About Valhalla

The Realm

Description of how it looks, cities, countryside.

The Volcano

A massive volcano rests on the outskirts of Valhalla, containing the homes and sanctuaries of the mysterious Fire Clan. The houses lie nestled amid the black rocks, vaguely reminiscent of Shenkuu architecture with gracefully curved roofs. Deeper in the caverns and tunnels of the fiery mountain lie the inner sanctums and temples, all kept by these unusual Valhallians.

The Hospital

The Valhallian Hospital is a grand building, no less beautiful for its strict functions. Within its white and gold halls, civilians and soldiers alike recover from everything from the fiercest battle wounds to the most crippling illnesses. The doctors and nurses harness a combination of healing magic and technology to give their patients the finest care possible.

The magnum opus of an unknown architect, the hospital has three literal 'wings' when viewed from the air--inside each one are rooms designated for seraphs, angels, and cherubs. Equally magnificent are the gardens contained within, which shelter patients on the mend and offer them a change of scenery and a breath of fresh air as they make their recovery.

The Park

Valhalla's park is a suprising greenspace, a field of grass and the occasional tree that serves as a community hub, offering a safe place for children to play in as well as a somewhat calmer retreat from the day-to-day life of the average Valhallian. Although surrounded by shops and other buildings, the park is a good place for a picnic, a walk, or just a quiet read under a tree.

The Valhallan Palace

The Taj Mahal of Valhalla, the palace is a vast gold and ivory building with opalescent domes and is the centre of political activity. The House of Lords is found here, as are the headquarters of the esteemed Valkyries and the Fountain of Magic, which is only accessable by the Archangels. The Maze Gardens, which are also found within the palace, are a botanical and horticultural masterpiece that is tended fastidiously by many gardeners. They have brought in flowers, trees, and other plants from the farthest reaches of the realm and brought them together to create a soothing sanctuary of greenery and colour.

Seraph University

The Seraph University is found on the right side of the Palace, connected but distinct. It is here that the young seraphs train to fulfill their roles of leadership and command, working to achieve greatness as only seraphs can. The largest library in Valhalla is found here.

Academy for the Gifted

The Academy is the school for those Valhallians who show a particular aptitude for magic, and its halls are filled with cherubs and the odd angel, all of them striving to master their arts.

The Portals

To get from Valhalla to Neopia there are magical portaals, rifts that open between both realms to let them through. The magic used to create these portals is tricky and draining. Seraphs devised portal stones to make them easier to open, but keep strict tabs on all stones, so as to control the movement of Angels and Cherubs between the realms. Officially, only Seraphs may use these stones, and then only those with authorization.

If an Angel or a Cherub wishes to travel to Neopia or back, there are a series of 'public' portals in Valhalla that connect to the main cities of Neopia. To use these, they must state their business and ask for permission to leave or enter. Seraphs are always posted at these portals, and they only open them when there is a 'passenger', to save enery, and prevent portal hoppers.

Blinkers

There is a type of teleport magic that some rare gifted Cherubs posess. Highly powerul, these mages, known as Blinkers for their quick teleport skills, can 'link' from Valhalla to Neopia, and even to Niflheim, or in time. New Blinkers that are learninf to control their powers have a tendency to blink without control to different realms. THese mages are required to carry a passport with them, when using the portals to return to Valhalla after a blunder.

Social Classes

Arch-Angels

The reigning class of Valhalla is composed of Arch-Angels, powerful entities that can manipulate the component energies of the realm. They have a very large wingspan, usually up to twice their height, of pale colors ranging from white to yellow and lavender. Arch-angels do not have the power to procreate, they are beings chosen by the Jewels of Power at birth, or at a relatively young age, as future leaders, due to the pureness of their spirit.

Usually the child chosen is either mortal (Neopian) or an Angel, although there have been the rare case of a Cherub or Seraph being chosen as well. When they are marked by the jewel, they loose their original set of wings for a period of five years, in which they must prove themselves worthy of the position.

They are identified and expelled from Valhalla for that period, to wander Neopia and learn, grow and train, guided by a Cherub chosen carefully as their guardian. Once they prove themselves, the arch-angeling displays their new set of wings and can create a portal to Valhalla.

There is never more than three Arch-Angels alive at one time, each possessing a Jewel of Power.

Seraphs

These are the second reigning class of Valhalla, characterized by posessing three pairs of bird-like wings. They are powerful beings who have an ease to manipulate the energies of Valhalla, and in general are of great wisdom.

Seraphs take up all of the top positions in every aspect of Valhalla, from the House of Lords, to the Generals of the army. They lead, and decide most of what happens everywhere, and respond only to other seraphs and to the Arch-Angels.

If a seraph is found wanting, or proves to be problematic, they may find themselves demoted to Angel status, loosing their priviledges and two of their wing sets. This is shameful for a seraph and usually if they are demoted, they retire to Neopia, where no one knows who they were.

Valkyries

Valkyries are special Seraphs, there is about 5-10 (not decided yet) of them. They are all female warriors, the elite of the elite, and are a law unto themselves, reporting directly to the Arch-Angels only. They have legendary powers and skills, and are the guardians of the Realm, usually prefering to work on their own, although they can command any to help them, if they so require. And obedience to them is mandatory.

Cherubs

The seedlings for warriors and teachers, cherubs had a wide variety of wing-types, and not all of them can hide those wings as other Valhallians can. Cherubs are specialists in magic powers, and are trained from a very early age in a special school.

Depending on their virtues and gifts, Cherubs can be assigned to work as part of a Flight, guided by a Seraph, and become part of the Army, or as a teacher for other Cherubs and Angels.

Cherubs are more numerous in quantity to Seraphs but they still do not compare to the ammount of angels in Valhalla.

Angels

The common citizen, and 'lowest' of categories are the Angels. They have one set of bird-like wings which they can hide at will. As a commoner, they have less standing in political situations, but can rise in status if they prove to have magical aptitude or physical prowess. It is not unseen for Angels to be part of a Flight.

This is the most numerous of the classes, and there are all types of Angels, some not as virtuous as others. As they are not expected to be teachers or fighters, many Angels travel to Neopia to try their luck in a land where they are more respected.

The Fallen

When a citizen of Valhalla commits a grave sin, or is found guilty of treason, they are sentenced to leave Valhalla forever, banished. They are called 'The Fallen', they are stripped permanently of their wings, and cut off from the magical energies of Valhalla. This usually means they are stripped of their powers, and can no longer go back to Valhalla.

Most Fallen are sad, broken creatures that wander aimlessly over Neopia, and are commonly grey pets.

Fallen are either those who have sinned against Valhalla or have been cut off from the source in other (specific) ways like for example spending too much time in Niflheim.

Hybrids

--Missing content--

Hybrids with Neopian blood cannot enter Valhalla as a general rule, though there have been exceptions in recent times. Some side effects of mixed parentage are trouble manifesting wings/smaller wings and weaker powers.

Award of Exellency

For petpages with original content

This award is for pages that contain information about something 'out of this world' basically something unique to Neopia, that works parallel to the given world of Neopia, without appearing on the map. Be it just a unique story/background or a well-thought out new world. For this award images are not necessary but help. What is more important is the content, how it is presented and how interesting it is to read.

My Story

It all started out, a long long time ago, actully, on the 2nd of April, 2001, when my owner, Hikaru-sama joined Neopets. Her first pet, was, of course myself. I was born as a beautiful yellow shoyru, and I was the favorite and only pet that Hikaru-sama had. We had a lot of fun and played games around the site. But in that time, Meerca Chase was giving out plushies for good scores, and we obviously managed to win one.

I can remember it clearly, we had won a green meerca plushie... a magical green meerca plushie... And I, unknowing the powers of the plushie, played with it while Hikaru-sama was away shopping. When Hikaru-sama came back from shopping she nearly had a heart attack when she saw me transformed into one of the neopets she least liked. Since we didn't have much money at the time, she despaired of changing me back, and created a second pet, Pixie_Fuu, a blue pteri, one of the first to be created after their descovery.

She soon got money enough to make me into something nicer, and turned me into a red or what is now an orange pteri, and thought it would be just perfect that Fuu and me could get along well. We actually had quite a lot of fights between us though.

Months later, Hikaru-sama decided she wanted to have a faerie koi, which in her opinion was the nicest of the faerie pets available at the time. After trying to make a koi, and failing because of the destruction of Maraqua, she looked at Fuu, talked with her, gave her a koi morphing potion and bought her a faerie paint brush.

It only took her a week to notice *I* wasn't painted and pretty furious at the favoritism towards my sister, for me to get painted desert.

So there I was, a desert pteri... happy at last... until the rainbow fountain opened for buisness and Hikaru-sama decided to try her luck at finind me a new friend, by making another pteri, Misora, and painting her striped. But she's so snobbish and conceited, that we don't get along as well as we should. I still love her...as a sister... and am overly protective of her. I'm afraid she might get hurt, and all, so I could say I get jealous if she starts eyeing other pteris.

Sometime after that, Pixie_Fuu rescued Kaiross, a shadow peophin from the ruins of Maraqua, and he was the quietest addition to our little neohome. He still insists he's destined to great things, but is a moody type.

Then, tragedy hit our little home, when Pixie_Fuu was taken from us due to an unfortunate incident. Hikaru mourned the loss of her fighting pet and all the weapons she had gathered for her, and left us for over a year. During that time, Misora, Kaiross and myself made a small living on what we had on our account, and by the time Hikaru came back, we had run dry the bank account and had even had to sell our petpets to keep alive.

She was terribly sorry for leaving us for so long, and quickly made up for it, with new petpets, toys and decent food. She even spiced up our neohome as well, so we could be more comfortable. In the meantime, Kaiross left to live on a side-account, and we adopted a new small sister, Fuuko_chan.

More recently, I've been through a slew of new transformations, after an unexpected encounter with boochi's gun, during the incidents in the Lost Desert. You can imagine my horror at being turned into an egg, after being a desert pteri for so long. Hikaru agreed with me that I couldn't stay an egg for much longer, and morphed me back into a red pteri. The she bought access to the lab ray, since Lost Desert paint brushes were very expensive at the time, and it was cheaper to buy the ray. I accepted because I wanted to become stronger.

Of course, me and my luck had me turn faerie on Pteri day, right after Hikaru morphed me back into a pteri for that day (I had been mmoping around the day before because I had been morphed into a kacheek, and wouldn't be a pteri for pteri day.) So that was the last time I visited the ray. I like the new feather colors, so I've decided against becoming a desert pteri once more.

As you can see, being a 5 year old neopet means you have a LOT of stories to tell! So much has happened since that long ago day in which I first soard Neopia skies.
