Welp, this is ancient.
Meikaze is getting an itsy bitsy update, excuse the mess.

The half-hearted ding of the elevator creaks through silence, the only sign that life has been returned to the little tin box. With a loud groan, and a shudder that makes you grab the rails, the elevator creeps a little higher… then sighs again. Disheartened, you move to beat on the doors once again, praying that maitnence will get you out. The moment you raise your hand, though, doors suddenly clatter open, all the lights flashing brightly and the ding sounding louder than before. Startled, you stumble forwards, colliding with something hard and flat… a foot of concrete juts up in front of the opening, the cusp of the second floor not-quite met. This hallway seems deserted, but cleaner than the first; that floor was a jungle of boxes, dirt and scraps of metal, with flickering, hissing fluorescent lights and the growl of machinery. The third floor, noted as the second in sprawling sharpie on the elevator's mutilated button panel, was obviously better maintained. A fresh coat of golden-cream paint starts from the elevator door, an antiquing-style finish started atop in bronze. Brand new carpet is beneath your feet, a cheap industrial brand, but it's unstained and free of wearing. Along the hall, you can see where the renovation ends, the roll of carpet waiting for a worker, several large tins of paint with plastic-wrap over them to keep them from drying out. A soft crossbreeze sighs through two open doorways, and the floor seems to be altogether abandoned. A sudden clang behind you sounds out as a dark blue wocky pounces out of the fire escape. "Oof. Sorry 'bout the 'Vator, hun. It's been givin' us all some hardcore guff lately"
