Pet Name: Darcixial
Owner: meowryoohki
Breed: Aisha

About Darcixial:
Darcixial quivered excitedly as the ship began to rumble. The engines roared to life, and the spacecraft shot into the air. He began to float as the faint gravitational pull of kreludor weakened, and they drifted further and further into space. He pressed his fuzzy face against the side of his transparent helmet, and the helmet against the cold window. He could see the moon in the distance, where the rest of the Alien Aisha Academy jealously waited for their return.
You see, he had been one of a few alien aishas chosen to go to Neopia, to spend some time with the aishas who ran the vending machines.
“I hear you don’t even have to wear spacesuits there!” an eager voice piped up. “But how do you breathe?” another asked.
Darcixial slid out of his seat, and floated over to where most of his class had gathered. Each wore a collar with a yellow star on it, signifying their position within the academy. He and his friends were still young, just getting their first flying lessons with the older aishas, the ones who were given red stars. Someday they would have blue stars, and get appointed to live in a real ship. Silver stars meant they had a position on the crew, and gold was given to captains. Darcixial wanted nothing more than a gold star.
He sat down next to some of his friends as an aisha with a silver star entered the room with a large book. It contained pictures of nerkmids. Each student would be given a few, and could try their luck at the vending machine when they got to Neopia. As they aishas enthusiastically flipped the bright pages of the book and received their nerkmids from the crew, they did not realize that something was wrong.
The young aishas were comparing the designs on their nerkmids when the first explosion occurred. They were thrown to the side of the ship, against the wall. Shrieks and crying filled the air, but it was drowned out by the next blast.
“What’s happening?” one of them yelled, their voice seeming small and insignificant in the crowd of frightened aishas.
“We have to evacuate,” one of the academy professors stated, “Please stay calm and file out toward the back of the ship.”
The academy ran many drills about what to do if the ship malfunctioned, but Darcixial was overwhelmed with fear. This was very different from the safe, calm practices they had executed at home. Someone grabbed his paw and pulled him toward the exit as tears began to roll down his cheeks. He had never been so scared in all of his life.
The next few minutes were a blur. The aishas were crammed into small pods that were present on every ship.
“Make sure all of the coordinates are programmed!” someone yelled, “There should be enough fuel to get them all to Neopia!” Someone pulled Darcixial’s seatbelt over his chest and clicked it into place, hastily punching some numbers into the tiny ship’s computer. Then the door was shut.
“Wait!” Darcixial cried as the computer screen went blank. Something had gone wrong.
“Enter coordinates,” a computerized voice said. The computer hadn’t processed what the other aisha had typed. Darcixial leaned over and tugged on the door handle, but it was locked up tight.
“Help!” he yelled “I don’t know where I’m going!” Only silence greeted him. He peered out of the tiny window on the pod. One by one the other aishas were being launched into space. No one was there to help him. He considered his options. Every aisha knew the coordinated of the academy, but the crew member had said that there was only enough fuel to get them to Neopia. Kreludor was much farther away.
“Oh Space Faerie guide my luck,” he squeaked, pressing in a few random numbers. He closed his eyes as the pod took off, and he curled into a shaking ball. There was nothing else he could do for himself now.

Ground. He had hit the ground. Darcixial coughed and struggled to get out of his seatbelt. He was hanging upside down. The aisha yelped as the belt opened and he fell to the bottom of the ship. The door had broken open as the ship had landed, and he could see some light from outside. Where was he?
Darcixial crawled to the opening and pushed it open with his helmet. He felt bruised in one hundred places. As he tried to stand his legs gave way, and he tumbled to the ground. He couldn’t walk. Something was holding him down.
“So this is what a lot of gravity is like,” he murmured, trying to get up again. As he tripped and fell into the dirt again he started to cry. If this was gravity, he didn’t like it. He didn’t like being lost either. He wanted to go home. He continued to cry until he was finally exhausted, and fell asleep.
When he woke he felt something soft beneath him. As he snuggled against the blanket, he realized someone had taken him out of his spacesuit. He blinked open his eyes and squeaked. Four other aishas, all different colors, were staring at him.
“Maiyairu, he’s awake!” the smallest one squealed. The little aisha was purple and orange, and only one set of antennae on top of his head. All of them only had one set of antennae on top of their heads. They looked strange to Darcixial, but even stranger was the person who entered next- a girl with a set of homemade aisha ears on her head.
“Hello,” she said, “how are you feeling?” Darcixial didn’t know what to do.
“I think he’s a little shy,” the girl said to her other aishas, “why don’t you go out and play for a while?” The other aishas nodded and ran toward the door, grabbing a large bubble like object that Darcixial recognized as a gormball. He knew all about the sport, since Farvin III had been to the Alien Aisha Academy. Maybe if these aishas played gormball they would be so bad.
“Do you want something to eat?” the girl asked. Darcixial nodded. He wasn’t quite sure what to do when the girl placed a large brown and blue object in front of him.
“It’s a chokato,” she said with a smile, “try it.” Darxicial licked the chokato.
“No silly, bite it,” she said. Darcixial did as she asked. It was the most flavorful thing he had even tasted. Nothing like the dried food packets they had at the academy, or the sickly sweet candy the alien aishas often made. A wide smile spread across his face. The girl beamed.
“Would you like to stay here with us?” she asked. “There are other pets here besides aishas, and it gets a bit crowded, but I’m sure you’ll like it.”
Darcixial suddenly felt a flood of happiness, different from any feeling he had ever had before. There was a bond in his heart now, the bond between pet and owner. He nodded, his eyes shining. The girl smiled too, and attached something to Darcixial’s collar, right next to the star.
He looked at the charm as his new owner left the room. The round, flat piece of metal glinted brightly in the light, shining a beautiful gold color. It may not have been a star, but Darcixial would not have given it up for the world.
A note from Maiyairu: I mentioned pets on two of my accounts (meowryoohki and twilightdestinymai) if you are confused about where all the pets came from.
