Welcome fellow Neopians! It's time to don your capes, pull on your tights and jump into the hero-mobile! Or, in the case of those of you that walk on the other side of the law, get your minions and doomsday rays and get ready to rumble!

After the success of the Masquerade Invasion a while back, I decided to host a BC invasion myself, only a little different this time. Heroes vs. Villains, the Ultimate BC Showdown! Pick your side and get ready for a battle to the end to see just who triumphs overall!

Entering is simple! Choose your pet(s) and draw them as either a superhero OR a (super)villain! Once you've completed your drawing, submit it to compete on the week of February 10th-17th

Rules

Some rules before we begin:

1: Your costume must be original to count in the invasion! Please note that the contest judge will most likely disqualify your entry if your rip off the costume of a copyrighted character!

2: No art thieving! NONE AT ALL! If someone tells us you are stealing art, tracing poses or copying someone else's work, you WILL be reported to TNT.

3: Please keep your costumes and villains/heroes Neopets-safe! No adult costumes or themes, please!

4: This is not a rule, but it is a courtesy issue. Please enter no more than TWICE in this contest. I know it's fun to partake in things like this, but when people enter multiple times, it makes it hard for others to have a fair chance at competing.

5: If you have your art DONE for the invasion, please send me a Neomail saying so with a link to a petpage hosting the picture. PLEASE ALSO TELL ME IF YOU ARE COMPETING FROM A SIDE ACCOUNT, AND IF SO, WHAT YOUR MAIN IS. I'll be compiling a list of entries (I have an excel spreadsheet, SERIOUSLY), their owners and species for my own sanity and to help keep track of points. Just in case your costume(s) are a little eccentric, please also say if you are competing as a hero or villain. Or, if you are entering both sides, let me know which is which. We will be doing our best to mark down how many are entered in each species.

6: Also not a rule or required, but just for fun, put a little blurb about your hero/villain on their page or in the comments on their BC entry! Why are they a hero or villain? What do they do? Any super powers or super weaknesses? Do they just go by their name or do they have a hero/villain alias?

7: While we encourage you guys to be creative with costumes and accessories, please remember that this is mainly focused on SUPER HEROES and VILLAINS. A comic-book look is kind of what we're trying to inspire, so masks, capes and high-heeled boots are going to be the fad. That being said, don't be afraid to step outside of the box with your hero or villain! The Hulk can't fit into tights and no one ever asked The Joker why he wasn't wearing a cape! Just don't send us an obviously non-themed entry and try to pass it off as "Incognito Man" or "Casual Girl". While that's funny, we won't count them.

Now, to add a little fun, we're making this a team competition! Heroes vs. Villains! It's a competition within a competition (within a competition? No, sit down you silly Inception fan)! While we can't give out any material prizes or neopoints to the winning side, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you picked the right side if you win! (And of course the horrible ridicule, booing and hissing if you are on the losing team ;P)

Picking a team is easy! Just compete as a hero or a villain! And, yes, you may be on both teams by competing one entry in each division, but you're kind of stalemating yourself in that case.

Points will be awarded to each team by placings in overall and species.

Points are as follows:

Overall 1st: 15 points
Overall 2nd: 10 Points
Overall 3rd: 5 Points
Species 1st: 4 Points
Species 2nd: 3 Points
Species 3rd: 2 Points
And every entry earns their team a ½ point!

When the BC is officially over for Heroes vs Villains week, I will tally the points and declare the winner! Everyone who competed will get a neomail from me congratulating/ridiculing(haha, just kidding) them at the end as well! Each entry can only win points in one or the other. If you win an overall placing and then also win a top three placing in species, your overall win will be the only one counted. Depending on your placing, you will win points for your team. The team with the most points tallied at the end of the competition wins eternal glory and all that. So, Heroes or Villains? In the event of a perfect tie, I suppose it has been proven that the battle still goes on.

1: Do I really have to pick a side?

Heck no! You may enter a Hero AND a Villain if you're really undecided about it!

2: Is there a prize for the winning team?

NOPE. Prizes are against the site rules, HOWEVER, I will be drawing trophies for each team, the winning team's trophy will be much fancier, of course.

3: Are BC invasions allowed?

Yes, during the Masquerade Invasion, we received word from a TNT member that they were allowed and even followed by TNT.

4: Invasions aren't fair! Those of us that don't enter in costume won't place as well!

Well, I'll admit that when invasions happen there are a lot of votes cast in favour of invasion entries. HOWEVER, if you are here, you now know the date of the Invasion Week! Just enter the week before or after.

5: Why is the date set so far away?

A lot of people are in college and busy otherwise. Being set a few months in advance allows people to get their art drawn, and also make changes if necessary.

6: Even if I don't enter them in the BC, can I draw extra Hero/Villain pictures just for fun?

Well DUH! Draw as many as you want!

7: Will there be another invasion in the future?

While I don't have any plans to do another one myself, I'm sure someone will plan another one sooner or later!

8: What if I /really/ want to enter more than twice?

Well, we certainly can't stop you. We only ask that if you DO decide that you absolutely MUST enter more than twice, you enter in one of the less popular species, as they are bound to get less entries.

9: What if my character is already a super hero/villain?

WELL THEN THIS IS THE COMPETITION FOR THEM, EH?

10: I can't decide D:

Do both! Or flip a coin! Or sketch out ideas for both, and decide which you like better!

Are You a Hero?

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Maybe you have an unwavering moral compass, or are just in it for the glory of recognition. Heck, maybe you just enjoy punching out muggers while wearing tights. Whatever the case, anyone can be a hero as long as they put the work into it!

Heroes are as diverse as anything else. Some stalk by night, never revealing their presence. Some Heroes are known world-wide because of their selfless deeds. Some are just in it for the spandex and capes.

Some Heroes have amazing super powers, while others rely on advanced intellect or super gadgetry. What makes your Hero super? Whatever the case, join the side of Good and bring an end to injustice once and for all!

Evil Genius, misunderstood freak or just general all-around Bad Guy? Come join the villains club then! It doesn't matter if you're after riches, world domination or just personal revenge. If you've got your heart set on destruction and mayhem, no matter the scale, this is the place for you!

Just as Heroes are diverse, there are an infinite number of unique villains. Maybe your guy relies on his freakish intelligence to gain power. Maybe he's got brutish strength (and the rage to go with it) as a result of an experiment. Hey, maybe he's just in it for the superior fashion and the chance to grow a really wicked goatee.
