Welcome
You are walking in an empty field, taking a shortcut across to home after a long hard day of...stuff. You hear the soft sound of thudding hooves and look around you. There is nothing there, but it can't be so as the hoof beats sound so close! You suddenly look up, shielding your eyes against the glare of the afternoon sun, to see the strangest sight ever. A large uni seems to be trotting over whisps of cloud towards the ground, and you. You leap out of the way and the uni lands on the ground.
I'm sorry to startle you so," says the stallion, dipping his fine blue head, "But I have come to warn you of danger, from the skies!"
What do you mean?" you ask, eyeing the uni curiously.
There is a dry lightning storm coming, and this field may catch fire. I suggest you follow me, to safety. The whole area is at risk, and you are far from home?"
You look at the sky. Sure enough, a menacing grey cloud is crawling across the sky, "Yeah, I am," you nod at the stallion, "But where will you take me?"
The uni leans down and allows you to clamber onto his strong back, "Above the storm cloud, where you will be safe and I can show you my home," he neighs, unfolding his great wings and soaring into the sky.
Who are you?" you ask, as the uni takes you above the clouds.
I'm Parallax!" he yells, trying to be heard over a terrible rumble of thunder from below. Far below, comes the smell of smoke and burning grass. Parallax sets you onto a white cloud.
You expect to fall through and yell out in suprise but the cloud is like ground beneath your feet, "Nice to meet you. I'm guest. This is your home?"
For as long as I can remember." Replied Parallax, admiring the seas of cloud around him, "But I'm much more interesting than this place. I'll show you!"

My Story

My story starts when I was just a newborn foal in the herd of the sky. We didn't actually live in the sky, we were so named because of our excellent flying abilities and our ways of life. My mother was a pretty mare, she had a long mane and tail and her coat bore elegant pastel colours. My father was dark and handsome, one of the finest males in our herd. And I remember that they both loved me very much and I was their first and only foal. As torrential rain hammered down, I ran as fast as I could go. Electricity crackled in the sky. Was mother alright? The puddles on the ground grew larger in moments, growing every second. Should I go back? A flash of blinding light lit the dark sky and I saw my father's fiercly angry face. Definately not. Very slowly, I opened my eyes. I felt soft grass underneath me and could smell fresh flowers. I had been sleeping in a field. Could my terrifying experience have been a dream? I could almost imagine that my mother would be heading over any moment to awaken me...But I felt that my mane was a little damp and knew I had to believe the truth. But where was I now? Could I have died in that horrific flash flood? Was I in heaven? I awoke yet again to find myself in a place I didn't recognise. I was in the sky, resting on a cloud. Something was preventing me from falling through. I thought of the power. Meg was gone. I peeped over to cloud and for a split second I thought I saw a black dog on the ground, swathed in purple light. But then a black storm cloud came to rest over our perfect herd and things started going wrong. Floods and storms wrecked the land; unis started to go missing; foals died in the night and nobody knew why. My mother was worried for me. She told my father that she wanted me to leave the herd and find somewhere better to live before I died like the others my age. My father wouldn't listen, he wanted me to stay and to grow up to protect the herd like him, not to run, like a coward. They argued. I cried.
Mother pleaded.
Father kicked her.
I ran.
My legs were numbing with cold and damp but my mouth turned dry when I noticed that the land was flooding. I leapt to the highest point I could find but it was right next to an over-flowing river. I couldn't escape. I flapped my feeble wings like I'd seen the elders do when they flew but mine were too under-developed. I backed away from the rising water but there was no escape. Ice cold water lapped my hooves, getting higher and higher and before I knew it, I was swimming, or thrashing around in a panic.
The coldness gripped at my legs, I was tireing; my whole body wanted to succumb to the icy blackness that was taking hold...
The wind picked up, sending a wave of water crashing down on top of me.
And I was sinking, down and down, into the dark, cold depths...
I heard a sneeze and sat up sharply. A great black creature had seen me awaken and was heading over. I whinnied in fear as I saw great canines flashing in the warm sun. I tried to stand, to run but I was still weak. I could only cower as the beast reached me. I heard snuffeling noises and winced as it's big wet nose made contact.
Then, to my great suprise, the huge animal started to lick the damp from my coat in such a caring way that made me think of my mother. When it was satisfyed, it sat back to admire it's work. My coat shone brightly. On closer inspection, I saw the beast to be a dog, with a broad white chest and big brown eyes. It's coat was wet and it smelt like river, "D-did you save me?" I whispered, unsure whether this creature would understand.
It nodded, "Meg help. That what she do," boomed Meg, wafting her large bushy tail.
I thought for a moment then said, "Meg...will you help me find my herd?"
Meg looked directly at me with dark sad eyes, "Big water. Herd gone. Nothing Meg could do. Meg help foal."
A lump formed in my throat but I forced it down, "Where do I go now..." I whispered to myself.
SKY!" barked Meg, so that she gave me quite a fright.
I regained my composure and asked, "Why the sky? That doesn't make any sense!"
Meg edged closer to me, "You go SKY!," she seemed to have a thing for saying that word loudly, "You be SKY Guardian. You help, like Meg. You use power, you make GOOD difference."
A little shaken from Meg's loud disposition, I stuttered, "I'd like to help people, but I don't have any powers at all!"
YOU DO NOW." The huge dog rested her great black muzzle between my wings and I was blinded with purple light.
I stood up. My legs felt strong beneath me, as did the wings on my back. My wings...I flapped them and instantly, I lifed off the cloud. It was a miricale! I wondered what other powers the strange hound had given me. I lowered myself onto the cloud and closed my eyes, concentrating. I felt the breeze, I could hear the clouds passing, I tasted the moist air and I knew that everything was allright.
So now, I am the Guradian of the Sky and I protect all from the destruction that can come from it.

I met him when I awoke one morning on my cloud. I ended up having to save him from Pandoria, a very pink place. But I would never say that he's more trouble than he's worth =)

You try to answer back but you black out. You awake outside of your house, still standing. The dry storm seems miles away. You shrug and enter your home.
