Sorry for the sidescroll! please vote. ![]() Down the deserted streets, along the ramshackle buildings. Up, up into the air, dancing and twirling momentarily before a gasping, whining old taxi splutters by, dragging the crinkled paper to the asphalt once again. Scuttling carefully now, along the curb, sliding along on two mangled corners. It's a drawing, one you've been chasing for a while now… the whim was becoming tiresome, though. Assuring yourself that no cars will come and flatten you, you dash along the sidewalk and sweep down in the street, snagging up the paper. That car had to be going way too fast… it wasn't even at the corner when you ran to get the paper. You jump, and it swerves, running up onto the sidewalk as the owner slams on the horn. Not on the break, though… the car manages to continue along the sidewalk, crabwalking along with its hind wheels still in the street until it meets a lamppost. Startled, you clutch the paper and continue swiftly down the road, seeking a place away from the enraged driver to look at the picture. Finding a stoop suitable for lurking, you hop up the steps and settle, unfolding the ratty piece of paper. The drawing is of a building face, one of the local rat-hole apartment complexes… across the drawn façade is a brilliant mural, of an island with great stone heads and whales swimming through the water. It's an impressive sketch, despite the sloppy scale notations scribbled down the sides of the paper. Thumbing it gently, you glance up to get your bearings, and discover the mural, full and complete, in front of you. A decrepit metal sign, reminant of the seventies, reads HIG OP S Ap rtme t Hi hr se Realising that a good deal of letters are gone, you figure that it's the infamous High Hopes… the Hopeless Hotel, by another name. It's strange to see the intricate workmanship put into the painting on the dilapidated building, the paint fresh enough to still be releasing an acrid smell. Curious, you carefully cross the street, wandering up the front steps to see a hand-penned sign on the door: WET PAINT. Lean against the wall and find a paintbrush down your throat. Gazing at it, you fail to notice as the door swings open, slamming the threatening sign into your face. Dazed, you find yourself sitting on the steps, a string of curses running from the mouth of a tall, slender Kougra. He wipes wet house paint from his shirt, glaring down at you with his headphones around his neck. Great. It's all over you, too. I guess you'll want to come in." Turning, he holds the door for a minute before trotting up the hallway. Halloween, Jelly and Purple now :3 Pink, Striped and Faerie Adoptables Look! Iltidae is gone! Catching up to him in the elevator, you get your first real look at the painter. His grey-green fur is ruffled slightly from surprise, a telling tale of inked lines running over his face, arms, neck and feet, not to mention the end of his tail. The now-empty paint tin hangs from a finger on his right hand, a number of thick felt-tipped pens clutched in his left. His fur is stained by the paint and the markers... yet, for the marker's part, it seems to be intentional. In fact, on closer inspection, it becomes quite obvious that all of his markings had been drawn on. As he turns you get a look at his face; a smirk, dark, dull green eyes flickering with amusement. His gaze is surprisingly intense for a grey pet, and after returning your scrutiny he offers his right hand; more sloppily drawn on than his left, you note, as the suede-padded paw envelops yours, soft and warm as he shakes your hand. Shaking his head softly, he removes some stray hairs from his face, only a little darker than his base colour but still noticeable when they hung over his eyes. For a moment you feel like you saw him smile, and though he hadn't been unfriendly that makes you feel a little better. Despite the clunky sound-cancelling headphones over his ears, his voice is crisp and regular volume as he speaks. I suppose I owe you an introduction. My name is Eru."

Name: Klieru
![]()
Having been raised in a fairly open, accepting society, Eru enjoyed a childhood where he could express himself freely. Individuality and creativity were traits that were embraced by his family and friends, and other than your typical adolescent skirmishes, he got along well enough with his peers. He attended a specialized school in Iltidae, which allowed him to have a peer group of similar skills and mindset, but, for the most part, he kept to himself. School didn't require a great deal of effort from him, however he did struggle with deadlines. His grades reflected a decent average, despite his apathy towards learning. As he grew older, Klieru began to stray from Iltidae. He opted to enter a high school in the big city, outfitted with a decent apartment by his family. His parents' knew that university would soon follow, and hoped the newfound independance would help prepare him for the experiance. It wasn't long before he found harsh resistance from the social 'norm'. His lack of stripes pushed him out of the crowd, his alternative lifestle greatening the void between himself and your average teenager. He had always been slightly unsure of himself in social situations, and the city life exacerbated his anxieties. Eru is still an emotional person, and still very much an artist. He's become increasingly antisocial, and spends a large amount of time alone in his apartment with his art and computer. When he's out of his house he's always wearing a heavy set of earphones, with a sound-canceller that leaves him deaf to everything but his music. For this reason, many see him as aloof, but it's simply a matter of his personal comfort. Due to the critical view other youths have of his lack of stripes
he he started to draw markings on himself with a set of markers. When nervous or upset he can be found drawing new patterns over any part of himself he can reach; feet, arms, face and the last length of his tail are usually the first to be doodled on.
![]() For the most part, Klieru's design is a fairly simple one, in both Anthro and quad.
![]() ![]()
![]() ![]() This is Eru's Quad reference picture. This one is a considerable bit more basic than the above, but still portrays what it needs to. Eru is essentially the same in colouration as in his Anthro form, with the lighter chest area shown on this version. He wears a collar with his MP3 player clipped to it, and a number of small 'keychain' pens hung from the collar ring. Even in quad he wears his headphones and he draws his markings by holding the pens in his mouth. When drawing Eru, one must keep in mind what he can and can't reach in his quadrupedal form: He won't bother drawing on his right leg, and he can't draw on his neck or along a good deal of his back comfortably. Refer to the reference picture: Anywhere above the blue line is out of his reach and would go markingless.![]() ![]() Rhiduls is Eru's mentally damaged Tasu. In the layout, the writing you see behind Eru is one of his school assignments, which tells the story of how Rhiduls and Eru met from Eru's perspective. Rhiduls's diet is anything but normal. Even after becoming a house petpet, and being offered Petpet food, meat and fish, He continues to eat paint pats, crayons and pastels, staining his teeth a variety of interesting colours. His story follows:
![]() ![]() Off from Neopian Central, away from the bright windows of the stores and the cheery garden paths of "Executive Town Homes" Neopia sprawls into urban anonymity. It's quite simply impossible to stumble across the industrial section of Neopia, well hidden from even long-time residents' curiosity. Several miles down a crumpled, lonely service road, the second city sprouts up in grey uneven clumps reminiscing of a dreary fungus, a haze of pollutants spewed from surrounding refineries smothering the city.Within, a confused maze of ramshackle fast-food restaurants, rattrap apartments, and questionable corner stores sustain the residents in their mindless drone of slave-like work. There is little that doesn't take on a grey tint in the city, little that can flourish in the hostile cement desert. Like the carcasses of great beasts, burnt out cars sprawl on cement blocks. Buildings leer onto the streets, their shattered windows turned to ragged grins. Children… what children there are… play safely indoors – or not at all. A gut-twisting tension seems to be strung down the empty streets, and though at any given hour the residents of the city are either buried in their labors or soundly unconscious, it still feels like trouble roves the streets without a master. Down one such street, particularly notorious for the crumbling buildings that hedge it, there is a flash of color amongst the grey. Amongst the gaping maws of various abandoned buildings (for even the desperate know better than to risk death in such places), a pair of newly installed metal doors stand stoutly locked. Amongst facades which have crumpled, dissolved and, in some cases entirely fallen away, a fresh coat of paint changes the regularity of grey for a brilliant mural. Where the other buildings lay hollow and dead but for the rats and insects, High Hopes hums with a certain new energy. Within the metal doors, new paint and carpet have been laid down; cheap and cheerful, but free of the rot and stench of neglect. The elevator buttons have been wiped free of grime, though the mirrors and banisters of the box are dim with tarnish. Labels mark the floors that are in some order of use, each level somewhere in the middle of renovations. New fixtures and lights shine upon cleanliness, doors and windows open to let the breeze through in an echo of cheerfulness. Despite the hardships, the residents of this building have found a niche where their lives may have the chance to flourish. ![]() ![]() Di's a good friend of mine; though we have our skirmishes over who enforces the rules, he's still a great room mate. He's open minded, but has a tendancy to not be straight forwards with his answers, which is a total pain. But, it is just part of his personality. We listen to the same music, and like the same foods, so he makes up for his attitude with good taste... I wouldn't be roommates with him if I didn't like him, after all.
![]() My other roommate, Rev, can take any ingredients and make something awesome. At first I wasn't sure about him, I admit… in being a grey pet, I've learned that most other greys prefer to mope in their misery rather than getting over their colour and living life. Rev proved me wrong though. He's an artist at heart, and can make any meal beautiful… you know he's good, 'cause sometimes I have to draw my supper before I eat it. He's too good at N64, though. I can pound Di but Rev's better than both of us put together.![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() So you want your own set of Headphones, eh? Think you can handle a kougra who will never listen to anything but their own headphones? Eru's more polite than that. But the ADOPTABLES aren't! I don't think it requires much explanation, what adoptables are... and most of you should know the rules. But anyways!2. Keep the link back 3. Don't tamper with the code or pictures. 4. Don't take customs that aren't yours. Easy enough, I'd think... so ENJOY! ![]()
