Pet Name: Discomfort
Owner: jalapenojelly
Breed: Moehog

About Discomfort:

Turning your attention to the center stage, you see a female Halloween Moehog and her oversized Stopngo 400 petpet, but due to the audience mingling amongst themselves, you can't make out what the two are saying. Finally the house lights dim and a singular spotlight shines upon the Moehog and her petpet. The Moehog clears her throat before grabbing a microphone.

"SET GREETING = HELLO. LET MYNAME = DISCOMFORT. SET AUDIENCE(ASK_QUESTIONS) = TRUE?" the Moehog said to the now silent audience.

The silence within the auditorium grew deafening before the audience started to mutter amongst themselves. They couldn't understand what she said.

"(AUDIENCE)HAVE. A. CLUE = FALSE. " the Moehog muttered to her petpet as she sighed dejectedly.

Her Stopngo 400 beeped at her in reassurance before it used its internal microphone system to talk to the audience.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Neopians of all ages. My name is Discourse and this is my owner, Discomfort. Discomfort is very important to me as I am to her. She has a condition where she can only talk in what is known as computer programming code. Because of this, I was created and given to her as her interpreter. Her question to you was if you had any questions. "

You raise your hand and Discourse points to you.

"You seem to understand what others are saying, but why can't you speak in a normal language?" you ask Discomfort.

"ERROR: LANGUAGE NOT FOUND. " Discomfort let out a slight sigh.

"How did this happen?" another Neopian asked.

"SET COWORKER(CAME_INTO_WORK) = LATE. MANAGER SET DISCOMFORT. GO(HOME). SET COMPUTER = DISCONNECT. ERROR: DISCONNECT NOT RESPONDING. " At this moment, Discomfort paused her narration as she noticed that most of the audience didn't have a clue as to what she was saying.

"One day, Discomfort was finishing her shift at the assigned job that the Job Agency sent her to. " Discourse took over the narration. "The co-worker that was suppose to take the next shift came in late, so she decided to get in some extra computer time as her specialty was based in Computer Technology. When the co-worker finally came, she was in the process of logging off, when the computer started giving her problems and didn't want to disconnect. It was suspected that it was the Neopet V. 2 that glitched up in her computer terminal. Whatever the cause, a jolt of energy arched out from the computer terminal and lashed out at Discomfort. When she came to, Discomfort found herself in the hospital, with minor wounds and singed clothes. The only known lasting side effect was that she could only speak in computer programming code. "

"INPUT: QUERY. NEXT (GREEN_SKEITH)?" Discomfort asked of the skeith that had its right clawed paw upraised.

"What's your favorite food?" the skeith asked.

"SET FOOD(PEPPERMINT_PIZZA) = FAVORITEFOOD (DISCOMFORT). " Discomfort responded right before her stomach grumbled loud enough to be heard by the whole audience.

"Speaking of which, it sounds like it's dinner time. " Discourse summarized.

"TRUER. WORDS (SPOKEN) = NEVER!" Discomfort agreed wholeheartedly.

With that, the spotlight dimmed and the house lights went up. As Discomfort and Discourse walk past you towards the exit, you hear them talk.

"Well, that went better than I expected. " Discourse said.

"DISCOURSE WAS. SAYING = ?" Discomfort said with a chuckle.
