Lost Desert FAQ

Anubis
Equipment | Petpet
To play this, tap 1 of your Neopets.
This Petpet gives an additional +2 to all stats while attached to a Basic Neopet.

Does this give +2 to all stats everywhere?

No, only the Neopet Anubis is attached to gets +2 to all stats, and only if that Neopet is Basic.

Can I attach Anubis to an Experienced Neopet?

Yes, but that Neopet won't get the additional bonus.

Bazaar of Wonders
Location | Light
To play this, you need a Light Neopet.
Before each player's turn, if that player has a Neopet here, he or she may draw a card.

Does Bazaar of Wonders affect my opponent?

Yes, "each player" includes you as well as your opponent.

Do I get to draw multiple cards if I have multiple Neopets in the Bazaar of Wonders?

No. Bazaar of Wonders only checks to see whether or not you have any Neopets there, not how many you have.

What do I do if I forget to draw before my turn?

Be careful to specify whether you're drawing from the Bazaar or for your normal turn draw. If you've already untapped cards, you'll have to try and remember the Bazaar on your next turn.

Blue Tonu
Neopet | Basic Tonu | Fire
When you bank a card, this Neopet gets +2 to all stats until end of turn.

What happens if I bank two or more cards?

Blue Tonu gets +2 to all stats for each card you bank. If you bank two cards, all of Blue Tonu's stats will get +4 for that turn.

Bow of Searing Dawn
Equipment | Weapon | Fire
To play this, tap 1 of your Fire Neopets.
When you roll a 6 in a contest this Neopet or Hero is in, you may discard one of its rivals.

What happens if we both roll a 6?

If both players roll 6, then both players will reroll. Bow of Searing Dawn won't do anything unless you roll a 6 on the final reroll.

If I roll a 6, and the only rival is removed, does that mean I won "a contest without a rival"?

No, contests without rivals are won automatically. Removing a rival before winning a contest doesn't mean the contest never had a rival.

Crest of Sakhmet
Equipment | Armour
To play this, tap 1 of your Neopets.
Your opponent can't start a contest here unless he or she has a Neopet here whose stat for this arena is higher than this Neopet or Hero's stat for this arena.

Is the arena stat the stat as printed or with bonuses?

The stat includes everything except Item bonuses and the die roll.

Dead of Night
Something Has Happened | Dark
To play this, you need a Dark Neopet.
Dark Neopets get +4 to all stats this turn.

If I play a Dark Neopet after Dead of Night, does that Neopet get +4 also?

No, Dark Neopets played after Dead of Night won't get the bonus.

Desert Ruins
Location | Dark
To play this, you need a Dark Neopet.
Before each player's turn, if that player has a Neopet here, he or she discards a card from his or her hand.

What if I have no cards in my hand?

You won't be able to discard for the Desert Ruins, and then you'll draw for your turn and proceed as normal.

Desert Scimitar
Equipment | Weapon
To play this, tap 1 of your Neopets.
When you attach this Equipment to a Neopet, draw a card.

Does moving Desert Scimitar make me draw a card also?

Yes, playing the Scimitar on a Neopet or moving it onto a Neopet with an effect will cause you to draw a card.

Forgotten Promise
Item
Before your opponent's turn, you may discard this card from your bank. If you do, he or she can't draw cards this turn.

Will discarding Forgotten Promise from my bank stop an effect that lets my opponent draw before his or her turn?

No, the person whose turn is starting gets to do his or her "before your turn" effects (such as Bazaar of Wonders) first. Then you can discard Forgotten Promise to stop your opponent's later draws.

Fyora Faerie Doll
Item | Doll
When you bank this card on your turn, you may reroll your dice once each contest until end of turn.

If I rolled multiple dice on a contest, can I reroll just one of those dice, or must I reroll all of them?

If you choose to reroll your dice for a contest, you must reroll all of dice you rolled for that contest.

Gebmids
Location | Air
To play this, you need an Air Neopet.
A player who wins a contest here that he or she started banks or draws a card for each of his or her Neopets in that contest instead of banking or drawing a card for winning the contest.

My copy of Gebmids says "banks and draws," not "banks or draws." If I have 2 Neopets in the contest, do I get to bank 2 cards and draw 2 cards?

No. The rules text on Gebmids has an error. The phrase "banks and draws" should be "banks or draws." Gebmids has received errata and its new text is listed here. All copies of Gebmids play as if they have the new text.

So, how does Gebmids work now?

You bank or draw once for each of your Neopets in the contest, one at a time. You choose whether to bank a card or draw a card for each Neopet individually.

Does Gebmids let you bank or draw cards when you win a contest against a Villain?

No, you can't bank or draw a card for winning a contest against a Villain (the rules don't let you).

Grappling Hook
Equipment | Weapon
To play this, tap 1 of your Neopets.
While untapped, this Neopet can move without tapping to an arena with a Location.

Is this while the Neopet is untapped or while the Grappling Hook is untapped?

While the Neopet is untapped, Grappling Hook will let the Neopet move without tapping.

Horace the Poor
Hero | Blumaroo | Air
To play this, tap 1 of your Air Neopets.
When you play this card, you may look at your opponent's hand. Don't choose a card there. (You can't have it!)

Why is it I don't choose a card?

Horace the Poor only gets to look, but sadly, he can't touch.

JubJub Morphing Potion
Item | Potion
If you win this contest, search your Neopet stack. You may replace 1 of your Neopets in play with a JubJub from your Neopet stack. Then shuffle your Neopet stack.

What happens if I don't have a JubJub in my Neopet stack?

Leave the Neopet from the contest where it is and shuffle your Neopet stack.

What happens when I replace a Neopet with a JubJub?

Equipment on the original Neopet gets attached to the JubJub. If the original Neopet was Basic, it goes into the Neopet stack before the stack gets shuffled. If the original Neopet was Experienced, it gets discarded before the stack gets shuffled. The new Neopet is tapped if the original one was tapped.

Kau Fortune Teller
Neopet | Experienced Kau | Earth
You may tap this Neopet to name a card. Then reveal the top card of your deck. If you named that card, put it into your hand and draw a card.

If I named the right card, do I draw two or one?

You put the named card into your hand, and then you draw one-putting the card you named into your hand doesn't count as drawing it. Effects that look for cards drawn will only count the second card.

Mirage
Something Has Happened | Air
To play this, you need an Air Neopet.
Shuffle a Location in play into its owner's deck.

Can this shuffle my opponent's Locations into his or her deck?

Yes, anyone's Location can succumb to a Mirage.

Mummified Negg
Item | Food Negg
If this card is in your bank, you may discard it to bank a Negg from your hand.

If I bank a Negg that has a restriction like Golden Negg (To bank this card, choose 2 cards in your hand and discard them.), do I have to meet the restriction on that Negg?

Yes. Whenever you can bank a card you must meet all "to bank" requirements to put the card into your bank. For example, if you wanted to bank a Golden Negg using Mummified Negg, you must discard 2 cards from your hand. The same would be true if you wanted to bank Golden Negg with Bori Miner.

Will banking a Negg with Mummified Negg's effect cause the banked Negg, such as Happy Negg (When you bank this card, you may return a Negg from your discard pile to your hand.), to trigger from being banked?

Yes, banking a Negg with Mummified Negg's effect will trigger the banked Negg.

Nabile
Hero | Ixi | Earth
To play this, tap 1 of your Earth Neopets.
When you win a contest this Hero is in, you may bank an Equipment. (Do this after you bank or draw for winning.)

Can I bank an equipment I drew for winning the contest?

Yes, Nabile lets you bank Equipment after you bank or draw for the contest, so you can either draw and bank, or even bank one thing and then bank an Equipment.

Plains of Despair
Location | Fire
To play this, you need a Fire Neopet.
Before each player's turn, he or she rolls dice equal to the number of his or her Neopets here. Discard one of those Neopets for each 1 rolled.

Can I discard the same Neopet if I roll multiple 1's?

No, you'll have to discard a different Neopet for each 1 you rolled.

Potion of Invisibility
Item | Potion
When you bank this card, choose a Neopet. Rivals can't join contests against that Neopet this turn.

If I choose a Neopet with Invisibility Potion and then start a contest in that arena, do I automatically win even though my opponent has Neopets in that arena?

Yes, the invisible Neopet would win automatically, and it would trigger any "contest without a rival" effects. Your opponent never saw it coming.

Rainbow Sticky Hand
Item
When you play this in a contest, you may take control of an Equipment attached to a rival. If you do, attach it to one of your Neopets or Heroes in the contest.

Can I attach the Equipment to a Neopet that couldn't normally have the Equipment?

Yes, effects that move Equipment are not limited by the restrictions on the Equipment.

Ruki Patrol
Neopet | Experienced Ruki | Light
When your opponent's Neopet starts a contest, you may tap this Neopet and discard a card from your hand to end that contest.

Can I use Ruki Patrol even if I have no cards in my hand?

No, you can't use the Patrol unless you can both tap it and discard a card.

Sophie the Swamp Witch
Villain | Ixi | Fire Dark
To play this, you need a Fire or Dark Neopet.
When you play this card, each player discards one of his or her Neopets from play. When this Villain loses a contest, untap all its rivals.

What happens if a player doesn't have a Neopet in play when I play Sophie the Swamp Witch?

That player won't have a Neopet to discard, so he or she ignores the effect. Don't forget-Villains don't count as Neopets.

Vanishing City
Something Has Happened | Air
To play this, tap 1 of your Air Neopets.
Move all Neopets, Locations, and Heroes from an arena of your choice to another arena of your choice.

What happens if there is a Location already in the arena that is being moved to?

The Location that was there is discarded, and the moved Location goes into the new arena.

Vile Stench of Zal-Bora
Fate | Curse | Dark
To play this, tap 1 of your Dark Neopets.
At the end of each of this Neopet's controller's turns, discard each of his or her other Neopets here and in each adjacent arena.

What happens if Vile Stench of Zal-Bora is in an arena on one of the ends?

A Stench in the strength (red) and intelligence (green) arenas will only affect that arena and one other-agility (blue) and magic (yellow) respectively.

Wheel of Excitement
Something Has Happened | Light
To play this, tap 1 of your Light Neopets.
Reveal cards from your deck (one at a time) until you reveal an Item or Equipment. Bank that card and then discard all other revealed cards.

What happens if I don't reveal an Item or Equipment?

You reveal your deck and then you discard all those cards.

Wheel of Knowledge
Something Has Happened | Light
To play this, you need a Light Neopet.
Reveal cards from your deck (one at a time) until you reveal a Book. Put that card into your hand and then discard all other revealed cards.

What happens if I don't reveal a Book?

You reveal your deck and then you discard all those cards.
