About StradViolin:
My name is StradViolin, the only official soldier of the Neopet's Aid Agency.
Now, most serious soldiers you find don't have a very fun-loving, bouncy
personality. I, however, used to be the worst of all of them, a fact that
Lotive (my newest trainee), pointed out to me happily in his usual chipper
tone. He was positive that having fun was a wonderful thing. I never once
thought he was right. Fun was distracting, and very time-consuming! What
good was fun?
Little did I know, I was soon to find out.
One morning, I was performing my usual patrol on Mystery Island. Suddenly,
something caught my sense of smell. Thinking it was the scent of my target,
I bent down to get a better sniff. Before I could register what was
happening, a flash of blue flew across my field of vision. Startled, I
tumbled backwards into a patch of thick grass. Upon blinking and recovering
for a moment, I realized that a blue butterfly had landed on my nose! Irked
by the diversion, I swatted the tiny creature away.
"Leave me alone, you!" I said gruffly.
Upon taking a few more steps, the thing landed on me again!
"Listen, bug!" I shouted, crossing my eyes to get a better look at it. "I'm
busy! Go play with the Rock Pool petpets!"
Instead of obeying me as it should have, the insect began marching all over
my face, tickling me as it did so! To my own surprise, I began to chuckle,
which turned into a fit of giggles.
"Tha...that tickles!" I gasped between choked laughs, trying desperately to
flick the creature away and regain my composure. Still, the creature
continued until I was a gigantic black and red mass of squirming humor.
I laughed until I cried, and then I laughed some more. Eventually, the tiny
flying thing stopped moving and flew back to my nose, quivering its wings as
if excited. Instead of swatting it this time, I laughed heartily.
"Alright, alright, you can come with me on my rounds." I said merrily.
Carefully, I stood up and resumed my job with the insect still attached to my
nose and a large smile plastered onto my features. Some neopets and owners
pointed out how strange it was for a soldier to be running around with a
delicate butterfly on his face. Instead of scowling at them like I would
have the day before, I chuckled and shrugged.
This little guy was my new friend. Who cared how we looked?
I was astonished that such a young little Gelert could have been so smart in
a matter such as this. When I asked him later how he was so wise, he only
giggled and hid his nose behind my owner's leg. Smiling, Iris bent down and
patted me on the head.
"Strad, there's a time for work, a time for play, and apparently, a time for
butterflies!"
