Inspired by my love for horses and the song Wildfire.
[midi temporary until I can find the real version]

Feathers represent strength and courage, are highly respected.

Horses represent speed, loyalty, and healing.

They are a symbol of freedom
and a reflection of the past.

Horses may also represent 'journey'.

There are some that say on peacful nights you can hear her hopeful winny.
Others yet have claimed to see her.

Accounts vary; sometimes she's seen standing, wide eyed with her ears perked intently staring into nothingness. Some insist they've seen her running; determined to reach her destination. But for whom is she searching? and where does she desire to go?

Like any story passed down generations, it has evolved and changed with time.

It all began on one warm late summer night, while water was falling softly from the heavens, when a foal of beautiful markings was born, she spoke softly to her captivated audience. Under the watch of her mother, the young filly took her first steps.
Not long after she stood, both, one trustingly; the other confidently, walked towards the illuminated tepees by which many humans sat. The mare proudly found her master at the circle's edge and to him, presented her lovely foal. He adorned his horse with affection, and stroked the young and curious creature nestled tightly by her side.

She is gorgeous!" the girl exclaimed quietly as she walked unthreatening towards the newly born foal.

With a smile the man said to his daughter "I give her to you to care for as your own. You will grow right along side of her."

Her eyes glistened with the thought of her very own horse. "You will be my Amadi Ara" she said lovingly to the filly.

Though tolerant of the young girl, the foal much prefered her mother's side. There she stayed, only wandering as far as sight allowed, for two months until curiosity finally grasped her.

Oh, she is gorgeous!' a different two-legged creature exclaimed as she hastened to the frail filly's side.

Dena, my sweet daughter, I give her to you, to care for as your own. You may grow right along side her, and she will be a faithful mount; just as this mare was and is for me,' the tall man said as he stroked the old horse's mane.

Thank you, father!,' the girl cried as she wrapped her arms firmly around his broad chest. And almost in a whisper she told the little filly her name. 'You will be my Amadi Ara' she said as she rubbed the young horse's forehead with her own.

Within a few months the filly was weaned and becoming more independent as the weeks passed. She often ventured further from her mother and spent much of her time with the kind, young girl. They grew quite fond of each other and over time their bond had grown so strong neither could be seperated from the other.

Amadi Ara portrayed all the same attributes as her mother. She served loyaly by her master's side but she never forgot that she also was free. Free to be content; and that she was with the companionship of her girl.

As any girl would, she shared her secrets with the little horse that could not betray her. She cried and laughed and loved Amadi Ara.

In affection Dena tied blue and green beads to Amadi Ara's tail and mane. And in the highest respect for her friend, she tied also three eagle feathers she had been given as a young girl by her grandfather.
