, lupe was once more lured to this dark, moist, place, which mushrooms liked. This time she didn't see anyone as she walked through the forest, but when
she reached a clearing of trees (not very common in this part of the forest), she saw a beast with the same eyes of the monster from the other day. A black lupe, bracing himself, ready to throw himself off
the cliff.
A tear rolled down my cheek as I prepared to throw myself off the edge. She's too good for me,
I've led such a terrible life. So I must end it and keep more neopians safe. Suddenly, the same
lupe from the other day ran at me yelling No! And I was frozen where I was. Too dumbstruck
to realize what was happening...I was in love. Fear suddenly awoke me, and led me to realize what was
happening, and I darted into the forest as fast as I could.
The following night, instead of going on my oh so addicting killing spree, I worried about this
love problem. As I was still pondering upon what I should do, the smell of a new kill, the smell of
blood reached my nose, and I let go of my senses. I went on my routine massacre. In the morning,
regret washed over me, How did I let that get a hold of me?!
A pair of beautiful green eyes glowed in the darkness. She was back. I think you'd better come
with me. You might hurt yourself. I let her take me back, awestruck by her beauty. This
continued until we reached the edge of my part of the forest and light shone in upon us. I
yelped as the light touched my fur, and ran back into the darkness. What's the matter?
the she-lupe asked. Nothing, I'm just not used to the light.
The she-lupe eventually created a shady spot where I could stay with her. I learned that her
name was Rhist, and finally just let myself fall in love with her. Since I have been with her,
I have not senselessly killed anyone. However, to this day I have to be careful around blood.
Also, little by little, I have gotten used to light, and, although it still hurts a bit to be hit
directly by it, since it is somewhat shaded by the leaves, which only some light can
penetrate, I am able to be with Rhist in her forest.
