Greetings, all new Neopians! Welcome to my Aerie!

Hurray! Fierwym's finally making version 3 of my site! Be prepared for a much better Aerie!

If I can make just one person breathe easier today, just one, then the day has been worth it.

If you're new and need help, you've come to the right place! My name is Kota_Tuari, a name that fits me well—it means "friendly eagle", and I my greatest desire is to help all you new Neopians. I'm a blue Shoyru, dedicated to helping new neopians like you.
So, guest, sit back and read what I have to say!

- - My Story - -

So, want to know why I've dedicated my site as a help site? It's because of my owner, fierwym. She had a very rough time at the start of her stay at Neopia. We didn't know much, nor could we find a help site such as this that would explain what was going on. It was rough, the first few weeks. We didn't realized that a bank account could help us stop spending all our Neopoints, or that there was a shop wizard there to tell us that a shield we would never use was worth 1NP, not 1000NP. *grins, "what a waste"* Other users preyed upon new Neopians like us, and they still do today. So, this site is a help site to all new Neopians, whether they have a good yet not good enough grasp of the rules or are completely new. This site is dedicated to showing new Neopians the ways of this world, so they won't feel lost, like we had.

Now that I've made a speech without meaning to, on to the Help!

- - General Information - -

Now, the first thing you should do is visit the General Information page.
It gives—well—general information about the world of Neopia.
I won't go into very much detail about this page… you can visit it and learn yourself.

The Basics to Getting Started

Ok… You have begun an account on Neopets, have a cute little friend with a fitting name… And now you are lost. It seems that none really want to give you help. Other Neopets users are sometimes rude, and dislike New Neopians. Well, my friend, not all are that way – So here is some advice.

Now that you have an account and Pet, the first thing you should do is get your Starter Pack. Go to your Inventory of Items, located in the "Pet Central" link in the yellow bar at the left of Neopets pages. When you go there, it should say that you qualify for a Starter Pack, and when you click on it you will get several items that should help you get started.
The next thing you will want to do is open a bank account to store your Neopoints in. In the "Shops" link on the yellow bar there is a button that looks like a safe… Click on it. Now you can create a bank account. Why should you? There are two reasons: 1) it keeps your Neopoints safe from more evil things in Neopia that will steal them, and 2) you can build up interest. The interest at first will start out small, but over time it will grow.
Now, you should play games, games, and more games. Why? It lets you earn lots of Neopoints, that's why! The games are explained better further down the page.

Ahh, it's that red Pteri! After a while all you new Neopets players will come to know this face, and will come to dread it. He is known as the "Down for Maintenance Pteri", and you will come to dread those words… trust me.

And of course, there is the Money Tree. This is where users donate items to help out the less fortunate players. I advise against going there, however, as they say it lowers your chance at getting random events. Random events are events that occur… well… randomly, and can be good or bad. For example, you might find *** NP on the ground, or the Ghosts might steal your NP. (another reason you should start a bank account)

And on a much more serious note:
Watch out for those that are trying to steal your stuff! Complete safety lists are provided with the links below: please read for your own safety.

And if you find someone doing any of these things, contact the Neopets staff!

- - Sarah the Helpful Zafara - -

The next thing that you should do before reading any further is to visit Sarah the Zafara, as she claims that she knows absolutely EVERYTHING about Neopia. Don't know what a Zafara is? Look to the left: there's a nice blue one that looks just like my sister! Anyway, to go to the help page click on Sarah to the right. If you're trying to get there from the main Neopet's pages, just click on the word "help" in the yellow bar to the left.

About Making Neopoints

Neopoints. What are they? Neopoints, a.k.a. NP, are the currency of Neopia, the world of the Neopets. You use these to buy food, toys, and even clothes for your Neopets. There are several ways to get Neopoints.
The first, fastest, and most reliable way to gain NP is by playing games, games, games, and more games. There are currently over 160 games. These are sorted into four different categories: Puzzles, Action, Luck and Chance, and then there's the featured game that gives you double NP if you play! My advice is to stay away from the Luck and Chance games, since you might end up with nothing. Find plenty of Puzzle games and Action games that you are somewhat good at, since you can only gain NP from a single game three times a day. So, if you're good at quite a few different games, then you can play each three times and gain the NP from them.
Another way to gain NP is by opening and maintaining a shop. If you chose this route then be prepared to spend a lot of time on Neopets, and a shop takes an enormous effort to maintain. If you keep it up though, and find good deals, you can end up with piles of NP! Remember to check the Shop Wizard to see how much an item is really worth! People will buy from shops selling an item at 1000 NP rather than 2000. You want to sell—make sure yours is a shop that people want to buy from. Also, when making purchases, it's a good idea to check the shop wizard, as there might be a cheaper place to buy it. Cheap, cheap, cheap, is what your looking for. It takes time to gain all those NP!
Another way to gain NP is by going to all the "freebie" places. These are places you can go to once a day to get little freebie things. Sometimes you will get something worth a lot, like a codestone or a petpet, from Tombola or the Fruit Machine. You can keep these and use them, or sell them for thousands of NP!

Yet another way to gain NP is to play to your strengths. Can you draw, write stories or poetry really well? If so, then you might consider entering one or more of the many Neopets contests. The contests are listed here, here, and here, so what are you waiting for?
There is a finale way to gain NP, but this is so rare and happens so infrequently that you shouldn't rely on it. Every once in a while, a "Something has Happened!" sign will appear, saying that you have won ??? NP. Other times it will say other things, but we're just talking about NP right now, huh?
Well, I think that all the main ways to gain NP. You can go to the stock market as well, but I don't know all too much about that as I don't go there. There are also places like here, but aren't games more fun!?

About Playing Games

I won't go all too much in detail of the games, as my brother Yahto is planning to give tips for them on his page. Since this is a help page for the new people, I'll just go over the basics.
Games. Loads of them. Over 160, to be exact. To the left you can click on each of the three different types of games, Puzzles, Action, and Luck and Chance. My advice, especially for you new Neopians, is to STAY AWAY from the Luck and Chance games, at least the ones where you have to pay to play. It's just not worth it, since it is so hard to create NP in the first place. If you still feel like doing so, I will not stop you *bows and rolls eyes as you turn your back to go through the link*. Anyway, to those that have decided to stay I can give quite a bit of information to help aid you.
You play games to earn NP. It's that basic. You can play one game three times per day to win NP; after that you can play as much as you want but you can't earn NP. Basically:

  • 1. Find a lot of games that you are somewhat good at,
  • 2. Play each three times a day, and
  • 3. Earn lots of NP! You want NP!

Actually, that's mostly it. If you would like to know more, I suggest going to Sarah the Zafara and asking her. Of course, if you have another question that you just can't find the answer to, all Neomails to fierwym are ALWAYS open. That's right, always. The only thing that we have blocked in Battledome challenges: fierwym doesn't believe in making Neopets fight. *sighs in relief*

HTML… What's HTML?

What is HTML? It is "Hyper Text Mark-up Language". It is what allowed me to make this site.
I am not teacher of it, however… And so just click on the link below to get your own free lesson from Neopets!
It's where I learned how to make pages too!

There is also a thing called CSS… How about you hop on over to one of these places to learn about that?
*grins awkwardly* I'm not all too sure just what CSS is myself.

And now you must know something… I know absolutely NOTHING about the battledome. fierwym doesn't take us there (which is a good thing), and so neither she nor we know anything about it. If you're wondering why she doesn't take us, then listen to this:

Battledome? I won't go taking my Pets to the Battledome. Want to know why? Aww, cute little creatures with big eyes… Kinda like that old show, Pokemon, huh? Except for many differences… The Battledome just makes them another Pokemon. Besides, I just don't see Taariq or Kota or any of them fighting with their personalities.

But that doesn't mean I won't try to help out some. The best thing you can do is *drum roll please* go to Sarah the Zafara and ask her. Just type the word "battledome" and you'll get some frequently asked questions related to it. About the only answer I know is how to stop battledome challenges: and that's not much use if you want to battle. The best thing you can do is go ask Sarah, or find another person willing to help that actually uses the battledome. I'm sorry, but I'm not a big help for this section. If ever Fierwym chooses to take us to the battledome *gives a cough that sounds remarkably like "highly unlikely"*, then I promise I will give better info.

UPDATE!!! Some may have noticed that my Userlookup now has a Battledome score, and that Taariq, my sister, has fought there. This is very temporary, as she only volunteered to fight to gain points for Hannah's cause. As you may have read on her site, she's a major fan of any Neopian hero. Again, this is only temporary, as in we will not fight others besides the thieves and snow beasts. After Hannah's plot is over, we will not be visiting the battledome anymore.
