Ah, guest!
There you are. I'm ready to see you now.
Welcome to the Neopian Emergency Room
What is a disease?
A disease is defined as an impairment of health or a condition of abnormal functioning. To a Neopet it is just as an uncomfortable experience as it is to you or me.
In Neopia, your pet can catch a disease in a number of ways and it is pretty common for your pet to fall ill with some variety of disease.
The good thing to know is your pets can not die from any contracted disease. It is after all just a game, however if you leave your pet sick and untreated their mood will gradually turn to the depressed state. While being depressed your pet is at a higher risk of being the victim of a very rare Random Event which will cause your pet to turn into the basic colour Blue. This change is permanent, so if your ill, depressed Royal pet stays untreated too long they may revert to Blue and you will have to buy another paint brush to make it Royal again.

Ebon fears Blue!
While your Neopet is sick, it will steadily lose hit points and will not be unable to fight in the Battledome until it's cured.

What diseases can my Neopet catch?
Below is a current list of diseases your Neopets could catch:
| Disease |
Symptoms |
| Neogitus |
Your pet's gums become sore and swollen. It has difficulty eating or drinking. |
| Bloaty Belly |
This is what happens when your pet eats too much. Your pet will complain of being
bloated and will refuse to eat anything. |
| Fuzzitus |
This is an allergy to fluff that all pets get now and again, especially bad for JubJubs!! |
| Achy Head |
Your pet will have a nasty headache and feel very under the weather. |
| Shock -A- Lots |
Your pet's fur will be full of static and anything it touches will give off electric sparks. |
| Watery Eyes |
Your pet will look like it is constantly crying even though it may well be quite happy. |
| NeoBlues |
Your pet is feeling very down in the dumps, it shows little or no interest in playing or eating anything. |
| Floppy Tongue |
Your pet's tongue has become all swollen and floppy. Your pet
will not be able to close its mouth and will drool a lot. |
| Cricky Neck |
Ouch - your pet's neck is very stiff and it can't move its head at all. |
| NeoMites |
Your beloved pet's coat is covered with lurgees that hop around
and make your pet scratch. |
| Blurred Vision |
Your pet will see spots and may bump into things all the time. |
| Neggitus |
One too many Neggs can cause an allergic reaction, swelling
of the ears and dizziness. |
| Sneezles |
Your pet will have a runny nose and sneeze constantly. |
| D'achoo |
Your pet will go into a massive sneezing fit, and its eyes will become very sore. |
| Shaky Flakys |
Your pet will start trembling uncontrollably and its skin
will be dry. In extreme cases, the skin may even start to flake off. |
| Grumbles |
Your pet's stomach will begin to make the loudest of noises and it may be from its food |
| Chickaroo |
Your pet will think it is a chicken, pecking the ground for food and crowing at dawn. |
| Bloaty Feet |
Your pet's feet will swell and grow in size until you give it the necessary antidote. |
| Kikoughela |
Your pet will have a sore throat and coughing fits. |
| Lumps |
Your pet will be covered in large, yellow, itchy lumps. |
| NeoPhobia |
A chronic fear of leaving the house. |
| Hoochie Coochies |
Your poor pet will break out in blue and green spots. |
| NeoMonia |
This is a nasty illness that needs urgent medical attention.
Your pet will feel sick, tired, and grumpy until you give it the cure. |
| Neezles |
Your pet will break out in red spots if it's suffering from Neezles. |
| Itchy Scratchies |
A nasty disease where your pet is covered in amazingly itchy red lumps. |
| NeoPox |
If your pet has NeoPox it will be covered in very itchy, contagious red blotches. |
| NeoWarts |
Your pet will have big cauliflower like lumps growing on its body. |
| Bubbles |
Your poor pet will constantly hiccup bubbles. |
| Neo Flu |
Your pet will refuse to eat, appear flushed and be very sleepy. |
| Fuzzy Fungus |
In the most severe cases your Neopets fur can turn purple as
it begins to turn into a Fungus Ball. |
| Ugga-Ugga |
Possibly the worst Tyrannian disease, your Neopet's throat becomes so sore that all they can do is make Ugga noises. |
| Reptillioritus |
Caused by a bite from a venemous Reptillior, the skin becomes very red and itchy. Your Neopet
will refuse to eat and feel very tired all the time. |
| Doldrums |
Your pet will start hiding in cold, dark, damp corners and won't come out into the light. |
| Jitters |
If you notice that your pet runs around constantly and just can't seem to sit still to sleep, eat or do anything
it might have this disease. |
| Spyder Bite |
Caused by a bite from a wild Spyder, your pet will appear very afraid of the Spider Grundo and Spyders. |
| Pollenitus |
Caused by the change of seasons and the blooming of plants. If your Neopet is sneezing horribly and has watery, itchy, eyes and nose they probably are suffering from Pollenitus. |

What do I do, my pet has a Disease!
Ok, first things first, head over to the Neopian Hospital which is located in the Neopian Plaza.
Below I have marked it's location on the map:

The hospital lists all the diseases, and their cures.
Once you have diagnosed your pets disease and found the cure you need its time to make a b-line to the local Pharmacy which is located on the Main Map.
Below is its location:

The Pharmacy sells all cures, but cures do vary in rarity so some may not stock here all the time. Especially if there is an epidemic or one of the wheels is dishing out a specific disease.

One at a time please.

How do I cure my pet?
There are 5 main methods to cure your pet from its ailment.
- Healing springs
- Species specific cures
- Heal items
- Pharmacy Medicine
- Alternative Medicine
The Healing springs
This will be your very first stop. The healing springs is free to use as many times as you need.
Its only restrictions are that you can only visit once every 30 minutes, and what she does is random.
For the best result, go every 30 minutes with your sick pet set as active until she cures it.
*Note: You are allowed to visit the Healing Springs on your side accounts.
This is the message you are wanting:
The Water Faerie says a few magical words and...
All your Neopets have their health completely restored!!!

Yes I have limits, but it's FREE!
*NOTE*
Can't go to the springs because she's telling you your in a battle? There is something you can do to fix it!
1. Visit the STATUS page in the battledome.
If that doesn't do the trick then;
2. Unequip and then reequip a weapon to your pet. That can be done HERE!
Species specific cures
Did you know...

Feeding your Pteri an item with "worm" in it will make it bloated and cured of any disease.

Feeding your Kau any "milk" item will make it bloated.

Feeding your ghost coloured pet "Magic Ghost Marshmallows" will restore all its Hit Points.
Heal items

Medicinal Plant- It "may" heal your pet, but not always, this method requires patience.

Yellow Healthshroom- For about 50k you can pick up this nifty little shroom which will heal you pet of any disease.

Witchy Negg- "May" heal your pets disease, but also may Change your pets gender, turn them into a Lenny, Tuskaninny or Moehog, boost their intelligence or raise their hit points.
Its random.
Pharmacy Medicine
Below I have listed each disease and their Medicine along with a link to quick search them in Shop Wizard/Trade Post price.
Each is guaranteed to heal your pet of the disease its suffering from.
I update the below disease causing games once a month.
Always double check the Shop wizard and Trades prices before buying!

Current Wheel of excitement Disease:
Chickaroo

Current Qasalan Expellibox Disease:
Reptillioritus
If you don't want to pay the shop wizard/trades price, you could try your luck buying one at the Pharmacy.
*HINT*
Did you know your pet can catch other disease even if they are sick?
If you find your pet has caught a nasty disease like Ugga-Ugga which has an expensive medicine, and the healing springs is taking too long, try feeding your pet Poisonous Jelly until it catches Neomonia.
Neomonia's med is a lot cheaper, and the new disease overrules the first so you only have to cure the current disease! Cool eh?

One last thing to note about healing.
Completing an Earth Faerie Quest DOES NOT heal your pet of a disease.
All she will do is make one pet randomly bloated in hunger, restore its hit points to full and increase its overall body weight.

I bestow a great feast onto your pet!

Games and Wheels

All these games will give your pet a disease if you happen to get an unlucky spin/drop.
Wheel of Excitement- If you land on the Skull and crossbones symbol, your active pet falls ill with whatever disease the wheel is set on for that month. This changes from month to month.
Wheel of Misfortune- If you land on the "Pox" symbol, your active pet would fall ill with a random disease.
NC Mall Qasalan Expellibox- If your scarab lands on the Skull and crossbones symbol, your active pet falls ill.
Currently there is one disease known to be obtained there, Reptillioritus. I do not have enough data to determine if this will change on a monthly basis like the WoE.
Species Specific Causes

If you feed your Kyrii an "apple" item it could get Itchy Scratchies.

Quiggles can catch Neezles from eating "Cream" foods.

Tonu's can get sick if fed a "Melted Chocolate Negg".

Cheese" items can cause a Skeith can get Neezles.
Random Event
Yes, even if you avoid all the above causes, your pet can still get sick!

This is one of the many Random SHH or "Something Has Happened" events you could get while wandering the site.
This event causes your pet to come douwn with a randomly generated disease.
This SHH however does NOT make your pet ill, its just an odd (and the first time you see it, heart stopping) event that does nothing.

Wait...Why do people WANT a sick pet?
Two simple reasons:

On August 23rd 2002 Meuka rose to take on the Defenders of Neopia!
In Defenders of Neopia Meuka is the 4th challenger and fairly tough to beat.
If however you are successful you are rewarded with the above Trophy and Avatar.
Unfortunatly in order to obtain this challenger your pet must be ill with either the Sneezles or the Neoflu.
These are the only diseases that work, this Guide is a pretty good method for beating him, I myself used this tactic.

Dare you take me on?

I would like to encourage anyone who can correct my info, or add something that I have missed to Neomail Me!
Please note, you do not have permission to directly copy any of my work, I have worked very hard on this guide.
Thank you.
